Practical Prepping Podcast Episode # 16 "A Woman's View Of Prepping: Ten Tips For Ladies Prepping That Men Need To Hear As Well."
Traditionally, prepper books, forums, and websites are geared toward men, originated by men. While that's certainly alright, more women are actively preparing for emergencies and disasters and definitely appreciate another female viewpoint on preparedness. Diane Vukovič has created "10 Prepping Tips for Women", published in primalsurvivor.net. Men, I urge you to continue listening even though this episode is about and for adult women. In this episode we discuss a plan for prepping on a very limited budget of five dollars per week.
Sponsor: Practical Prepping For Everyday People.
This is an example of a thirteen week plan. You make it what you wish. It is designed to get you started, and get you stocked up on food. It is flexible in that you can change it to suit your need. It is also scaleable to whatever budget you have. We'd love to hear your feedback.
Do not use money necessary for other obligations! Do not go into debt for prepping! Get a side hustle Part time job
Most folks can find $5 per week 1 less pack of cigs, if you smoke 1 less cup of that $5 coffee 2 less fast food trips per month
Plan doesnt have enough water on this plan, so store additional using empty, washed 2 liter soda bottles.
This plan does not address special issues such as infants. You can't build a stock of diapers and formula on $5 per week.
"Dollar Store" = Dollar General, Five Below, Family Dollar etc purchases
Good place to purchase Flashlights & batteries LED lantern, light sticks Candles, matches, lighters Duct tape Aluminum foil First aid supplies
Store only foods your family will eat.
First Week - food/gear One box ramen noodles (12-24 packs) 2 AA flashlights w/ batteries Lighter or matches & candles
Second Week - food/water 2 gallons of water Bag of rice Bag of beans
Thirteenth Week Pick one: Corn meal Flour 4 lb box kosher salt $5 AA batteries $5 in first aid supplies
Additional items to add along the way Roll of duct tape Box of large trash bags Roll of aluminum foil OTC medications, but don't buy dollar store meds Short exp dates, sometimes inconsistent quality

You'll need to eat a lot more than you'll need to shoot
Store more water than you think you will need
Financial preparedness IS prepping, and it IS important
Knowledge is more important than gear

00:36:24
Practical Prepping Podcast Episode #184, "How We Can Deal With All That Is Going On In The World Today" This episode features one of Krista's original songs from her album, "I've Got A Joy" - rewind
This episode is brought to you by Covenant Music and features Krista Lawley singing the title cut from her album, "I've Got A Joy."
Worldwide we have come through a very hard two years: We have experienced Covid Lockdowns, School closures, Economic repression, Political upheaval, Skyrocketing unemployment, Business closings, Rising prices, Declining mental conditions, Mass depression, and Increasing suicides.
Now there is war in Ukraine with the threat of the use of nuclear weapons.
How do we come to a point of believing that God really is in control, that He will carry us through this?
We can Praise, Pray, or Meditate
For Christians, praise is worship Prayer connects us with our creator Meditation means "To ponder" Who we are, our strengths & weaknesses, Our Core beliefs, life's purpose, Lessons learned, And our priorities
We end todays episode with one of Krista's original songs, "I've Got A Joy"
If you would like to hear more of Krista's music, you can find her on YouTube, just search for Krista Lawley.

Krista shares the ultimate prep, which is the most important decision one can make; trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. The whole reason believers celebrate Easter, also called Resurrection Sunday, is because Jesus came to be our Savior, our Passover Lamb, to pay the penalty of death for our sins, and His resurrection from the grave proves His Lordship and power to save souls, not only for our eternal life in Heaven, but for a relationship with Him in our lives today.

Episode # 212, "Situational Awareness, A Necessary Skill To Use In Everyday Life."
00:59:12
Practical Prepping Podcast Episode # 212, "Situational Awareness, A Necessary Skill To Use In Everyday Life."
Maybe you see some of the same problems we have observed. People have their face in their phones and don't pay attention. We've seen them step into traffic, run into poles, and one even fell into a fountain, all because they were not paying attention.
Situational awareness can be broken down into three components, observation, comprehension, and projection. We explain each one, and how they fit together to help you make good decisions based on good information, and thereby keep your family and yourself safe.
In this episode, we discuss situational awareness in a number of scenarios. Here's a few we discuss: eating in restaurants, in parking lots, exiting businesses, malls, doctors offices, etc., and returning to your vehicle. We discuss getting gas, Using ATMs, returning home, how to tell and what to do if you are being followed.
Situational awareness principles apply to daily life as well as SHTF situations.
Keep your head on a swivel, stay aware of your situation, and make good decisions based on good information.
Stuff happens. Stay prepared!

