Brett Turcotte is a multi talented action sports athlete and outdoor enthusiast from British Colombia, Canada. Brett is known throughout the Winter X-Games world for competing in the Snowmobile Freestyle and Snow Bike Best Trick. In 2018 he was the Winter X-Games Double Gold Medalist and 8 Times Winter X-Games Medalist in Snowmobile.
Hailing from Clearwater, British Columbia, Canada Brett grew up competing in Sno Cross races and hill climb events from the age of 13 and riding snowmobiles since he was 6 years old. He went on to push the sport of backcountry mountain riding and snowmobile freestyle.
Brett is always challenging himself to be the best action sports athlete he can be. From multiple sports including Freestyle Motocross, Free-Ride Mountain Biking, UTV Rally Cross, Sno-Bike Freestyle Backcountry Mountain Snowmobiling and Freestyle. He also manages to sneak in time to go hunting and fishing in the summer months and is heavily involved in the Freestyle Moto Industry.

Stix started his career off in the world of action sports at Airwalk as a Snowboard Boot Developer then Snow Division Manager. He then went on to be Sports Marketing Manager at Red Bull followed by creating the Lifestyle Marketing program for Pabst Brewing Company pushing the limits on creative branding. He is now VP Lifestyle Marketing Liquid Death canned water taking the drink to the action sports, music and lifestyle segments. Liquid Death Water is canned water from the Austrian Alps that debuted January of 2019. With savvy marketing campaigns they have gone full throttle in the CPG space and beyond.

Courtney Gresik is the Vice President and General Manager of Dew Tour. Coming from a financial background Gresik started her career in the action sports industry in 2005 working at TransWorld Media and the World Surf League. Gresik now oversees the business, partnerships, event operations, marketing and content strategy of Dew Tour's contest series of skateboarding and snow events.
Prior to being the GM she was Director of Business and Partnerships on the Tour which saw her partner with nonprofits, schools and the action sports community. She has been pivotal in relocating Dew Tour Winter to Cooper Mountain and including women to the Tour Team Challenge and Streetstyle Winter 2020 competitions. She is also a member of WISE—Women In Sports and Events.

Mike Powell is a ski industry veteran, action sports podcast host and producer of the Powell Movement Podcast. Powell grew up in Washington, DC and went to Radford University in Virginia studying speech communications. He moved to Vail, Colorado after college and got hooked on snowboarding.
He spent 16 years in marketing, action sports management and working with the world’s best skiers in the world at K2 Skis. Simple Session had it's 20th Anniversary in February 2020 just before the pandemic hit and the events world changed forever.
Risto, grew up in Tartu, southern Estonia. During the 90's there was only a handful of BMX and skaters in the country. In Tartu they built a new skatepark and with his brother Mario they launched the first ever Simple Session event in 2000.
In 2004 Risto moved to the Estonian capital of Tallinn, along with Simple Session. Over the years the event has grown and housed some of the biggest names in BMX and skateboarding. The riding is next level and the parties are legendary.

Don Meek is a media, marketing and entertainment executive and the Global Chief Content Officer and GM North America at FUEL TV.
California native Don started his career at Prime Ticket Network managing a number of sports events including the US Open of Surfing. He then went on to Sony Pictures where he launched international television networks and headed up sales and marketing for one of the pioneering online video platforms at iFilm.
Don then became the President of Primedia’s Action Sports Group looking after websites, events and magazines including SURFER, POWDER and SKATEBOARDER and was then head of digital at Tribune Company.
Don is currently steering the ship at FUEL TV in the US and is in charge of content going out to 103 countries around the world. He is also an avid surfer, chair of the content committee and board member at the Surfing Heritage and Culture Center.

Chris Coté on Action Sports Hosting, Commentating and Media

Chris Coté is an action sports events host, musician, broadcaster, writer and podcast host and one of the most recognisable voices in the action sports community.
Hailing from Southern California, Chis grew up skating and surfing and had a short stint at competing before moving behind the scenes in the surf industry. In the late 90’s he got his big break as the Editor in Chief at Transworld Surf Magazine which he held for 14 years. As well as the host of Fuel TV and playing in punk bands.
Nowadays Chris can be seen and heard on the World Surf League’s Work Surf Weekly and WSL Surf Breaks. He also gets amongst it as an on air announcer. He is on the board of directors for Yew Media based out of San Diego and Editor of Encinitas Magazine in his hometown as well as hosting his own podcast ‘the Monday M.A.S.S’ along side Todd Richards. He’s still involved in the skate scene as the commentator on the Vans Pro Park Series and is the one-man-media powerhouse of content and production company Cote Media Group.

Growing up in Thousand Oaks, Southern California, Mikey was hooked on skateboarding and turned pro when he was 17. Mikey co-founded Saint Archer Brewing, a San Diego based craft beer company bringing skate, surf and the art’s world together. With a passion for investment and business he set up Commune Capital a real estate investing firm.

