07 Nov 2024 | Ready for a Midlife Career Change? with Josh Peck | 00:42:42
My guest today is the wonderful Josh Peck! This is the first time I’ve had the chance to chat with Josh, a midlife career change coach who helps mid to senior level professionals find more fulfilment in their careers without sacrificing salary. Josh and I dive deep into why so many people seek career changes in their 40s, plus what that process looks like practically, the challenges of finding a new balance, and the fulfilment that waits on the other side. We break down common pitfalls, like the pressure to stick to an 8 hour workday, how to avoid becoming your own toxic boss, and challenging the idea that a career change means starting completely from scratch (hint: it doesn’t!). Tune in for insights on how to balance what you want in life with what you want from your career, and of course the money side of it all. Be sure to learn more about Josh at: And on Instagram @yourbestlifeuk QUOTE “If you want a career change, it's because your job's here and you're way over there and there's this gulf between them. If you want to realign who you are with what you do, you've got to be really bloody clear about who you are at this point in your life. Because we change so much and no one teaches us stuff, most just aren't that clear unless you've done a fair amount of work on who you are.” “Money’s not bad, its neutral. What you choose to do with it is what YOU choose to do.” “What we learn when we're really small is that all of our worth and our value comes from doing rather than just being. Is it any wonder that we get absolutely addicted to working, working, working? If we're not working, then what value do we think that we have?
10 Oct 2024 | Done with mindset work? Think again... | 00:23:49
There’s a lot of talk around mindset at the beginning of your business – why wouldn’t there be, it’s easier to recognise! When you’re just starting out, you’re much more likely to come face to face with your money conditioning at every turn, from the way you think about setting your prices all the way to the scarcity that may get in the way of you starting in the first place. After you’ve been doing this for a little while, that mindset talk can get fewer and farther between. You feel familiar with all of the tricks your brain is trying to play, and you may even have a few tricks of your own to combat them! Which leaves you wondering… what’s still standing in the way? It probably comes as no surprise that your mindset work isn’t over just because you’ve been running a business for a long time. In fact, this could be the most challenging stage of working on your money mindset because your conditioning shows up in really subtle ways. Tune in for insight on where money blocks can sneak their way into your subconscious even if you know what to look for, and what you can do about it! If you’d like to join a group of likeminded business owners as we make a plan to embody your next money making level, be sure to grab one of the last few spaces left in my retreat on 16th October! You can find all the information here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/retreat-days QUOTES “We're always slagging money off to somebody: “There's not enough of it. It's hard to come by. People spend too much of it. There's not enough for us but there's too much for everybody else.” And so your subconscious brain just goes, ‘cool, sounds like we shouldn't have much of that.” “What I notice is that two things happen as people progress in this work: they start to ignore mindset because they ‘did the big stuff’. They swept their desk of the mess, but what they didn't notice was that actually, their desk had woodworm in it. That was making the desk weaker. But they didn't see that because they didn't pay a lot of attention to the nooks and crannies.”
31 Dec 2024 | Embracing your Inevitable Success with Samantha Hearne | 00:46:22
My second guest in the ‘You’re Guide to Making it Happen in 2025’ series is the wonderful Samantha Hearne! I was blown away by my conversation with Samantha – the fearlessness and tenacity that she brings to her business and coaching is absolutely infectious. Samantha and I talk through her own business journey from her start as a teacher to building a business that sustained her both energetically and financially. We dive deep into how she created her foundational approach that success is inevitable, and ways that you can adapt a similar belief within your own mindset. Tune on for a massive permission slip to believe in your goals with all of you, and then make them work on your own terms. You can find more about Samantha at https://www.samanthahearnecoaching.com/ QUOTES “Some of us are more doers. Some of us are more fly by the seat of our pants. If you do have a more questioning mentality of ‘how do I do this? Is this possible?’, that doesn't mean that you're doubting yourself. It's just your thought process.” “ Such a big part of being online and having an online business is that you are creating a level of exposure and vulnerability that a corporate job or employment doesn't have. Essentially what you're doing is saying, ‘here's what I want to say. Do you agree with me?” “ Who you are is so much more than a number. It's about where you've come from and what you've done, the impact you've had.” Mentioned in this episode: Ready to stop apologising for your prices and start 2025 with real confidence? 24 Oct 2024 | The secret reason you're not selling | 00:30:36
Feeling stuck with your sales but can’t put your finger on why? There is one specific block that comes up with most of my clients when this happens… and the tricky part is that most people can’t see it in themselves! In this episode, I’m revealing the secret spiral that so many business owners get into, where you doubt yourself because you’re not making sales, then stop selling because you doubt yourself. It’s a circle that feeds itself and keeps you from showing up and sharing your work passionately. Tune in for insight on how to notice when you’re avoiding selling, and most importantly discover the reasons why in order to stop the spiral! If you're looking for some help to make more sales without the ick, my self-paced course Sell That Thing is now open. And I have a very exciting bonus for this round. Join before 31st Oct and you will be able to join my live 5 day 'Sell That Black Friday Thing' bonus. This means you will be able to plan/create an offer to sell on Black Friday (or small business Saturday if that's more your bag!). This bonus is a great way to get learn how to put offers out quickly and sell them with joy! Plus it means you'll get a whole heap of coaching from me within the group! Check out all of the details here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/sell-that-thing QUOTES “People conditioned as women are told to stay small, be nice, be polite, be kind at all costs, be gentle, be humble. Do any of those sound like what we're told selling is like? Selling takes up space. Selling says what I offer is good. Selling repeats itself over and over again.” “Can you imagine a man going, “I just think my communication style is too direct”, and trying to make it more flowery, more gentle, and more approachable? Women who are more direct are shamed, but equally the wiggly non-linear people are criticized because their style of communication is meandering. It is harder for women to show up on repeat because we have less trust in our own communication styles.”
30 Dec 2024 | The Impact of Storytelling with Colette McBeth | 00:50:11
Welcome to a very special Real You Real Money episode series! To kick off 2025, I wanted to gift you a handful of episodes to combat the negative chatter that can run wild in the online space. Those voices that say things like ‘nothing worked in 2024, the algorithm is against you, the game has changed and left you behind’. Sound familiar? All of those generalisations can make you feel like giving up and keep you from reaching for your goals… and while people say these things like they’re universal truths, the secret is that they are absolutely NOT! During this series, I’ve invited 5 different guests who absolutely smashed it in 2024 to talk through how they did it. We dive deep into their unique stories and break down how they shifted away from those beliefs and toward a business that worked for them. In the first episode of the series, I welcome the brilliant Colette McBeth to the podcast. Colette shares her journey from being a Television Correspondent for the BBC to a prolific author and coach who helps business owners use storytelling not just within their marketing, but throughout every aspect of their work. The usefulness of storytelling doesn’t end with how you speak to your audience; Colette shares how the stories we tell ourselves can have a huge impact on how we set goals and define our self-worth. Tune in for tips on how to connect deeply with your audience AND your own desires! 02 Jan 2025 | From getting visible to going Viral with Jo Hutton | 00:56:25
Joining me for the fourth episode of the 'Your Guide to Making it Happen in 2025' series is the amazing Jo Hutton! Jo walks us through the transition from being a studio-based yoga instructor to the discoveries that began when she started to offer her services online during the pandemic. As someone whose business was rooted in a physical presence, Jo comes to us with a unique perspective on just how expansive an online presence can be for any business. Starting with the transition itself, we dive into the lessons that Jo learned while embracing visibility, especially when what started out as a TikTok experiment led to her going viral. Tune in for some amazing insights on how to build and maintain your confidence and sense of self when showing up online! QUOTES: " These are not personality traits. They are skills that I can learn or unlearn. And where I focus my energy is where it's going to grow." "Let me tell myself a better story about Instagram. Let me tell myself that I can learn this, that there's a formula, and that it's not happening to me, I'm happening to it. If both of those stories aren't true, then pick the one that's gonna feel better in your head." " The hardest bit is climbing up cringe mountain. But once you're on the other side of cringe mountain, it doesn't matter which cringe mountain you've climbed. If you see someone else climbing cringe mountain, you will do nothing but cheer." 01 Jan 2025 | Setbacks to Success with Anna LaGrange | 00:48:05
In the third episode of the ‘Your Guide to Making it Happen in 2025’ series, I’m chatting with my long-time friend and brilliant business colleague Anna Le Grange. Anna walks through the ups and downs of her evolving businesses and gets super truthful around the challenges she faced post-pandemic, not to mention the strategy and mindset work that helped her adapt her businesses within an ever-changing online landscape. Listen in for Anna’s full story, which really lights the way for how resilience and reflection can make all the difference when it comes to your money making. QUOTES " I think there's a lot of messages with coaching that you just have to believe everything will be all right. You can't . You have to figure out what action you need to take, because once you're in control of that you're not hiding. " " It's so much pressure and you can feel really out of control. It's a lot to hold that space. But also, in my head, I was like: I've done this before. I can do it again." 15 Aug 2024 | Navigating the Money Dynamic in Your Relationship with Jolie Caparco | 00:53:18
This week I’m welcoming Joeli Caparco to the podcast! Joeli is a brilliant coach who helps people reconnect with their needs, wants, and desires so that they can have happier, healthier relationships.
Together we unpack the complexities of how money-making plays into, and sometimes determines the dynamics of our marriages and relationships. Fair warning, it’s a maze of conditioning, a healthy dose of grey area, and a whole lot of self (re)discovery!
Stay tuned as Joeli shares her own story of a dysfunctional money dynamic within her previous marriage, and how she created a new family balance that made room for the work that she’s passionate about and the moneymaking possibilities that come with it.

17 Aug 2022 | Introducing Real You, Real Money! | 00:29:20
This week I have a big announcement… I am officially changing the name of this podcast to Real You, Real Money!
The reason behind the change is part of an evolution that has been going on behind the scenes here, which I share all about in this episode! It all started by really zoning in on the transformation that money coaching can do for you and your business, which has led me to a new way to express the main focus of my work. What is that focus? Well, it’s all centred on how showing up as the real you— yes, including your mistakes, contradictions, and all the messy bits— is the most sustainable way to make money.
Tune in for more!
If you catch my mention of the pricing workshop, you can find more info here: https://raydodd.co.uk/pricing-workshop
QUOTES "A lot of why I talk about your conditioning, about conformity culture, about all these things that tell us we have to be one way in order to make money is because I know that the only way to make sustainable money— the magical ingredient you are looking for when you sign up to someone's calls, their free download, when you listen to a podcast— the magical down download you are looking for really is in you already."
"Have you ever found yourself starting to do things in your life, in your business, in your relationships, it could even be the way you're dressing or something that you do with your time, where you suddenly are like, huh! I'm becoming the person always wanted to be. It's in those moments that we find our unique route to making money."
"There is more integrity in evolution than in staying the same. And yet toxic professionalism says to us, which is a key part of conformity culture, it says to us ‘They’ll think you are wrong. They're gonna think you don't know what you're talking about.’ And we know that smacks of a misogynistic inability to allow progress and change."
"So your income goal, your definition of success, your business model does not have to look like everybody else's. And that can be hard when we don't see people who reflect who we are doing, or what we want to do."
"It's a cycle of invisibility. We look for people who reflect us… and we don't see any of them. So we either quit or we assimilate. Most of us, we mask, we pretend, we try to squeeze our round cells into a triangular hole."

29 Aug 2024 | What gender identity has to do with our money making… | 00:58:15
Get ready, cause this one’s a deep dive! Doctor Asher Larmie joins me in this episode of Real You Real Money to talk through the intricacies of gender identity, gender conditioning, and what it all means not only when you’re navigating your business, but the world.
Asher is a transmasculine doctor now working independently with clients to combat weight stigma and promote weight-inclusive care. Together, we dive into the complicated nuances between the very personal side of gender identity, and how it relates to the larger social conditioning and often arbitrary expectations we place on people based on the gender they’re born into. Bringing both of our experiences to the table, this conversation is mainly about what it means to be socially conditioned as female.

13 Jul 2022 | What it means to be you | 00:40:42
A lot of times, coaches in the online business space throw out phrases that are yes, useful, but feel really broad in what they actually mean. Phrases like ‘aligned’, ‘multitudes’, ‘the real you’… that last one is going to be the main focus this episode! Being the real you can have a massive effect on how much money you’re earning in your business… it’s just a matter of getting down to what that actually means.
Right now I’m experiencing a lot of natural shifts in my business, and so much of it is because I’m encountering, over and over again, just how effective and intricate the idea of showing up as the real you is. We have so many versions of ourselves, and we all come with our notions of what’s acceptable, what’s profitable, what ‘the right’ version is… the ‘real you’ is certainly not just a button that we can switch on!
We live in a culture that only makes space for a very narrow presentation of identity, which means that if we fall outside of that imposed norm, we get message after message saying that we are not worthy, not succeeding, not good enough…and that’s just not true!
Tune in to dive into all the ways that this can show up, and what you can start doing about it!
QUOTES
“The idea that a human being could be so many things at once. So many supposedly contradictory elements to themselves. There's very little space for that in a culture that has a very narrow definition of who you are meant to be. And it leaves people with no space to put their feet.”
“So when someone suggests we show up as ourselves, it's often more complexity than we can hold. Or more to the point, maybe it's more complexity than we believe our surrounding culture can hold. That people are gonna say, huh? How can she be both that and that?
“You making mistakes is not just inevitable. It's necessary to you building something better that serves your people in ways that you are dreaming of.”
“You don't want a seat at the table, you want ot create your own table. Let's not participate in this nonsense. Let's not try and bend it to our own.”
“There is no price that is going to convince everyone to buy. And that obsession will keep you so stuck. People don't buy because they're not buying into you or what you offer. You're not showing them who you are. And yes, when you show them who you are, you will lose people…that is not a sign that it’s not working. That is a sign that it is working because you will also attract the right people.”
“This is work where we are removing layers of conformity culture, conditioning that has been given to us without our permission. And it is going to take time. I'm constantly finding parts of myself.”

