11 Feb 2025106. NEW Instagram feature: trial reels (everything you need to know + is it worth your time?)00:32:18

In this episode, I'm sharing everything you need to know about the new Instagram feature, Trial Reels. I dive into the tests I did with Trial Reels and share my opinion on whether it's worth your time. I'm also sharing a quick and raw update on what's happening in my life.

Trial Reels is a new Instagram feature where you can post a Reel that doesn't get shown to your followers or appear anywhere on your feed, Reels tab, or your account. Its purpose is to do a trial run of your content so you can see how people who don't follow you interact with it, and then you can decide if you want to share that content with your audience.

In today’s episode, I cover:

  • How Trial Reels is only for posting reels, not posts or carousels
  • How posting a Reel currently works, and what is different with Trial Reels
  • The results I've seen from testing different pieces of content in Trial Reels vs. Reels
  • Why Trial Reels specifically target people who aren't following you
  • How many Trial Reels I've posted, and how many followers I've gained from them
  • How long my test trials took to gain any traction
  • What kind of Reels perform best
  • Why your content still needs to make it to your feed for the audience you've already grown, regardless of how it does in Trials

12 Dec 202345. Recent failures in business00:27:51

Today’s episode is all about my recent failures in business. This is where we’re getting honest, real, raw, vulnerable….because you know, this is what this podcast is all about. I recorded this episode 7 times; talking about failures is so hard! A lot of people don’t talk about when they fail, but the intention of this podcast is to share everything from uncertainty and challenges to success.

In this episode I run through four aspects of failure I’ve seen in my business recently and how I have changed, or are planning to change course:

  • Relaunching my scalability program when I did
  • Taking on way too many one-on-one clients while also running my mini-mind group
  • Self sabotage showing up on Instagram lately
  • Losing my focus with shiny objects instead of focusing on selling and focusing on what my income producing activities are

Today’s episode is part four and the final episode of a series looking at successful businesses and taking the techniques they’ve used to become massively successful and thinking about how we can apply those to our businesses in the online space.

In this episode I cover the Red Bull Effect: building community. Red Bull markets a lifestyle, not just a product, so we need to look at how to align our businesses to a lifestyle or a set of values that our target audience aspires to. Red Bull targets customers that live and enjoy high energy activities, sports, and adventure. Ultimately this makes Red Bull a symbol of vitality and excitement. In today’s episode I share how to embody the lifestyle you want your brand associated with so you’re a living, breathing example of what you teach and preach.

I’ll dig deeper into these questions:

  • How can you sell the lifestyle that your offers provide?
  • What is the physical representation of the emotional aspect that you help people with?
  • What stories can you tell that will create more community connection?
  • How can you create a legacy for your brand?
  • Does your life represent your message?

Systemizing your business leads to efficiency and that means you get more done in less time! That’s everyone’s goal, right?!

13 Aug 202480. Is your offer launch not going as planned?00:31:39

Is your offer launch not going as planned? In today’s episode I am talking all about tangible options you can do to turn it around. I’ll share my real world struggle I’m currently facing myself with my own offer and how I’m navigating that. Failed launches are inevitable and they happen to every business offer; but giving up is not an option! There’s always more things we can try.

In this episode, I cover two different scenarios and options for each to spark ideas for you to try such as:

  • Post reel or content that relates to the offer that you can use a CTA with
  • Target a specific group or segment from your email list to send content tol
  • Share a different perspective on the offer that you haven’t shared before
  • Ask people what’s holding them back from purchasing and listen to their feedback
  • Make small tweaks to marketing messaging to see what gets better traction
  • Extend deadline of launch
  • Add a bonus for the next X amount of people who join the offer
  • Relaunch your offer
  • Refine your offer

31 Dec 2024100. The reason you're not winning - a little tough love00:10:04

This is my 100th episode of the podcast! To say that I'm shocked to be here recording this episode would be an understatement.