Jim Kempton is an author, former editor and publisher of SURFER Magazine, Marketing Executive at Quiksilver, Billabong and current President of the California Surf Museum.
Jim started surfing when he was a kid in Guam where his parents were working as civil servants. He moved to California for high school and then majored in journalism at University. After college he got a job writing for Surfing Magazine as he was travelling a lot to Europe and Morocco on surf adventures. Jim was writing articles for SURFER Magazine which lead to him becoming associate editor, then editor and publisher within 3 years. He ran the magazine for a decade before moving to Transworld to become the publisher for TWS Business magazine and Transworld Snowboarding.
In the early 2000’s Jim moved to Quiksilver and oversaw the Quiksilver Global Crossing boat searching for waves all over the world. Afterwards he became the Media Marketing Director at Billabong. Jim then took on the position as director of the California Surf Museum. He has written a numerous books including, Surfing The Manual: Advanced, First We Surf Then we Eat and his most recent book Women on Waves.

Matt Pritchard from Pro Skateboarder to Vegan Chef and Extreme Endurance Athlete

Matt Pritchard is a former pro skateboarder, Dirty Sanchez TV star turned vegan chef and extreme endurance athlete.
Matt started skateboarding at 15 in Cardiff, Wales. Hanging out with mates, skating and pranking each other turned into the skate video Pritchard vs Dainton. Jackass in America came out at the same time which lead to MTV reaching out to the boys to produce a British version and Dirty Sanchez was born. This lead to 3 series, a movie and a number of other TV shows for Lee Dainton and Matt. 15 years of absolute mayhem after that taking the show on the road doing live gigs around the UK.
The years of partying took its toll and Matt had enough and in 2014 he left. With some money saved up he set up Sleep When You’re Dead Tattoo & Barbour shop in Cardiff. He came across the film Cowspiracy and instantly became vegan after watching it. Trained as a chef Matt was looking for vegan recipes and saw a gap in the market for a funny vegan cooking show and created the Dirty Vegan cooking series airing on the BBC.
At the same time he was running and started doing triathlons. Taking it from one extreme to another Matt took on gnarly endurance challenges such as 30 half Ironman events in 30 days and rowed across the Atlantic for 52 days.

Hans 'No Way' Rey — Godfather of Extreme Mountain Biking on Hollywood, Urban Adventures and Riding World First Trails

Hans 'No Way' Rey is a former Trials World Champion, pioneer of extreme mountain biking and one of the original action sports content creators.
Hans grew up in Germany and started riding bikes at an early age. He became the Trials World Champion and competed in mountain biking events around the world. He always knew there was something outside of competing and with his trials background he started doing stunts, producing videos and going on mountain biking travel adventures. This was considered Freeride mountain biking before the term 'Freeride' even existed.
Hans moved to the US and was around the corner from Hollywood in the 90's. This opened up to appearances in TV shows like Pacific Blue playing himself. He would do mountain biking demo shows and rode world first trails in Machu Picchu, down active volcanos in Hawaii and even descended Mount Kilimanjaro.
Hans has discover over 70 countries on his bike and appeared in 450 magazine front covers. He's now focused on urban adventures, mountain biking in and around massive cities like Los Angeles, Hong Kong and his most recent film production 'Slay The Bay' in San Francisco.

Graham Jarvis is the most decorated extreme enduro rider of all time. Graham started competing in trial motorbike competitions when he was only 10 years old. He went on to win the Scottish Six Days Trial four times, the Scott Trial nine times and the British Trials Champion five times. When you look up Extreme Enduro Graham's face pops up. He has won Red Bull Romaniacs an astonishing six times and Erzberg Rodeo five times among loads of other races.

Bob Haro — Freestyle BMX Innovator on Growing Haro Bikes to 7 Million Dollars

Bob Haro is the Father of Freestyle BMX and the founder of Haro Bikes and Harodesign. Bob grew up in Southern California riding motocross and skateboarding. When he ran out of money to continue racing dirt bikes he turned to BMX. Drawing was Bob's first passion and started illustrating for BMX magazines and brands. He became the staff artists for BMX Action Magazine. At 18 he started his own business, manufacturing BMX Plates and selling tens of thousands in the process.
Bob was racing BMX and riding skateparks at night which became the birth of Freestyle. Parks were starting to close down so he was building his own ramps. They would take their ramps on the road doing Freestyle demo shows across the US and then worldwide.
Bob designed the first frame and fork for freestyle BMX. Then partnered with Torker to build the first freestyle bike called the Freestyler and Haro Bikes was launched. Haro Bikes grew rapidly turning over 7 million before Bob got an offer to sell it. He took the offer and started Harodesigns in 1993, a brand and marketing company for the action sports and motorsports industries. Bob went on to design the 2008 and 2012 US Olympics BMX Team kit and continues to be an instrumental figure in the BMX world.

