26 Oct 2021274: How to keep yourself going when you want to quit00:20:16

Hey friends, thanks so much for tuning into the podcast and I’m going to keep it real with you today. I mean I always do but today I’m going to keep it really real. I have had moments where I want to quit on my big idea. There I said it. Hopefully this lets you know that if you have had the thought, even if you’ve fantasized about how much easier life would be if you just threw in the towel and you didn’t keep going on your big idea, you are not alone. This is something that I think if you asked any successful entrepreneur they have had moments where they thought about quitting. If you’ve had these moments the first thing to know is that it is not a sign that you should quit, that you should not keep going. But I also think that what you would find in common between the people who’ve achieved success in any way you measure success is that they have had those feelings but they kept going anyway. You’ll want to keep this episode as a pep talk to yourself when you feel like quitting.

In this episode we talk about:

  • We feel like quitting most when we are getting outside of our comfort zone
  • Cultivating belief in yourself
  • Playing out the worst case scenario + the best case scenario
  • Supporting yourself with the right kind of community

21 Mar 2023The EXACT Steps I Take When I’m Ready To Uplevel 00:21:12

Rather than asking someone how they achieved their success, I like to discover who they had to become in order to produce the results they have. When I think of all my biggest breakthroughs, I notice four steps that support my upleveling process, and in today’s episode, I’m giving an overview of what those look like. The more you lean into this strategy, the faster you’ll start to experience momentum in your life and business.

If you want to dive deeper on this topic and surround yourself with the most supportive group of like-minded women, check out the Girl Gang Community!

In this episode we talk about:

  • One of the fastest ways to identify the parts of yourself that don't match where you're going next

  • Why being able to visualize your future self is so important

  • Using the power of your thoughts and words to bring your vision to life

  • What it means to take ‘aligned’ action

  • Learning to trust the process, even when you can’t see the results yet

07 Jun 2022347. How To Boldly Ask For What You Want00:26:05

I’m sharing a sneak peek into one of our Girl Gang Membership monthly mindset calls! This session was all about how to boldly ask for what you want in business and life. We chat about getting clear on not only what we want, but also the possibilities of what we can have. I share some really great questions from Amanda Frances’ book Rich As F*ck that have helped me hone in on what I should be asking more boldly for. We also talk about what stops us from asking in the first place and the fears that are getting in our way. I break down a few examples of how I’ve been putting this into practice and offer up a challenge for everyone to take action.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Getting honest about what you truly want, no matter how big or impossible it seems
  • Input from Girl Gang members about the things that are actively stopping them from asking for what they want
  • Noticing places in your life where you’re willing to settle for less
  • Proof that you can get what you want in a kind and polite way
  • Simple steps to start making one bold request every single day

If you’ve been doing the side hustle thing for a while you might be wondering--how do I know when to make the leap into full time entrepreneurship? I hear this question a LOT, and while I don’t think there is ever a one-size-fits-all answer, my guest today has a few practical tips for how to decide WHEN the timing might be right for you.

She shares how she was the LEAST likely person to become an entrepreneur, and how she navigated the transition of leaving nursing to starting multiple companies.

In this episode you will learn:

  • How to grow your identity to match the size of your vision
  • Important questions to ask yourself to determine if you’re ready to leave your job and make the leap into full time entrepreneurship

Today I’m taking you through the mid-year review that I’m personally doing for my life, my business, and my HEART. I hope you’ll carve out some time to do this exercise with me!

In this episode we talk about:

The three areas in your life to review for a mid year check in

22 Mar 2022325. Are You Letting Your Inadequacies Stop You? Or Serve You?00:15:17

What if the thing that you think makes you inadequate is actually meant to be a part of your impact? If you’re willing to be grateful for the thing that is standing in your way and see it as your potential for even greater impact, you can start to take away its power and it will become less scary. I’m sharing my experience with confronting my insecurities and three reasons why you should absolutely reframe the things that are holding you back. You have the opportunity to prove to people that if you can do it, so can they. What’s stopping you?