QUOTES FROM MEL “I want a business that is regenerative: I want my business to feel like it actually energises me, like it fades back into my system.”
“The models that we've been given for how a business should run are not fit for purpose for women existing in the world today. They're based on a very patriarchal construct. They're based around, you know, the industrial complex that came in to being many years ago. That is not the reality of, of how we live. They're based around accumulation for the sake of accumulation rather than purposeful intentional building and depth.”
“With the old business models, we're just told: that's what you need and you know, figure it out. And so many of us are not made up that way. So we just bury our head in the sand and then nothing is working, and then we burn out and then we're like, I'm not cut out for it.”
“Can we normalise that we're not supposed to know how to do things right out of the gate? It takes some time. It takes some realising that, okay, I've tried this, not my wheelhouse. Who can do this for me better and save me some time?”

15 Dec 2021 | What We Miss when we Set Goals | 00:14:31
In this episode, I wanted to hop on and talk a little bit more about the idea behind my Anti Goals Workshop, and what that title actually means!
When we talk about goals, a lot of the time they can be deceivingly simple. The typical conversation around them ignores the anxiety that making goals can set off and the unique conditioning we all experience that might stop us from reaching that goal… or even making it to begin with!
That’s why I want to do a 180 on goals as we step into the new year. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s a good thing to have an idea of where you’re going and make plans. The thing I’m not a fan of within traditional goal setting is using goals as metrics to measure your worth or continued success. It doesn’t take into account the unique human behind the goals: the fact that goals might take more than one try, or be effected by unexpected life events, or take a little more work depending on your own conditioning around things like success.
Listen for more talk about a new way to approach goal setting and how to make space for the individual, wonderful YOU as you make plans for 2022.

QUOTES "If we simply make the goal, like "I'm going to double my income. I want to double my business's revenue." Well, great....but what are you going to have to unravel in order to actually achieve that goal?"
"Goals often are made as if our subconscious brains and our feelings don't exist and they can give us a false sense of control. If I make a goal, if I name where I'm going, then I will avoid the stickiness of everything that surrounds that goal."
"Most goal setting I've seen is... about becoming a more standardised version of yourself. And forgetting, burying, casting aside, abandoning the parts of you that yes, are sometimes hard to deal with. But are also other sides of magical parts of you. And I really want to encourage you. I am excited to see what happens when we set goals that honour who we are."

22 Feb 2024 | Trust Yourself FIRST | 00:30:09
Today, we’re chatting about safety, familiarity, trust, and how all of these things come together to build the foundation of your business.
Running your own business means that you are likely reinventing typical structures, whether it’s in your sales, your offers, or even your day to day. You are at the centre of it all, and while that is super freeing in theory, it can be a challenge in times of doubt.
When we have to make big decisions or take risks, our brain’s instinct is to search for safety in the familiar. So what happens when we enter the uncharted territory of our new, play-by-our-own-rules business? Tune in for a discussion on how to avoid outsourcing your trust, and making decisions based on what you know instead of what you fear.

QUOTES
“We are so worried about drowning – about it all going wrong – that we are like squirming with our legs, working frantically to stop drowning, when actually we can just put our feet on the floor.”
“The role of your subconscious is to make sure that you are safe. So it is asking without you consciously being aware of it in every situation: is this familiar? If it's familiar, I'll read it as safe.”
“I have to look at what is true, what I know, what I can touch. Not what I fear is true.”
21 Mar 2022 | Forget the Algorithm with Amanda Perry | 00:45:08
This week, we’re speaking with the incredible Amanda Perry, founder of Soup Agency and digital growth expert.
If you can’t figure out why Instagram just isn’t working for you lately, then this is a must hear. Amanda breaks down the rollercoaster of running an online business between the start of the pandemic to today, and the knock-on effect that every unexpected change has had on our marketing.
We talk through how to create an ecosystem of marketing sources, and the huge benefits of not putting all your eggs in one digital marketing basket. We confront the habit of marketing only on Instagram (one that so many of us have fallen into!) and chat through how to strengthen the foundations of our businesses by expanding to other platforms in an intentional and impactful way.
If you’re ready to stop worrying about the algorithm, then this is an absolute must hear.

QUOTES
AMANDA: “It's really easy to create a house of cards, business.”
“What I love about where the industry is now, and online businesses in general - I think it applies to coaching as well - is that we are going to be forced to go back to… building really strong foundations. Because you are not building an Instagram business in 2020 to one that will be sustainable.”
“Let's stop going: I post on Instagram and then sometimes I copy that over to Facebook or I'll repurpose it on Facebook…and I try to do LinkedIn but I don't really do it. Let's stop thinking about that and start from the objective. And the purpose and the objective is to attract new customers, bring them back time and time again and give them a great experience. So how can we do that? And what platforms do we need to be on?”
“I think we're so used to this idea of automating and making it easy and you know, how can I do this four hour work week and all this? And maybe we just need to realise that that… that's not how we're going to build these businesses we can be really, really proud of.”
RAY: “Be this unusual thing in this world. Like, disrupt what they're expecting. And you will stand out way more.”
04 May 2023 | Reflections on my Retreat | 00:24:02
I have just returned from the first retreat I’ve been on since the pandemic, and couldn’t wait to bring you my thoughts, discoveries and reflections from the time away!
My week in Florence was absolutely transformational in the most gracious of ways, and brought to light so much of what it means to trust myself and my desires.
The feeling that has resonated with me the most was having no sense of reaching outside of ourselves for success— you may have caught my recent content about rejecting the idea of a ‘higher self’ and replacing it with your most fulfilled self, your most satisfied self. I wanted to bring that feeling back to share with you, so tune in for more chat on how to embrace all parts of yourself, tap into your desires, and set them free in both your life and money making.

QUOTES
“It was incredibly healing, to not have to feel like we have to be this higher and higher and higher version of ourselves. It was all about embracing all of our parts and making space for them and allowing them.”
“What the world needs is full, complex human beings that also hold money. Because it amplifies who we are.”
“It's about you doing exactly whatever you want to do and making money while you do it. And it not looking a certain way: it gets to look however it looks, but the guide for us all is trust. It’s knowing that we can trust that who we already are is the person that achieves the goal, not your higher self.”

My guest today is the brilliant Ruthie Zerai! Ruthie a professional life and business coach who empowers people looking to become a better version of themselves everyday.
We chat about the idea of having a purpose, and the practical ways that you can find and follow yours. It’s easy to feel like you have to do it all, especially in some areas of the coaching space. Ruthie brings us examples from her own journey and experience that show us just how valuable it is to follow what you want instead of what you think you should want.

QUOTES
“My understanding of purpose is: how can you set yourself on a path that feels meaningful to you. And that's how you break down this whole big convoluted kind of topic around purpose into something that is digestible.”
“How does this fit with the greater context of my life? I’m not saying that if it doesn't feel good, I don't do it. Because sometimes some things that are good for me might not always feel good. I'm more like ‘feel good’ in terms of like, does this feel true? Or am I doing it because I'm trying to be like somebody else?”
07 Mar 2024 | Free Yourself, Free Your Business | 00:21:41
Today I’m taking a look back at the journey from the start of my business to where I am today. I’m currently revamping my own messaging and funnels, which has turned out to be a great chance to reflect on all of the experiences, inspirations, and even pitfalls that that are at the heart of my offers.
Listen in to hear about how and why I started my business, the circumstances that led me to the self-trust I needed to jump in with both feet, and how you can do the same no matter where you’re at.
If you caught the shoutout at the beginning of the episode, the undeniably brilliant Tamu Thomas just released her first book ‘Women Who Work Too Much’. Check it out here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Women-Who-Work-Too-Much/dp/1837820740

QUOTES “I realised how much easier it was for me to make money when I decided to trust myself. When I decided to do things in ways that felt good to me, that is when it worked.
“I don't care what people think of me being visible. I need to feed my family. That was a far more pressing concern than: what does so and so think of me being visible? Am I annoying these people?”
“I don't want you to have to hit a rock bottom experience in order to be able to act on your zones of genius or your deep desires. That was my story, but it doesn't need to be your story”
26 Jan 2023 | Separating your worth from your money making | 00:26:24
In today’s episode, I’m talking through the pressure we create around sales. Our feelings around making a sale can reshape into something much different than just having someone buy that thing or accept that offer. We can fall into the pattern of placing our worth, confidence and a whole lot of our self-perception around the success of our offer and the money we are making.
If you’ve ever caught yourself writing your sales page, making that reel, waiting for a potential client on a call and thinking “if this works out, I’ll be ok”, then this one’s for you.
Your worth does not change based on the amount you sell… and the secret is that when you detach the two things from each other, sales start to become a lot easier! Stay tuned for tips on how to get there.
And if you’re interested in joining Plenty and getting support in your money making, take a look at all the info here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/plenty-november-2022
QUOTES “We often refer to this in the coaching world as attachment and detachment. When we are attached to the sale, we are attaching our worth, our potential, our future to that moment, to that sale.”
“People buy because you are offering them value. Whether that's visual value, aesthetic value, business value, it's because of the value that they see in what you are offering, not because you've asked them to buy.”
“We do need money, but our need for money covers things like rent and bills. It doesn't cover our worth. Money cannot meet our needs around our worth.”
“Gather the evidence now that you have, that your worth is whole, that this thing is working. I want you to get absolutely specific, granular with your wins over what's working. Keep going.”
08 Dec 2022 | Money as a Creative Process with Megan Macedo | 00:43:49
I was so inspired by my conversation with Megan Macedo and I just can’t wait for you to hear it today!
QUOTES “Most of us have been raised in the business paradigm - western culture is the business paradigm. You can also think of it as the productivity paradigm, the hustle, grind culture. The focus is on the outcome… Whereas the art paradigm, the focus is on the process. The focus is on: who are you, what are your creative instincts?”
“Money lives in the art paradigm. It's just been like bastardized in the business paradigm.”
“Making money is a creative process. It's as simple as that.”
“The need to make money means that you have to create a container so that the work can be born.”
19 Apr 2023 | Embracing Big Money | 00:31:30
How does the phrase ‘big money’ make you feel?
That’s exactly what we’ll be diving into today, specifically why a phrase like this provokes such a big reaction from so many people, and how understanding that reaction can help us make sense of our own approach to money making.
This episode started even before I hit record, when I took to Instagram to ask all of you what your gut reaction was to the phrase. Some people said it was exciting, but two thirds were more reluctant. ‘Big money’ felt out of reach, unattainable, too ambitions, even corrupt.
The knee jerk reaction to ‘big money’ often comes from a place of playing small, of casting aside what you want as too big, too ambitious, or too much. These are subconscious instincts that we’ve absorbed over time, from a culture that says it’s not ok to want more… which is just not true!
Tune in for more on how to challenge these assumptions and embrace your money making desires and ambitions.

QUOTES “Owning the desire, owning the ambition for big money matters. And learning to unravel our conditioning around that somehow not being okay really matters.”
“Your worth is immeasurable. It's already set. It's pointless to measure it because it's concrete, and it can't really be measured because it's infinite.”
“People never want money just for money. We all want things, experiences, all of it, to create a certain feeling.”
“Just because there's lots of people not making that much money does not mean that's okay. The vast majority of the population is not making enough money. That doesn't mean we need to put ourselves in the place of the vast majority as if that's morally superior. It's not.”
29 Jun 2022 | The Post Pandemic Money Shift | 00:28:36
Have you noticed a shift happening? A shift in how people are talking about money, a shift in how we look at our businesses, how we think about our presence online. A shift in how we approach the big questions, like what you want your work to look like, your life to look like, and what type of money you need to get there.
If that seems like a big broad way to start a conversation, you’re right, it is! But it’s something that we need to look straight in the eye. The pandemic threw us into the online world in a way that has been so rapid and impactful, which is why it’s noticeable now that everyone is taking a step back and figuring out what it all means to them.
So where does money come into this? Well, a lot of the time taking a step back means that money goals start to shift, often getting smaller and less risky. This is where we have to proceed with care and a whole lot of listening to ourselves. Because the truth is that any money goal is absolutely worthwhile if it allows you to take up the space you long to fill, whether that’s five figures, six, seven, you name it! What’s important is to not let yourself slip into old money habits that keep you small just because this crazy world can let fear and scarcity creep in… tune in for all the nuance and tips!

“What do you want? What do you desire from your business? What life is your business allowing you to live? That's the thing. For some people that will look like seven figures and for some it will look like five figures, and that's okay. And yet we've been sold this thing, to feel like it's got to be more and more and more and more.”
“Business always felt risky. This has always been true. We just didn't have this societal shit show around us… now we've got this kind of current affair style element to it, we have 24 hour news. It's no surprise that we are feeling increasingly risk averse and wanting to retreat to safety.”
“I don't think every human being can have it all. But I do think we can have what works for us.”
“I can make the money I want to exactly as I already am. And actually, that the things that we dismiss about ourselves are often some of the most magical ingredients to that. Some of the most potent ingredients to that.”
“Some of the old rules I wrote down were: are you still believing that time equals money? That effort equals money? That hustle equals money? Do you believe that everyone has to like you? That you have to please everyone in order to make sales? Are you still believing old ideas of what a leader looks like? Of what a wealthy person looks like?”

16 Feb 2022 | Toxic Professionalism | 00:18:52
In this weeks’ episode, I’m telling the full story of my current launch of Money Mastery and getting totally honest about what happens when you find new inspiration mid-launch.
If you’ve been following me for the past few weeks, you may have seen that I had launched this course under the name Plenty More. Plenty More is a course I love, but I’ve known that it’s been evolving into something even bigger for a while now.
I wasn’t sure what that bigger thing was yet, so I announced the next round with that niggling sense that I wasn’t quite done. And then it hit- the piece of my framework that was missing - the framework that has now become Money Mastery. And it happened right in the middle of my launch. Naturally, my first thought was ‘what on earth do I do next?’
Tune in to hear about all the questions, doubts, and conditioning that came with pivoting mid-launch. I chat through my worries about looking unprofessional, and the ways society has dictated what that means to us. And the freedom in side-lining that expectation and doing whatever it is that’ll give you AND your clients the most ease, joy, and growth.
If you’re ready to master the skill of moneymaking, take a look at my new course Money Mastery - you can find all the details at this link: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/money-mastery. If you’re interested in hopping on a call with me to chat about the course, you can book here!
If you want a preview of what we’ll be covering, or just want to get a start on your money mastery journey, I’ll be offering a FREE workshop on The Three Stages of Money Mastery this Thursday at 8 PM. You can sign up here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/money-mastery-workshop. Hope to see you there!
QUOTES
“Professionalism on mass is racist, homophobic, fat phobic, classist, basically. It's about your proximity to being a white, cis male middle-class person. It’s like: how close can you be to that? The closer you are to that the more professional you are deemed.”
“So there's that side of professionalism that is deeply problematic. It's the ways in which we believe we have to show up in order to be credible, in order to be seen as trustworthy. A lot of that is about holding power in perfection. And holding power that it is not ours to hold.”
“The number one thing holding you back from making money is not that you don't have the right strategy. It's not that you don't have the right business model. It's your conditioning. It's all the stories, all the ways you're believing you have to abandon yourself to make money.”