Chris Bertish — Ocean Pioneer on Standup Paddleboarding the Atlantic and Wing-Foiling the Pacific

Chris Bertish is a big wave surfer, world record paddleboarder, speaker, author and conservationist on a mission to inspire people.
Chris started working in the surf industry for Billabong South Africa as the national sales manager. Afterwards he headed to the UK and was national brand manager for Gul. He would train in his stare time for the big wave season at every given opportunity. In 2009 without major sponsors Chris won the infamous Mavericks Big Wave Invitational Surfing event. This changed the direction of his life. His experience of winning at Mavs turned into the film 'Ocean Driven'.
Chris was set on new challenges and wanted to show that if you train and put in the work anything is possible. In 2017 he travelled 7,500 km across the Atlantic on a standup paddleboard for 93 days. Raising money for charity and conservation work in the process. He uses his stories as a force for positive impact and change and speaks regularly around the world at conferences and gives keynote presentations for companies.

Matthias Giraud 'Super Frenchie' on Ski BASE Jumping and Big Mountain Skiing the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc

Matthias Giraud aka Super Frenchie is a big mountain skier and BASE Jumper. Matthias grew up skiing in St Gervais-les-Bains, France. He was inspired by the mountain legends of Chamonix who set the bar for mountain sports and following their passion. Matthias went from ski racing to freestyle skiing and moved to the US with the aim of becoming a pro skier. He got his skydiving license and started base jumping. He wanted to Ski BASE Jump since he was 9 years old and was lucky enough to meet Shane McConkey who steered him in that direction. Adding a parachute on your back was the perfect solution to turning big mountain skiing into double XL mountain skiing.
Matthias has gone on to ski BASE Jump some of the world's first descents. Including Mt Hood in Oregon, the Matterhorn in Switzerland and Mont Blanc the highest mountain in the Alps.

Terry Adams — BMX Flatland Pro Rider on Goal Setting and Never Giving Up

Terry Adams is a professional BMX Flatland rider. Terry got hooked on BMX at 12 years old growing up in Hammond, Louisiana outside of New Orleans. He would race BMX but what really stood out was BMX Flatland and by the time he was only 16 Terry was entering flatland contests as a professional.
From pure determination and hard work Terry’s set out on getting coverage in the magazines. This lead to sponsorship deals and competing in flatland around the world. In 2005 he won X Games gold and has been voted Ride BMX Magazine’s Number One Ride Award (NORA) winner 3 times. Chad Nelsen — Surfrider Foundation CEO on Protecting the World's Ocean, Lakes and Seas

Chad Nelsen is the Chief Executive Officer of The Surfrider Foundation. Chad was brought to Laguna Beach, California with his family in the 70's by his Dad who was an Ocean Science Educator. He spent his entire life growing up around the ocean, swimming, diving and surfing. He became a Lifeguard at Laguna and went on to study Geosciences then Coastal Management.
Chad volunteered at the Surfrider Foundation a non-for profit organisation dedicated to the protection of the world's oceans, waves and beaches. A few years later he landed a job at Surfrider coordinating a beach mapping programme which opened up to him running the Environmental Department for 16 years. In 2014 Chad became the CEO of the Surfrider Foundation and oversees more than 180 chapters and student clubs around the world. He also helped establish “Surfonomics,” which looks at the economic implications of surf tourism.

Pierre-André Senizergues — Etnies and Sole Technology Founder on being Homeless to a Multimillionaire

Pierre André Sénizergues grew up in the suburbs of Paris and got hooked on skateboarding at 14. He studied engineering in the early 80's and got a job as an engineer for IBM. He would skate during his lunch breaks at work and knew that he had to follow his passion. In 85 he moved to California to purse his skateboarding dream. From being one of the best skate pro's in Europe winning 12 French titles and 5 European Championships he became homeless and would do skate demos on Venice boardwalk to survive.
All that changed when Steve Rocco team manager for Sims Skateboards at the time saw Pierre skate one day and asked him to join the team. Pierre became obsessed with creating a shoe for skateboarders that was durable as well as functional. He teamed up with Rautureau Apple a French fashion shoe manufacturer and starting designing skate shoes with skaters in mind. etnies was born. In 89 Pierre launched etnies in the U.S. and later gained full rights to the brand name worldwide.
etnies was growing massively in the mid 90's selling millions of shoes and sponsoring the best skateboarders in the world. With specific team riders in mind he launched additional brands including éS, Emerica, apparel brand Altamont and snowboard brand ThirtyTwo. The company went under the Sole Technology Umbrella. They moved headquarters to Lake Forest, California and now Sole Tech distribute to 70+ countries and are the leading privately-held action sports footwear and apparel company in the world.