I was struggling with what my topic should be because I wanted to make it extra special for this milestone. I then realized that I haven't missed a week of recording since I started the podcast in February 2023, so I don't need to put so much pressure on today's episode.

I'm sharing the lessons I've learned since starting this podcast in the hope that these lessons can help you win in your business.

In today’s episode, I cover:

  • Not putting too much pressure on yourself for any one piece of content
  • How proud I am that I show up for this podcast even when an episode or show metrics aren’t where I want them to be
  • Why I do this podcast for the people and not the money

18 Feb 2025107. The best lesson and the hardest lesson I’ve had to learn as an entrepreneur00:10:21

In this episode, I’m sharing the best lesson and the hardest lesson I’ve had to learn as an entrepreneur. If you are looking to build a life-giving business, this episode is for you.

I was talking with a client about goals for 2025 based on 2024, and the biggest change she wanted to make was not doing everything at the last minute. That conversation reminded me I had to learn to let go of the sense of urgency to make my business thrive. I had to learn that nothing is an emergency in business.

In today’s episode, I cover:

  • How to not do everything last minute
  • Getting out of the “rush” zone
  • How nothing is an emergency in business; nothing needs to be so urgent
  • Building your business with long-term thinking, not instant gratification
  • Why you don’t have to execute the second you come up with an idea
  • How to stop and ask yourself, “But what if I wait?”
  • Why spaciousness is the goal, and urgency is not going to get you there

09 Jul 202475. What do you do when the going gets tough?00:24:11

What do you actually do when the going gets tough? In today’s episode we’re getting really vulnerable. I’m going to walk you through some difficult things I’ve been going through recently and how I’m navigating each of them. Reflecting on everything in the last month made me realize no one fails, they just quit before they succeed. We’re all going to face tough times; it’s part of the entrepreneurship journey.

Listen along as I share some of the tough things I’ve been dealing with:

  1. I had my lowest income month I’ve ever had in the last 2.5 years
  2. A student in one of my offers told me I’m not embodying what I teach
  3. A student was plagiarizing one of my offers
  4. I had a tragedy in my personal life recently
  5. I lost a very large investment in another business
  6. I goofed up with something I taught in one of my offers

While it’s been a really tough month, I’ve tried to remember that disruption proceeds your biggest breakthroughs. How many of us throw in the towel right before our breakthrough? Ultimately where we need to land: our dreams are worth fighting for.

25 Apr 202312. How I'd navigate that00:52:14

I put a question box up in my stories asking my community for different situations and scenarios that you were curious about how I’d navigate. There were SO many that were submitted, but on today’s episode, I’m going to run through 10 of them. Hopefully my perspective and insight can give you a toolkit of how to navigate these topics in your own business.

The 10 topics I share how I'd navigate are:

  • Answering “how do I fix that” without being salesy
  • Pricing transparency
  • Missing payments and losing access
  • Getting asked questions after a coaching retainer has ended
  • Getting asked for a coupon code when the discount just expired
  • Instagram account getting disabled or shut down
  • A past client wanting past prices even though prices have increased
  • A no-show in your program
  • Not right-fit clients or customers
  • Objections

10 Oct 202336. Breakdown of my $100k 2022 black Friday00:13:40

Today’s episode is all about breaking down my 2022 Black Friday sale that brought in over $100k in revenue. I wish I had my podcast back in 2022 so I could have done a breakdown sooner. But I figured with Black Friday coming up, it’s a perfect time to share a little bit more about the behind-the-scenes of what actually took place to bring in that volume of revenue in such a short amount of time in my business.

In this episode, I’ll cover:

  • How I only run one sale a year, so I go all out!
  • November is a fun time to create sales and add creativity to discounts and bonuses I offer
  • A breakdown of revenue vs. cash vs. expenses
  • A breakdown of the four main sales that I ran; the price points, how much money each brought in, and how long I ran these sales

07 Jan 2025101. A sales technique that made me $20k00:11:55

Today, I'm sharing a sales technique that made me $20k. I recently used this technique to launch my Plug and Get Paid course and saw massive success.

