One of Danny Jarvis' all-time favoruite D&B DJ, Artist and producer is LTJ Bukem often accompanied by the legendary lyricist MC Conrad. This is a live set from Cosmic Twilight last year. D&B doesn't ever age and the genre has evolved beautifully over the years incorporating elements of jazz, ambient, and other genres particularly in Bukem's sets and shows.

LTJ Bukem, whose real name is Danny Williamson, is a British drum and bass musician, producer, and DJ. He gained prominence in the early 1990s for his contributions to the development of the atmospheric and intelligent drum and bass subgenre. Bukem is also the founder of the influential record label Good Looking Records, which has released many classic and influential drum and bass tracks.

I first heard the track on an LTJ Bukem tape in 1993. LTJ Bukem, whose real name is Danny Williamson, is a legendary figure in the realm of drum and bass music. As a producer, DJ, and label owner of Good Looking Records, Bukem has made significant contributions to the genre and has had a profound impact on its development.

Bukem's musical journey began in the late 1980s, when he started DJing in his hometown of London, England. Inspired by the emerging sounds of acid house and the burgeoning rave scene, he developed a deep passion for electronic music. However, it was his exploration of the breakbeat-driven rhythms and intricate basslines of jungle and drum and bass that would define his career.

My birthday is April 5th and my Mum's was on April 9th. This was a close bond we shared when she was alive. So, during the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic I wanted to lift my spirits, and thus my first 'Lost In' Project aired on Thursday 9th April 2020 on Facebook. During the entire lockdown and mixed live on Facebook, before they shut it down, Lost In was reaching 100's of people in their homes and gardens over the 4 and 5-hour-long genre-spanning mixes. The project ran for two and a half years continuing on Mixcloud. 83 mixes in total! This mix is a throwback to those special Thursday evenings mixed live on air with the Lost in Faithful from around the world connecting together online. I'm still full of gratitude for this project and how it reached like-minded, gentle souls who love their electronic music mashed up into a weekly audio journey. The mix was played on 7th April 2022. Lee's Bio: Lee is no stranger to Progressive House UK. He’s one of very few DJ’s to have mixed two Guest Mixes for us and was one of the very first members of the group. We’re delighted to have him on board the resident team.

He’s made of solid stuff too. His music journey started, like many of us older folk, with rave & hardcore. The mighty Carl Cox ‘the 3 deck wizard’ was just as big then as he is today. Slipmatt, Ratpack, Grooverider and Fabio all played records that had a distinctive sound of the early rave era which were hugely addictive and very hard to get hold of especially before the rave scene started to become more popular and divide into sub-genres.

Next came a huge influence in the form of hard-house from the legendary Tony de Vit. De Vit in particular was one of the earliest pioneers of tight, long mixes and despite his more famous faster ‘Trade’ persona, would play a hugely varied chunky sound which he toured up and down the UK clubs with igniting audiences. You can hear that influence in Lee’s mixes if you know what you’re looking for. 

Like so many of us, it was the galvanizing and genre uniting duo Sasha & Digweed who most obviously influenced Lee’s progressive style. Producers like Quivver & Laurent Garnier also pricked his ears for production quality and uniqueness.

Today Lee sights artists and producers such as Ivory, Antrim, Coiz, Re. you and Hoj as particular favourites.

Earlier Downtempo influences from artists like Massive Attack and Zero 7 can still be heard in the more gentle areas of Lee’s music.