Tiago Pires —The Rise of Portugal's Most Famous Surfer

Tiago Pires otherwise known as Saca changed Portugal's surfing industry and the reputation of surfers from Portugal forever.
Tiago joined the Ericeria Surf Club when he was 13. A year later he became under 14 National Champion then under 16 Champ. In 96 Tiago met his coach and mentor José Seabra a relationship that would go on for 30 years. He was storming up the ranks and became runner up twice in the World Junior Surfing Championships. 2000 was a defining year where he became Rookie of The Triple Crown in Hawaii. Grinding it out on the QS Tiago qualified for the Championship Tour in 2008 becoming the first Portuguese surfer ever on the dream tour!
After 8 years on tour and some incredible results Tiago retired and set up Tiago Pries Surf School. He then foundered ReAct Sports Management an athlete management agency working with Frederico Morais, Vasco Ribeiro and other competitive surfers.

Vanessa Ruck 'The Girl On A Bike' on Getting Lost in the Desert and how Motorbikes Changed her Life

Vanessa Ruck discovered the world of motorcycling, rallying and hard enduro after an accident that almost took her life.
Vanessa grew up in England keeping fit in the outdoors doing loads of sports. When she went to University at 18 she got hooked on wakeboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, anything that got the adrenaline pumping. In 2014 Vanessa’s life took a turn when she was out cycling and was hit by a car.
The accident changed Vanessa’s life as she realised she would not longer be able to do some of the sports that she loved. She turned to motorbikes initially as a way of getting around and adventuring on the open road. After multiple surgeries she started The Girl On A Bike when she was bed bound to channel her energy into something positive. Vanessa shares all the ups and downs of her recovery. Her goal is to make the most out of each day and help others do the same.

Beyrick De Vries — Pro Surfer on Surfing for the Netherlands in the Olympics

Beyrick De Vries is a South African pro surfer aiming to represent the Netherlands surfing in the Olympics and coaches the Netherland’s Junior Surf Team.
De Vries grew up in Durban, South Africa and initially started skateboarding before his dad convinced him to try surfing. He never looked back. Describing himself as 90% weird, and 100% happy about it, Beyrick’s a character.
Beyrick started competing on WQS events at 16 years old, travelling to some of the best surf spots in the world. He’s been close to qualifying for the Championship Tour on a few occasions, only missing out by a couple of spots. With surfing now in the Olympics Beyrick’s focus has shifted to qualifying for the Games to represent the Netherlands in Paris 2024 (which will be in Tahiti) but we’ll get into that. He will also be coaching the Netherlands’ Junior Surf Team. His goal is to raise the awareness of surfing and surf culture in the Netherlands and emphasis the importance of ocean conservation.

Gary Land — Photographer on East Street Archives and Snowboarding's East Coast Scene

Gary Land is a legendary snowboarding photographer and award winning director. Gary starting taking photos of his friends surfing and skateboarding growing up in Virginia Beach. He was working in a surf shop and they had just got in some snowboards.The next minute on a whim Gary went off to Vermont. He started taking photos for Eastern Edge snowboarding magazine and later became their staff photographer. Gary was living and working in the notorious party house called ‘East Street’. This would become the inspiration for his 3rd photography book called East Street Archives, documenting 90’s snowboarding on the east coast and all the riders and friends he met along the way.
Gary moved to Boston and got a job as Reebok’s staff photographer where he stayed for 8 years. He’s shot some of the biggest A-list celebrities in the world and done ad-campaigns for the likes of Apple, Nike and Coca-Cola as well as being Allen Iverson personal photographer.

Vasu Sojitra — Adaptive Athlete on Inclusivity in Skiing and Breaking Down Barriers

Vasu Sojitra is a professional adaptive athlete, Disability Access Strategist and advocate for inclusivity. Vasu was born in Connecticut and his leg was amputated at 9 months old from a blood infection. After the hospital treatment his family decided to move back to India to be around family. Throughout that time he was constantly over growing his prosthetic leg and breaking it so they decided to move back to the US to have access to medical equipment.
Growing up Vasu started playing soccer and picked up skateboarding and skiing at 10. He saw an adaptive skier using outriggers and he convinced his parents to help him buy those. Vasu went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont and got into backcountry skiing. With the help of some friends they engineered rigging equipment to help him excel in mountain sports. Vasu is also on the US adaptive soccer team, skateboards, trail runs, bikes. He's climbed Grand Teton, done the first adaptive ski descent of Denali and is the first adaptive athlete for The North Face.
Vasu continues to challenge the biases that go with being a Disable person of color through his work as a founding member of The Outdoor F.U.T.U.R.E Initiative cofounding Inclusive Outdoors Project.

