Think about how many times a day you want someone else to behave differently, for the weather to brighten, or for an event to change so it fits what you want. We all have this tendency. We want to shape and control the world around us so we never have to feel discomfort or disappointment. The problem is, we are living in a time when it's impossible to do that.