12 Sep 2024 | What grief looks like as a business owner | 00:32:05
I want to start with a quick content warning: today we’re talking about grief, specifically the death of a parent. If this is a vulnerable topic for you, this might be an episode to skip or listen to with care.
I’ve been feeling the pull to record an episode on grieving while running your business for a while now, mainly because this has been so prominent in my own business, and I haven’t found much content that speaks to it.
This isn’t going to be an episode where I teach you how to smash your business goals despite your grief – in my experience, that’s just not how it works. For me, making space to care for myself while grieving is the main thing that has allowed me to balance the work that that I love, which sustains me and my family, with the very personal processes and emotions around losing a loved one.
Listen in for a nuanced conversation on what it’s like to find balance in times of loss, and the unavoidably practical side of trying to slow down in a world that keeps moving.
If you have experience with anything discussed in this episode, I’m sending lots of love your way.

"Sometimes things do fall out of the sky when we weren't expecting it. And that's really scary. But rather than working on all the ways you'll manage it, try to work on looking at the things you can control. One of the main things you can control is believing that you will cope."
"This doesn't have to be the year you smash it. What if this is the year that you coast? What if this is the year where you get by and it's okay? If I'd been honest about that in the moment, I actually think I'd have made more money ironically, because I think I'd have made a plan for a coasting me, not a smashing it me."

PIPPA “Patriarchy, capitalism, white supremacy, all those fun systemic problems all combine together to tell you what those rules are, even if they don't exist. You've got to recognize that there's a way that you are being expected to do things before you get to shape what your way is.”
“It'll get easier. You'll unlearn many things. You'll learn new beliefs. And then sometimes when the shit hits the fan or when you've disappointed somebody…you will suddenly be back to the first time you were five, seven, whatever age you were distinctly disappointing to a parent or something like that, and there'll be that pull right back to ‘I'm not enough. I'm a piece of shit.’ And you get better and much quicker at digging yourself out of it.”
“It's acknowledging that you are at the very minimum a duality. You are a multitude of things. And we have a real habit in our businesses of checking those at the door. And I don't think most of it's a conscious decision. I think there's a lot of elements of should’s and beliefs that cycle.”
RAY “You don't have to self-improve every single part of your business. I see so many people say, ‘I just need to get better at that. I need to get better.’ No, you don't. You don't ‘have’ to do any of the stuff."

“None of my clients are getting the photos taken because they want to promote how they look. It's because they want to promote how they work, what they do, how they can help you. The body that they are in is important…and irrelevant.”

15 Mar 2023 | Using your Frustration as Fuel | 00:26:02
Today, I’m talking about a phrase that has been coming up a lot not only with my clients, but within my own business too: Righteous Frustration. When I say ‘righteous frustration’, I mean that space where you know you are meant for more, but you recognise that you are not there yet.
Being in this space can bring up a whole lot of feelings around ourselves and what is possible for us. It can put us in a victim space, where we believe that the things we want aren’t meant for ‘people like us’, and cause us to question our worth, work, and ambitions.
Tune in for tips on how to challenge those stories that get in the way when you’re reaching for more, like surrounding yourself with people that show you that it IS possible, accepting that your journey takes time, and using your frustration as the fuel it was meant to be.

Your frustration is not proof that you are wrong.” “In the business space, it doesn't exist that you can't do it. You just haven't found the angle yet. It might involve an almighty pivot, but I think we need to be open to all the different ways it might look." “We make money in our space. That's where we make the easiest most sustainable money, is when we are acting in our strengths, in our zones of genius, in the spaces that fit us.”
11 Jan 2023 | 5 tips for doubling your income in 2023 | 00:42:18
Today I’m sharing my 5 tips for doubling your income in 2023! This goal has been at the front of my mind in so many ways as the new year begins, including being the focus of my group program Plenty (which is open to signups now!). But setting a goal to double your income is about so much more than the amount itself. It’s about really owning that number and believing that you can take the steps to reach it. Not only that, it’s about strengthening the belief that this goal is absolutely possible for you.
At the same time, believing that you can double your income is an incredibly vulnerable step to take. It can bring up all the doubts that float around your business, like charging more, imposter syndrome, scarcity, and that pesky perfectionism.
So let’s get into it! Tune in for five tips that include how to

QUOTES “I definitely think you can double your income. I also believe that the majority of people listening are currently underestimating the amounts they can make.”
“Clearing the path is when we look at where we're holding onto money and where it needs to be going. Even though there is enough, we don't believe that more money is coming so we hold back. And when we do that, we stifle the flow of money by subconsciously telling that money that it is not enough.”
“The more shame we can remove from debt, the better and the more likely you are to pay it off. Look that stuff in the eye.”
“Expect your brain to have shit to say - that does not mean you are not doing it right. Expect it not to be linear - that does not mean you're not doing it right. Not hitting the number does not mean you're not doing it right.”
“The issue with your money making is not that you are not doing enough. It's not that you are not enough, and it's not that you need to be more. One of the biggest skills in making money is learning to expand your capacity to receive.”

08 Jun 2022 | From £7.50 to £7,500: How I jumpstarted my monthly income as a new business | 00:36:20
In this episode, I’m talking through one of the most common questions I’m asked, which is how I built a business that took me from having £7.50 in my bank account to my first £7,500 month within the span of just four months.
Interested in some 1:1 support for your business? I have just two spots left for Money Momentum, my 6 month one-to-one coaching package that'll help you do the deep work to bring growth and longevity to your business.
I have also just opened up new spaces for The Intensive - a full day of coaching with me - and Illuminate Sessions - accessible one hour sessions where we can focus in on whatever part of your business needs attention.
QUOTES “When I say visible, what I mean is that you are showing up as ‘visibly’ who you are. That can be in written word. It could be - if you are someone who makes things, if you create products, if you curate products - it could be in the way that you choose those things. Somebody's home can be visibly them. It's not just that you get to see them. Your clothes can be visibly you because they are a part of you. They express who you are.”
“How many times does someone look at you funny and you think, oh, they're probably thinking this and this about me. And you've told yourself a whole story, upset yourself, like offended yourself with the story you just told yourself - you've got no evidence for that. Other than maybe they like glanced at you in a certain way. Our brains are so powerful at coming up with these negative stories. They can be just as powerful coming up with positive ones.”
“You make content to attract the right people to your work, which means you have to repel the people that aren't a good fit. And I've always actively repelled on purpose - repelled as much as I have aimed to attract.”
“You don't need a massive following to make money. That was my big lesson in my early parts of my business. I made 94 grand my first year and I had certainly a Facebook group of way under a thousand, possibly under 500 people. I know when I had the seven and a half grand month, I think I had about 300 to 400 people in the Facebook group.”

22 Jun 2022 | Selling Every Day | 00:19:22
Today’s episode is on a topic that ALWAYS gets a strong reaction when I talk about it… and not always a good one! We’re going to talk about selling, in all its tangly glory. Whether you realise it or not, we all have a load of conditioning around selling and a lot of times it works against us. So many of us show up to our business with the built-in idea that selling is pushy or overbearing… and that’s just not it!
Selling is inviting people to work with you. Sharing the brilliant thing that you do best. Reminding people of how you can help them. Tune in and I’ll break down the details of that pesky selling conditioning, and how to challenge each bit!
And if you want some help, check out my Selling Bundle, which includes three of my best offers on selling, visibility and pricing at a limited price! Click here to read more, or visit www.raydodd.co.uk/the-selling-bundle
QUOTES “There is absolutely a correlation between the amount of space someone is taking up in their business, the amount they are really showing up for their business, and the amount they're posting in terms of social media content (if that’s how they market their stuff).”
“You are the only person present for all of your content. You're the only one who sees every single bit of it.”
“To be reminded of something by somebody whose work I love - which is why you're following them, which is why you are opening their emails, it's why you are not unsubscribing or unfollowing- to be reminded, I'm grateful when that happens.”
“So when I say ‘sell every day’, maybe you are hearing pressure people every day, convince people every day… and that's not it. That's not what selling's about. It's connect with people every day, build trust with people every day, illuminate corners of their brains. If you're a service provider, a coach, or a mentor or a consultant, it's giving them ideas, giving them fresh perspectives every day.”
14 Dec 2022 | Reflections on 2022: It’s all Part of the Process! | 00:46:45
At first, I didn’t know if I was ready to look back on 2022. This year has felt like a lot of growing pains, a lot of learning, a lot of things that might need more time to settle before reflecting. Which made me realise that now was exactly the time to think about it all!
By shying away from talking about it, I was judging my process, every point that didn’t go exactly as planned, every time I decided to change, everything I learned from trial and error. I was judging the very things that have made me grow into being more me! So I’m crumpling up that judgment and throwing it aside to share 4 lessons I’ve taken from this past year. Tune in for more chat on how...

QUOTES “If we get too bogged into judging that journey, judging every single bit, deciding that if things aren't a hundred percent going our way, then they're not going to go our way at all. If we do that, we really lose some of the process that is meant for us.”
“Do what you love, do what works for you, forget the numbers.”
“Reminders are not an unkindness. They're a kindness to people. Offers, invitations are a kindness to the people that want what you do. It's giving them another opportunity to consider it, to think about it, to make a decision that feels good to them in that moment.”
“There’s this idea that your energy, your time is what you get paid for. When you're somebody who has less time and less energy, there's work to be done in untangling that and looking at things in a different way. But when you do figure out what it looks for you, the path is going to be easier. Because you've taken away all of the “you have to do it this way.”
27 Sep 2023 | I was wrong about mindset | 00:31:21
I little while back, I released an episode talking about my decision to stop using the word ‘mindset’. There were a lot of (really valid) conversations happening at the time, about how ‘mindset’ implied that our thoughts are the primary factor in what we can – or can’t –achieve.
‘Mindset’ felt like it side-lined all of the big, circumstantial things that are totally out of our control. It made things like patriarchy, racism, homophobia, and really any form of oppression a YOU problem, and not a SOCIETY problem. I just wasn’t having that.
What I was missing was the link between ‘mindset’ and the ways we need to challenge internalised oppression in order to change our own perceived limitations. While our mindset won’t be the only thing to change society, it is certainly part of what will allow us to claim our space in the face of the systems standing in our way.
Tune in for more on the nuance of mindset, and the importance of looking for the meaning behind the buzzwords!
01 Dec 2022 | Getting What You Want | 00:22:20
Why are you making money?
This is what we’re chatting through in today’s episode… because no one makes money just for money’s sake. Whether you’re motivated by numbers, necessity, validation, or something else, there is always a driving force behind why you’re earning and what you want to earn.
We can get caught up in thinking that money needs to be hard work and VERY serious, which can fog our vision when it comes to what actually matters to us while making money. Money loves it when you show up in a way that is FUN for you, and I don’t mean that in a magical, mysterious way. Money loves fun because if you are having fun, you’re enjoying what you’re doing… which means that you’re clearly motivated by the way you’re doing it!
And that’s what it’s all about. Making money in a way that is completely YOU. Tune in for more on how!
And if you want help accessing your desires around money and tapping into your specific, uniquely you motivation, then today is the last day to join my money program Plenty! Here’s the link for all the info: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/plenty-november-2022/
QUOTES “The work is to find the thing that motivates. Perhaps it's having a bigger impact. Perhaps it's the sort of things that people are going to experience once they work with you. Perhaps it's the process of creating what you create. Perhaps it's the connections you make. Perhaps it's more about numbers of sales as in people you impact.”
“As women, we are very frequently, if not from birth, we are taught to deny our desires. Two of the most basic desires are food and rest. How are those two working out for you in a misogynistic, capitalist, patriarchal society?”
“One of the reasons that people are not motivated by numbers is because we're caught up and we take it too seriously. We set a goal and if we don't hit it, we make that mean a lot of stuff about us. We really judge ourselves. We don't look at the business issues that come up. We go straight to where we are to blame, where we are rubbish”

17 Jun 2022 | Making Decisions on Spending: Live Coaching with Sofaya Hussein | 00:23:30
This week we’re back with another live coaching episode! I’m chatting with makeup artist, beauty educator, and Creative Virtual Assistant Sofaya Hussein about the worry around spending money in our businesses – a big stumbling block that comes up a lot!
Sofaya tells us about feeling resistant and terrified of spending money even when she has the utmost confidence in her ability to make money in her business. She shows up with a ton of great questions around how she’s built her own money beliefs – why is there such a discrepancy between action and feelings?
Huge thanks to Sofaya for sharing her time and experience with us!

