Blue Giant Synopsis: 

Dai Miyamoto's life is turned upside down the day he discovers jazz. A former high school basketball player, Dai picks up a saxophone and begins practicing day and night, determined to become one of the greatest of all time. He leaves his hometown Sendai for the bustling nightclubs of Tokyo, but soon finds the life of a professional musician is not for the faint of heart. His passion eventually wins over the cocky but talented pianist Yukinori, and after Dai convinces his friend Shunji to learn the drums, they launch a new jazz trio whose rough sound contains a raw energy that quickly wins attention from local audiences. North Korea Involved in Anime Production

Context:

The producers of *Dahlia in Bloom*, an upcoming isekai romance anime, released a statement addressing a report that North Korean animation studio SEK Studio/April 26 Animation Studio worked on the series.

What Happened:

- Initially, Typhoon Graphics (*Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion*) was commissioned to produce the anime.

- Typhoon Graphics outsourced parts to Chinese production companies.

- One Chinese company allegedly outsourced work to a North Korean studio.

- Following the allegations, the producers requested a list of all animation studios involved.

- One Chinese studio refused to comply with the audit.

- The production committee concluded there might be North Korean involvement and decided to re-produce all relevant parts with domestic staff before broadcasting.

Industry Insight:

The anime industry heavily relies on outsourcing and freelance work, with only 47.3% of [animators in Japan being permanent/in-house employees](https://www.cbr.com/anime-kingdom-director-why-no-stable-job-reveal/), according to a JAniCA survey.

This week on Our Anime Show we are bringing you our first thoughts on the Kaiju No. 8 pilot episode out on Crunchyroll NOW!

We discussed the character design, voice acting, music and much more going in depth to analyze the first episode and our predictions for what is to come.

Kaiju No. 8 Synopsis:

"In a world plagued by threatening creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in the Japan Defense Force to defeat them. 'Let's wipe out the Kajju together.' Kafka pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. Over time, life circumstances forced them to go their separate ways and caused him to abandon his lifelong ambition. He found himself employed by Monster Sweeper, Inc., a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning up the aftermath of Kaiju battles."

"Meanwhile, Mina Ashiro is now the Captain of the Defense Force's 3rd Division. As it stands, he is currently unworthy of fighting Kaiju alongside her. At work, Kafka crosses paths with the highly motivated Reno Ichikawa. Reno's undying determination to join the Defense Force leaves no room for failure. His perseverance reawakens Kafka's ambition of standing next to Mina as they protect humanity from Kaiju together. A dream frozen by time, thawed by a burning promise."

On this week's episode the OAS team goes all in and tries to recreate your favorite dishes from Anime. Notably the team worked on an appetizer/snack dish, and a full meal. Mitarashi Dango

Description:

• Rice flour dumplings that are skewered onto sticks in groups of 3–5 and covered with a sweet soy sauce glaze.

Preparation:

• Form glutinous rice flour and water into balls, then drop them into boiling water until they float. Dress/cover with desired toppings.

Anime Reference:

• Toriko: In this anime, Toriko, a Gourmet Hunter, searches for rare and diverse foods to complete a full-course meal. The Mitarashi Dango Planet (みたらし団子星 Mitarashi Dango Boshi) is a collection of edible skewered planets resembling mitarashi dango, seen as they leave Earth.
• Demon Slayer: ⁠Mitarashi Dango in Demon Slayer⁠.

History:

• Originally, dumplings were used as offerings for gods in shrines.
• During the 13th - 14th century, the Japanese emperor visualized dango while purifying himself and used this image to create offerings for the gods.

• Hanami: During the sakura (cherry blossom) season, people enjoy picnics under the trees, often serving dango.

Description:

• A Japanese pastry filled with sweet red bean paste.

History:

• First created by Yasubei Kimura, a former samurai turned baker, who founded Bun'eido bakery in 1871.
• Considered one of the “seven tools for the opening of civilization” in Japan, alongside newspapers, postal service, and gas lamps.

Japanese Style Curry

Description:

• Curry served over rice, udon noodles, or as curry bread.

Ingredients:
