14 Feb 2021 | Kellie Nowell (The Nowell Family Foundation) | 01:13:02
Episode 71 sees Liam speaking to Kellie Nowell, sister of the late great Bradley Nowell, singer of the legendary 90's reggae ska-punk band - Sublime. Kellie is now the spearhead of the 'Nowell Family Foundation' that provides addiction recovery services to the music community. The foundation is currently raising funds to open 'Bradley's House', a six-bed recovery facility that will provide treatment for people in the music industry with opioid addiction, regardless of their financial situation. They have partnered with LAW Records and released The House that Bradley Built, a compilation album of Sublime covers. Go pick up a copy of the album via this link. For the next two weeks, all profits from the sale of the 'Punks in Pubs' T-shirts will also go to support the foundation as well, so if you've been holding off on getting a T-shirt, now's the time to go pick one up. You can do that via this link or Google 'Punks In Pubs T-shirts Etsy' You can expect Liam and Kellie to talk about the foundation (obviously) and the compilation album. 31 Mar 2020 | Punks In Pubs Special - Laura's Transgender Story | 00:59:08
Hey everyone, Its Liam. Back in 2013, I moved away from music radio and started my journey into Radio Documentary making. My very first radio documentary is the one that you are about to hear; it also happens to be my favourite still. Its a documentary about Transgender and Laura Jane Grace. Back in 2012, Laura came out very openly in Rolling Stone Magazine as Transgender, and since then Laura has been at the for the front of Transgender issues and rights. But back in 2013 (when this doc came out), Transgender wasnt spoke about as public, and I wanted to work with laura to change that. So that what I did. The documentary is Laura's story but its Presented by the very talented Paris Lees who has gone on to be a vocal leader of Trans issues in the UK. Also, this was the last time I got to work with Mike D the former presenter of the Radio 1 Punk Rock Show when I went back to Reading Festival to interview Chuck Regain for the doc. This Doc is over five years old now, but I still think it holds up. So why am I putting this out on the Punks in Pubs Podcast? Well, three reasons, 1, I now own the documentary (The BBC own any doc you make for five years) Even though I own the doc, I have to remove all elements of the BBC from it. So at times, you may hear a random cut or a reversal of audio. 2, Today (31st March) is Trans Day Of Visibility. So seem fitting to release it today. 3. It's packed full of Punk music, and that's what we are all about. So sit back and enjoy my very first documentary. We are back on Sunday with an interview with Gallows Lags. Episode 25 sees Liam at the Signature Brew Brewery in east London talking to one of the founders, Sam McGregor (the other being Tom Bott). So why talk to Signature Brew? Well, not only is Signature Brew run by a team of punk and ska loving people, the company has a ‘punk’ ethos at its core (you will hear more about that in our chat). The brewery has also played its part in supplying and creating beers for some of the biggest and best punk festivals up and down the UK like; SlamDunk, Manchester Punk Festival, Arc Tan Gent and 2000 Trees. But it’s probably best known for creating collaboration beers with artists like Frank Turner, The Skints, The Hold Steady, Slaves, Millencolin, Mastodon, Heck and Enter Shikari (just to name a few). Liam and Sam of course talk beer (you will quickly discover that Liam knows to fuck all about beer and that Sam knows a lot!). They discuss warm breakfast beers at festivals, the craft beer company that divides opinions - BrewDog and Sam explain how the US beer, Sierra Nevada, was a beer game changer. It's not all about the beer; Sam’s other love is punk and ska music. Sam happens to have played trumpet in a few ska bands in his past and makes a link between the two industries (music and beer). Lastly, Liam and Sam talk about the punk bands that Signature Brew have already worked with, how much input these bands have in the creation of their beer (gravy beer anyone?) and Sam discusses artists he would like to work with in 2019. Looking forward to 2019, Signature Brew is looking to move to a new state-of-the-art brewhouse so they can treble capacity as well as open two new taprooms to showcase their beers and put on live gigs. To do this they need money and have therefore set up a crowd cube page where you, the listener, can invest as little as £10 or up to £25,000,000 into Signature Brew’s long-term venture. If this is something you would like to know more about then clink the link or go to www.signaturebrew.co.uk for more information on how you can invest in the future of Signature Brew. 06 Jan 2019 | Episode 30: Jeff Horton ( Owner of the 100 Club) | 01:16:51