In this episode we talk about:

  • The magic of empathy
  • Why you’re more relatable to your audience when you’re still on the journey yourself
  • Showing up in your imperfection
  • Being the example that you wish you had
  • My favorite story of Roger Bannister’s four-minute mile

06 Dec 2022The Business Of Community Part 5: 3 Steps To Become a More Magnetic Leader00:19:24

For the final episode of the Business of Community series, I want to break down one of the foundational elements of building community as part of your brand. I often get questions about strategy and action steps, but your personal growth journey is equally, if not more, important than having a gameplan.

You need to become the type of leader who naturally attracts the people who can really benefit from being in your community. In this episode, I explain the top three factors that have served me in the process of stepping into the best version of myself and how that journey supports the growth of Powerhouse Women.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Why working on your personal development and leadership skills is crucial for the success of your community
  • How to build more trust in yourself
  • Exploring the deeper fears and limiting beliefs that drive your patterns
  • Dedicating time to learning and self-enrichment
  • My simple litmus test for deciding on where I invest in myself

26 Apr 2022335. My Biggest Lessons Learned In 5 Years Of Powerhouse Women00:36:55

We are officially celebrating five years of Powerhouse Women! I wanted to share a little bit more behind the scenes of the journey and the evolution over the last five years, but most importantly, three of my biggest lessons that are going to relate to all of you, no matter where you are currently at in the pursuit of your big dream.

I touch on what inspired me to write Powerhouse Woman, the spark that made me want to create something bigger than just the book, and some of the pivotal moments from the past five years. I’ve bumped up against so many upper limits that I had subconsciously set for myself, and I’m here to tell you about what I’ve learned by breaking through those mindset blocks. It’s the honor of my life to get to steward this vision, and I’m so grateful for everyone who I’ve come into contact with because I took that giant, scary leap five years ago.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How I decided to step beyond what I knew I was capable of
  • The first ever Powerhouse Women event, and how I’ve been able to scale it since
  • Confronting my fears of disappointing people
  • Wrestling with the need for certainty
  • Why you need a next-level support system
  • Letting go of the identity that I had created based off of other people's opinions
  • Chasing the freedom to fully be myself and put my heart into something that matters

It’s so fun to have a platform where we get to feature amazing women and we want to use it to feature more of you and share more stories from women who are at all different stages of their business journey. So today’s session is a mentor session with one of the members of our very own Powerhouse Women Six Figure School. I can’t wait for you to meet her and listen in on our live mentor session. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!

Through the heartbreaking death of her daughter and unborn grandchild, Gaylene has discovered that nature has a healing quality that allows for reflection, renewal, and recovery. She has spent many hours asking questions of parents to discover what they struggle with the most. The answers provide the inspiration for her articles, videos, and grief support hikes. She believes a positive mindset is crucial to healing and has a backpack full of tools to help parents tell grief to take a hike.

She has been trained in companioning the bereaved and volunteers at her local grief center. Her experience has allowed her to be available for those who are struggling with their loss.

Gaylene guides parents along this journey with love, empathy, and respect for their own mourning timeline. Healing is possible.

In this episode we talk about:

11 May 2021215: Hustle vs rest: What it really looks like to be an entrepreneur00:13:52

Today I’m answering a question right from our community and it’s a good one. What is your philosophy on hustle vs rest? Ironic I’m recording this episode on a Friday really looking forward to some rest time because it has been a season of hustle. Today I’m going to share just a couple thoughts about what it really looks like. Like actually how much I work. How many hours a day in a week I put in and how I make sure to balance that with rest because I do believe there are seasons for both hustle and rest and the key to long term success and sanity is learning to distinguish the difference.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Recognizing what season of life you’re in
  • Learning to develop self-awareness
  • Not comparing your version of hustle vs rest to anyone else’s

19 Sep 2023 Strengthen Your Intuition, Know When To Let Go or Pivot + Make Room For Growth with These Four Questions00:31:17

How do you tell the difference between something you need to stick with and see through vs something it’s time to let go of? We made a big decision recently here at Powerhouse Women to phase something out that was actually doing well, but knew it was time to let go in order to make space for what's next. In this episode, I’m sharing 4 key questions that will strengthen your intuition and give you the confidence to know if you’re on the right path or it’s time to make a pivot. In this season, we happen to be in a place of creating space for some new things that we know are going to be massive! Whether you are in a season of sticking with the thing you’re meant to be building or whether it’s time for you to pivot, this episode is full of the questions that will help gain clarity on the next best move (or not) that's meant for you!

