28 Mar 2022Ep 7: Keeping your Period as a Runner 00:33:08

Kristy Baumann is a Registered Dietitian, marathon runner, wife, and mom to 6-month old and 3-year old.

As a new runner, she thought she was eating healthy to support her training. In reality, she was eating too 'clean' and unknowingly was restricting calories, cutting out fat and ignoring hunger signs. Food was constantly on her mind and she had a big sweet tooth. These were all signs of underfueling that resulted in recurring injuries and a poor relationship with food. It wasn't until she began to change her mindset around food, understand the science of nutrition and how the body works that she was able to learn to fuel properly, feel more energized and improve her running.

Now, she is on a mission to spread the message that restricting food and following fad diets is not the answer. Having a positive relationship with food is the foundation of fueling well as a runner. You can follow her on IG @marathon.nutritionist.

Through her private nutrition coaching and courses, Jillian has helped thousands of women – and counting – heal their gut and hormone symptoms while breaking away from dieting extremes through personalized and sustainable programs. Her unique approach to helping clients achieve whole-person health is focused on helping them foster empowering relationships with food and their bodies.

03 Dec 2023Ep 47: Pushing past the discomfort of weight gain to finally recover00:35:11

Rachel is a pediatric speech-language pathologist who lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with her husband, Alec, and their dog, Sloane. Rachel grew up with a very positive relationship around food and exercise; however, her desire to "lose a little weight for senior prom" spiraled into an eating disorder, and she was diagnosed with anorexia in her freshman year of college.

After going through treatment and weight restoration, her period never returned. She was placed on birth control and was told this would "jump start" her cycle and protect her bones. A few years later, she developed an exercise addiction as she won half marathons and became an Orangetheory fanatic, all while restricting food and living with many food rules. These behaviors continued for nearly 10 years. Deep down, Rachel knew there was still a problem, but her doctors never seemed concerned and assured her she would be able to get pregnant when she was ready. Rachel began reading and researching all things HA last year. She got married in January of 2023, and a few months after she said "I do" to her husband, she said "I do" to go "all-in" for period recovery. She attempted recovery on her own for 2 months but ultimately needed more support and direction. She joined Lindsey's program, and with the guidance, encouragement, and support she received, her period returned in just 8 weeks.

In this Episode:

  • Recovering from an ED but still no period

  • The temptation to “put off recovery” until after your wedding

  • Digging deep into why you want your relationship with food to change

  • Tips to keep going when you feel uncomfortable in your body

  • Going years without a period and recovering in just 8 weeks

  • Recovery wisdom for when you’re feeling stuck

28 Aug 2022Ep 20: Can I Ovulate without a Period? 00:10:03

Understanding our cycles is confusing! If you're like me, you maybe haven't thought much about periods, ovulation, or how the menstrual cycles works. It wasn't really until I started trying to recover my period and get pregnant that this even became much of an interest to me so if you're feeling lost today- you're not alone!

In this Solo Short episode, I am going to walk through a high level overview of the menstrual cycle, explain what's going on as your body gears up to ovulate, what's going on when you aren't getting ovulating and getting your period, and also answer one of the most commonly asked question I get each week: Can I ovulate without getting my period?

31 Jul 2022Ep 18: From IVF to Natural Pregnancy 00:37:42

Whitney lives in Greenville, SC and mother to one and one on the way! Right before starting IVF for a second time she found Lindsey while scrolling Instagram one day. Whitney struggled with an eating disorder and over-exercising in her early 20's, but with the help of her family and professional support, she was able to recover for the most part. However, she never recovered her period. Because of this, she ventured into IVF in hopes of getting pregnant in 2020.  For Whitney, her fertility journey was a long road physically and emotionally- not to mention financially draining and time consuming. She was blessed to get pregnant and have her first son via IVF, but when she decided it was time to try for baby number two, her heart longed to get pregnant naturally.

She joined the Food Freedom Fertility Society, and was able to regain her period within a month of working with Lindsey. After getting her period back, Whitney was amazed that she was able to conceive her second child naturally- without any fertility treatments! She is now 30 weeks along and due with another boy in October. Through HA recovery, Whitney expresses she now feels a freedom around food, body image, and exercise that she has never felt before- which is an added bonus to her natural pregnancy!
