When Felix was in Hong Kong for Dubai Watch Week’s HF.10 he caught up with one OT:’s OG guests, Carson Chan. Before that, Andy and Felix reflect on the Patek Philippe Cubitus — what it’s like on the wrist and if it deserves the hype.

This week’s episode is Sponsored by Kennedy, official Grand Seiko retailer, and Felix and Andy chat about the incredible technology that is Spring Drive. Find out more and book an appointment at kennedy.com.au

05 Jan 2023Victoria Gomelsky on what to expect in 2023 from watches01:04:58

Happy New Year, everyone! We’re kicking off 2023 in fine form with none other than veteran watch and jewellery writer Victoria Gomelsky. It seems like every other week, one of us is referencing one of Victoria’s excellent articles for The New York Times, Robb Report or one of the other excellent titles Victoria writes for. So we pretty much had to get her on, and we are so glad we did. From what trade publications can teach you about the business of watches and how watches and jewellery intersect. Throughout all of it, we get Victoria’s take on macro trends, through to what’s hot (or not) in watches, from sustainability and lab-grown stones, and what a slowing global economy might mean for the business of watches.

New year, new strap! Get an Artem here.

22 Jun 2023Rick Cosgrove from Sō Labs on unconventional design and keeping it funky00:54:17

This week we take a quick trip to funky town, with Sō Labs co-founder Rick Cosgrove as our tour guide. Rick talks us through his influences and the challenges he’s come across so far, but mostly we talk about the watches. Sō Labs is a young Chicago-based brand with an unconventional design proposition. Layers. Layers and colours. The traditional layout of hands and numbers isn’t a part of Sō Labs design language; instead, the brand uses a series of colourful shapes to create a layered effect that is surprisingly intuitive but also not like anything else you’d see on the market. Novel looks will only get you so far, so it's fortunate that the brand has the build quality to back it up.

This episode is sponsored by Artem Straps; check out the brand new Loop-Less Sailcloth strap in khaki green.

26 Aug 2021Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO, on bold design and bright materials, plus the most colourful watches of 202100:41:34

This week’s episode is a bit of a two-parter. The main attraction is, of course, Felix’s chat with Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. Recorded during Watches & Wonders earlier this year, Mr Guadalupe discusses the difficulties of working with sapphire, and Hublot came to excel in technical case materials.

They also talk about the important role art plays to the brand and why collaborations with creatives like Maxime Pleschia-Büchi (who you may remember from the other week) and Takashi Murakami push watch design forward. But before we get to all that goodness, andy and Felix keep it colourful by wrapping some of the year’s brightest releases, and Andy also gives us a look behind the scenes on his latest article for A Collected Man.

25 Aug 2022Jacek Kozubek (Tropical Watch) on vintage watches, life lessons and the cheesiest Rolex out there01:03:10

Our conversation with veteran vintage watch dealer Jacek Kozubek starts off strong as we dive into the finer point of the perfect Hawaiian shirt. From that point on, we get a little more on-topic and find out what it takes to become a vintage watch dealer and, more importantly, what it takes to sustain it for 14 years. From market highs and occasional lows, it’s clear Jacek is in it for the long haul, talking to us about the realities of dealing and imparting some hard-earned watch-collecting wisdom. Plus, he tells us about some of the weirdest areas of Rolex collecting, like fast-food Airkings and the Ttridor watches — for when three tones are better than two.

This episode is sponsored by TAG Heuer. Listen in to find out Andy’s thoughts on the TAG Heuer Connected x Porsche Edition, and find out how it pairs with the Porsche Taycan.

07 Sep 2023EPISODE 200: Blancpain x Swatch, Geneva Watch Days, Big Pilots and more00:36:07

We’ve finally made it, the big two zero zero. To celebrate, Andy and Felix ate some face cake off mic and then got down to the serious business of watch news. Felix chats about his recent jaunt to Sydney to check out IWC’s Big Pilot Roadshow, then Andy puts on his bowling shirt, heats up the gabagool and talks about watch spotting in Sopranos. Then, some speculation about the (now not rumoured) Blancpain x Swatch Fifty Fathoms (sadly not called the Swifty Swathoms), and they discuss the latest from Geneva Watch Days and also the totally objective GPHG nominations. Finally, Felix chats about the watch on his wrist, the perfectly petite Nomos Club Sport.

13 Aug 2020DOUBLE TROUBLE: Two Watch Matchmakers feat. 3 Pepsi Alternatives and a Celebration Watch.00:39:28

Double trouble, toil and lots of bubble. This week - instead of chatting to the great and the good of the watch world - Andy and Felix are catching up on their emails, and have two solid watch matchmakers to get off the books.

But before that, they catch up on what they've seen - Andy gets a vintage Tudor Submariner back from service and sees some hot new IWC, like the new Porty 40! Felix goes hands-on with the new Longines Heritage Classic Tuxedo and Heritage Spirit, as well as some new Panerai - he's all about the Carbotech.

The first of our two matchmakers is Charith, who's recently had a son and is looking to celebrate with a new watch. Andy shows his usual flexibility of budget while Felix gets all sentimental.

Next up is Hugh, who wants a Pepsi, but can't have one. In this battle of hearts and wrists, Felix and Andy both break the ‘no-hype pieces’ rule, but also come up with some stellar alternatives.

Watch Matchmaker for Charith:

Andy's picks:

  1. Habring2 Chrono-Felix
  2. Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar
  3. Zenith Elite Moonphase

Felix's Picks:

  1. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classic Large Small Seconds
  2. Cartier Tank Américaine Large
  3. IWC for Prada GST Chronograph

Watch Matchmaker for Hugh:

Andy's picks:

  1. Vintage-ish Rolex GMT-Master II
  2. IWC Portugieser 40
  3. Grand Seiko SBGH279

Felix's Picks:

  1. Rolex Explorer
  2. Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe
  3. Omega De Ville Hour Vision

09 Nov 2020Bret Curry on taking the perfect wristshot for Hodinkee Mag and photographing Megan Fox!01:08:00

Today’s guest is cinematographer and photographer, Bret Curry. Bret knows his way around a watch, both on the wrist and behind the lens. Curry has worked with names like Eli Roth and Ryan White, on projects for National Geographic, AMC and Apple TV. We talk to Bret about his early wristwatch loves, and how, as someone who needs to keep an eye on the time and often has his hands full at work, a good watch is more than just a fashion accessory.

We also asked Bret to break down the details of an incredible shoot he did for Blancpain at Death Valley. Beyond watches, we get some insights into shooting portraits of famous people, and honing your skills and aesthetic in an Instagram age. Andy also talks a surprising amount of smack about Armie Hammer, and Felix unwittingly institutes ‘Mailbag Mondays’.