Bob McKnight — The Quiksilver Story and How Boardshorts Started the Modern Surfing Industry

Bob McKnight is the Co-Founder, Former Chairman and CEO of Quiksilver and one of the pioneers of the modern surfing industry.
Bob McKnight majored in business at USC and had gone on some major surf trips. One of them being to Bali where he met pro surfer Jeff Hakman and his future wife. That trip would change Bob’s life forever.
Jeff had met Alan Green in Bells Beach, Australia after he won the contest there. Alan had set up a company called Quiksilver making the first ever shorts for surfers. Jeff and Bob convinced Alan to license Quiksilver for the North American market. They started manufacturing and selling board shorts out of Bob’s VW van up and down the country to surf shops.
The surf shops couldn’t get enough of Quiksilver. They were at the beginning of the modern surf industry and they went from being a start up to becoming a multi-million dollar business. Quiksilver were the first surfing company to go public on the New York Stock Exchange and the first to launch a female range, Roxy.
They expanded into skateboarding and snow and by the mid 2000’s Quiksilver was worth 2.5 Billion dollars. Competition increased, recessions came and Quiksilver hit some rocky times. They restructured and formed Boardriders Inc incorporating brands Billabong DC Shoes, RVCA, Element, VonZipper, Kustom. Bob still wears boardshorts and the stoke is alive and well.

Scot fell into the beverage business by accident. Whilst away travelling a family friend reached out about a business opportunity to become a partner in a drinks company. Scot learnt all aspects of the beverage business and eventually took over the company. He started another brand called 24C, an emergency vitamin c packet. He sold the company after just a year. He knew how to create beverage brands which down the road lead to working with Monster Energy where he became VP of Innovation and would come up with all of Monster's flavors.
Delorme stayed at Monster for 8 years. He then partnered with Lance Collins who foundered FUSE and BodyArmor to launch A SHOC in 2019 which at the time was called Adrenaline Shoc. Scot wanted to launch a brand that was health, had no sugar that athlete's could drink. They got NSF certified started an athlete team including Paul Rodriguez (P Rod), Chase Elliott, Billy Kemper, Dashawn Jordan.
Joining us is sports performance trainer Joe Cancellieri who runs the onsite athlete gym and program at A SHOC. Joe will be running us through their fitness center and Scot will give us the lowdown on how they are building their brand and what campaigns A SHOC has coming up.

Rebecca Rusch 'Queen of Pain' Adventure Cyclist on Endurance Racing and Breaking Through the Pain Cave

Rebecca Rusch is an ultra endurance adventure athlete, 7 x World Champion, MTB & Gravel Hall of Famer, author, activist and Emmy Award Winner.
Rebecca Rusch grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and got into cross country running. In her first job out of college the office had an indoor climbing wall in the building. Rebecca was hooked and ventured across the country to climb. This opened doors to the outdoor community who got her into adventure racing leading to 10 years of adventuring racing and multiple victories in some of the world's biggest races. After a tragedy seeing a friend die in a race and sponsorship drying up Rebecca set a different path into bike riding.
Friends invited her to 24 hours of Moab Bike Race and Rebecca recorded the fastest time of any women. She started doing solo MTB races and winning due to her endurance athlete mindset. This launched the second half of her career as a cyclist. She won 24 Hour World's a few times which bridged the gap between her adventure racing and love of exploring with a new venue of cycling. Rebecca continues to do a lot of bikepacking expeditions and events including Iditarod Trail 350 in Alaska becoming the first female finisher.

Matt Burgess is the owner of Evolve Sports and the Founder of Urban Sport Fest.
Matt grew up in Newcastle, Australia into a sports mad family. He studied law at Bond University and was fortunate enough to connect his career to sport. Matt started working as an Associate General Council at the ASP now known as the World Surf League. He stayed at the WSL for 13 years and became Head of Sports Integrity.
Bridging the gap between media, sports and entertainment Matt’s knowledge of rights holders, sports events he founded The Athena. A golf concept developed while engaged with PGA and (now) WPGA. Matt later saw a gap in the market to bring the world’s best BMX athletes, action sports lifestyle, music and youth culture to Australia and created the Urban Sport Fest.

Ryan Runke — Sports Agent on Snowboarding, Athlete Management & Marketing

Ryan Runke is the Co-Founder of Homestead Creative and Vice President of Action and Olympic Sports at evolution management + marketing.
Runke grew up in Kansas City playing traditional sports and soccer competitively. He learnt to snowboard in Snow Creek Missouri when he was 15 and started skateboarding and the rest is history. After finishing school he headed to Southern County to be a snowboard bum and ended up in Breckenridge, Colorado with the goal to snowboard everyday.
Runke got his start in the action sports industry as a buyer and manager of a snowboard shop. He knew the industry was in California so he packed up his stuff and moved to San Diego and was going to figure it out. Ryan got a job with Version. This lead to working at K2 Snowboards overseeing Global Athlete Marketing. He then moved to Rome SDS as Team Director and Global Marketing Manager. Red Bull came knocking and asked Ryan to look after Travis Rice and the Art of Flight Production which became a role managing their skate and snow athletes including Shaun White and Ryan Sheckler.
Staying within athlete management he moved to the agency side first to Prime Athletes and then to evolution management + marketing where he still looks after a roaster of some of the best athletes in the surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking and skateboarding world.

