The first season of the Resource Talks ends with a special two-part episode with two of the foundational scientists of sustainability and scientific reform of economics and industrial policy: Robert Ayres, Emeritus Professor of Economics and Political Science and Technology Management at INSEAD, and Herman Daly, professor emeritus at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
Bob Ayres co-founded the discipline that came to be known as industrial ecology, and Herman Daly co-founded ecological economics. For a full 50 years and counting, both have led the contemporary reassessment of technical and material progress by revisiting the foundational science, including thermodynamic limits and quantitative economics, and reasserting the need for social-ethical framing of industrial progress.