In this episode, I'm walking you through how to sell an offer by selling the lifestyle the offer will bring. In sales, we often don't think about the transformation as how it integrates into someone's life and what it would actually look like in a very specific scenario.

In today’s episode, I cover:

  • Examples of selling by using specific scenarios
  • Why your messaging has to resonate with people
  • How to show how your offer will integrate into their life and benefit their lifestyle and routine
  • How to show the physical representation of the emotional aspect that you help people with
  • Why you need to sell the lifestyle on your sales page, Instagram stories, and in conversations
  • How being specific and talking to one person actually helps more people than if you were trying to talk to everyone

I dive in to each of these “spookies”:

  1. People saying that they are multi six figure business owners when they haven’t made that amount in a one year span, they’re saying that as a career total.
  2. People saying that you have to invest in coaching to be successful.
  3. People not paying their bills even though they committed to their investment.
  4. People who use value-based pricing.
  5. People who share that they’ve unlocked a new level as a way to sell their new offer.
  6. People who use click bait hooks that are misleading just to grow on social media.
  7. People who talk about passive income like it’s a create it once and then leave it and never touch it again type of offer.
  8. MRR- master resell rights (go listen to Ep 34 “The tea on master resell rights” to learn more)– people claim it’s easy and you’ll make a lot of money.
  9. People who don’t use contracts and terms of use when selling their offers.
  10. People who dispute payments instead of just talking to the business owner.

I didn’t get to share my experience on social media as much as I would have liked, so I thought a podcast episode would be a great way to recap.

The 5 takeaways from my time at the event that I dive further into are:

  2. The power of recurring revenue through affiliate commission

23 Jul 202477. Creating magnetic messaging that sells00:18:41

There’s been a common theme in my DMs recently with a lot of questions along the same line of “how do you make your messaging so magnetic”.

Magnetic messaging means that people are drawn in and sold before you actually have the chance to sell to them. Are you feeling stuck to attract your ideal clients? I’ll share my movement piece, and how it embodies the values and the vision behind what I teach.

In today’s episode, I’m going to walk you through simple tips to create copy that goes from boring and predictable to exciting and relevant, ultimately creating magnetic messaging that sells.

These tips are:

  • Create a movement piece that embodies the overarching idea of what it is that you teach. This needs to resonate deeply with your audience and the outcome they’re searching for.
  • Infuse your copy with effective language that speaks directly to your ideal follower or ideal client’s aspirations or challenges to drive conversion
  • Leverage Chat GPT to help you understand your ideal client’s thoughts (I share a prompt below to use).
  • Use the exact language your ideal client is using

In this episode, I cover:

  • How I take regular stories and niches submitted by my Instagram community and turn them into sales stories
  • Examples of how to use a story to sell in an email rather than an Instagram story
  • How evoking emotion can help you sell
  • How mundane stories are what people relate to, which means they’ll relate to your offer

16 Jul 202476. Your weakness is your greatest superpower00:12:21

I was recently listening to a training and the coach said “your greatest perceived weakness is what you need to lean into, it is actually your greatest strength.” That concept has stuck with me for weeks. In today’s episode, I will share when it finally clicked for me that your weakness is your greatest superpower. We don’t want to deny or suppress our weaknesses; we should be reframing our mindset and embracing the unique qualities that make us who we are. I encourage you to identify those areas that you think are your weaknesses and lean into them as they could be a catalyst for your transformation!

In this episode, we cover:

Creating, marketing, and selling her own digital products, Abigail Peugh has built a 1.5 million dollar business in 19 months with consistent focused work (like money making tasks every single day), a toddler at her side, and making it known that you don’t have to work your life away to build a wildly successful online business. She has also proven that you can be your true --introverted, sweat pants wearing, always slightly tired looking mama-- self and still build an incredible community (and business) on Instagram. Her simple, yet tangible, no-fluff frameworks showcase that you really can have it all. You really can impact more people, make more money (like, a lot more), and live more of your actual dream life.