Mikey Corker — Film Director on Savage Waters, Cinematographer and Nazaré

Mikey Corker is a film director, cinematographer, photographer, producer and Surfer. Mikey grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and started working as a camera assistant on feature films. He got his break working on 5 big feature films as an assistant which led to becoming a trainee clapper loader and with that experience he was away. He took a break after 5 years and went travelling bought a digital camera and taught himself how to edit. Mikey found himself in Croyde, North Devon and fell in love with the place and surf community there. He started filming his friends surfing and adventure related brand content.
Savage Waters is Mikey's first feature length film as a director. The film follows sailor and adventurer Matt Knight who was given a book which was a treasurer hunters journal published in 1892 about finding treasure on an island in the middle of the Atlantic. One passage in the book describes an incredible wave. Matt was drawn to the challenge of finding this wave in the middle of the ocean and he started hatching a plan to bring along his family, surfer and friend Andrew Cotton and Mikey to document it. Savage Waters produced by Whipped Sea is now touring the world at film festivals.

Todd Richards on Preserving Snowboarding's Culture

Todd Richards is a pro snowboarder, action sports commentator, podcaster and entrepreneur. Todd grew up in Paxton, Massachusetts and got into skateboarding and punk rock. Skating was one of the first things Todd was passionate about and he could see progression happening and that was the backbone for everything.
Snowboarding came along initially as something to do in the winter months when the vert ramps got too icy to skate. A friend introduced him to competing right at the time when the birth of snowboard halfpipes started. The rest is history. Todd went on to win multiple X Games medals, two U.S. Open halfpipe titles and was on the first ever US Halfpipe Team at the Winter Olympics in 98.
Nowadays Richards hosts the Monday M.A.S.S podcast with friend Chris Cote, commentates on various skateboarding, snowboarding and action sports events such as Dew Tour, Jackalope Festival and the Olympics for NBC. Works with Quiksilver on Marketing, is part of The Sports Management Mastermind and has a number of investment ventures.

Beaver Fleming is a pro skateboarder, Nitro Circus rider, author and motivational speaker.
Beaver Fleming grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. His brother had the Tony Hawk Pro Skater Game and that was his introduction to skateboarding. His parents were really supportive of his new found love of skating and got an 8 foot halfpipe built in the backyard. Beaver started competing and going to Camp Woodward in the summer months. When he was 17 he moved to Woodward West in California for his final year of High School. Travis Pastrana saw him skate there doing crazy tricks in the foam pit and invited him to join the Nitro Circus Tour.
On his 18 birthday he flew over to Australia to join Nitro Circus and has been with them for the last decade as their main skate athlete. Beaver has kept innovating new tricks such as the world's first Cork 720 Christ Air which he calls the “Tennessee Tornado”. He's won Best Trick at Simple Session 3 times and still competes around the world.

Declan Brooks — Pro BMX Freestyle Rider on Winning Olympic Bronze, Mindset and Dealing with Injury

Declan Brooks is a professional BMX rider and BMX Freestyle Olympic Bronze Medalist. Declan grew up in Portsmouth, UK. His Dad was into motorcycling but Dec had other ideas. He got his first BMX at 9 years old and started skipping football to ride his bike. From then on he spent every minute at the skate park. At 16 he thought that he could take BMX further and make it a career.
He worked as a plasterer on the side to get money to go to competitions. British Cycling came along and Dec became a full-time BMX Freestyle athlete with the goal to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. He was the first British athlete to get a medal in BMX Freestyle with a Bronze in 2021. Dec now has his sights set on the next Olympics, Paris 2024.

Stacy Peralta, Co-Founder of Powell & Peralta, award-winning film director and one of the most influential skateboarders of all time.
To say Stacy Peralta had an impact on skateboarding and action sports culture as a whole is a bit of an understatement. Stacy grew up in Venice, California. At the time when he started skateboarding, it didn't even exist as a sport. He joined the Zephyr Surf Team along with Jay Adams and Tony Alva. They formed a skateboard team and the rest is history. Stacy went on to tour the world as one of the first ever pro skateboarders.
Stacy knew that having a career as a pro athlete wouldn't last forever. He wanted to remaining in skateboarding and started a skate company with George Powell called Powell Peralta. He created the Bones Brigade, a team of rat bag amateur skateboarders including Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero and it became the greatest skateboard team ever. At the same time he pioneered the action sports video with the Bones Brigade Video Show and the Search of Animal Chin.
Always evolving Stacy decided to moved career paths into film directing. His documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys based on his life won the Audience Award and Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
We sat down to record this episode in Ericiera, Portugal after Patagonia's European Premiere of his latest film documentary, The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez.