17 Aug 2023Zenith CEO Julien Tornare on the power of momentum and pilots00:26:58

Today’s episode comes straight from our secure audio archive — a short and razor-sharp chat with Zenith CEO Julien Tornare, recorded in the last days of Watches & Wonders. Felix chats with Julien about how he solved the problem of the brand being more famous for its movements than the name on the dial, how the brand went hyperactive during the pandemic, and what that momentum means for the future. We also chat about the art of choosing an ambassador and how the new Pilots watches redefine the brand’s relationship with the sky, opting for a more emotional connection rather than a technical one.

19 Dec 2024Robin Tallendier, Atelier Wen co-founder on the future of Chinese watchmaking00:43:37

In the second instalment of the Hong Kong Horology Forum files, Felix chats with Atelier Wen co-founder Robin Tallendier about the rich history of Chinese watchmaking and what the future of the industry in China looks like. From the sheer number of watchmaking students attending Chinese schools and the depth of artisanal crafts in the country, Tallendier hopes that within a generation, Chinese watchmaking will be far more respected and recognised. On top of that, Andy and Felix chatted about some of their favourite releases this year and dived into the details of Grand Seiko's design.

22 Sep 2022Carson Chan on the future of the watch industry and GPHG01:10:22

In the middle of our chat with Carson Chan, Chief Advisor to the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, he makes a bold claim — that no other type of object has changed from the category of ‘need’ to the category of ‘want’ as profoundly as the wristwatch. Since recording the call, Andy and Felix have been wracking their brains for a better answer – but still haven’t come up with one. This insight is one of Carson’s many pearls of wisdom. We also speak about his role at the FHH, the state of collecting, the future of the industry and how to improve the GPHG. On top of that, Carson effortlessly schools Felix and Andy with one of his fiendish Instagram quizzes. Suffice it to say a good time was had by all.

07 Mar 2024Louis Erard’s CEO Manuel Emch on the power of collabs00:44:02

For the last instalment in the Dubai Files, Felix sits down with Manuel Emch, the creative mind behind the resurgence of Louis Erard, which has evolved over the last few years from a middle-of-the-road value proposition into a powerhouse of collaboration. Enlisting help from people like Alain Silberstein and Konstantin Chaykin has seen Louis Erard become one of the most interesting names in watchmaking at the moment. All thanks to the Emch, a man with a reputation for putting out fires. Felix finds out about Emch, his approach to watches and what might happen to Louis Erard when collabs go out of favour. Before that, Andy and Felix chat about their trip to Sydney for an evening with Kennedy, and the joys of soapbox racers.

Fashion is fleeting, but style is eternal. That’s something Jamie Kerr Ferguson understands well. Better known as JKF Man on the ‘Gram, Jamie has had a long and varied career working in the men’s style world, you might have spotted his photography on, A Continuous Lean, Permanent Style or The Rake.

We talk to Jamie about how he broke into the competitive world of style photography, his advice to newcomers in an increasingly democratic and digital medium, as well as what sort of planning and prep goes into shooting HRH The Prince of Wales. We got some of his top fit tips too. And of course, we talk watches; how his love affair with a Dirty Dozen Omega led to a larger love affair with vintage watches, and why the classic Rootbeer keeps him up at night.

30 Jul 2020Hands on with 3 Cartier Santos-Dumont’s and 6 great watches for $600000:36:07

This week Felix and Andy have some show and tell on hand, in the form of the stylish (and very wearable) Cartier Santos-Dumont, which were released this year in mechanical options. They also dive into a colourful Gucci collab, and a very fun, and open watch matchmaker from Marcus. Marcus has $6000 Aussie to spend on a not-overly-massive daily knock-around wearer, and he’s not too fussed when it comes to style. Weirdly enough, Felix and Andy come up with six options that are very similar.

Two of them are literally the same watch, and three of the others are blue-dialled divers. But don’t worry, with his last pick Felix went wild (and pretty off brief), so look out for that one.

18 Aug 2022Christian-Louis Col from Ikepod on Kanye West and reviving an icon01:02:24

One of the late 20th century’s most distinctive watch designs comes from the design-led brand Ikepod, founded by Marc Newson. 02 Dec 2021December’s hottest news and even hotter takes00:50:46

A few months ago we ran an episode of hot takes, where we dialled up the spice with some controversial content from Discord and out very own heads. Well, we’re back at with round two. From bezels to watches as cosplay and even Felix throwing shade at the mighty MAD watch, we hold nothing back. Even before the user-generated content gets hot, we’ve got plenty to talk about, from more Aussie boutiques, a unique Big Pilot for Kennedy, a cheery Minions watch plus Nicholas Cage and his pig.

This episode is brought to you by NOMOS Glashütte. Today Felix and Andy indulge in some hypothetical watch shopping, and chat about the new Orion in gold and silver. Find out more here.

02 Feb 2023Brand new Audemars Piguet, Omega gets technical and bioceramic Bond00:36:38

We’re officially one-twelfth of the way through the year, and the watch releases are coming thick and fast — just like Andy’s love of the new 37mm Royal Oak in yellow gold with a turquoise dial. Honestly, he hasn’t been so excited about a watch since Rolex released a watch with a turquoise dial. Maybe it’s just turquoise. 04 May 2023IWC Museum Curator David Seyfer on the history of the Ingenieur00:35:29

IWC’s 2023 release slate has a singular focus — the Ingenieur. This cult classic integrated sports watch has made its triumphant return to the catalogue, and it was one of the major talking points of Watches & Wonders. Two people talking about it were Felix and IWC Museum Curator David Seyfer, and it’s this chat we’ve got for you today. Seyfer delves into the history of this significant design, how he accidentally had the original sketches hidden in the basement, and why he thinks Gerald Genta would approve of this update.

This episode is sponsored by IWC; find out more about the new Ingenieur here.

26 Nov 2020Mark Cho (The Armoury/Drake's) on style, F.P. Journe, anOrdain, and the perfect watch size.01:28:01

In the hallowed (and impeccably dressed) halls of men's style, Mark Cho is a legend. Co-founder of influential retailer The Armoury and co-owner of menswear institution Drake's. Cho has undoubtedly made his mark on modern men's style. And given Cho's general sartorial good sense it should come as no surprise that he views a good watch is an essential wardrobe item, with pieces as diverse as F.P. Journe and anOrdain.

He's also a man concerned with what size a watch should be — so much so that he put together a survey to determine the ideal wrist size. The results are surprising … but perhaps they shouldn't be.

02 Apr 2020Introducing OT: The Podcast with dive watches and self-isolation00:30:36

In this first episode of OT: The Podcast, meet hosts Andy Green and Felix Scholz, find out what the pod is about (watches basically), and why it took them so long to get it off the ground. The major topic is -- of course -- how COVID-19 has impacted the watch business. But we also find time to chat about bikies and the Baha Men, as well as help Alrick find a daily diver.