Hello and welcome to the first Punks in Pubs podcast of 2019. Happy New Year! We are kicking off the year with a legendary venue — 100 Club. Seeing as the club can't talk, Liam talks to the owner Jeff Horton. They are sat in the same graffiti-riddled dressing room where legends of music such as Jimmy Hedrix, Paul McCartney , The Who, The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Black Flag, The Jam, The Damend (to name a few) have sat before - playing to the club's intimate capacity of just 350 people! In that room, with the 100 Club dog sat by Liam's side, Jeff and Liam talk history, music and legacy. You will hear names dropped all over the place from Paul Weller to John Lydon to Matt Willis (of Busted). You will also hear stories about how Sid Vicious' actions marked one of the worst days of Jeff's dad's life, how his punk ethics could have had Paul McCartney killed and how the club can be credited for giving Jools Holland life! They, of course, talk about the 1976 Punk Festival that was held at the 100 Club over two days. Bands such as The Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Jam, The Vibrators and The Stranglers "performed" over these two days. This event would change the club and punk forever! You will hear how the club came to be in Jeff's family and how the club came within weeks of shutting its doors forever if it wasn't for a man named Richard Copcutt! Liam and Jeff talk about venue closures and how politicians need to do more to safeguard venues like the 100 Club so the next wave of British music has a home to learn their craft. Jeff talks about his love for punk as well as the two-week punk festival that he puts on himself every Jan. It's going on right now so make sure you go check out the line up online www.the100club.co.uk Lastly, they discuss the 100 Club book that's been created in partnership with Fred Perry and what the future holds for the club moving into 2019. 19 Jan 2019 | Episode 31: The Ranger Movie | 01:01:37
Watcha! Episode 31 sees Liam at The Royal George Pub in Soho talking to director; Jenn Wexler, producer; Heather Buckley and for a short amount of time actor; Chloe Levine. Together they created the award-winning new horror movie - The Ranger.
This interview was recorded during the height of London's FrightFest where Jenn was the first female director to open the festival with the film.
Having been brought up on punk herself, Jenn's passion for the genre pours out of the movie with a soundtrack that features bands like The Atom Age; The Authorities; Black Lungs; The Avengers; DayGlo Abortions and FANG. Producer, Heather's love for punk is apparent from her first breath in this interview (in a past life Heather was a Fangoria contributor). If punk and horror is your thing, this episode could become your favourite.
So what can you expect from this natter? Of course, we talk about the movie as well as the killer punk soundtrack... and reveal what horror movies scared the living bejeezus out of us as a kids as well as what scares us now.
Jenn and Heather talk punk and discovery of the sound, and Chloe explains how discovering punk for the first time (having not listened to or experienced a punk show before the movie) has led her to take on the punk-rock attitude into her real life. As well as all that we talk about the need for more women to be seen to be creating movies, the closure of venues and Liam asks "if being dubbed a B-Movie is like being labelled a pop-punk artist?"
You can watch the trailer here. If you are based in the US, you can rent and stream the movie via RedBox the rest of us can pick it up on Blu-ray/DVD on Amazon and it will be made available soon on the horror streaming service, Shudder, soon.

This week's new Punks in Pubs episode ties in with WrestleMania (the World Cup or Superbowl for wrestling fans)!
Liam went to Bethnal Green in London and spoke to Emily Read the co-creator of the all-female, punk charged pro-wrestling organisation - Eve Wrestling.
So what do they talk about?