Jimmy The Giant — YouTuber on Parkour, Building an Audience and Content Creation

Kieren Owen, otherwise known as YouTuber Jimmy The Giant or The Internet’s Louis Theroux is a storyteller, musician and sub culture enthusiast.
Kieren got hooked on two things at an early age, parkour and making videos. Growing up he had a group of mates who he would practice parkour with and film. They created a parkour lifestyle brand called Marrero Gang. The company fell apart after a few years. He still wanted to make videos and had built a name for himself as Jimmy The Giant through music. He took over the Marrero Gang YouTube Channel. His first documentary on the new channel called ‘How One Man Nearly Destroyed Parkour’ went viral.
Jimmy The Giant continued to create documentary style videos about parkour. He then expanded out into content on interesting sub cultures and action sports targeting a larger audience. He’s now gone full time as a content creature building his YouTube channel to 229k subscribers and over 41 million views.

Truls Brataas is an engineer, CEO and founder of Db Journey. Growing up in Oslo, Norway, Truls started snowboarding. He got a scholarship to study Entrepreneurship in Utah and spent most of the time on the slopes. When he returned he wanted to continue studying and did a MSc in Mechanical Engineering back home. 3 years into the course Truls went travelling around the world, surfing, hiking and exploring.
In 2009 on a surfing trip in Norway Truls met freeski legend Jon Olsson. They bonded on action sports and the idea of trying to redefine travel gear and enhance better journeys. Truls worked on a ski bag prototype in his student dorm room using his life savings. He went to China to find the right factory and in 2012 they officially launched Db to the world. 10 years on and Db have produced backpacks, carry bags, luggage and accessories for outdoor lifestyles and travel. They are a 5-time Gaselle award winner and multiple ISPO design award winner with over 60 staff and ship worldwide.

Sophie Everard is a journalist, consultant, entrepreneur, adventurer, amplifier and storyteller of Women in Sport.
Growing up by the sea in Greece and Portugal Sophie then moved to the UK for high school and University. After studying she took a year out and did a season learning to snowboard in the Alps. Sophie decided to move to London to seek out her first job in the action sports industry. She started off doing sales for Cooler Magazine but her passion was always to write. She would write stories on the side which lead to her next role working as PR Manager at Oakley.
Being obsessed with sports Sophie became a personal trainer and would teach classes in the evenings at a female only gym. She saw a gap in the market and started Mad To Live, a media and travel brand putting on adventure and action sports retreats around the world.
Sophie is currently the women’s editor at Wavelength Surf Magazine and hosts the Drop In Sessions podcast a show which covers amazing women in sport. She is also on the board of trustees for the Wave Project Charity and has just launched a new CBD brand called Lunalixir.

Oliver Percovich — Skateistan Founder on Skateboarding in a War Zone

Oliver Percovich is the founder and executive director of Skateistan, a nonprofit organization that uses skateboarding as a means of empowering youth and promoting education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
Percovich was born in Australia and grew up skateboarding in the streets of Melbourne. In 2007, he moved to Kabul, Afghanistan. He decided to turn his passion for skateboarding into a way to make a difference in the lives of young people. In 2009, Percovich founded Skateistan, which initially operated out of a small skatepark in Kabul. The organization quickly gained popularity and expanded to include a school that provides free education to children in grades 1 through 9. Skateistan now providing skateboarding and educational programming to over 4,000 young people each week.
Percovich has received numerous awards including the World Skateboarding Federation's Humanitarian Award and the Australian Youth Mentorship Award. He has also been recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. Percovich is also a member of the International Olympic Committee's Athletes' Commission and a board member of the Tony Hawk Foundation, which supports the creation of public skateparks in underserved communities around the world.

Beau Nixon — Stand Up Paddler on SUP Surfing and Travel With A Paddle

Beau Nixon is a Stand Up Paddler, SUP Coach, Podcaster, Commentator and Founder of Travel With A Paddle.
Nixon was born in NSW, Australia and before he could walk his dad had him on the nose of his longboard. Growing up by the coast he got into competing at longboarding, winning the Australian Junior Longboard Championships. He was then introduced to Stand Up Paddling in 2002 and the rest is history. Nixon would compete in as many SUP events as he could and became Australian Open Stand Up Paddle Champion. He qualified for the SUP World Tour and competed for a number of years along with honing his skills as a Stand Up Paddle Coach and surf guide.
In 2019 Nixon created his own SUP Travel Company called Travel With A Paddle. They offer epic SUP Holidays to locations like Costa Rica, The Maldives and Mozambique. He is also a writer and contributor for SUPboarder Magazine and commentates for the APP World Tour.

Teddi Dean from Pro Skateboarder to Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher

Teddi Dean grew up in Huntington Beach, California where he was deeply involved in surfing and skateboarding culture. He competed extensively and was sponsored by Vans and Powell and Peralta. He was a member of the iconic Bones Brigade team during the late 70's and early 80s along side Tony Hawk, Mike McGill and Steve Caballero. Teddi had a deep interest in spirituality, which led him to yoga and mindfulness meditation and has deep appreciation for the Dharma and the teachings of the Buddha.
Currently, Teddi leads the Mindfulness component at the Modern Elder Academy in Southern Baja, Mexico, a middle-age wisdom school started by The Making of a Modern Elder best selling author Chip Conley. Along with his work at the academy, Teddi has done multiple workshops at Clif Bar and healthcare companies like Vocera.