23 Jun 2022David Concannon on exploration, the law and finding Apollo 11’s engines01:06:56

We joke about National Treasure a lot on OT: But this week, we get as close as we’re ever likely to get to the real deal with explorer, lawyer and exploration consultant David Concannon. His CV covers off multiple dives to the Titanic, the discovery of the world’s deepest wooden shipwreck and helping Jeff Bezos find Apollo 11’s engines, and that’s just the top line. Concannon also explains how exploration and the law are firmly entwined, and gives us a crash course on the economics of exploring. Of course, we also talk about watches, and his surprising friendship with one of Hollywood’s greatest stuntmen.

The episode is sponsored by NOMOS Glashütte, tune in to hear Andy waxing lyrical about the beauty of the Club Campus Deep Pink. Check it out for yourself here.

13 Apr 2023Nicholas Biebuyck is back, and so are the hot takes00:39:03

This week we’ve got part two of our chat with TAG Heuer’s Nicholas Biebuyck, where he tells us what he really thinks about the latest Carrera releases and speculates about what sort of watches he’d like to see in the future. Beyond that, we have some thoughts and feelings about recent watch releases, including Lange’s unobtanium chronograph, the revival of Gerald Genta, Tudor’s talking factory and whether or not Ben Clymer talking time with Kermit is hypocrisy or the greatest interview they’ve ever run.

This week’s episode is brought to you by TAG Heuer, who are celebrating 60 years of the iconic Carrara. Find out more about this legendary chronograph here.

26 May 2022Christian Knoop, IWC’s Creative Director on design, colour and pilot’s watches00:31:06

Since he became Creative Director back in 2008, Christian Knoop has been responsible for the subtle and sophisticated task of shepherding IWC’s design direction into a new era. Designers, as Knoop says, see the world differently, viewing the world through a discerning lens of function and form. We spoke to Knoop in the midst of Watches & Wonders about the challenges of updating iconic designs, the need to stay relevant while resisting trends and his favourite releases so far.

Today we chat to Sarah Hirini, the two-time Olympic gold medal-winning captain of New Zealand’s women’s national rugby team, the Black Ferns. And as if that wasn’t enough, she’s also a Tudor ambassador, which puts her alongside Lady Gaga as one of the brand’s few female ambassadors. We talk to Sarah about what it’s like to represent NZ in the Olympics, how she channels Tudor’s born to dare attitude, and why women’s rugby and professional women’s sports generally are finally getting the attention they deserve. We also find out how she’s liking the Black Bay 925 on the wrist. Andy and Felix also talk about rich kids, spies and metal G-Shocks.

08 Feb 2024February News — LVMH Watch Week, Piaget Hype and Taylor Swift00:32:00

LVMH Watch Week, which was recently held in Miami, marks the start fo the flood of new releases for the year, and for our first news episode, we fly through some of the highlights from TAG Heuer, Hublot, Bulgari and Zenith. Of course, LVMH doesn’t have a monopoly on the news, and Piaget’s hype-y new Polo 79 is bringing u80s realness back to the wrist. But all these new releases pale compared to the biggest news story of the last few months, about a woman so cool she doesn’t even need to wear watches on her wrists. Yes, the one and only Taylor Swift ruffled feathers by wearing a custom choker with a Concord watch front and centre. We have thoughts. Beyond that, the big news in OT: land is that we’re getting into video, so if you’ve ever wanted to see the faces we make while recording your favourite watch pod, you’re in luck.

15 Apr 2021Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet new releases, plus Tim Mosso and Black Panther00:53:43

The watches and wonders are flowing thick and fast, and in this episode, Felix and Andy deep their toes into the latest watches from Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. But before a surprisingly hot-take-filled recap, Felix has a little interlude with Tim Mosso from WatchBox. Tim and Felix talk superheroes (I mean, has anyone seen Tim and Batman in the same room?) when Tim and Felix pick watches for Marvel and DC's finest.

Ever wondered what Wonder Woman would wear? Regular programming continues with new watch chat and Andy revealing why he wouldn't cop a steel Nautilus at retail. Further surprises ensue when Felix goes into bat for the Code 11:59. And they both agree that while Audemars Piguet missed some major opportunities to make their debut Marvel watch (feat. Black Panther) great, watch nerds need to settle a little and remember that it's not all about them.

This episode is brought to you by WatchBox, the world's leading platform for buying, selling and trading pre-owned luxury timepieces. Have you ever wondered what sort of watch Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Iron Man and Wonder Woman would wear? Well, wonder no more as Felix and Tim Mosso pick some super watches for these classic comic heroes. Head to thewatchbox.com to look for your next watch.

03 Dec 2020Tim Mosso (Watchbox) on how he became YouTube’s king of watch reviews.01:33:23

By his own reckoning, Tim Mosso has reviewed some 6 or 7000 watches, many of them on Watchbox’s YouTube channel. The combination of experience, deep product knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of how watches are made, bought and sold makes Tim Mosso someone to listen to, especially if you’re looking to buy a watch. We find out just how Tim goes about reviewing a watch, even if it’s not one he personally likes (spoiler, it’s either like a sailor or a lawyer). We also get Tim’s take on what he thinks makes a bad (or a good) watch, the most overlooked element of watch design (lugs!), what’s trending, and which brands are milking those trends too much. We also talk about why watches leaning heavily into nostalgia need to pay attention to car design, and if the hype is ever justified. This interview is a little longer than usual, but it’s all thriller no filler.

But more than that, it’s an auction of one-of-a-kind pieces, and things get a little wild. This year there are 54 pieces submitted, including a HAND-some F.P. Journe (made in collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola of all people), a super aged-Tudor GMT and heaps of orange. 03 Jun 2021Max Busser (MB&F) on working with friends evolving watch design and keeping the magic alive01:10:48

In the world of high-end independent watchmaking, Max Büsser is a king. Well, maybe not a king; he’s more of an alchemist, somehow turning his dreams into incredible creations of steel, gold and sapphire. While this romantic vision is pretty accurate, it’s only part of the picture.

Max tells us about the anger and frustration that caused MB&F to be born, the importance of friends, the madness of developing 22 calibres in 20 years and why Max is determined to run his business differently. We also talk about the entirely selfish way Max designs watches and how that’s reflected in the evolving style of the brand, which has shifted from blocky to biomorphic.

Finally, we find out about the delicate art of product naming and get a sneak peek at the MB&F ‘Andy’.

This episode is brought to you by NOMOS Glashütte. Listen in as Felix and Andy talk through the 2021 releases in this episode, or discover them all here.