Today’s episode includes ideas on what to do when business is slow. Slow business is inevitable, it happens to every single business owner at one point or another. So whether you’re in a slow season right now, or you hit one in the future, use this episode as a reference when the time(s) come.

In this episode, I share nine things to focus on when business is slow:

  1. Updating your website
  2. Automate or delegate
  3. Go through a course or offer you’ve purchased that is collecting dust
  4. Focus on SEO and social media
  5. Look at feedback and implement changes
  6. Dig in to the analytics to see what’s working and not working
  7. Create a new freebie or optimize your workflow
  8. Create new offers
  9. Clean up your files and organize your ideas

16 May 202315. Learning Instagram part 2: myths00:35:22

This episode is the second episode of a 3-part series about learning Instagram. Today is all about busting myths. Specifically, I’m busting 14 myths (plus a bonus!) that I see and hear often about Instagram.

In this episode about learning Instagram part 2: the myths are:

  • You have to post daily to stay relevant
  • The shadow ban
  • Switching to a business account hurts your engagement
  • You have to reply to all direct messages or else you’re penalized
  • Instagram only shows your post to 7% of people
  • You are penalized for leading people off of the Instagram platform
  • You are penalized for using all 30 hashtags
  • There’s no different between hashtags in the captions vs. hashtags in the comments
  • You can hack the algorithm
  • You are penalized for editing a caption after posting
  • You are penalized If you delete a reel and then repost it
  • Brand partnerships and tagging accounts hurt how your content/account is ranked on IG
  • Reposted content from feed to stories decreases story views
  • Who you follow on Instagram affects who can find your content on Instagram and who the algorithm shows your content to
  • What you see on your explore page affects what explore pages you show up on

This episode is the first episode of a 3-part series about learning Instagram. Today I'm going to dive into the algorithm because there are a lot of misconceptions out there. All of this information comes directly from Instagram or Adam Mosseri (the head of Instagram), so not just speculations or my opinions, but straight from the source. This is obviously very valuable information to know, not only as a consumer of content on Instagram, but also as a creator of content on Instagram.

In this episode, we cover:

  • The different types of algorithms within Instagram
  • The different signals each algorithm is looking at
  • The main interactions that each algorithm is looking at

04 Feb 2025105. How to decide what to share for free vs. what to charge for00:11:20

This episode was inspired by a really great question I got from someone in my Instagram community. Today, I'm sharing some general guidance on how to decide what content to share for free vs. what to charge for.

The balance of giving and selling is what builds a sustainable business. People aren't just paying for your information; they're paying for your experience, your perspective, and your tools to implement. Share the what and the why for free, but charge for the how.

In today’s episode, I cover:

  • Tips on the type of content to share for free
  • How information alone doesn’t create results
  • That people who pay, pay attention
  • How your information should help with their problem and guide them on how to implement the solution
  • The ultimate goal of all content is to sell the transformation
  • Why share the “what” and “why” for free but charge for the “how”
  • How everyone’s business is different, so do what works best for you

30 Jul 202478. Are clear or clever offer names better? w/ Katie @katiepannell00:45:33

Creating a name for your business (or your products or services) takes work. Today's guest, naming strategist Katie Pannell, has built her business on this very niche topic. In this episode, Katie and I discuss the psychology of naming methods to come up with your own effective and innovative names, whether or not clear or clever offer names are better, and some of the strategies she uses with her own naming clients.