QUOTES
FROM SOFAYA ‘Even though I had the utmost confidence in myself and knew I could work it out and I could make that money, I found myself so absolutely resistant and terrified of spending that money. It brought me to the question of where's this discrepancy coming from and how do I get my actions to match up with my feelings.’
FROM RAY “I just did a podcast interview with Natalie Miller who's an amazing coach and she talked a lot about being a conduit of money and the way that money flows through us, rather than us being the receptacle for money.”
“We don't have the money for the sake of having the money. We have the money to give us a feeling of safety and security. Or to buy a house. Or if we have children, to pay for something for them. There's purpose to it.”
“Both thoughts exist in my head at once and you recognise both those things, and it makes you feel more confused. Though a lot of people don't recognise it and that’s when it's cognitive dissonance, where you don't even realise you are holding these two thoughts… I absolutely believe I can make the money that I need to make in my business. And I'm really scared of letting go of any of it in case I don't.”
11 Feb 2022 | Uprooting Scarcity - Live Coaching with Anna Le Grange | 00:37:11
I am so excited to share today’s episode as it’s the first of a new, experimental limited series!
One of the things I love the most about group coaching is the way that one person’s realisation can have a huge impact on the people who witness it. This collective processing that happens allows us to reach parts of ourselves we otherwise may not have found.
With this new series, I’ll be coaching someone live in each episode, talking through one question that they’ve brought to the table until we reach a new insight.
Today, I’m coaching Anna Le Grange, a lactation consultant who helps families and professionals navigate their way through the world of breastfeeding.
Anna’s question: 'How do I keep growing my business and sustaining it during a huge life change?' Anna is specifically moving abroad, but Anna’s question could really apply to any huge life event… or even just the constantly changing current world (see the past few years).
We start our chat with a course that Anna’s reluctant to let go of, exploring whether it’s a good idea to discontinue an offer in order to allow for growth… even if that means a momentary dip in income.
This leads down the path of how to fill your business with things that you’re in alignment with, and the stories that keep us from growing into this space. We talk panic around money, the hit of shame your ego takes when things are not going well in your business, and the need for comfort and security that might lead to scarcity… and ways to break free of it all.
I’ve absolutely loved making this series, and send a huge thanks to Anna for kicking it off with me!

QUOTES RAY: “So one of the things I'd really encourage you to do… is to get really clear on the numbers. In your business and in your family. One of the things that people don't do enough of is we feel that we need something, but we don't check if we actually, physically need it.”
ANNA: “It's more about my ego, you know? What does it say about me if my business isn't growing from last year? What does that mean about who I am and where I've got to in business over four/ five years?”
RAY: “If you think of that kind of energy you're putting into it, it's: ‘I'm carrying on with this because I'm not capable of creating that money elsewhere.’ And that is not the kind of bold version of yourself that I know you created your whole business with. That was much more like: ‘there's nothing like this in the world and I'm going to go out and do it.’
RAY: “I would love for you to get super clear on what success means to you. Cause it feels to me like you've got a bit of cognitive dissonance about it. On one hand you're like, I don't think success is just money. And yet, I feel unsuccessful because I'm not making enough money.”
RAY: “What I do now with the younger version of me- this one's sort of like maybe like nine- literally in my head, I crouch down. And say yeah, it's okay. Adult me is here. I've got this. You're not the one in charge of this bit. And we have that chat.”
RAY: “Look at where you're making a decision from. Is it from: ‘This would be exciting? This feels expansive’. Or is this from: ‘I cant.’
02 Nov 2021 | Money Does Not Demand your Perfection | 00:19:02
Money Does Not Demand your Perfection. It never has.
I said these words in an Instagram post a little while back, and ever since it’s been one of my favourite topics.
In this episode, I’m going to dive in again, and talk about exactly what this means. We’re going to talk about how we’ve personified money as this entity you can never be good enough for, never work enough for, never reach high enough expectations for. If this sounds familiar, here’s your reminder: money is not a person! Society is the thing that is demanding your perfection, and it’s up to us to challenge this as the real humans that we are - flaws, strengths, and everything on the table.
Listen to the episode to hear me chat about how to do this, and why the typical idea of professionalism is the idea of what is professional is largely racist, sexist, homophobic, ageist, ableist, fatphobic bullshit. You can make money with ease exactly as you are, right now.
Interested in learning how to do this? Take a look at Plenty More, my hybrid program where you can learn how discovering your business’s unique fingerprint will bring ease and flow to your money making: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/plentymore-signup
QUOTES “We have muddled up society deeming us worthy with us BEING worthy, both from a kind of more existential, ‘what am I worth as a human’, but also from an absolute self-worth place. And then in turn… we've muddled that up with us deserving or being given permission to make money.”
“I think it's professional to be polite and kind - that doesn't mean unboundaried. I think it's professional to deliver on what you said you would deliver. I think it's professional to speak to people with respect. You can do that with your hair looking anyway, you can do that in any accent, in any body.”
“If you're feeling pressure and if you're thinking, ‘I don't quite fit into this’, there are loads of ideal clients also feeling that way. And if you can present them with something else, they will flock to you.”
“Changing how we feel about money demands our imperfection.”
01 Feb 2023 | A Business Built on Trust | 00:34:53
Building trust in your business can feel like a minefield of questions. Maybe you’re someone who worries that building trust feels manipulative, like you’re trying to make your clients feel a certain way. Every time you post, go live, have a sales call, you worry about perceptions: am I ‘professional’ enough? Does being ‘professional’ equal trust? Am I being visible in the ‘right’ way?
If any of these thoughts have crossed your mind, tune in for the discoveries I’ve made around getting comfortable with showing up in your business as the complete and evolving human you are.
When it comes down to it, trust is a biproduct of you being you. It’s all about inviting people who are drawn to the authentic you (and being comfortable repelling those who aren’t!). That way you’ll create an audience full of people who want to buy from you… listen in for tips on how to put this to action within your business!
Interested in joining my group program Real You Real Money? DM me on instagram at @ray_dodd or email me at hey@raydodd.co.uk
QUOTES “The question is not, is it manipulative to build trust with people before they buy? The question is, what are you doing? Because can it be manipulative? Sure. If it's done in in the wrong ways. But are you actually being manipulative? What is your intent?”
“We get it into our heads with these people that we've gathered to our audience: what if we put someone off? They're either gonna buy, or they're gonna go. Those are their two options. We're gonna make them buy, but if they're there and they're staying, that's their choice.”
“The energy I want you to embody with all of this is that they come to you. It's ‘they come to you’ energy.”
“When you know that there are plenty of people, you are free to just continue speaking to the ones that you do connect with”
19 Oct 2021 | 2021 has been hard... and here‘s what to do about it | 00:23:23
I’ve been thinking about the beginning of the pandemic a lot, and what it meant to businesses like mine. There was a sense that navigating 2020 would mean ‘something’. Something uniquely special to small businesses, to limited companies, to sole-traders and anyone navigating this new territory with only a small team by their side… and in some cases, even alone. If I could successfully survive, it would be ‘something’ to tell. 13 Sep 2023 | I’m breaking up with ethics | 00:49:31
…because I think we’re doing this whole ethics thing wrong. If you’re coming into the online space with good intentions (and most of us are!), selling can quickly become a vortex of do’s and don’ts: show up every day, but don’t flood people’s inboxes. Share your offers clearly and consistently, but make sure there’s never any pressure to buy. Be visible… oh wait… not that visible… too much!
There’s a lot of pressure to be percieved as ethical, while a lot of the time these new, unspoken rules around ethics are arbitrary and ultimately not useful for anyone involved! Listen in as I break down ethical selling’... and then break up with it once and for all.
QUOTES
“We end up replacing one set of rules for another set of rules. And we're not asking ourselves, ‘What do I think? What's going on in the context of what I'm doing?’ “Ethics is subjective. We do not get to say this is ethical because you put it in a different context and it won't be. And we do not get to say what isn't ethical for the very same reason. So when we're talking about, ‘I'm an ethical marketer’, or ‘I'm an ethical seller’, what do I mean ethical? To who and when? And why?”

Mara brings her experience as an intuitive coach and writer who helps humans stop abandoning themselves and start embracing their needs and honouring their natural energy rhythms.
We put the negative connotations around the word ‘needy’ to rest and discuss how to approach and fulfil your needs instead of pushing them away. We also dive into the differences and connections between needs and desires, and how listening to both can help preserve your energy for the things that really light you up.

QUOTES “What am I wanting from somebody else that I am unable or unwilling to give to myself and what's going on there?”
“It's impossible that all of us are gonna get our needs met all of the time. But too often that means we shut off the tap and we just say, “if I can't get all of my needs met, then I'm not gonna get any of my needs met,” which is a recipe for disaster”
“There needs to be a certain amount of groundedness inside of you. Confidence. And for me, confidence is ‘Am I well fed? Am I rested?’ If I'm doing too many things, if I feel too scattered, then I'm more likely to show up in such a way that feels really scattered.”
“How we're talking to ourselves on a daily basis, how we talk about ourselves to other people, every word we utter has the ability to either build or break self-trust.”
“The more we can divest from what is stereotypically deemed as trustworthy and allow ourselves to take up space as we are, the more room that we make for more human expression. Being a human is messy business, so why do we pretend that the only people amongst us who are allowed to speak with authority are these figures of the patriarchy?”

RUTH
“Being myself and honouring my desires in my business… can be really confronting and sometimes you need to take breaks from stretching. But it is a privilege because this is the life I want to live, and I want to be myself in my life. And for me, my business has been the vehicle for that.”
“I think the hardest thing is trusting yourself to try things, because you don't know how they're gonna feel until you actually try them.”
“What I mean by Soulful Sales is selling in integrity with yourself. And obviously we've all had bad sales experiences and we've all had pushy people. We've all been ripped off - some of us have been scammed really badly. It's also true that selling as a whole does not have to be done one certain way. So Soulful Selling means selling in alignment with your own self, which includes your values, what you think is right or wrong, but also your energy levels – selling in a way that you can get behind.”
RAY “It's so important to just sit with who we are rather than constantly be striving. I think we are conditioned to do the striving to fit ourselves into the shape of other people we've seen as successful. Instead, let’s give ourselves that space to sit with who we actually are and what actually works for us and where we feel resistance.”
10 May 2023 | Why the Real You Makes Real Money | 00:40:25
The name of this episode. The name of this podcast. The name of my mastermind. There’s a reason that the phrase “real you real money” is at the centre of my work – it’s the philosophy that I have seen success with time and time again in my clients' moneymaking (and my own!).
The “real you” is everywhere: it’s in your systems, in how you market your business, in the way you run your day to day. It’s in your own idiosyncrasies, your desires, it’s that flow that works specifically for you.
Of course these things can be hard to see; perfectionism and social conditioning can get in the way of making the money that we want to make. We hold ourselves back because of it, we hide the things that might just be the greatest, shiniest bits of ourselves... not to mention add ease to our moneymaking.
When you feel the pressure to conform, remember that you can trust yourself to make and to handle money exactly as you are. Tune in for my three steps on how to do just that!

“It's not possible for us to produce the amount we're supposed to produce, certainly not, and certainly not people who work for themselves and don't have a social media team or just an extra person. It's not possible to do that.”
“Sometimes it can be like our business has a personality, a shape, and a form of its own. And so how you respond to it is important, like when are the two of you most matched? When is it working for you?”
“The very thing that is working so beautifully for one person, another person will try and it will land flat on its face.”

QUOTES
“We can't build audiences in the same way as we could five years ago. As a culture, we are fed up of constant streams of content. We've got content shock. We've got social media shock. We are so much savvier – we can spot all these tricks and things, and we are really pissed off when we fall for them. But if you are actually in conversation, in community with the people that you are trying to serve, you serve them a hell of a lot better because you actually know what they want, what they need, where they're struggling and where they're falling down, and how you can help them.”
“The key, really, is to learn how to be okay, or know that you will be okay if people don't love you. If you are just showing up and you are just like, here I am. If you want it, it's here. If you don't, bye. Having and cultivating that sort of feeling is the secret to universe”
“In the online space, but also in business in general, there’s this idea that if you are not growing, you're dying. So constant growth on growth, on growth, on growth, for no purpose other than to amass more and more and more, it's a never ending thing. That's not really relevant for those of us who are running little one person or, you know, one or two people businesses from the comfort of our own homes.”
“The first thing you could do is to make sure that you have your own platforms in place. The stuff that you own - stuff that you have complete control over: an email list, a blog, something that doesn't rely on the whims of anybody who is offering you a free service and using you as a content farm to make billions off your labour.”
“I don't feel like you do have to earn the right to sell. You're a business, you're allowed to make money. I do think you have to earn the right to people's attention. I don't think you're entitled to anything there. But I don't think you have to earn the right to sell.”
22 Sep 2022 | What is fuelling your business - fear or purpose? | 00:25:21
Today I’m talking about different patterns of motivation that I see when coaching… and in my own business! There’s a lot of conversations around the relationship that privilege has to the ability to grow your business. I’ve seen posts floating around - especially recently - that imply, and sometimes all out state, that it will be vastly harder to build a business that earns life changing amounts of money if you don’t already have money backing you. But as usual, there is so much more nuance to this… so let’s get into it!
From experience in my own business, I know that some of my most significant motivation comes from my business and income being a necessity for my family. This has meant that my biggest potential to make more money has grown from a place where I had the least. In a similar way, it can be really complicated to embody the space that leads to the money you desire if you have security – there’s a lot of conditioning to challenge, as it can be easier to push your own desires aside, to charge less and give more, if charging more feels optional.
There is a give and take on either end of this spectrum, from not letting your anxiety be in the driver’s seat of your motivation, to finding the self belief to claim your space for no other reason than your own desire. And this all feels like a very small summary of a billion very complex and individual situations!
There are so many facets to motivation and money because there are so many facets to our lives and experiences as individuals… which is why it’s so important to really work through your thoughts, feelings and actions around money in a supportive and open space. A space where you can bring your full self into every aspect of your money making.