22 Apr 2020Into the woods with 6 ‘true’ GMTs under 4,000GBP!00:28:41

Brad lives on a horse farm in the woods of rural England. Honestly, this is all he needed to say to get Andy and Felix onboard. The fact that he also wants a 'true' GMT for 4000 GBP or less is the cherry on the cake. Turns out great options, including Grand Seiko, Bremont and Omega abound. Plus the perfect cup of coffee.

12 May 2022Ross Povey (Tudor Collector) on Tudor, Rolex and the rise of gem-set watches01:10:44

You can’t venture too deep into the waters of vintage Tudor without coming across Ross Povey. His love for the brand that was once seen as Rolex’s ‘little brother’ stemmed from seeing quirky, colourful dials of vintage Tudor chronographs and from there, things escalated quickly. Povey talks to us about the rapid renaissance of the once-forgotten brand, and what they got right at Watches & Wonders 2022. And because Povey refuses to be easily categorised, he also has a deep and abiding love of gem-set Rolex. So we find out how the infamous (and Nick Cage endorsed) leopard print Daytona has evolved from an object of ridicule to cult cool.

26 Dec 2024Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato on the brand’s evolving identity01:07:51

Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato has been in the role for a little over a year at this point, and it’s safe to say that 2024 has been a rollercoaster. The brand, rooted in British identity and aviation, unveiled a brand new collection, logo and strategy at its Watches & Wonders debut and has, in the months since, been experiencing the ups and downs of public opinion. We caught up with Davide a few weeks before Christmas and found the irrepressible anglophile reflective about the year that was for Bremont, but more than that, excited about what the future holds.

This episode has been sponsored by Bremont. Check them out at bremont.com or, if you’re in Melbourne, at the Bremont Boutique at 292 Collins St.

16 Jan 2025Fiona Krüger on watch design and being inspired by pearls00:32:39

Today’s guest is Fiona Krüger, a fine artist and watch designer who’s independent in the truest sense of the word. Perhaps best known for her timepieces shaped like skulls and defined by fractures and imperfection, Krüger is a watchmaker who finds her own path. Felix caught up with Krüger in Hong Kong as part of Horology Forum 10, where they chatted about design integrity, the tricky nature of luxury and why it isn’t always the best idea to have a business plan when starting out. They also chat about the Face of Tasaki, a watch Fiona Krüger has made with a Japanese pearl manufacturer and one of the coolest releases of the last year. Before that, Andy and Felix gaze into Ariel Adams’ crystal ball and speculate about what 2025 will look like for the watch industry.

25 Jun 2020Dr Richard Harris. Cave Diver. Hero. Australian of the Year.00:54:31

Two years ago Dr Richard Harris dived into a cave in Thailand and came back a hero. That cave - of course - was part of the Tham Luang cave system, and 4 kilometres deep in it were trapped a football team of 12 young men and one of their coaches. The caves had flooded, and incoming monsoonal rain meant they had to get out of the submerged cave system quickly. As this crisis emerged the list of people with the relevant skills to put in place a rescue became very short, and at the top of it was Richard Harris. An experienced cave diver and anesthetist he had a unique skillset, well suited the incredibly complex rescue situation. We talk to Richard about just how unlikely a success the Tham Luang rescue was, and how it changed his life. We also talk about his other cave diving exploits, the importance of gear to a diver and his Bremont S2000.

17 Mar 2022Lydia Winters and Vu Bui on Youtube, photography and why the Pelagos FXD might be the perfect watch01:23:50

Double trouble this week with the horological/photographic power couple that is Lydia Winters and Vu Bui. With a shared love of watches, photography and videography, it was only a matter of time before these passions combined into a YouTube channel, called (appropriately enough) Winters & Bui. We talk about their plans for the channel, the importance of authenticity and why quality content will always shine through.

Naturally, we get some practical photography tips and find out about Lydia’s love of Hasselblad. And while the shared couples watch might be the dream for many people, it isn’t something that works for Vu and Lydia, so we get their take on inter-relationship watch trading and what it’s like to actually wear (and scratch) a hype watch.

But before all that, Felix and Andy talk about how Wordle can save the internet and why we need to stop comparing new releases (hello Omega!) to Rolex.

29 Sep 2022Beauden Barrett — All Black Legend and Tudor Ambassador00:37:03

In this episode, we managed to do what rugby teams worldwide have been failing to do for years — pin down Beauden Barrett. We caught the All Black and Tudor ambassador between matches and chatted about the life and pressures of being one of the best rugby players in the world in one of the most legendary teams of all time. Naturally, we also talked about Tudor, its legacy, and how to travel with a watch.

Before that, Andy and Felix contemplate the death of Watchville and look back at the important role it played in the ever-evolving watch internet, as well as ponder what might come next.

02 Sep 2021Chatting with mountaineering legend Reinhold Messner for Montblanc, plus Beyonce, Jay-Z and Diddy’s take on Richard Mille00:44:06

If you know anything about climbing mountains, you know Reinhold Messner. The first man to climb Everest solo, Messner popularised the alpine style of climbing. Recently he’s collaborated with Montblanc to celebrate his solo crossing of the Gobi Desert. Felix talks to him about adventure, the environment and the importance of failure.

Beyond that, we find out why Beyonce, Jay-Z and Diddy have been in the luxury headlines and why Kurono Tokyo got caught up in Instagram drama. Felix spends some time with Piaget; Andy gets excited about a rice cooker and catches up on a grunty Henry Cavill in The Witcher.

16 Apr 2020Bonus episode – Is it all over for Baselworld now that Rolex and Patek have left?00:54:03

01 Dec 2022Mark Cho (The Armoury) on selling his watch collection00:46:07

So much of the discussion in the watch space is around the acquisition of new watches. Yet the other untold side of the story is that for every watch bought, another is sold. Mark Cho (The Armoury) is balancing the scales. He’s selling off the bulk of his collection to fund the expansion of his business, The Armoury, and he’s doing it through Phillips.

Rather than anonymously consign his watches, Mark has made a custom site – called The Beauty in Everything –  showcasing the watches and some of the stories behind them. Even if you’re not in the market for a new watch, it’s well worth having a look at Mark’s significant and very tasteful collection.

None of Mark Cho’s watches came on Artem straps. Don’t make the same mistake. Buy one here.

13 Feb 2025Kenneth Lam, founder of Arken Watch Company00:53:36

Arken Watch Company was born (like so many creative projects), in the middle of a lockdown. Kenneth Lam, always interested in modding Seiko’s and the like, decided to design his own watch. The result was the Arken Instrumentum, a limited release followed a few years later by the clever travel timer that is the Alterum. Arken aims to create genre-free titanium tool watches with unique and practical functions — and it’s safe to say the young brand is delivering on that mission. We talked to Ken about the future of the brand, how to engage with the community and preferred emoji use.