I actually hired Katie a few months ago to help me name a new business I'm starting, and she was absolutely fantabulous! This project is still under wraps, but I was blown away by the entire process and am so excited for you to hear from Katie and how she built something that is so needed in the online space.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Katie's entrepreneur story and how she got to where she is today
  • The risks and rewards of choosing a clever versus clear name
  • Balancing clarity and creativity when developing a name
  • Naming strategy for digital products, physical products, and brands

In this episode, I share different scenarios that happened recently in my business that reminded me that selling is providing value. We don’t always have to provide free educational value in every single place we are reaching our audience. You can provide value, but don’t forget to sell!

  • Why information does not equal transformation
  • How people who pay, pay attention

Carly teaches in-person classes but has also had the incredible opportunity to connect with thousands of stylists throughout the world through her wildly successful online education platform Blonde Chronicles University she launched during Covid.

In today’s episode, Carly shares the background, peaks and valleys, and step-by-step of scaling her business. She goes in depth about:

  • Changing platforms and steps to use to make that an easier transition
  • How she grew her membership to over 8k and social following to over 650k

This effect suggests that people feel a sense of pride and achievement from successfully completing the assembly of a product leading them to value the end product more highly than if they had not put any effort into its creation. I share ways you can implement The IKEA effect into three different categories of business:

  • Offers, programs, or membership
  • One-on-one coaching clients and containers
  • Community

27 Feb 202456. Is pain point marketing dead?00:19:55

Today’s episode is spicy! This episode came about because there’s a lot of conversation happening in the business space that speaking to pain points in your marketing is not the way to go and instead you should only speak to their desires. A lot of this conversation is happening on Threads. So in this episode, I’ll share my thoughts on how I believe pain point marketing is a strategic tactic that is very powerful, not just for you getting sales, but for helping your community to feel seen.

Today I’ll walk through 6 ways to effectively use pain points in your marketing:

  1. Get specific
  2. Use pain points to emphasize and empathize, not shame
  3. Use pain points to help people better understand the situation they’re going through
  4. Use pain points to serve people on a higher level
  5. In marketing come from the energy of “this will help someone feel seen and heard”
  6. When you are calling out mistakes share it from a “me” and not “you” perspective

23 Jan 202451. How I 5x’d my instagram story views00:21:42

20 Aug 202481. I tried out a “pay what you want” option on an offer, here’s how it went00:16:19

In today’s episode I share how I tried out a “pay what you want” option on an offer, here’s how it went: Earlier this year I wanted to experiment with something new in my launch strategy for a brand new offer. Kajabi has a new “pay what you want” feature that allows your customer to enter what they want to pay at checkout. There’s no set price (you can set a minimum) and it’s up to the customer to choose what the value is.

In this episode, I share what I learned from this experiment:

  • Using this feature can be a good way to do a/b testing
  • It can be a way to collect data from your customers to help set an official price point
  • When I let my target group in this experiment pay what they wanted, they chose to pay an average of $15 for the offer
  • I ignored the average people chose to pay because I saw the actual value and I increased and set the price two different times with great results
  • New customers might not see the value in a paid offer like your current customers do
  • People see the value that you assign to the offer
  • It’s through your marketing that you’re attaching value to the amount you’re charging for the offer
  • Pick a price you can stand behind and work on your marketing messaging to show the worth

This episode covers the Amazon Effect: the fact that the quicker people get results, the more likely they are going to want to be repeat customers for a long time. This isn’t rooted in psychology but my personal take on Amazon’s success. When applying it to the offers we create in our own businesses, I’ll dive into questions to ask yourself to get people from point A (their pain point) to point B (the result they want) as fast as possible to achieve a higher completion rate.

12 Mar 202458. A deep late night thought00:07:38

Today’s episode is courtesy of a 2am loopy thought! Last week I opened my Notes app to add an idea and there was a note that I didn’t remember writing. In the middle of the night, I had written down a question that became today’s episode topic. I was going to delete the note because the question felt silly, but the more I sat with it, the more I realized how powerful the question can be. This question will have you thinking like an innovator. Listen to hear the question and my thoughts on what it means to me.