QUOTES “I wanted to be an entrepreneur without knowing it. I wanted to run my own business. I had all these different ideas, but never the confidence to really see them through.”
“I would suggest that this is what happened with my businesses multiple times: one foot out enough to probably announce it or do something about it. Foot back in, run, run, run, terrified.”
“I've read a number of posts particularly recently that really suggests that you're gonna find it very, very hard to make money unless you have money backing you. And I really do think that there are elements of that that are true, but acting like it's the full story really bothers me.”
“If your business grew out of a divorce, a tricky financial situation, a whatever, the fuel that you put into it at the beginning - this is certainly true for me - is fear and anxiety and running. There is a sense for me of trying to outrun the tricky circumstances, of how can I fix this? But I can no longer worry about all these different things. I just have to do it. Unravelling myself from that place of being fuelled by fear, that has been long.”
“Generous does not mean low. Generous might mean not underestimating what your clients are willing to spend, what they want to spend, what is gonna be impactful for them to spend. That's what generous can look like. Generous can look like putting aside all of your conditioning, all of your fear around charging more because you know the impact it's gonna have on that client or that customer to invest in themselves. That's generous. Generous is...
25 Apr 2024 | How the economy is (and isn’t) impacting your business | 00:28:15
If you’re running an independent business, it is almost impossible to avoid thinking about the current economy and how it’s effecting sales. I’ve seen so many people preparing for the worst, closing down their small businesses, or simply adjusting to the change in the market while looking back at the ‘e-commerce pandemic boom’ as a thing of the past.
It’s a lot to take in. And the good news is, you do have control over a lot of how you move forward. That’s why today, I’m breaking down the misconceptions and misunderstandings about how something like a recession, a cost of living crisis, or an economic downturn can impact our businesses, and what we can do about it.
QUOTES
“There has never been more ways to make this work, even though what we're being told is that there's never been less ways.”
“If somebody chooses to work with you, you have to trust them. It's not your business to decide who should or shouldn't be working with you or how people should or shouldn't spend their money.”
“People do get more discerning when there is this general scarcity in the air. It’s a bit chicken and egg.”
25 Nov 2022 | Double your Income in 2023! | 00:16:32
I usually avoid phrases like this because if you know me, you know I’m not a huge fan of income guarantees. The way you approach and feel about money making is too nuanced to hold yourself to specific amounts, goals, and percentages without the context of all the mindset work that goes into getting there.
But as I’ve been talking to you all during my most recent launch of Plenty, I’ve noticed so many people coming to me with the same inkling, the same spark, the same desire: to double their income in 2023.
So I’m diving right in, because what’s happening here feels very different than an empty financial promise. Instead, we’re looking at how to set a goal, then mentally step into a space where you can embrace and achieve that goal just as you are!
We have been conditioned out of having easy access to our desires, and I just know that 2023 is going to be the year that so many of you take hold of them… and most importantly, do it in a way that is distinctly you-shaped.

02 Nov 2022 | Coaching, therapy and everything in between with Lizandra Leigertwood | 00:42:27
I’m so excited to have Lizandra Leigertwood on the podcast today to bring some amazing perspective on the relationship between therapy and coaching! Lizandra talks about her experience as a psychotherapist and relationship therapist, and some of the challenges she sees when people are either considering or entering therapy.
We both notice that the amount of people who quickly look for therapy after starting their own business is huge! Lizandra and I start to unpack this, looking at the ways that opening up different parts of yourself can be beneficial and freeing for both your business and personally…even if it can be hard work at times.
We talk about common fears around therapy, how to not be intimidated by the language around growth and healing, and feelings of uncertainty that I’m sure we all get when we show up in a therapeutic environment.
Lizandra also gives great insight as a therapist observing money goals within the coaching world and gives her thoughts on how to follow your path when it comes to money making.
Lizandra works in private practice, helping those who are sensitive big-hearted souls to navigate their way through limiting beliefs, people pleasing and emotional childhood trauma. You can find her at:

QUOTE “I think there's a real fear of the unknown. And a fear towards change as well. And it's also putting yourself again in a vulnerable position. You can't really hide a lot in therapy”
“Part of the therapist's job is to keep you together so that you don't completely unravel. That's part of the process.”
“I try to do a combination of both therapy and coaching. Cause I think it, it's, you get different things from different just modalities and different experiences.”
“Sometimes uncovering either things from childhood or how it's impacting your relationships and then not being able to find a way to move forward…you can [fall into] using self-blame instead of uncovering - what is the root issue? It's a lot of putting a plaster over the situation and then not really dealing with what's going on underneath.”
07 Sep 2022 | Owning Higher Prices | 00:20:34
Part of showing up as the real you in your business is embracing the value of your work, which of course shows up in your pricing! I work with a lot of people who are worried about charging more because they are interested in being generous or accessible. They mix that generosity up with charging less for what they do… I’ll admit I can get caught in the same trap!
Lowering or raising your prices has no reflection on the person that you are – it means nothing about your kindness. The truth is that money is not stagnant, and we all have the ability to earn more and invest more, which means that there is certainly space for you to price your work in a way that invites people to invest!
The reasons people under-price their work can range from worries about the industry that surrounds them – I know plenty of coaches who worry about the perception of their field– or even a market that undervalues your work, like crafters who feel they cannot charge fairly for what takes huge amount of time and material costs.
Tune in for tips on how you can challenge the ideas of what you can and can’t charge!

QUOTES “All the generous, loving, kind, wonderful humans who see that there are problems in the coaching industry – and there are – if they all say ‘I'm not gonna call myself a coach,’ then when everyone goes to google ‘coach’, when everyone goes to hire a coach, when people are looking for somebody, they're not gonna find you and your version that marks you out, in that space you've created from yourself that separates you from who those other people.”
“If all the people who are interested in being generous and ethical and all of those things, who are interested in justice, just charge lower amounts cause they believe that's right, what's gonna happen for the people that want to charge more?”
“The market price of crafts is low because that work is undervalued. And then people check the market value and they go: well, it's this much. But I would argue the market value is wrong. The market value is created on patriarchal, misogynistic, problematic paradigms. And so what happens is that gets perpetuated. And women or anybody who is involved in that area of making that art form are stuck in a loop of ‘how do I get out of this?”
“What are we saying is available to that person, if we always charge lower amounts because that's all we believe they can afford? What am I saying in my work if I do the same?”
“The price is just the price. There is no greater meaning on it. It's just what it is. It doesn't make you a better or worse person if you charge more or less. And I think that's really important to say, cause I think sometimes online we get the opposite message. We get the message that it makes you a better person if you charge more and we also get the message that it makes you a worse person, but it actually doesn't make any difference to who you are.”

"Failure is just part of the journey. Sometimes you do things that either go right, that either go wrong. That's just the flip of the coin."
"Can mums really have it all? I don't think anyone can... I think you can have what you desire, but I don't think it looks necessarily like 'having it all' in that way."
"For me, balance is such a triggering word. It conveys that everything has to be of equal amounts at all times. The word that I relate to more is harmony. It allows that sense of flow, fluidity. Sometimes I need to be more with my kids as opposed to my business. Sometimes I'm working more on my business than time with my kids and that's okay."

QUOTES “There's so much that we could make hard, or we can just rip the plaster off, get started, and do it our way so that it is based on things that we're naturally good at and that feel aligned.”
“Energy, being yourself, and allowing yourself to create products that you want to sell and feel really good to you… if you're not doing any of that and you're just going, ‘here's my product, do you want to buy it?’ you are really limiting yourself to only the people who that day woke up, got on the internet and started googling.”
“We have to be talking about our products. We have to be so clear about what they are… and really develop this natural conversation, these natural anchor points. We can't theorize everything in notepads and then never quite take the plunge.”

11 Apr 2024 | Visibility is NOT one size fits all | 00:37:59
I’m returning after a little hiatus, and with me is the brilliant Lauren Currie! Lauren is the Founder of UPFRONT, and is on a mission to change confidence for 1 million women. An all-around powerhouse, Lauren has been awarded an OBE for her services to design and diversity. Together we look at visibility from all angles, especially the ones that are trickier to navigate. From the positives of learning to own your work and show up as yourself, to the less explored complexity of privacy, safety, and pressure, we break down what it really means for people from all walks of life to show up online. Ever notice how visibility is an ‘obligation’ that seems to fall on female business owners? Then this episode is for you…
You can find out more about Lauren here:
QUOTES “You can be private and authentic at the same time.”
“I think with female founders, the world wants to know everything about you. It's like: I'm going to decide if I'm your customer or not based on where you live, who you're in a relationship with, how you parent. I think it’s risky and we're only just starting to scratch the surface of what the consequences are for the women in these positions.”
“When you end up with a life that's so different to the life that you came from, how do you keep progressing?”
“Why do I need to be camera ready every day when I'm trying to actually build a business? I look at male founders in the same position as me and they are not doing that.”
08 Feb 2023 | Dealing with the Money Wobbles | 00:25:47
Time for a money pep talk! Today I’m giving you a little preview of what I’m calling our Money Quest in my group course Plenty (because if you haven’t heard, I’m all about fantasy fiction…love a good dragon).
Let’s say you’ve started your Money Quest - you know you want to earn more and you’re setting off on the journey there. By doing this, you’re already stepping outside what you’ve been conditioned is possible for you, which is a huge step forward.
But the decision to go on this quest can come with wobbles in itself. There are so many fears that come up around deciding that you want to make more money, and your subconscious brain is working overtime to keep you safe and protect you from change, which it often perceives as dangerous.
Your system needs to learn that it’s safe to try new things, have wobbles, and work through them. Despite our conditioning, it is absolutely ok to have emotions within your business, and learn to process, feel, and regulate them in a way that works for you.
Tune in for tips on how to navigate the wobbles!

Quotes “If we never feel discomfort, we are not going to move through that discomfort and normalize things. We are not going be scared these things for the whole of our lives.”
“Discomfort doesn't mean we stop. In fact, in order to move away from the discomfort we have to move through it.”
“Our conditioning, society shows us this very stoic level, unemotional idea of business. We're often coming out of corporate spaces and creating our own space, but that conditioning remains.”
“Trust yourself. You can hold more difficult feelings than you imagined because you've held all the difficult feelings you've ever had.”
08 Mar 2023 | Leaving Struggle Behind | 00:33:00
When you hear the word ‘struggle’, it wouldn’t be surprising to associate it with something undesirable, or something that you would want to avoid. But when we really dive into our relationship to it, our connection to struggle can be something that we attach ourselves to.
Our struggles can feel like a real, tangible way to anchor ourselves, especially when society’s perception of success relies on self-criticism to motivate growth, and hard work as a measuring stick for value.
This creates a whole lot of complex and ultimately damaging dynamics, like using anxiety as fuel, toxic productivity, and thinking that more work equals more money.
It's important to remember that fear is not a sustainable strategy, so if you’ve ever found your motivation dwindling as your self-acceptance grows, tune in for advice!

“My brain now knows that feeling that level of terror does not mean that we are actually in an emergency situation. What it means is that I'm having a sensation. What it means is that my nervous system is disregulated. What it means is that I have some feelings that I need to speak to and talk to.”
“The most complete version of you welcomes all those different parts, not just the “highest self”. That's a part of you, but your grounded self knows to bring in all parts and to allow them to really flourish and be that most full version of yourself.”
“As my clients start to share the things that make them unique with their audience, as they really lean into who they are, as they bring their values into their business and they show up for those values and they communicate those values through their content, through their offerings, through their products, through all of it, the work becomes easier.”
08 Dec 2021 | Why I’m No Longer Using the Word ‘Mindset’ | 00:23:38
‘Mindset’.
I know I’ve said the word before. I know so many of us use it every day. And it’s no wonder… it can be hard to find the right words!
I’ve had an inkling that I’ve wanted to replace this word in my business vocabulary for a while. It’s never felt exactly right, and it places too much of the blame on what we are or more significantly, what we are not doing. Whether its referring to money making or self-care or growing your business or what have you, if you believe your ‘mindset’ isn’t right, it feels an awful lot like you’re to blame. And we all know that’s not true!
In this episode, I break down a revelation I had after a recent post by Keri Jarvis (who's also scrapping 'mindset'!), and why I’m replacing the M word and focusing on the nuance of our conditioning instead. After all, we can’t ignore the fact that every single one of us brings an entirely unique life experience to our business and money making. All the more reason to make room for you as a whole person, flaws and all, instead of trying to squeeze ourselves into the idea of a perfect mindset. Our ‘conditioning’ certainly shouldn’t stop us from making money. And luckily, unlike the vague ‘mindset’, you can look at your conditioning, your past and the messages you carry about yourself and learn to navigate them.
If you’re looking to challenge your conditioning around goal setting, check out my FREE Anti Goals Workshop! It will be live on 9 December at noon, but a replay will be available for anyone who can’t join live. All you have to do is sign up here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/anti-goals-workshop

“Notice where you hold privilege, but also notice where you lack it. Notice where actually, that wasn't as easy for you for whatever reason, rather than always being like, ‘oh my mindset's just not good’.”
“There is a difference between having a scarcity mindset and understanding that you live in a world built on scarcity. There is a difference between feeling like you have to fix the scarcity inside you and learning how to navigate the scarcity that… you walk around in every day.”
“We need to notice the patterns that we find ourselves in. Notice the thoughts that we give power to and the thoughts that we don't give power to. The ways in which we undermine ourselves, the ways in which we apologise for ourselves… What underpins those is our conditioning. And what we are unravelling is our conditioning, not this incorrect mindset.”

30 Nov 2023 | I missed my income goal (by a lot) | 00:41:10
In this episode, I’m bringing you a big confession. Last year, I set out to double my income in 2023… and it didn’t happen.
Not meeting a goal brings up a lot of questions for all of us – should I feel shame? Should I feel like I did something wrong? Did I do something wrong?
I can tell you from experience, the answer to all three of those questions is a big resounding no. I may not have hit the numbers I set out to, but this year has taught me exactly what I needed to know.
I’m entering 2024 with something that will serve me even more than a doubled income - I’m making more space for myself and my goals, making big plans and giving them the big time they need, and accepting that the ups and downs of running a business are a reality… and not a shameful one!
Listen in and let’s normalise embracing the unique timing of your business.
QUOTE
“When we decide that we want to hit a goal… we do not know what we do not know. We don't know what it's going to take, what we're going to need to go through to get to where we're going.”
“Some of you are so focused on your business only being legit once you're making money, that that's the only problem you try and solve. The reason you're not making the money you want to make is because you're not showing up as the embodied version of yourself.”
“Deal with each issue at a time. Make that boring plan.”