23 Dec 2021Cara Barrett (Parchie) on launching a kid’s watch brand and why AP is getting size right00:56:58

Cara Barrett’s back, and now she’s at the helm of one of the coolest kid’s watch brands on the block, Parchie. We talk to Cara about what she’s been up to since she left Hodinkee, which largely involves getting to grips with the global supply chain, wrangling designers and manufacturers to create a series of cute, colourful timepieces made with small people in mind.

Learn about the nuance of velcro straps and how life in the watch media prepared Cara for building a brand. We also talk about her growing Audemars Piguet problem, and what difference a few millimetres can make. Felix also talks about his love for well-muscled men, and Andy accidentally jumps onto the sneaker hype train.

07 Sep 2020Miles Fisher - Acting, Watches, Coffee, Podcasts and Tom Cruise!01:11:16

Actor/Singer/Model/Entrepreneur/Podcast host Miles Fisher can do it all. Certainly, Andy and Miles talk about it all, from how his watch collection (which started with a Cartier Tank and a Rolex Explorer), suddenly exploded when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and Miles found that watches helped him quiet his mind. And of course, we couldn’t get Miles on and not talk about his epic take on Tom Cruise running for President. We also cover off his podcast Coffee with the Greats, which sees him sit down with some legendary guests. And because Miles also has his own roasting business, they talk about actual coffee. 01 Jun 2023Montblanc’s watch boss Laurent Lecamp, plus Spider-man and Succession00:39:52

This week Felix chats with the Managing Director of Montblanc’s Watch Division, Laurent Lecamp. For an interview about watchmaking, we spend a surprising amount of time discussing nature, specifically ice, glacial and otherwise. But don’t worry, it all ties into watches — as is immediately apparent with the 1858 Iced Sea collection in blue, black and green. Beyond the impressive dials, the most remarkable aspect of this watch design is the dolphin-inspired bezel. Before we get Laurent on the line, though, Andy and Felix talk about the watches of Succession season four and whether or not Spider-Man on a watch (Audemars Piguet, natch) works.

23 Sep 2021Jonathan Ferrer (Brew Watches) on building a brand identity and the micro scene in 202100:53:18

Andy first met Jonathan Ferrer from Brew Watches back in 2015, at the first Worn & Wound Wind Up Watch fair. And while Brew’s heart can still be found in a good cup of coffee, the brand has evolved and matured with the times. We talk to Jonathan about balancing growth while staying true to the brand vision. Jonathan also talks about the founding impetus for Brew, built off his work as a freelance watch designer and the importance of coming out of the gate strong, with a powerful silhouette that triggers nostalgia.

We also get into the nuts and bolts of a small watch business, the importance of social media, how to balance stock and customer expectations, as well as why Brew went all out with the bracelet of the Metric, which is unusually complicated for a $400 watch.

20 May 2020Masterchef winner Diana Chan on Rolex Datejusts, delicious dumplings and dive watches00:46:40

A lot is happening in today’s episode of OT: and all of it is great. First up, we have Diana Chan, winner of Masterchef 2017 in the studio, talking about food, watches, what Patek she’s got her eyes on. But we also get her to help out with a particularly tricky watch matchmaker, courtesy of Brian. You see Brian wants a smaller, white dialled watch that can do it all. And by golly Felix and Andy deliver on that brief.

21 Dec 2020J. David Weiss (superyacht designer) – on his wildest requests, why mega-yachts cost so much and his love of watches01:21:12

Today’s guest, J. David Weiss, describes his job as ‘designing silly boats for silly people’ which, if we’re completely honest is a little bit of an understatement. The truth is that Weiss is one of the world’s leading designers of superyachts. So, to make the most of the opportunity, Felix and Andy decided to commission their own modest superyacht, the OT: Cruiser.

And while they spent the modest $30M budget, they learned some valuable tips on the finer points of yacht design. Ideal sizes, why Italy is your best choice for a shipyard, what makes helipads so tricky and some of there out there options they could go for (motorbike Pez dispenser anyone?).

Of course, Weiss has a nice watch or two, but as far as great origin stories go, it’s hard to top the Rolex he pulled out of a rubbish bin. And then there’s the bit where Felix and Andy pretend to be Australian film reviewers.

This episode is made possible by our sponsor, eBay. Head to eBay.com/luxurywatches to check out their great range of watches and go to eBay.com/buyauthentic to learn about the service.

01 Apr 2021March news wrap – New Omega, the history of G-Shock, Patek archive drama and more...00:41:40

Watches & Wonders is just around the corner, and that means new releases by the bucketload. So we’ve put our guest schedule on hold to give these new watches the time they deserve. The headline act is Omega, with a rock-solid lineup including a brand new alloy called Bronze Gold, Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black (no prizes for guessing the primary colour here) and a dressy De Ville.

Speaking of the F1, we chat about TAG Heuer’s new releases, along with Glashütte Original and others. 12 Jan 2023Kim Frank on exploring, elephants and wearing Rolex in the field 01:10:18

Kim Frank wears many hats. She’s a writer, editor and explorer. In fact, she’s a fellow at the Explorers Club and was recently the recipient of the Explorers Club Rolex Award. Kim tells us exactly what this is, what it entails and what it's really like to wear a Rolex while working on stories about how Asian elephants co-exist with humans in the Eastern Himalayas. We also learn about her love of other old watches, old cars and some lessons from a life well travelled. 20 Mar 2025The One Where We Predict Watches & Wonders 202500:33:17

Yes, we had to do it. Hopped up on rumour and speculation, Andy and Felix dive into the exciting world of baseless watch predictions and shamelessly speculate on what Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier and their pals are going to unveil in Geneva in just a few day's time. On top of that, we ponder the meta trends that we're going to see emerge in the industry, including "less value for the same money" and "more restraint with flashes of insanity".

17 Apr 2025Fred Savage on why he started Timepiece Grading Specialists01:08:39

For many of us, Fred Savage was an important part of our formative years, thanks to his roles in The Wonder Years and The Princess Bride. He's also an established director and producer, but for watch enthusiasts, he’s famous for another on-screen role — Hodinkee’s Talking Watches, in which he appeared in 2018. We caught up with Savage to see what he’s been up to since, and it turns out — quite a lot.

We caught up with Savage to see what he’s been up to since, and it turns out — quite a lot. He has started Timepiece Grading Specialists, a business that promises to empower collectors, sellers, and buyers to navigate the world of vintage and pre-owned watches with confidence. Fred tells us all about the service and why he believes it’s important, but before that, Andy and Felix talk about some of the more surprising Cartier releases they saw in Geneva.

19 Nov 2020Chase Fancher (Oak and Oscar) on how to start your own watch brand!01:06:19

There’s a good chance that if you’re really deep into watches you’ve fantasised about designing your own watch or even your own watch brand. Five years ago our guest Chase Fancher turned that dream into a reality when he gave up his unfulfilling corporate day job and started Oak and Oscar, a brand born out of Chase’s love of watches, bourbon and dogs.

Chase takes us through the journey of creating a brand, making the leap to full-time, the joys and challenges of building a brand and a passionate community, and what a good, sustainable smaller watch brand looks like.

We hear about the new Olmsted Matte also ask Chase the hard questions, like what it would take for him to give it all up. Listen now, before Disney’s lawsuit comes into effect.

07 Apr 2022Our take on Watches and Wonders 202200:46:07

The proverbial dust has settled on Watches and Wonders, which, by all accounts was a successful return to form for the watch fair. This week, Andy and Felix talk through the highlights (and some of the more controversial releases) from the comfort of their own homes.

Breitling’s 70th anniversary relaunch of the Navitimer in the skies of Switzerland kicked affairs off, followed by a flurry of eyebrow-raising releases from Rolex, Patek Philippe and others. Tudor and TAG Heuer did well and Cartier crushed it as per usual. Finally Felix and Andy pick their early faves from the fair, with Andy keeping it humble in platinum and Felix fell in love with the elegance of solar power.

This episode is sponsored by Breitling. Head into your local boutique to check out the new Navitimer, or head to breitling.com and buy it online.

Oh, and Felix is also (still) in love with his Artem Strap — check them out here.

04 Jun 2020Bark & Jack on winning Youtube with integrity, Rolex Explorers and the subtle art of click-bait00:40:59

Like many people in the watch media, Adrian fell into it following a passion. That passion led to Bark & Jack, one of the most popular watch channels on YouTube, with 93K subscribers who appreciate Adrian’s laid-back, low-BS approach to watches. We chatted to Adrian about what it’s *really* like to be a big-shot YouTuber, the reality of Rolex content and grind of traffic and the algorithm, and why Adrian tries not to play that game. We also talk about the perfect watch size, Adrian’s favourites from Watches & Wonders (hello Piaget, Cartier, JLC and Panerai), and the future of the watch business and the one watch that Adrian always recommends to people (hint: it’s not a Rolex).

14 Sep 2020Jack Carlson - founder of Rowing Blazers, designer, best-selling author, and former world champion bronze medalist.01:08:25

If there's such a thing as a *normal* path to founding a fashion brand, Jack Carlson didn't follow it. Before he was a designer and best-selling author, Carlson was an archaeologist who rowed at a national level. But as we discover in this dive into the fascinating and occasionally weird and tradition-bound world of rowing, there's a rich history that blurs the lines of sports, fashion, and cultural anthropology.

For Carlson, research turned into a book (celebrated by none other than Mr. Ralph Lauren himself), which turned into Rowing Blazers. We talk about what the brand is, how the distinctive identity was formed, and who it's for (hint — not just rowers), as well as the joys of a good watch and what it feels like to watch TV and see Tan France wearing your blazer. Or the surprise in finding out that multi-Grammy winning rapper Macklemore, has been one of your best customers since day one!

Make sure to listen to the end because there's an Easter egg in there for watch fans.

23 Nov 2020Charley Boorman (Long Way Up) epic motorcycle adventures across the world with Ewan McGregor01:12:57

He’s been round the world, and down the world and now he’s come back up again. We are, of course, talking about today’s guest, Charley Boorman. Since 2004 Boorman and his buddy Ewan McGregor have made a habit of travelling the globe on the back of a motorbike.

Their latest, Long Way Up, which sees them ride from the tip of South America to Los Angeles is their most ambitious yet — not because of the journey itself, but because they’re doing it on electric Harley Davidsons. We talk to Charley about the challenges of finding a charge, riding while recovering from serious surgery, and what it’s like to be one of Bremont’s longest-serving ambassadors.

This episode is brought to you by Gucci, and this episode we talk about the Gucci Grip. Find, out all about it here.

25 Nov 2021Alan Bedwell (Foundwell) on Cartier, clocks and why connoisseurship matters01:11:21

Today’s guest is Alan Bedwell, the antiques expert behind cool curio site Foundwell. We chat to Alan about what it’s like growing up in an antique-dealing family and how he ended up looking after Ralph Lauren’s antiques, including dog paraphernalia, of all things.

From there, Foundwell was formed through a stint at Bergdorf Goodman, and Alan was off to the races. We find out how the scene has changed over the years (hint, cufflinks aren’t cool right now), as well as his thoughts on why the watch market is white-hot.

We also stray into watch-adjacent territory, talking about why clocks, even those from makers like Cartier and Jaeger-LeCoultre, are under-rated. Before Alan joined the chat, Andy and Felix found the time to talk luxury toaster smartphones, retro-futuristic cars and why Nomos nails watch accessories.

This episode is brought to you by NOMOS Glashütte. Today we talk accessories and extras perfect for Christmas. From straps to postage stamps, you can always find something fun at NOMOS.

21 Dec 2023Davide Cerrato (Bremont) on his plans for the British brand00:40:34

Felix caught up with the effervescent Davide Cerrato at Dubai Watch Week, who’s starting to feel comfortable in the top job at Bremont after six months. Felix and Davide chat about what he’s been up to, but most importantly, what he’s got planned for the next evolution of Bremont. Unfortunately, it sounds like we’ll have to wait until Watches & Wonders 2024 to see just what he’s been cooking up, but if the idea of a Bremont Field Watch tickles your fancy, stay tuned. Before the Bremont shenanigans, Andy and Felix chat about Universal Geneve, and gift each other some hypothetical Zodiac stocking stuffers. It’s festive and fantastic!

29 Apr 2021Jason Heaton (The Grey NATO and Hodinkee) discusses - and reads from - his new thriller Depth Charge01:28:59

Today's episode is action-packed in more ways than one. Of course, the top billing goes to Jason Heaton, a product journalist who's penned his first novel, But before that, we have some action of a different kind, with Andy chatting to Mike Manjos from WatchBox, about the winners from Watches & Wonders. Then it's straight into the thriller that is Depth Charge. Heaton bills it as a classic paperback page-turner in the vein of Cussler or Fleming, with a healthy dose of diving, and of course, dive watches. And while Heaton doesn't reveal the watch his hero ended up wearing in the book, we do talk about the challenges of writing (and researching) a novel during a pandemic, updating thriller tropes while making them relevant for a modern audience. Of course, we also chat about the in-depth character development of a pivotal character and probably great guy, the henchman known as 'Scholz'.