Episode #217, "Learning as you go, in life, as well as in prepping"
00:25:58
Practical Prepping Podcast Episode #217, "Learning as you go, in life, as well as in prepping"
We should strive to improve each time we do something, in all areas of life. Seek to increase your prepping knowledge regularly Work to improve our prepping skills each week or each month
Understand That We Will Make Mistakes Do not fear failure, or making mistakes, unless you are a bomb disposal technician. Thomas Edison, when questioned about having unsuccessfully tried thousands of times to make a working lightbulb, replied, "I have not failed.... I've just found 10,000 ways that wont work"
Learn from our mistakes What went right? What went wrong? What can we do better next time?
Learn from the mistakes of others What did they do wrong? What could they have done to avoid the mistake?
Try doing old things in new ways We're not reinventing the wheel here, but looking for little improvements in systems or procedures ie: A better way to inventory your food or your water storage, or rain water collection
Remember that we can learn something from everyone Sometimes What/How to do Sometimes What/How not to do
Doing a "hot wash," "post mortem," or "after-action" of an event or practice and make notes What did we do right? Or what went right? What did we do wrong? Or What went wrong? Analyze the information And Develop a plan
Commit to the learning process ! Learn something every day Read something every day Books, journals, website, articles, magazines, forums, social media groups (may have to filter thru the clutter) Even if only for a few minutes each day Watch/listen to something once or twice each week Youtube videos, podcasts, especially while driving
Recapping Learn as you go Don't fear mistakes Figure out what you did right or did wrong Try doing old things in new ways ie: Fire starting, water filtration, Commit to the learning process
Do these things and you will be light years ahead down the road.

In this episode we discuss: "Having A Positive Mental Attitude and Survival Mindset, And Dealing With Stress"
"A positive mental attitude will not let you do anything, but it will let you do everything better than a negative attitude will". - Zig Ziglar
" Whatever the mind can conceive, and believe, the mind can achieve" - Napolean Hill
"We become what we think about" - Earl Nightingale
We all know people who are so negative that we often hate to see them coming. We also know people who are so positive, to quote Ziglar again, they "would go after Moby Dick and take the tarter sauce with them."
In such a time when we need to use our preps or put our emergency plans into action, the stresses mount up. Stress can impede our performance in areas of memory, decision making, and multitasking, as well as increase fatigue.
Two basic types of stress: chronic stress and acute stress.
Chronic Stress Remove the stress, if possible Take some deep breaths Take a break Break things down in to smaller tasks Count to 10 before speaking or responding Take a break from news & social media Develop Regular routines Prepping relieves stress & worry Make a plan and work your plan
Acute stress Train to handle acute stress Visualize Scenerios The mind doesn't know the difference between visualization and the actual doing of a thing. A Survival mindset says, "I am ready, I will prevail" A survival mindset is the prepper mindset. We decide ahead of time that we will survive most any situation and that we will do what it takes to protect our family.
Decide ahead of time what you will do. Acknowledge there will be stress Plan for the stress Plan a course of action
What are you willing to do to save your family or to save your own life? Are you willing to turn others away when there is little food? Are you willing to take another's life?
We decide ahead of time that we wont let the situation drag us down. We prepare. We train. We visualize scenarios so that when we get there we are prepared because in our minds, we have already been there.
Find ways to relieve your stress
Have some fun

00:35:24
Practical Prepping Podcast Episode #225, Reporting Storm Spotter Information To The National Weather Service."
In this episode, we discuss what and how to make storm spotter reports to the National Weather Service, even if you have not had the Storm Spotter training.
What To Report:
Tornadoes, funnel clouds, rotating wall clouds Hail one inch, or quarter-sized, or larger. (Do not use "pea sized" or "marble sized" in reports, use standard measurements or coin sizes for reports) Wind speed, 58+ mph, measured or estimated Wind damage to trees, roofs, structures, or downed power lines.
Check your local National Weather Service website to find the ways to reports to them. You can make phone reports, online reports, for most local offices, and apps for others.
We discourage "storm chasing" for the untrained and inexperienced, but we certainly encourage you to get "storm spotter" training.

Episode #227, "Cooking Without Electricity."
00:22:36