Punk and wrestling of course! Liam digs into Emily's past love of punk rock, they discuss the link between punk culture and wrestling while Emily also schools Liam on what size a man has to be before she sees them as a “Big Man”!
Emily talks about her path into wrestling, a path that sadly involved sexual assault; an issue that Emily believes still blights women wrestling.
We also discuss a subject that is close to this podcast's heart, and that's mental health. Emily opens up about her mental health and how it nearly took her life.
If you have been affected by any of the above issues, you can reach out to professionals who can help like the Samaritans or The Survivors Trust.
Back to wrestling and music - they talk about the perfect wrestling attire as well as the importance of that ring walk music.
To celebrate this punk wrestling special all the music featured in this episode is wrestling themed with music from Secretions, Antiseen, Cheap Pop and WWE Hall of Famer Litas band The Luchagors
As always, a new or unsigned band playing out the show and this week they're a punk band based out of Kiev, Ukraine. They're called 'Cardinal Birds' - a band your ears need to hear.

09 Jun 2019 | Episode 39 : Joey Cape (Lagwagon) | 01:13:33
Liam is at Slam Dunk Festival where he sat down with Joey Cape. Most punks will know Joey as the vocalist for 'Lagwagon', but some will also know him as the guitarist for the punk-rock super cover band 'Me First and the Gimme Gimmes'. You might not know that he was also the lead vocalist for the experimental group, 'Bad Astronaut', until they disbanded due to the death of two drummers. Joey has also released several solo albums; one of which is available to pre-order now via this link.
In this episode, you will hear Liam and Joey discuss the final season of Game Of Thrones (SPOILER ALERT!). Joey talks about being the wrong height for the mosh pit and how Fat Mike thought 'Lagwagon' were "too metal" when the band became the first artists to be signed to Fat Wreck Chords.
You will also hear about Joey being a little pissed off at first of the success of 'Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' and how 'Ruin Jonny's Bar Mitzvah' is still making Joey smile 15 years after its release.
Joey relives the Revival Tour 10 years on when he played with the likes of Chuck Ragan, Frank Turner and At The Drive In's Jim Ward.
They finish up with Liam asking Joey to talk about 'Bad Astronaut', and the deaths of Derrick Plourde and Erik Herzog (both former drummers of the band) and that leads to them talking about the death of Tony Sly and mental health.
As always your band play out the show and this week is a band from Helsinki, Finland called TERESA BANKS so stick around for that.
Lastly, Liam announces that Punks In Pubs will be going to Punk Rock Holiday to represent and will be looking to interview several bands on the bill for your pleasure.

23 Jun 2019 | Episode 40 : Richard Copcutt | 01:10:40
Episode 40 sees Liam back from his time in Berlin sitting down with a pint and a bag of nuts in a pub in Soho, London with Richard Copcutt. Some of you may not know of Richard, so here are the only three things you need to know; Richard has been credited for saving the world famous 100 Club, he was able to do this because he was the GM for the global sneaker brand Converse and Richard loves his punk music. So what tales can you expect from this episode? You will hear Richard relive stories of running away from home at 15 because his old man wouldn't let him go see a Discharge show. This lead to him experiencing squatter punk life for the first time, a life he would end up living at the age of 18 in London as the drummer of the 80's punk act, Soldiers Of Destruction. It was while playing for this band (supporting the English Dogs) that Richard got banned from the 100 Club; a club he would come to save 20+ years later! Richard relives the running battles punks would have with skinheads throughout the '80s and how watching the UK Subs changed his life forever. Liam asks Richard to explain 'how a young punk who was getting in fights and squatting in North London would go on to become the GM of the global powerhouse Converse?'. During his time with Converse, he pushed the company to embrace its punk ideology and by doing so, set up collaborations with Ramones, The Clash, Sex Pistols and Trash Talk. But ultimately his punk beliefs made him re-evaluate his time at the company once Nike sent in their own people. We, of course, talk about how Richard played his part in saving the 100 Club and we end with Richard telling the story of how he lived a childhood dream drumming for the UK Subs. Playing out the show this episode is a band based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania called The Filthy Lowdown, so stick around for that. And finally, Liam asks you the listener to support the podcast by donating a little petrol money towards the podcast's next road trip across Europe (to donate click the link or visit www.gofundme.com/get-punks-in-pubs-to-punk-rock-holiday). In this episode, you will hear Tim talk about the ordeal that these punks had to go through, like being beaten by the cops, imprisoned and sent to 'reform camps' just because of the music they listen to and how they looked.