Back when Jason Heaton was first on the podcast, Felix petitioned strongly to be included as an evil henchman in the novel. Fast forward to today, and Felix's wish has been granted, with Scholz being described as an angular man with a shaved head and a moustache. What hasn't been revealed yet is if Henchman Scholz wears a watch. So we thought we'd have a little fun. Over on Instagram, we're running a comp where the best suggestion for Scholz's watch will win a signed copy of Depth Charge. Don't miss out.

This episode is brought to you by WatchBox, the world's leading platform for buying, selling and trading pre-owned luxury timepieces. Andy gets a personalised post Watches & Wonders market wrap with Mike Manjos, where they chat about trends and 2021's hottest releases. Of course, if you don't want to handle the waitlist, head to thewatchbox.com to look for your next watch.

31 Aug 2020Roger Cruickshank – RAF Typhoon pilot, Olympian, Author.00:57:45

Today's guest has amassed quite the resume. Roger Cruickshank is an Olympian, RAF Pilot, Distinguished Flying Cross recipient and author. In our conversation with Roger, we quickly discovered that his journey wasn't an easy one. A talented skier from an early age, Roger had to make tough decisions about choosing to pursue his dream of being a professional skier, or becoming a pilot, eventually choosing the latter. Luckily the RAF supported his Olympic dream and Cruickshank was on course to do both. Until a debilitating accident in 2005 grounded him and shattered his sporting dreams.

But in a comeback story worthy of Hollywood, Cruickshank pushed through rehabilitation to qualify and compete in the Turin Winter Olympics, and have a long and distinguished RAF career, much of it in Eurofighter Typhoons. Of course, we quiz Cruickshank on the important business of pilot's watches, and if he ever checks his Breitling, Bremont or Casio in the cockpit. On a more serious note, Cruickshank is also a keen mental health advocate, a Headfit ambassador and co-author of the book Speed of Sound, Sound of Mind, in which Cruickshank explores the importance of mental resilience beyond the 'stiff upper lip' approach.

Today marks our 150th official episode, and we can’t think of a better guest to celebrate on this auspicious occasion than the great Stephen Pulvirent. Today Pulvirent creates beautiful art through his artistic photography practice, as well as more commercially-geared creativity through his agency Rime and Reason. But most people will recognise him from his time at Hodinkee. After Felix and Stephen reminisce on the early days of Hodinkee, Pulvirent tells us why he’s enjoying watches as a hobbyist, as well as reflect on how he played a role in shaping contemporary watch culture.

10 Mar 2022Steve Corica (Sydney FC) plus why we need to stop spotting watches, and redemption for Franck Muller00:41:18

Today we chat with veteran footballer and Head coach of Sydney FC, Steve Corica. We chat to Steve about the changing profile of football in Australia, what it's like to make the move from player to coach and how technology and science are changing the game. And given that Edifice is a fresh team sponsor, we chat about the importance of timing and the culture of footballers' watches.

In other news, Andy must have been enjoying a spice-heavy diet recently, as he's full of hot takes. First up, he makes some strong arguments as to why watch spotting is played out and needs to fade away. From then on, we ponder just what it would take for Franck Muller to return to its early noughties glory (Felix is sceptical).

In the last episode of 2023, Andy and Felix — full of festive cheer — look back on the highs and lows of 2023. From the biggest surprise of the year to the trend they wish would go away and the watch they’d actually spend their own hard-earned cash on, Felix and Andy mostly agree on the year that was, and in the end, they rated 2023 a solid 6.5ish out of 10.

07 Aug 2021EPISODE 99: Hot ones - Andy, Felix and your spiciest takes 🔥 🔥 🔥 00:38:39

🔥 Inspired by a chat on our community Discord, Andy and Felix dedicate this entire episode to the spiciest of hot takes. Andy takes the heat out of hype watches, while Felix disses one of the most popular complications out there. That’s the great thing about a good hot take, though — it doesn’t need to be particularly rational or even fully formed, just passionate (and preferably spicy).

The heat continues thanks to some California Reaper level heat from Discord members who have thoughts about premium prices, date windows and everything in between. In less watch-related yet still caliente) Andy has been reliving GTA, and Felix ranks his favourite Dwayne Johnson movies with ‘Jungle’ in the title. 21 Oct 2021Blake Buettner (Worn & Wound) on value, the micro scene and Grand Seiko’s growing pains01:06:35

Today’s guest is Blake Buettner, watch media veteran and Managing Editor of Worn & Wound. Given his day job at the leading value-driven watch site, we naturally spend a lot of time chatting about what a value watch looks like in 2021 and whether or not a watch with four or more zeros in the price tag can be ‘value’, On a related note we cover off the state of the micro-brand scene, and dive into two of the watch enthusiasts traditional darlings, Seiko and Grand Seiko, and what their rapid growth and changing focus (epitomised by the White Birch) means for the brand. We also find out how Blake is — indirectly — responsible for getting Andy into mechanical watches, what really makes for a daily wearer and the joy of clacky keyboards. All that plus Andy and Felix go hands-on with the Apple Watch Series 7.

07 Jan 2021Origin story – Andy and Felix on how they met, and what they love about watches.00:58:14

We’re doing things a little differently today. Sixty eps in and one season down, we’ve got a lot of new listeners. So we thought some formal introductions were in order. Andy and Felix turn the mics and interrogation-style spotlights on each other and delve into our own origin stories, how they met, and what we think of watches.

Felix interviews Andy, and Andy interviews Felix. And they ask the tough questions. Why does Felix hate Rolex? Does Andy have a grail? What was the first story Andy ever wrote, and how do they keep the horological passions alive? All this and more, revealed.

This episode is brought to you by Longines, you can hear Andy’s thoughts on the Longines Skin Diver in the episode. Find out more about it at https://www.longines.com/

22 Oct 2020William Massena (Massena Lab) reimagining icons, Hodinkee collabs, Rolex OPs.01:27:53

William Massena is a legendary figure in the world of watches. From Timezone to Antiquorum and his own venture Massena Labs, he’s done it all.

From what it was like loving watches growing up in Geneva, and how Timezone changed the watch industry, why collectors need to stop fawning over watch brands and what it was like trying to get into Baselworld when the internet was seen as the wild west. Massena also gives us his (typically sensible) take on watches as investments.

These days, of course, William is best known for Massena Lab, a collaborative laboratory that creates watches that are a fusion and old and new. His latest creation is the Uni-Racer, a loving homage to a classic Universal Geneve, but made in a painstakingly modern way. We break down the thorny issues of originality, intent and authenticity in the watch space, issues around hype in the watch market and how William has evolved from an anti-brand guy into a brand in his own right.

This episode is brought to you by NOMOS Glashütte, who recently launched a series of limited edition Lambda watches in steel to celebrate 175 years of watchmaking in Glashütte.