01 Aug 2024 | Is Mindset Relevant in 2024? | 00:31:02
If you’re up to date with coaching industry trends, you may have noticed a big uptick in ‘do it my way’ marketing - people selling the one solution that will skyrocket your business to success. If you’re a long time listener, you may have already guessed that I’m NOT a fan of one size fits all solutions.
In this episode, I’m diving into the mentality that leads people to lean on step by step techniques, how these methods are rooted in scarcity, and the mindset alternatives that will provide much more longevity and ease to your money making. Tune in for tips on how to gain a deeper understanding of your business beliefs and where they come from, plus how to use these to be a discerning consumer of advice and coaching.
QUOTES
"My very first discovery of Mindset was mindblowing to me, this concept that I had control over my brain, that I didn't just have to accept these thoughts and beliefs that didn't feel like they fit me. I got to choose my beliefs about myself rather than just feeling like I was a victim to them."
"There's a need for control, a need for steadiness - because we don't have it, we're trying to create it. What we really need for that stability is to find it internally, and mindset work is part of a way that we can do that."
"Group coaching is an amazing thing when it comes to money because one of the biggest things holding us back from feeling good about money is shame. One of the key ways that we remove shame is by sharing in groups, by understanding that we're not alone."

Get ready for an episode that’s a little meta, where I interview my own coach Amanda Ranae! I love working with Amanda because we have so many things in common when it comes to our coaching philosophy. Most of all, we both believe that you don’t need to be anything different to be successful— your magic lies in growing more and more into who YOU are!

“What happens when we start to approach ourselves more like a plant. If the plant is struggling we're never like, “what is wrong with you?!” We always look at: what's wrong with your environment? What's wrong with the nutrients that you're getting? That feeling that you're talking about that we love so much about growth is there's nothing wrong with us.”
“Do things that you love, build up what you're great at, and accept all the parts of you. I love saying it's just as important to own who you're not as it is to own who you are, because when we own who we're not, it connects us deeply with the fact that we're not supposed to be everything.”
“It really takes audacity within ourselves to own our appetite— to have an appetite, whether it's food, for money, for love, for sex, as someone who was conditioned as a woman or currently expresses and still identifies as a woman. It takes so much radical reclamation because one of the strongest messages is shrink down.”
26 Apr 2023 | Exploring Human Design with Jazreena Harlow | 00:58:31
I am so excited to share today’s episode with you as it’s quite a departure from our usual topics here on Real You Real Money. I don’t typically discuss the spiritual side of coaching – a big part of this is because of my own caution around the more toxic sides of manifesting culture. But as I challenge my own biases around spirituality, I’ve started to discover so many nuances, which is why I’m absolutely delighted to have my guest Jazreena Harlow here to chat through it all!
Jazz is the founder behind the brand Radiant Wisdom. She is a creative, educator, guide & coach who works within a mix of dynamic modalities, including Life Coaching, Human Design, Sound Healing and even Personal Branding to tune up the dial on your inner radiance.
This is a great episode for anyone who is cautious around spirituality, or even curious but unsure where to begin (or of course, just those who love to hear about it!). Tune in for a conversation on what exactly Human Design is, and the concrete ways it works within both your life and business.

QUOTES
“Human design doesn't necessarily tell you anything that you don't already know about yourself. It just reconfirms and validates things that you already know to be true but don't trust yourself on.”
“We all just do what serves us at the time. And if it helps us to bring us closer to being your most authentic self, then lean into it. Ask for guidance and support from people that you can trust. Otherwise, leave it alone. If it doesn't resonate, that's okay.”
“Human design is just a little bit more granular. You can use the information in a way that is practical to help you make decisions as opposed to thinking, ‘I need to be more like this.’ It actually helps with decision making, kind of like an awareness tool.”
“There's a level of acceptance that we all have to work with and navigate in ourselves when we find we are dismissing our own internal communication of spirituality.”
08 Feb 2024 | Why your money beliefs impact how many sales you make | 00:29:48
In this episode, I’m breaking down why your money mindset is directly linked to your sales. You may not realise it when you’re writing that sales email or editing that reel, but how you show up and sell in your business is directly related to how you feel about money, your potential to make it, and the role it plays in your life… not to mention in the world.
Tune in for insights on how improving your money mindset can help you meet your sales goals, plus lots more on taking up space and giving ourselves permission to sell.
And remember, Sell That Thing starts on February 12! Here’s the link with all the info: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/sell-that-thing
QUOTES “My view on selling is that you are inviting people into your world, and yes there's an exchange of money in there, but the exchange of money is not the thing.”
“You're also gonna want to figure out how to sell without compromising who you are so that the whole of you gets to show up in selling. When you do that, you are going to attract the best fit people for you.”
“We often conflate selling and unkindness. People feel like the more they go out and sell, somehow they're adding more bad to the world... You are adding good to the world, really falling in love with what you do in terms of making the world a better place.”
16 Feb 2023 | The Era of Acting Against Conditioning | 00:15:38
Today, I’m diving in and asking why: why is it so hard to fully step into your business? Why do we hold back? Why is our conditioning making us play small? Why is it so difficult to focus on what we want?
And then, the biggest question of them all: What am I going to do that’s different than what I’m doing? What am I going to do to challenge that conditioning and make the money I want to make in my business?
Tune in for advice on how to build the sense that you’re safe in your business and create evidence that you can do this even when things are hard. You are still here, and you can absolutely hold all your fears and contradictions, and work through them as you show up as YOU!
Quotes “I want you to always remember all the money that you want to make can come in one day, in one week, through one email. In order for that to happen, you need to be making those offers more than once.”
“I can do this even when I'm scared. Being scared, having fear, feeling certain ways does not disqualify me from showing up.”
“The patriarchy has conditioned us to only be okay with one thing. There is no “both” in the patriarchy. There isn't even man and woman — not even an incredibly narrow gender binary. There is just one: mono. One thing. Pass it down to people that look like us, sound like us, act like us. That's all that happens.”
15 Feb 2024 | We’re in this together: Why your money community matters | 00:22:13
Today we’re talking about how the people around you impact the kind of money you can make. From the influences you absorbed growing up, to clients’ opinions on affordability, to the type of businesses you aspire toward, it seems like you can’t turn a corner without someone else’s money beliefs jumping out to inform or challenge your own.
So how do we surround ourselves with money beliefs that will build us up and help us make the money we desire? Tune in for insight on the importance of a supportive money community, plus more on the unique inherited challenges that those of us historically left out of moneymaking face.
QUOTES “I do think making money is harder for people who've traditionally been left out of money making. Imagine the people not in the cigar room drinking the brandy. The mental gymnastics that we have to do, the unravelling of the conditioning is broader and louder.”
“One of the reasons communities are so impactful is we share power. We share power in communities. We share information, we share mistakes and failures. We share wins, we share wobbles,
“Making more money is vulnerable. It's so vulnerable. And you do not need to hold that alone.”
03 Feb 2022 | Is it rest you’re looking for? | 00:10:58
In this episode, I’m talking about the concept of ‘more’. If you’re familiar with my work, you know this is something I talk a lot about in my content, in my coaching, in my own business, really in everything I do.
For some though, it may be a strange time to be talking about having more – we’ve just experienced two years of a pandemic. We’ve been confronted with enough of the unexpected, enough struggle, enough overwhelm… I completely understand why you might shy away from the word ‘more’ when it’s been two years of ‘enough already’.
Which is why I’m here to tell you that more money does NOT have to mean more hours, more pushing, more effort, more hard work. In fact, my concept of more actually means less of all of those things.
Tune in for more chat how feeling safe around money can lead to more energy, more time, and more alignment with what you do and offer – more of all the right things!
If you’re interested in coaching that will help you bring more to your business, my program Plenty More may be perfect for you! Click here for all the details of what’s included, or here to book a free call with me to chat through whether Plenty More is right for you.
QUOTES “When I say there's more available to you, I don't mean more hard work. I don't mean that in getting more, you have to have less energy. I don't mean that getting more money has to involve more and more and more pushing and trying… that's what we want less of.”
“One of the biggest myths that exists when it comes to making more money is the idea that it has to take up more energy, that you have to work harder to get it.”
“When we look at the fact that money is so intrinsically linked to our very survival: it's what puts food in our mouths. It's what puts a roof over our head. We can't pretend it’s not. Some people try to, I think that's a very difficult thing to do and often a very privileged thing to do.”
“What's the resistance I'm feeling? What's the alignment issues here? Get clear on what is, and isn't aligned with you - why you want to make money. Why you can be trusted with money. Where you are holding yourself back by trying to prove what you're not and what you are?"
21 Sep 2023 | The Wealthy Artist (and why it IS possible) with Ali Mapletoft | 00:39:56
The Thriving Artists with Ali Mapletoft
My guest today is the brilliant Ali Mapletoft, who supports gifted artists, performers and visionaries to generate elevated visibility, make bolder work, and live a prosperous life without losing their essence.
Ali takes us on a deep dive into the intricacies of making money and being visible as an artist… in a world where algorithms and marketability are unavoidable, self-expression isn’t as easy for artists as it may seem! Tune in for some amazing insights on the intersection between creativity and business, that apply even if you aren’t specifically working in the arts. And if you are, have a listen to find out where the myth of the ‘struggling artist’ comes from…and why it is absolutely possible to be a THRIVING artist instead.
You can find out more about Ali at
QUOTES 'Because we almost think algorithmically ourselves and perceive and observe what gets praise and what doesn't, we're actually able to kind of code ourselves to be inoffensive and popular. When we code ourselves to be in offensive and popular, we lose part of that innate kind of magic of self-expression.'
‘We do have a very ingrained idea of the struggling artist. And part of that is just an 18th century romanticisation of that archetype.’
‘You can't run away from yourself when you're running a business, because you'll be confronted daily with uncomfortable things about you.’
‘When you hit a patch in the road that's hard, you can go into this kind of resistance of, “I'm not gonna go down that path. I'm not even gonna try.” It's not self-doubt as such. It's this impatience that, “I should already have the rewards. I should already have the money, the followers, the clients, the record deal.” And that's a very real thing.’

24 May 2023 | The Freeing Truth about Intuition with Giulia Mazzola | 00:45:56
My guest today is the wonderful Giulia Mazzola!
Giulia is a life coach for empathetic, imaginative creatives. She helps them channel their superpower – imagination – away from anxiety and overwhelm and into creating the life they want.
In this episode, Giulia and I are taking a close look at the reasons that so many of us reject our intuition, and the societal messages that tell us intuition is something that’s too abstract or to separate from intellect and reason.
We’re busting these myths by discussing where intuition really comes from, and how to embrace and follow yours!

“Magic is simply possibility. It's the possibility of things being different. Of being another way. Of the opening and expansion of things that we haven't even seen yet.”
“You are conditioned through your habits which have been bred by society, and your nervous system, your physical responses to fear and trauma. You have these ingrained habits that lead you down specific roads… And when I think of magic, I think of bringing imagination in so that you begin to slowly carve new pathways and open things up.”
“We are tricked into thinking that complexity is always the answer. In fact, the elegance and simplicity of it is what your brain will discount so that you don't do it.”

QUOTES
“Talking to people is a marketing channel.”
“I tell myself this big story that making money isn't easy. It's got to be a result of hard work. Even now I get triggered when I see people that I perceive to be finding it super easy. I’m still unpicking this, and I think it’s down to the general rules that we hear online about how you make money.”
“What's actually going to work? What's not procrastinating? They're often the smaller tasks that we don't think of. We think of a launch, we don't think of just DMing a person.”
“Think of your marketing funnel like a funnel shape: it's got three main sections to it. But first of all, people need to discover you to know you even exist. Then once they've connected with you, they need to get to know, like, and trust you. They need to connect with you on an emotional level, and then they need to find out about what you offer and how they can buy it. I think where we often get stuck is we sit in that nurture zone in the middle. We're not doing enough to bring new people in.”

16 Nov 2021 | My Journey with Self-trust | 00:15:50
Today, I’m talking about the things that made me realise that I was lacking self-trust… something that I would not have known if it wasn’t for some guidance! When the pandemic hit, I was filled with the same uncertainty that I know so many of us were. I found a lot of support in therapy and started working through those sneaky cultural lies that cause a foundation self-doubt and denial.
In this episode, I dive into finding the why behind self-trust, and how you can put a name to those specific qualities behind who you are that allow you to trust yourself.
After the exhaustion and uncertainty of 2021, we are all in need of an invitation to trust ourselves again, to trust that these huge world events do not change who we are fundamentally. They do not change what we’re good at, what our ethics are, they do not mean that the other shoe will always drop. Instead of letting the world cause doubt, we need to strengthen our foundation through the facts of who we are.
If this sounds like an invitation you want to give yourself, take a look at my course Money Makers. I created this course specifically in response to how we are all feeling in this moment, and the desire to create a new year where we can stand confidently in ourselves and in our businesses.
Money Makers is a short, 4-week course and community, where you’ll learn 4 trust zones to come back to that will allow you to trust your ability to make money no matter what is happening in the world around you.
Find more here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/money-makers