HIGHLIGHTS

03:15 How do you know when to stick with something vs let it go?

07:30 Key questions to ask to gain clarity on why you’re feeling called to walk away.

13:00 What fears do you have around making a change or letting something go? (Especially when it’s “working”.)

19:45 The big decision we made to phase out something within Powerhouse Women.

24:00 How 2,000 people were able to opt in for the virtual Powerhouse Women ticket because we let something go.

Those who really know me know that I have a heart for mentoring women and girls of all ages, especially those in middle and high school. Today I get to share two of my favorite women on the planet with you, the founders of Girls Mentorship Mary Foran and Jill Peterson.

( 6:08 ) Lindsey asks Rachel to share a moment when she made a bold decision that didn’t make sense to other people, but she followed her intuition despite the outside judgment.

( 10:52 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “Talk to me about how you have really strengthened your intuition or learned to listen faster in those moments?”

( 13:22 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “What is a tangible step that we can develop, or a tool to help us tune in to the guidance that I think is actually within all of us if we're willing to listen?”

( 15:11 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “Where's that sweet spot that we can tap into the subconscious?”

( 17:28 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “Why is it so powerful to seek out examples of the fact that what we want is possible?”

( 20:19 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “If you had one message to share with the whole world, where are you sharing that? How big is this platform? And what are you talking about?”

( 22:24 ) Lindsey asks Rachel, “Tell us a little bit about your vision for Elevate and Amplify.”

( 24:47 ) Lindsey and Rachel discuss pivotal and transformational moments that they’ve experienced at mastermind events.

04 Nov 2021278: How To Work With Your Menstrual Cycle To Maximize Your Creativity And Productivity with Dr. Erin Ellis00:33:25

While we may sometimes forget it, women are just not wired like men––I’m talking hormones and menstruation! These two things can seriously throw us off of our game, but instead of struggling through it, let’s understand how it all works so we can use our cycles and hormones to our advantage. Today, Dr. Erin Ellis joins me to help educate us females on how female cycles work and when to know if it is time to rest, or time to get those creative juices flowing!

Dr. Erin Ellis is a cancer survivor who learned through her health journey that you shouldn't take your health for granted which inspired her to pursue her dreams and she became a Naturopathic Doctor. She now empowers women to be their best versions because she learned through her journey that life is too short to feel sub-optimal and given the right tools, your body has the innate ability to heal itself.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How mentorship scaled her from an underpaid female with a medical degree to a 6-figure self-employed physician
  • How you can use your menstrual cycle for productivity in business and in life!
  • Reasons why you might be feeling sick and tired
  • Common causes for brain fog that might be hindering your motivation
  • Why self-care is important for the entrepreneur

28 Jun 2022353. THIS Is Your Biggest Opportunity For a Breakthrough 00:21:53

I’m putting it all out there and sharing the ways that my mind sabotages or starts to create shortcuts when I’m up against a challenge. The moment that you want to quit or justify staying in your comfort zone is the greatest opportunity for a breakthrough. The sense of pride and confidence that lives on the other side of doing new and difficult actions is unmatched. So where are you selling yourself short and robbing yourself of that experience? Listen in to hear about my experience with self-sabotage and how I’ve learned to rewrite that narrative.

