The Occupation: its legacy looms large over the entire Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series, with the scars of that brutal era still felt by Bajor years later. However, not much has been told about the start of the occupation; what was Bajor like before the Cardassians came? What drove Cardassia to commit the crimes of the occupation? With the publication of the tenth and final novel (for now) of the adventures of Voyager under Kirsten’s guiding hand, we find the crews of the fleet ships setting out on a new and unexpected adventure.

When the character was killed off in the film Star Trek Nemesis, many Trek fans believed that he would one day be back. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

As Star Trek fans, we often see our favourite franchise reflected in books, films, and other media that isn’t, strictly speaking, “Star Trek.” One such example is the 2003 film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, adapted from the Captain Jack Aubrey novels by Patrick O’Brian. With its 19th century nautical setting, Master and Commander contains much of the DNA of other influences that eventually found their way into Star Trek, including the majesty and adventure of a highly-trained crew on a ship pushing the boundaries of exploration on the edge of the frontier.

When the USS Voyager returned to Earth, Seven of Nine’s life looked promising: Earth, the bastion of acceptance and equality, stood ready to accept the former Borg with open arms. Right?

Reality proved to be very different from what had been promised, and soon Seven finds herself on the outside looking in. Refused a commission in Starfleet, and even denied Federation membership, she sets out to find herself, beginning a journey that would eventually lead to the Fenris Rangers and the Seven that we meet in the series Star Trek: Picard.