“I was able to be like, hang on: Who am I? What do I do? What can I trust about myself? What do I know I will and won't do? What are my, I guess, ethics in this situation? What can I stand by about myself? It was an invitation to trust myself more.”
“You are the thing that matters in this. How things work for you. What matters to you, what you're passionate about, what excites you, what sort of people you like connecting with. That is at the centre, that is the core of your business. But unless we trust and connect with that with ourselves, we will continue to just outsource our power over and over and over again.”
02 Jun 2022 | From Wellness to Business to Social Media (and back!) with Vicky Shilling | 00:43:43
This week I’m talking with the wonderful Vicky Shilling!
Vicky is a Wellness Business Mentor who helps health practitioners turn their expertise into income. We chat through how make the step from training and qualifying in health and wellness into the very practical side of running a business that lets you share that expertise. This can come with a dose of doubts too, which we touch on how to challenge: the worry about not knowing enough even after you qualify, the fear of judgment, the risk of transitioning from a more corporate environment into running your own business.
We also take a look at how to approach social media when starting or running your own business, and how to show up in a way that works for you, especially when considering the contradiction between wellness and the very fundamental way that social media functions!
Listen for some encouragement that there is no one size fits all solution, plus a bit on how Vicky found her own voice and business, which she also shares in her new book! Vicky is dedicated to making well-being solopreneurship as simple and supported as possible in a world of advice overwhelm through her Just Start Now podcast, community and 1:1 mentoring. If you want more info, take a look at these links: https://instagram.com/vicky.shilling https://facebook.com/vickyshillingcoaching
QUOTES “I don't think there was any one particular moment that I was like, boom! Like a sudden realisation. What I do and what I teach and what I did myself was to literally keep showing up and trying something.”
“I kept putting content out. I kept going to networking events. I kept saying yes to opportunities. I kept working with brands. I kept training and learning and doing more courses online, you know? Just to try and figure it out. What was my voice? What was it I was known for?”
“There’s this idea that you have to look a certain way and say things in a certain tone in order for people to take you seriously. People will take you seriously when you seriously start helping them. And that means… consistent and regular and reliable. Then that's when you get taken seriously, not because you have the perfect hair and makeup or the perfect backdrop on your video.”
“If you're going to stay the course, I say, give something a go for at least 90 days. If I'm going to do Instagram and I'm going to go live, I'm going to really consistently do that for a good length of time to really see how I feel about it. Do it over a length of time where you can process and learn from it, but don't just dismiss it out of hand.”
04 Jan 2023 | Selling through the Silence with Elizabeth Stiles | 00:37:47
I’m kicking off the first episode of 2023 with the brilliant Elizabeth Stiles! Elizabeth is a fashion & textiles brand consultant, who takes us on the journey of venturing into her own business after 15 years of experience as a buyer & sales manager for the likes of Next, New Look, River Island & Urban Outfitters. Through online courses focused on selling & visibility, Elizabeth helps launch & scale independent brands. We talk through how she built a business that’s let her follow her passion of helping creatives make more money, including the realisations that come with launching, visibility, and persistence when selling and marketing. Tune in for great advice on how to keep showing up even when reception feels quiet (and the benefits that will follow,) as well as how to find your footing in what you love to do.
You can find Elizabeth at https://www.instagram.com/elizabethstilesuk/
QUOTES “Selling has so many negative connotations to it… it's weird, it's pushy. But I was really good at selling and I was just nice. If people like you, they want to spend time with you. And then if they want to spend time with you, you can show them nice stuff. And if they like your nice stuff, then they'll buy it.”
“When it's quiet, those negative voices like to creep into that space of silence and fill it really, really loudly with, ‘Nobody wants to hear from you. Everyone's unsubscribing. Everyone's unfollowing.’ It can seem like that, but meanwhile there are other people following and other people subscribing.”
“How do you buy as a consumer? You are looking at something, and then your phone rings… and then you're looking at something else and the dinner's boiling over…the dog starts barking, the postman's here…the process could take like six weeks. But when we post one picture on Instagram and nobody buys anything, we throw our phones out the window. Calm down, have some patience with people.”

22 Mar 2023 | The impact of obsessing over client results | 00:30:43
Today I’m sharing the story of the journey I’ve taken with my course Real You Real Money... I’ll tell you now, this is a vulnerable one!
Real You Real Money has gone through an evolution with every round. As I reflect back, I can see how different sides of my own conditioning around money, selling, and worth cropped up as roadblocks along the way.
A big part of this was around client results, and an unrealistic sense that I should be able to guarantee a specific experience and transformation within my courses. This led to a whole lot of self-doubt, trying to outsource my magic, and standing in the way of sharing the true impact of the course.
The truth is that everyone who interacts with your services will have a different experience based on where they’re at in their own life and what happens outside of your time together. Whether you’re a coach, service provider, or even a product-based business, this one is for you if you’ve ever found yourself stuck in circles of trying to control the uncontrollable.

QUOTES
“Part of kindness at all costs is taking responsibility for so much more than it is possible for us to take responsibility for. As if I can create a program that somehow eradicates every single extra element that could come into someone's world while they're doing it - that's ridiculous.”
“If you have a good six months working with me, I will celebrate that. I will always be working with you to make sure in any way we can, that that's sustainable. That you are really drawing out of yourselves who you are, what works for you. I cannot make that happen, but I can ask the questions. Be that mirror for you.”
“If I focus on the idea that everybody HAS to get results, I am not making space for my clients as individuals with individual experiences and individual needs. I am putting myself at the forefront of that course creation.”
02 Feb 2024 | Your knee jerk money reactions (and what they can tell you) | 00:36:34
In this episode, I’m jumping into some sticky money territory… even for this podcast!
I work with so many clients that are incredibly conscious of the ethics of their money making. If you’re a listener, it’s likely that you fall into this category of beautifully big-hearted business owners!
While there’s obviously so many good things about striving for an ethical business, there are moments where your conditioning around money can masquerade as kindness and keep you from entering that big moneymaking space that you long to fill.
Tune in for the sideways lessons we can learn from ‘unethical money makers’, and how we can embrace the many definitions of an asset that don’t have to do with ownership.
QUOTES
“Sometimes I think our worry, our moralizing, our over commitment to what's ethical and what's not ethical is holding us back in ways it does not need to.”
“We need to put a little more thought in than ‘this feels not right’. We need to think more critically than that. Sometimes the ick is legit, and sometimes the ick is social conditioning in disguise, and it's keeping us broke.”
“The way that we've been conditioned is to believe that what money touches becomes bad or unkind is super interesting, because if we were just talking about community and we weren't thinking about what that community paying us, we wouldn't have these same thoughts. When we introduce selling (to a community), our footing becomes unstable and we don't really know what's okay anymore.”

29 Mar 2022 | Trusting Your Knowledge with Rebecca Mackay Miller | 00:32:44
This week, we’re back with another live coaching episode!
I’ll be chatting with brand and storytelling strategist Rebecca Mackay Miller. Rebecca founded her company Bloc + Rose to help business owners create fulfilling brands that feel right and do good through feminist strategies and the power of story.
We talk about that very sneaky imposter syndrome, the shift that happens when you go from the corporate world to running your own business, and the vulnerability of not being able to hide behind a bigger organisation.
As we work through the patterns we fall into when we try to hold power, Rebecca also drops some amazing insights on why storytelling is essential within small businesses, especially in the frame of greater cultural understanding and evolution.
A big thanks to Rebecca for coming on and sharing her journey! You can find Rebecca at: or on IG @blocandrose
QUOTES
REBECCA “I used to write thought leadership pieces. I used to do talks that marketing week. I loved it, but it was almost like it wasn't my [opinion]. It was my opinion, but it was protected by the shroud of this company name.”
“You own YOU. Your USP is you. What you have to bring is unique and that's what we dial up. That's what you step into”
“How can we evolve as individuals and people in a species if we're like: well, this is the way it's done. Because that actually goes against everything that it even is to be human.”
“Storytelling is so much more than a business tool. It's a responsibility because cultural narratives that have governed how we exist for however many years are rightly being dismantled…and people look everywhere for meaning, including small businesses and brands and people. So everything that we put out from a story point of view contributes to the making of the next cultural narrative.”
“Contributing and actually sharing what you think achieves the same thing, technically, because you are visible and showing up, but in a way that is far less connected to success.“
RAY “What is it that you think is holding you back from either starting this story or continuing writing the sequel, making it a trilogy?
“There’s this feeling of like: if I'm in a powerful position, I have to know it all. And actually, when we do that we are holding onto power that's not ours.”
“The power you feel like you need to have doesn't exist. So you don't need to have it.”
02 Dec 2021 | You Cannot Charge Your Worth | 00:17:18
I'll say it again: you cannot charge your worth. Controversial maybe, but I honestly believe that understanding this will release you to start making MORE money!
Linking your worth to your moneymaking can actually keep you stuck, particularly if you’re someone who isn’t able to see their own worth. You may end up in a space where you’re convinced you need to be perfect before you are deserving of money… not a great place to be!
Everyone’s understanding of their own worth will be different depending on their own obstacles; the body you were born into, the level of support and encouragement you’ve received, your own self-doubt, it’s all dependent on the social conditioning that surrounds you.
If society has taught you that you’re not good enough (and you so clearly ARE…), then how on earth can you ‘charge your worth’?
You don’t have to have a complete understanding of your worth in order to be worthy of making money. You don’t have to have confidence, you have to have courage.
Listen to this episode for some tips on how to know and understand your conditioning, and still make money as the imperfect, in progress, wonderfully messy human that you are!
And if this sounds good to you, you should definitely come along to my FREE Anti Goals Workshop on 9 December at 12pm. We’re going to be deconstructing how we’ve gotten goal-setting all wrong and making plans for 2022 that make room for you just as you are.

QUOTES
“Someone says, ‘you just need to charge your worth,’ and you think, ‘oh my God, I don't know my worth!’. It becomes a stick to beat yourself with…and we want those sticks. I know that sounds weird, but we're comfortable with it. We're comfortable with believing we're not good enough. Our brain attaches to and thrives on what is familiar to it.”
“I feel like this idea of ‘charge your worth’ feeds into this idea of once we've arrived, once we are complete. It feeds into this idea that we have to be perfect. We have to be done. And when we achieve that, we'll get money as our reward. It's just not the case. I want to encourage you to make money with all your parts, all your imperfections.”
“You don't have to deserve money. The richest people in the world do not deserve that wealth. What is ‘deserving for you’ is often a far higher bar than for a lot of other people.”
17 Nov 2022 | When life gets tough, money gets… | 00:28:06
Deep breath… how are we all doing? It seems like an appropriate question to start with - it’s an interesting time to be running a business, and maybe an even more interesting time to be making money.
One thing about money is that it loves fun. And right now, it feels so complicated to have fun with money. With the state of the economy (shall I say the dreaded word ‘recession’), of politics, of the world, the looming threats can seem one after another… how can we think of our own desires when everything seems so precarious?
The reason this is difficult is because our conditioning around money tells us that we need to put other people’s needs above our own. Which means other people’s needs sneak their way into being a priority over running our business in ways that work for us.
It can feel like while there is suffering we cannot be prospering, like there is not enough space in the world for both things to exist at once. The truth is that making room for both is exactly what will make all the difference! Tune in for more on how…
And if you caught my mention of Plenty and want to surround yourself with a group of business owners and all around kind-hearted humans as we learn to bring the joy to money making (and so much more!), take a look at all the information here: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/plenty-signup

“Your feelings of fun and lightness and joy and excitement and ease and inspiration are not just nice to have. They are indicators that you’re operating in spaces that were made for you, they are indicators that you are something inside you is coming to life. When you run your business in that space, it means less spirals, less doubt. It's the magic ingredient that you were looking for, and money loves it.”
“One of the key signs that you are in the right space is joy, pleasure, fun, excitement, those tingles. How do we marry that with the state of the world? With the state of the economy? How do we go into launches selling in ways that feel fun?”
“Kindness at all costs conditioning comes in because there's a belief that while suffering is happening, we should not be prospering.”
“Let’s say somebody's drowning , does it help for you to get in the water and start drowning with them? Or do you need to use your own power, whatever that is, to help them?”

‘I think in line with looking at ambition is looking at our definitions of success. For me, a definition of success is being able to do the school runs. That is very personal and that's a definition of success, as well as income goals being a definition of success, as well as being able to go on adventures. Whatever it is, there are these bigger ones and these smaller ones.”
“What has worked before isn’t going to work going forward
“I have learned that I can really trust my business and I can really trust my work. I can trust myself. Life can be happening and things can be going on and with the right support, you can still show up and deliver.”

QUOTE 'When it comes to like artists and hand makers and stuff like that, I see a lot of “I don't want to be a content creator. I don't want to be a personal brand’ … Well, you don't have to be, but your journey is going to be more difficult. Because the reason that someone buys from a small business owner over a huge company is that personal connection.'
'I think the other thing with showing up is that people assume that in order to be visible that you have to give up your privacy, and I don't think that's the case. It's not about letting strangers in, it's about letting yourself out.'
'This is the main piece with engagement that so many people are missing: you need to give people an opportunity to share themselves, their values, their opinions, their experiences, their preferences, because people want to talk about themselves…. Then you'll find that people actually start building friendships within your comment section.'
30 Dec 2021 | My Business Lessons of 2021 | 00:33:18
I’m really excited about this episode- I’ve wanted to do an end of year reflection for so long, but have never been able to pull one together! I almost wish I had more hindsight before recording this – 2021 has been a year of lessons and questions… and there are most certainly many answers I don’t have yet. At the same time, I think this may be the most important moment to reflect, when the thoughts and experiences are still raw.
But one thing I’ve found is that I’m ending the year much more in love with my business than I started, and this is because of all the lessons I’ve encountered along the way. From getting back in touch with my feelings in my work, to learning to stay with things when they aren’t quite working, to recognising and responding to the signs of burnout, have a listen to the episode for my top lessons of 2021.

“I think I was excited for things to change externally in the world in 2021. For 2022, I am more excited for who I am going into it.”
“You make a product, and you're always changing it and changing it and changing it so that you can't refine it particularly, because you're always making it brand new. And I think that often just feeds into soothing our belief or our desire to that working hard is what brings us money… If something doesn't work out how you'd hoped, you don't need to bin it. you can refine it. You can work on it.”
“And if I'm not open, if I make this all about me all the time… rather than looking and being like, ‘What's going on here? What can we do?’ Because here's the thing: I'm not to be fixed. That's one of the lessons: I'm not going to be fixed here, but the components of my business, the elements, the structures of my course, they are moveable and improvable”
“There is a ‘certain way’ to do it. This is how you earn money. This is how you run a business. This is how you show up online. BUT actually your unique squiffy hectic way… can really work and it will work better when you are going with yourself rather than against yourself. And it's so difficult to spot it because for the majority of us who have been traditionally left out of those money-making and those business spaces, we are so used to not fitting in that.”

QUOTES
“If you can start the day with something you actually want to do, it will absolutely transform things. That's one of the best ways that you can get yourself unstuck.”
“My stuckness is almost like my past-self holding on to where I've been, because it senses things are going to change. It senses I'm at the end of something, something new is beginning, and if I say stay stuck, I get to stay in this place that has been really uncomfortable in many ways, but is familiar.”
"One of the ways you can tell if you're in that space is you're jumping from task to task. You're probably feeling overwhelmed and like you've got to do everything, but actually end up doing very little."

27 Jul 2022 | It’s All About Trust with Lauren Derrett | 00:30:08
In this episode, I’m speaking with the wonderful Lauren Derrett! Lauren is the founder of Wear 'em Out, a new reusable period pad that’s taking the world by storm. Lauren left school at the age of 14 and has tried her hand at many dead-end jobs alongside motherhood, it wasn't until she launched her brand aged 46 that she finally felt on the right path.
Lauren and I talk through the unique investments and pressures that often come with running a product based business and how money can be linked to each one, like the sense of commitment that overhead costs can create or the complexity of working with so many supply chains.
When it comes to showing up and marketing a business, Lauren knew her messaging might be a tricky one to make accessible – between period products and sustainability, there are those who would quickly shy away! But Lauren has realised that when she shows up as herself and guides her customers with confidence, it reflects in her money-making.
Tune in for more chat on how to trust yourself in your business, and how showing up will build trust with your customers or clients too!
You can find Lauren and Wear ‘em Out period pads at: www.wearemout.co.uk
QUOTES
“There's been times throughout the last two years where I have been like, I cannot show up this week. I just can't do it. And our sales absolutely nose-dived. I have to be present. I have to be using my messaging all of the time across all of the platforms, doing everything that I can to kind of break down so many taboos and stigmas…to get the message across.”
“If I hadn't thought I was beyond certain things happening to me, I'm not sure this would've happened…if I had been a bit more like aware and conscious of keeping an eye on those things. I've done it a few times. And I think this is something that I'm really glad you are mentioning. Cause I don't think people talk enough about it: people talk a lot about the struggle to get something working. They don't talk a lot about how hard it can be when it works.”
“I don't know what I'm fucking doing, right? You know, every day I'm winging it. I'm getting up and doing it. So there's gonna be plenty of times where we go, “actually, I tried that and that didn't work.”
27 Jan 2022 | Bringing Ease to your Business with Katrina Young | 00:35:38
I know that so many of us as business owners can be intimidated by systems (raising my hand on that one!). This is why I’m so excited that the amazing Katrina Young joined us for this episode. Katrina is a Multi-award-winning consultant and specialist who works with organisations, corporations, SME’s, and business owners to design and build digital, tech, and innovative growth systems.
QUOTES KATRINA: “We need to stop attaching our self-worth to our products and services, and more to our expertise and knowledge.” KATRINA: “Some people say, ‘I just really want to have a high-ticket offer’. And I'm like, it's not linked to who you are or your self-esteem - it's like what they get at the end of it. And then they brainstorm the package with a whole different mindset.” KATRINA: “I see the fact that a business owner gets burnt out because they're the only asset in their business. So ultimately the systems and tech become a cash generating asset.” RAY: “I sometimes feel like part of the reason people don't sort tech, and this is very much a subconscious thing, but it's that it brings ease. And we feel guilty about making money easy.” KATRINA: “When I work with a business owner, we look at the… ecosystem that you might have: your team, and outsourcing tools, and tech…And that ecosystem allows you to plug and play and say, I'm going to take a month off.” KATRINA: “I say this to my parents when they’re like, ‘why are you always learning?’ I'm like: ‘well, it was different back then. Now I need to catch up’. And also, as a mom returning… it's like, wow, no school run? Who am I? So now it's filling that time up and it's like, actually I need to do this. I want to do this. Before I didn't have permission cause I had a role.” References Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, Book by James Clear Ready Fire Aim: Zero to 100 Million in No Time Flat, Book by Michael Masterson
19 Oct 2022 | Creating a Brilliant Business with Kerry Tottingham | 00:46:05
Today, I’m speaking with the amazing Kerry Tottingham, founder of coaching and design-thinking practice Brilliant Thing. Kerry talks us through her journey from having a background in the arts, to working her way up in the charity sector, to finally building her own business (which she’s absolutely smashing!).
As Kerry was part of my last round of Real You Real Money (called Money Mastery at the time), we talk through the different things that she learned about her approach to money making within the course, including breakthrough moments in her perception of what she could earn, and the conditioning she’s challenged to get there. We celebrate a big milestone Kerry has reached in her money making, and look at how you can get out of the perception that money happens to you and embrace your ability to create money.
And if you want to have access the support that Kerry and I discuss in the episode, take a look at Real You Real Money! Signups for this round are open until 31 October, and if you have any questions feel free to book a call with me right here and we can chat through it! Here's the link for more info: https://www.raydodd.co.uk/real-you-real-money
QUOTES
KERRY: “It felt like I was giving myself some really good skills and strategies and understanding as I built things, rather than applying them to a thing I'd already built. For me, it was about thinking: I've learned this thing. What does that mean for my pricing? What does that mean for the workshops that I run? Do I offer a 60-minute session? Or a 90 minute session? And how do I make that choice?”
KERRY: “The application of ideas is a really exciting thing to think about. Cause you know, there's no new ideas. It's like there's no new art. It's all interpretation and perception and application. And I think being part of the group program, you can see people apply those ideas to an amazing vegan cake business or a beautiful wedding photography business, or a website building business, you know, anything!”
RAY: "I think it's really important not to underestimate how few of us realise it's all conditioning. It's not your fault. The idea is that money doesn't have to happen to us. We can be an active participant."

QUOTES “It's impossible to create a safe space completely. I think it is much more honest, realistic, and we can create much more mature agreements and boundaries if we talk about brave spaces. I hold a space where people can be brave.”
“Boundaries mean that I can have empathy for you and still be in my power, still be in my majesty. When I'm submerged by the weight of the world, I can't be powerful.”
“Your capacity is not the same as your capability. I'm constantly stretching myself to my capability and not honouring my capacity.”
“There is a very fine line between what people perceive to be ethical and what people perceive to be people pleasing. People are doing these things so that people say you are a good person.”
“Making big money means that it's better for all of us. We can make more empowered choices and because of the relationship we have with money, this is just how it is. Many of us feel way more empowered when we're making more money because we have more access to things. Because we are living a better quality of life.”

27 Oct 2022 | Persisting Toward the Real You with Emily Armitage | 00:34:21
Today I’m talking with Emily Armitage, who is an amazing coach for female founders, creatives and small business owners. Emily talks about her recent pivot from being specifically a money coach, towards expanding to support women in getting unstuck, making shit happen, making more money and living their juiciest, most joyful lives.
Having been a marketing maven, communications extraordinaire, project manager and certified change practitioner, Emily talks through the journey she’s gone on to use all of her skills within her coaching practice, and the things she’s realised while learning to incorporate everything she brings to the table! We dive into the pressure to niche and the unsaid rules that we can fall into whenever we set off on a new venture.
Tune in for more on getting to the root of procrastination, the lifelong journey to confidence, and the blocks that may be getting between where you're at now and doing things YOUR way.

QUOTES "In order to pivot, I got really clear on who I wanted to work with. I got clear on what I've got to offer. And I also got clearer on who I am.”
"I'm sat on a cushion, which somebody obviously thought of. On a laptop, which somebody thought of. Full of components that somebody thought of. We have so much within us that other people are waiting for in need. And we are sat there, through no fault of our, own going, ‘oh, I'm not sure about this. And we could be changing other people's lives.”
“I think it's important to remember that nobody gives you a crown from being like, the queen of confidence. You don't just get to a level up. You grow all the time. You grow and you change, and things come in and you go, “me three months ago would never have done that. Me a year ago would never have done that. I've come so far.”
"If you don't have something that's flexible and flows with you, to jumpstart you, it’s always gonna stay a dream. You have to make it real somehow, even when it feels massive and big and exciting and scary. So where is that jump pad? Where is that coming from and what are you gonna do? How are you gonna do it?”

21 Jun 2023 | How to Handle Opinions on Pricing | 00:25:06
One of my absolute pet peeves is when people criticize other people’s pricing.
You may have had this happen before: someone random pops into your DMs, taking it upon themself to tell you that you are charging too much. Of course it’s easy to fall into the trap of letting this shake your confidence… embracing how you price is a vulnerable thing!
But when this happens, there’s a lot more going on under the surface. Those who criticise high prices are usually people who haven’t done the work to challenge their own conditioning around money. And since you’re here, that’s certainly not you!
Your price needs to feel ok in your body, otherwise you’ll avoid talking about it and struggle to sell. This is one of the many reasons that you – and only you - can decide what is ‘right’ to charge within your business. Tune in for more on how!

QUOTES “One of the things we get wrong when it comes to pricing is that we think it's a very practical exchange, a very practical kind of formula thing to figure out. What you price your work at is far more about what you believe about yourself and your work,.”
“When somebody's criticising your pricing, often that is because they have been taught that there's only so much space for women. Only so many women can be at the top. Only so many women in a certain industry. So they jump in with their hurt, with their worries, with their fears, with their scarcity. And they give it to you.”
“The person who slides into your DMs criticising your pricing, that comes from their money stuff. It’s actually a microcosm of what happens in society as a whole.”
25 Aug 2022 | Your Desires Matter | 00:35:15
Today I’m digging into how our desires hold keys to unlock who we are… which means a whole world of things for what you’re capable of doing in your business and in all elements of your life!
But to take one very necessary step back, it can be difficult to access our desires, especially for people who are traditionally left out of money making, who don’t fit the patriarchal mould that society typically connects with success. Conformity culture has told us to stay small, that our desires take up more space than we’re allowed and that it would be unacceptable, audacious, inappropriate, frivolous, or any type of just plain bad to follow them… which is one big lie!
Your desires can’t be bigger than you because they are you. When you begin to challenge your conditioning around staying small and follow your desires instead, you’ll start to see huge changes in your business and money making. Tune in for more on how!
If you’re looking for support to make more money by embracing your desires, take a look at my new one-of-a-kind hybrid program Real You Real Money, which combines group and 1:1 coaching that will help your money making flourish through learning to show up as the real, completely unique you in your business. QUOTES
“My desire to be seen and heard, which is a very human desire, required more space than had been allotted to people like me. To women of certain sizes, to women who don't look a certain way… From a very young age (I) internalised the belief that my desire to be seen and heard, my desire to share my thoughts, my desire to just connect with humans in a way that really makes my whole soul light up, was wrong.”
“It’s any desire that takes us out of servitude to our fellow humans, out of kindness, or perceived kindness. Like, let's look at how women who do not desire children are treated. ‘Are you sure? Are you sure you don't want? You'll regret it. Who will look after you when you're older?’. Let them leave people to their desire. Why can't we just trust people?”
“Of course it all feels like a lot to follow your desires when you know that they are gonna lead you down paths that are not the ones that were laid out for you.”
“You see those kind of Instagram memes that are just like, ‘just go your desires, fuck everything.’ That's a very shortened version, that's the gist. But it doesn't take into account years, decades of conditioning, of real life tangible experiences. On top of that, the history of your ancestors and what people have experienced and the way that's passed down. And of course that's not your fault.”
“It's really useful to just start with the top layer. If you can identify, ‘you know what, I just really want some more money,’ then start there. Don't judge it. Don't judge it as not a good enough desire, because that is some internalised patriarchal nonsense.”

“It's all about brain state. So just before we go to bed where our subconscious is open, we can ask it questions because it's agnostic. The support isn't anything other than really a computer. If we start seeing it like a computer, we can go, okay, right. How do we program? How do we work with this computer as a tool?”
“Beliefs are generally created through an experience in our lives. Something happens and you make a belief about yourself and the world that day to protect you for the future.”
“Our subconscious works unbelievably faster than our conscious brain. If we can get the subconscious working for us, change can happen really quickly.”

Quotes
“Where I’m meeting my clients at now is: you are your topic expert, you are your business expert, and you are your people expert. We build the experience around that.”
“Is it imposter syndrome, or is it that you actually, deep down, don't think you can deliver your promise? You have so much experience, so much care for your clients, but could there possibly be a different way or a better way?”
“I hold myself to the standard that a hundred percent of my clients will get a hundred percent results, so I create everything to that standard… but I know it's impossible.”
“When creating courses and programs, think about profitability in terms of time, energy, and finances.”
25 Jan 2024 | Get Comfortable with Selling with Leah Gregory | 00:49:43
The idea of selling is one of the most common points of anxiety for coaches and independent business owners – who do we approach? How do we share our offers? How hard do we push? How do we deal with rejection? With a maybe?
Sales consultant Leah Gregory joins me to hash out these questions and more. We talk through those moments where sales get sticky, and the steps we can take to make selling less pressured and more about connection.
Leah works with 6 & 7 figure coaches to sell high ticket offers, lead and train their sales teams, and help them make more sales and help more people. You can find out more about Leah on IG at @iamleah.co.uk

“People write themselves off or they discount themselves from ever being the kind of person that can sell because they're like identity currently feels so far away from that… (instead) I believe we’ve unlearned the ability to sell ourselves.”
‘Sometimes “I can't afford it” is the easiest way to say no without saying no. It can be “I don't want to hurt your feelings because you're lovely, but I don't really understand how this offer fits into the context of my life.’
‘When it comes to sales, we want to get down to the granular. It's having this particular problem with this particular aspect of self-worth. So when I make an invitation, it's going to be based on that.’
11 Jan 2024 | Don’t Wait for Permission | 00:29:40
Welcome back to Real You Real Money, and happy new year!
A new year means a new phase for so many of us, so I wanted to talk about the reality of working towards our idea of success, and why navigating the ins and outs of this is trickier than it seems.
A lot of us set goals expecting that when we achieve them everything will fall into place. When we think this way, we can end up waiting for the ‘right time’ when really the right time is now. The the reality of achieveing a goal can also be much different than it seems, especially when it comes with a whole bunch of new responsibilities and expectations to sustain.
Tune in for tips on how to stop waiting for the permission of success, and how to make the pace of your business growth more sustainable.
And if you’d like to join me for Sell That Thing, get on the wait list right here: https://ray-dodd-ltd.ck.page/6f92c19f75
QUOTES “If you want to do bold truth telling content, here is my top tip for doing that. Start saying bold truths.“
“I see a client pushing… holding on tightly to this goal. And the minute they hit it, they let go of the pen and their hand is tired and it's shaking and it needs to rest. And so of course they take their foot off the gas. They find themselves in this cycle and panic comes in and that just makes it harder and harder to actually show up. That's what happens when we treat an event as if it's success.”
“We want to build businesses that let us take breaks during the journey to where we're going, which only stops if we choose to retire.” |