In this episode we talk about:

  • The first thing that I do when I want a new result in any area of my life
  • Getting real about the excuses that I make for myself in the gym
  • How it feels to push through discomfort and stick with a challenge
  • The hardest part of consistently choosing your new future

01 Oct 2019049: Front Row Material00:21:02

The biggest limiting factor each of us face are the beliefs we hold about ourselves and what we’re capable of. 27 Jun 2023The Secret To Shifting Negative Thoughts And Limiting Beliefs00:21:33

Throughout my season of growth, I've noticed my negative self-sabotaging thoughts resurfacing. Today, I want to share my experience with navigating these micro-aggressions and the ways I’m reframing limiting beliefs from a subconscious level. Negative thoughts are the brain's way of keeping us safe and comfortable, and abruptly replacing long-held limiting beliefs with positive thoughts may not work effectively. Instead, I offer my advice for acknowledging the negative thought with gratitude, slowing its momentum, gradually shifting its direction, and intentionally planting new beliefs.

In this episode we talk about:

- (4:27) Acknowledging the negative thoughts without judgment

- (7:05) Recognizing that thoughts have momentum

- (12:38) How to slow down your negative thought patterns

- (16:13) Setting realistic expectations for transforming long-lasting limiting beliefs

- (17:11) Understanding your protective thoughts and fostering self-compassion

12 Dec 2019070: Difficult experiences don’t have to define you, with Andy Ptacek00:45:55

Have you ever let a challenge or a difficult experience in your life start to define WHO you are and how you see yourself? Our guest today knows a thing or two about that, and she’s now sharing her story in the bestselling book “New Again” in hopes of helping others find new perspective on life, and the inevitable challenges that come with it.

At the peak of the recession, Andy Ptacek co-founded a marketing company. 10 years and a thriving business later, Andy was diagnosed with brain cancer--what her first doctor called “IN-OPERABLE” brain cancer--at just 32 years old with 2 little boys at home.

Understandably, It rocked everything. First, in a scary way. Then, in a grateful way. The journey was agonizing at times, but perspective taught her that she wasn’t damaged. The experience actually grew her self-awareness, her ability to love, her patience, her worldview, and her faith.

The “old Andy” had grown into something new –something better– and she believes we all are capable of this, even without a massively traumatic experience to shake us awake.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Choosing to pivot and why Andy started a business in the middle of a recession
  • What Andy’s battle with brain cancer taught her about priorities and gratitude
  • Learning to be “new again” after a traumatic experience

30 Jan 2020084: Why age is irrelevant when chasing your passion and how sharing our stories with others can save us with Fitness Pro and Podcast Host Helen Fritsch00:35:05

I believe that our age isn’t so much a number, it’s a MINDSET. I haven’t talked a lot about this topic on the podcast before, but I’m always looking for and surrounding myself with examples of women who are challenging what society wants us to believe is possible in our 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond--women who are reinventing themselves, starting new businesses, going back to school (or performing hip hop choreography at NBA games...if you’ve heard me talk about my love for the Golden Grannies)

When I met today’s guest last fall I knew I had to have her on the podcast to talk about this exact topic. Helen Fritsch is a 62 year old life-long competitive athlete and flight attendant turned published fitness model, IFBB bodybuilding pro, and podcaster - who is on a mission to prove that AGE is irrelevant when it comes to pursuing our deepest goals, dreams, and desires.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How sharing your own personal stories can make a massive impact.
  • The power behind understanding that YOU are not too much.
  • Why age should never hold you back from going after your goals.

10 Mar 2020095: Creating more confidence by styling yourself as the person you want to become and dropping the labels you have assigned yourself.00:16:41

What would the most confident version of you wear?⁣⁣ Something that has played a huge role in my own growth in the past few years is using my personal style to tap into the woman I want to become.

I’ve been talking more about this on my Instagram lately and so many of you have taken on the challenge to #styleyourhigherself, so I thought it was worth diving into a little deeper on the podcast and share how powerful this simple idea really can be.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Tapping into the women you want to become.
  • Breaking free from the labels you have assigned yourself.
  • The significance of showing up as your highest self before you actually become her.