12 Oct 2023Sylvain Berneron on building Breitling and side hustlin his own brand01:09:40

Today, we chat with Sylvain Berneron, a talented watch designer who — unusually for the Swiss watch industry — has dual responsibilities. He’s in charge of design at Breitling, spending his days working on the latest evolutions of some of the most iconic sports chronographs ever made. On top of that, he’s also the founder of his own watch brand, Berneron, which has debuted the impressive, elegant Mirage, a shaped watch with a shaped movement that challenges many of the established conventions of watch design. Berneron explains the design and the very specific decisions that went into the Mirage and what his future plans for the Berneron brand are. Before that, Andy and Felix chat about Beckham, broken bones, Breguet, and falling down video rabbit holes.

27 Jan 2022James McVey (The Vamps) on getting married in a castle and finding grails01:09:38

A lot has changed for The Vamps guitarist James McVey since we chatted to him in 2020. He’s managed to get married, and we get to hear the finer details of wedding watches, cars and castles. On top of that, McVey has fallen deeper down the rabbit-hole of watches, discovering microbrands, G-shock and Bremont. As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also managed to track down his grail Rolex — and is getting ready to wear it all over the world. But before the main course, Andy and Felix talk about spicy crypto bros, Ricky Gervais and why Bobby Bourke from Queer Eye needs a watch brand deal.

Calling in from Los Angeles is today’s guest Dan Brunn, an award-winning architect whose practice is inspired by sustainability and growing up amid the Bauhaus buildings of Tel Aviv. We find out how Dan leapt headfirst into the world of bespoke architecture by scoring a prestigious Venice beach build fresh out of architecture school. We also find out about the 'Flip Flop' house, and what it’s like to live in something you created.

We also chat to Dan about good design in general and how that translates to watches … in particular, an intriguing Omega project. But before that, Felix and Andy also manage to cover off a new whisky from Lark, new tunes from Patrick Droney and some new reality TV. Honestly, what more could you want?

08 Mar 2021Eric Ku on vintage Cartier, gem-set Rolex and the dark arts of laser welding01:11:09

Early on in our conversation with watch collecting supremo Eric Ku, he says that the best careers are born out of passion. For Ku that career started in college and the early days of the internet. It’s led him around the world, hunting out the finest fresh to market vintage watches, a type of ‘Indiana Jones’ watch collecting that is becoming increasingly rare and difficult these days. While we’re talking about legends — we ask Eric for his take on the rarest, or at least the most exciting vintage Rolex around, as well as the changing nature of watch auctions. We also talk about the enduring appeal of Cartier and the allure of the Crash as a design object with its own mythology.

Ku also talks about LA Watch Works, and the work involved in restoring a watch properly, and knowing when restoration or refinishing is the right choice. But it’s not all vintage — we talk about the fine line watch brands walk when releasing historically inspired watches and why brands like IWC are doing it right.

This week's week’s episode is brought to you by Australian retailer Kennedy. We chat about their online boutique, why e-commerce is the future of watch retail, and learn about the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition ‘Tribute to 3705’ available exclusively online. To check out the IWC watches we discuss, as well as their wider range, visit Kennedy at kennedy.com.au

This week, Andy continues his chat with IWC’s MVPs, and this time, he chats with Markus Bühler, Associate Director of Watch and Movement Assembly. From job satisfaction to having a tourbillon  (or two) with bearing his name, Bühler provides insights into IWC’s meticulous approach to watchmaking. Before this chat, however, Felix goes wildly off-topic with an impassioned defence of one of the greatest works of cinema of the 21st century.

01 Aug 2024Arthur Touchot (Phillips Watches) PLUS Andy's IWC Manufacture tour01:05:14

We help Enrique find the perfect pilot's watch.

Enrique is learning to fly. So it’s our mission to find him a watch to mark this milestone. Andy and Felix suit up, unpack the Right Stuff and bust out some – occasionally odd – pilot’s watches. Breitling and Rolex make sense. But Bulgari? And that weird, super expensive Seiko. Odd flex but OK.

Andy’s picks:

  1. Bremont H4 Hercules, Steel.
  2. Rolex Skydweller, Oystersteel and White Gold, Black Dial.
  3. Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT
  4. Zenith El Primero A384 Revival

Felix’s picks:

  1. Breitling Navitimer B01 43mm
  2. Omega Speedmaster ‘First Omega in Space’ in Sedna Gold
  3. Zenith Rainbow Flyback El Primero

13 May 2021Andy and Felix pick their favourite releases from Watches & Wonders 202100:34:00

Now that Watches & Wonders is firmly in our rearview mirrors and the dust has settled, we thought it was high time to do some soul-searching and come up with our favourite releases from the virtual fair. Felix, in typical fashion, went a little weird and focused on some less-hyped releases and, in a spectacular cop-out move, picked every single colourful watch from the fair.

Andy, however, played it relatively straight with four rock-solid choices, including a controversial Rolex, some colourful options and a knock-out Perpetual Calendar from none other than A. Lange & Söhne.

24 Aug 2023Paulin Watches’ Lewis Heath and Imogen Ayres on the future of the Scottish brand00:57:18

Double trouble today with Lewis Heath and Imogen Ayres, who you might know as founder and founding team member of anOrdain — but if you’re hoping for an in-depth chat on enamel, you’ll be disappointed. Instead, we’re talking about Paulin Watches, a Scottish brand that anOrdain has recently acquired and has big plans for. Heath and Ayres explain how Paulin’s more design-focused, accessible identity means that the brand has more scope for experimentation than the anOrdain, with its time-consuming enamel dials and long waitlists. Of course, they’ve relaunched with a bang, in the form of the 35mm modular Modul, with some truly wild dials.

17 Nov 2022John Buckley on Rolex dials, watch deals and cracking TikTok01:19:08

Today’s guest, John Buckley, casts a long shadow over the world of vintage Rolex. He's a veteran of the New York watch scene who has seen trends come and hype go, which makes the fact that he’s TikTok famous somewhat surprising. Buckley’s TikTok’s follow him on his visits to the dealers of 47th street and gives you a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing of watches far removed from the white glove service of the boutique environment.

Gem-set Daytonas sit in plastic pouches, waiting to be plucked out by John, who will inevitably ask, “how much is this $60,000 watch.” We find out what John thinks about the watch market's state, why he’s on TikTok and why a reality watch TV show might be coming to a streaming service near you.

This episode is sponsored by G-Shock Australia. This week, in our retrospective exploration of the iconic model, we discuss the watch in the 2000s. Eminem, Bieber and all the other cool kids wear them. Stay tuned for more on the future of the digital icon, and discover more at G-Shock Australia.