You will also hear how the Lutheranism church supported the Punk Movement, and Tim will also explain how these punks that included members of Rammstein, fought back and played a role in the underground movement that helped bring down the Berlin Wall.
Away from Punk, I discover why an American wanted to go to East Germany in the 80's, and Tim relives going to a British pub for the first time and not knowing if he was going to get into a fight! Below are a few links to some of the East German bands Tim talked about (Planlos, Namenlos, Feeling B) If you would like to vote for Punks in Pubs for the best indie podcast, please do that by clicking this link and scroll to the bottom of the page and vote for us If you would like to sponsor the show for FREE, you can do so my recording an MP3 audio file on your phone promoting your work and emailing it alongside the music you want to play to punksinpubs@gamil.com.

21 Sep 2019 | Marky Ramone (Mini) Special | 00:23:17
We are back after our unscheduled prolong hiatus with a Mini Special; we sat down with the legendary drummer Marky Ramone. The original plan was to sit down for an hour with Marky and speak about early life and then onto the Ramones and beyond but… Marky got into London late and as you will hear in the interview that hour-long chat was cut short by his tour manager, little to my knowledge beforehand! So, the original plan was to tag it to the end of the already released Episode 42 Ramones Museum episode. Kind of like a re-release but that went to shit when the hard drive kamikaze itself. I didn't want the short interview to go to waste as what we had was good stuff, so we’ve created this short special. We will be back for reals in October, you can help the podcast get back on its feet by going to pick up a T-shirt via our Etsy site, or you can donate via the ''Go-fund' me page. Until October x Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/punksinpubs)Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

05 May 2019 | MPF Live Show Special: Sully O'Sullivan and Red Redmond | 00:47:24
Hello and welcome to this Manchester Punk Festival Live show special.
The original plan was to keep the live recordings as stand-alone episodes, but the audio quality is a little shit... Not wholly shit, but not the normal standard we like to offer to you lovely people.
This is the first of live shows I will be putting out over the next couple of weeks.
This episode will see Punk and Stand up Comedy collide as Liam sat down with two punk loving comedians Sully O'Sullivan and Red Redmond (AKA Scarlet So Handsome).
So what kind of stupid questions does Liam ask these very talented people? Well, you will find out the answers to what makes an excellent MC and how do you work a crowd that wants nothing to do with you! Red gives their account to why "edgy comics are "dull as fuck!" and Sully explains why being a stand up is very much like being a DIY touring punk band.
You can also expect Red to talk about their most pit experiences and Sully educated Liam on New Zealand punk back in the day or the lack of it!
the subject matter of safe spaces and freedom of speech is also muttered, but there is a lot of other shit to enjoy as well.
If you enjoy the episode and watch to catch Sully or Red live you can do that by clicking on their names, and the links will take you to their websites to check out there live shows. Also if you live in and around Manchester head on over to one of Reds comedy nights at the Dead Cat Comedy.
Just because of it a bonus episode, we don't forget about your band. Playing out this episode will be a fun-loving thrashy punk/ska band based in Austin, TX called Hans Gruber and the Die Hards. So stick around for that.
Thank you to all who turned up and supported the podcast at MPF and thank you to MPF for hosting us.
We will be back for episode 37 on Sunday 12th with the New Town Kings. Till next time. Bye. Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/punksinpubs)Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