19 Apr 2022333. It Doesn’t Matter Where You Start, Just Start00:23:25

April 25th, 2022 marks five years since I released Powerhouse Woman and it feels incredible to look back on how much this community has grown since then. As I’m approaching this anniversary, I’m noticing a theme that’s coming up in the groups that I’m involved in and retreats that I’ve hosted recently. So many women have this undeniable feeling inside that they’re meant for more, but maybe they’re pushing up against confusion on where to start, what the right step is, or even feeling paralyzed by the thought of making the wrong choice. I know those thought patterns all too well, and in today’s episode, I’m sharing four tips that helped me take that big leap five years ago and just start. I share how to build your confidence, breathwork exercises that help me gain clarity, and ways to capitalize on your skillset.

In this episode we talk about:

  • How to tap into your bigger vision and get moving in the right direction
  • My journey with starting this podcast
  • Why it’s more important to take the first step instead of waiting for the perfect time to start
  • Deciding if you prefer to dip your toes in the water, or cannon ball into the deep end
  • Sitting with the question, “What do I really want to do?”
  • Being honest about where you tend to take yourself out of the game
  • Figuring out what you can monetize

If you loved today’s episode, please share your favorite takeaways or your own systems and processes by screenshotting this episode and tagging us on Instagram!

17 Sep 2019045: Powerhouse Women 2019 event recap!00:27:20

We just wrapped up our BIGGEST event ever, Powerhouse Women 2019, and today I’m breaking down allllll of the magic that we experienced (including some behind the scenes stories that no one knows!)

If you were there with us, you know that this was SO much more than just another event...what we’re creating together is a MOVEMENT. And if you weren’t able to be in the room with us this year, I’m going to fill you in on what you missed because YOU are part of this movement too.

In this episode you will learn:

  • Everything starts as an idea, just like the big ideas that are trying to get your attention right now
  • We are all the same--we all experience fear and doubt in the pursuit of our big ideas. The only difference is that some people are taking action in spite of fear (and you can too!)
  • Community and connection are critical in helping you chase after your big ideas, because we are NOT meant to do business (or life) alone!

08 Feb 2022313. If I Had To Start Over And Build Powerhouse Women From Zero, Here's What I Would Do00:25:59

I was recently asked the question that if I had to start all over and build the Powerhouse Women community from zero, knowing everything I know today, but starting at zero, what would I do? Today, I’m sharing the top four things that I think would absolutely have grown the community and business so much faster if I had done them within the first 90 days of launching. I also discuss how you can reframe these tips if you’ve already established your business but are looking for a reset. Tune in to hear more about the keys to growing your audience and what I wish I knew at the beginning of my journey.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Consistently showing up on one platform
  • Repurposing content in a meaningful way
  • Staying focused on the main problem that your idea solves
  • A breakdown of how I structure my daily hour of interacting on social media
  • The power of hosting regular community engagement opportunities

28 Jul 2022Hiring 101 with Jackie Koch, Founder of People Principles 00:38:47

I’m joined by hiring expert Jackie Koch to talk all things building out your team, developing your leadership skills, and some of the not-so-fun (but very necessary) parts of taking on employees. Jackie has over 15 years of experience in the recruiting and hiring world, and she currently works with VC-funded startups and digital solopreneurs who are looking to hire.

Jackie breaks down the difference between contractors and employees and provides examples of when it’s better to hire one over the other. She shares her expertise for determining when it’s the right time to hire and how to narrow down what kind of seat you need to fill in your business. Jackie also has some amazing tips on how to craft the perfect job description and create a seamless hiring process. Plus, she gets real about how to handle uncomfortable conversations around poor performance, firing, and/or laying off an employee.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Common misconceptions about what a W2 employee is
  • Why bringing on an assistant isn’t always the best first hire
  • Simple ways to dial in on your SOPs
  • Tips for ensuring that your job description stands out to the right person
  • Creative ways to weave your employer brand into your marketing
  • The importance of having regular one-on-one meetings and touch points with your employees