Jeremy Grant is an award winning film director, mountain biker, skier and family man.
Jeremy grew up in Nelson, British Colombia, Canada and was hooked on watching and wanting to make ski movies. Some friends in his high school class got into mountain biking. These friends just so happened to be some of the best freeride mountain bikers at the time including Mike Kinrade, Robbie Bourdon and Joe Schwartz to name a few. Jeremy opted to hold the camera when the boys started sending 20 foot drops on their bikes.
Jeremy started as an editor for Freeride Entertainment on the New World Disorder films back in 2003. He went on to become Cinematographer and built his way up to creative director until going out as a freelancer in 2019.
Jeremy’s the man behind the iconic Red Bull Rampage content production and event livestreaming. He’s been to every Rampage for 21 years as well as directed around the world from the Himalayas to the Gobi Desert, from sold-out concerts in L.A. to uninhabited islands at the North Pole. His epic award winning mountain biking films, Where The Trail Ends, North Of Nightfall and many more have set the bar for stunning cinematography and pushed the progression of what we know as freeride mountain biking today.

Growing up surfing in Western Australia provided Ian 'Kanga' Cairns as a 13 year old with the perfect training ground for the huge waves in Hawaii where he moved in the early 70's. Ian formed the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP), the first ever rule book and the foundation of the global surfing tour which became the WSL. In 2008 Ian Taylor became the youngest Irishman to climb to the top of the world and upon doing so raised €100,000 to build the Mt. Everest primary school in Uganda with Irish charity Fields of Life. Josh Stinton is a Charity Adventurer on a mission to take on some of the world's hardest adventure challenges to raise awareness and money for small charities. 5 years ago Josh set out on a 90km cross country skiing adventure in Vasaloppet, Sweden despite never having skied before. This was the first charity challenge that would change the course of his life forever. He has represented Australia in the downhill unicycle world championships in Spain, hand-cycled across the length of Japan, bicycled across the Atlantic Ocean (6,434 kilometres) 14 days straight and taken part in a 700km mountain bike race through the Arctic. All in the name of raising funds for small charities Josh chooses a new charity for each challenge. As a motivational speaker Josh encourages people to 'write a life story they would love to read'.

Kevin Lyman is an innovator, punk rocker, entrepreneur, philanthropist, university lecturer, event promoter and founder of the Vans Warped Tour. Nate Menninger the First Foreign Porter at Everest on the Systemic Problem of Mountaineering

Nate Menninger is an adventurer, film producer and the first foreign porter at Everest. Growing up in Boston, Menninger was lucky enough to travel from a young age. At 20 years old as a sophomore in college he made his way to Spain for the Running of the Bulls. He fell in love with not only doing something extreme but doing it in the most extreme and local way possible. After graduating he booked a ticket to Argentina and lived over there for 6 months. He went backcountry skiing in Chile and even lived in a favela in Brazil.
Menninger devoted himself to the notion of extreme adventuring. He taught himself Nepalese. He had no money but wanted to go to Nepal with the idea of filming a documentary on becoming a Himalaya Porter to aid a mount Everest expedition. He spent a month to do the trip and immersed himself in every aspect of porter life. What he discovered being a porter was so much more.

Summiting Mont Blanc with no previous climbing experience, motorbiking from London to the Sahara having passed their driving test a week before, taking on the world's first Ultra Triathlon in Patagonia and climbing El Capitan with only 18 months climbing experience.

Danny Bent has been voted as one of the 100 happiest people in the UK, he's a runner, entrepreneur and Guinness World Record holder. He use to compete for GB in Triathlon and has an insatiable appetite for adventurer, running and putting a smile on peoples faces.
In 2008 Danny cycled 9,000 miles from London to India. He's pogoed across Togo, set up Project Awesome, a free fitness class around cities in the UK and is the founder of World Relay, uniting the world through long distance running relays.

Growing up in the UK, Davi grew up riding motocross as a kid and had always been surrounded by two-wheels. He started his first business a Campervan company at 22 with his cousin. A decade ago he co-founded HKT Products a UK mountain bike distribution company. In 2016 Birks created the HKT Podcast where he chats to the world best mountain bikers, action sports athletes and personalities. He also acts as the UK Sales Agent for Red Bull's SPEC Eyewear and SAXX Underwear.

Keir Dillon from Pro Snowboarder to Cannabis Entrepreneur

Keir Dillon is considered to be one of the most stylish snowboarders of all time. He started riding for Burton Snowboards in the early 90's and had a successful 16 year career, winning 3 World Snowboard Superpipe Championships and landing on the podium at numerous events such as X Games.
Dillion became entrenched in the industry as a TV host and reporter for ESPN, X Games, and FUEL TV. Training and competing as a snowboarder created Dillon’s entrepreneur mindset and in 2010 with a group of friends they built the headphone company FRENDS which turned into a female fashion brand.
