03 Jun 2018The Complete EMU (Part One)01:19:32
Welcome to the Complete Enigmatic Mysteries of the Unknown, or EMU, as it’s amusingly known. Part One. This first part includes the first six mini episodes that were originally released to patrons during season one, and then released to everyone else during the hiatus between seasons one and two. The reason I’ve chosen to re-release these in two long comprehensive episodes is because Dave, the creator and host of EMU, becomes an important character in season 3 of Ostium, so I want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to be completely caught up with the whole story. Now, since I’m re-releasing these episodes, I could easily clean-up and remaster them for sound quality, but I’m choosing to keep them as they are. Dave is not an audio producer, he’s just a guy who wanted to make a show about some thoughts and ideas he had. I feel the - at times - inferior audio quality adds more to his character. So, sit back - if you’re sitting - and if you’ve never experienced Enigmatic Mysteries of the Unknown before, prepare to be . . . englightened . . . These episodes were written, produced, and voiced by Alex C. Telander. If you like Ostium, please consider supporting us on Patreon for as little as two dollars a month, where you’ll get access to mini episodes including The Ostium Files. As a supporter you’ll get your very own special door, and, eventually, your very own Ostium File. If you would like to just make a one-time donation, you can also do so through our website, ostiumpodcast.com. And if you haven’t already, please gives us a rating and review on iTunes, as this makes Ostium more visible to new listeners, and the more listeners and support we get, the longer Ostium will run. Ostium Season 3 will return with Episode 21 on September 2nd. Thank you.

The voice of Monica is performed by Georgia Mckenzie.  The music was composed by Chris Fletcher. Drumming for the theme song was performed by my brother, Dan Telander, at the Bakermoon Studios in Berlin. If you enjoyed it, you can hear more of Dan’s drumming with the band Modern Earl. 22 Aug 2021Behind the Ostium Part 3 - Season One - Episode 1 - Population Zero00:13:31

Welcome to a new Behind the Ostium. In this first of ten parts, we start deconstructing and talking about Season One. Because I didn't want to just have me talking the whole time, I brought in a friend and fellow Ostium fanatic, Dwayne Farver, to pose his own thoughts and questions. We talk about where Population Zero came from and what I was hoping to do with the episode and Jake getting to Ostium for the first time.

And if you enjoyed the first episode and would like access to the whole series, you can do that on the Ostium Patreon. At the $5 tier you can get access to the forty plus episodes of the Behind the Ostium series, plus ad-free episodes of the Ostium Network shows, and a whole bunch of bonus material.

15 Jul 2018The Complete Ostium Season One (REMASTERED) - Part Two01:24:20
Welcome to the complete Ostium Season One (Remastered) - Part Two. I know. That's a mouthful. So let's break it up into its separate parts. The Complete Ostium Season One: That's right, we're releasing the entire season one without the chit-chat before and after the episode so new fans can gobble up the whole season much faster and quickly get caught up. Remastered: When I first started making Ostium, it was my introduction to podcasts and sound design and producing. Since then I've learned a lot, and wanted to clean up and equalize the sound so the episodes were more even and cleaner, also there were a few sound effects I wanted to fix. Part Two: I've divided this "complete" season one into three parts. Because Part One is two hours long. Part Two is an hour and 24 minutes long. Part Three is two hours and three minutes long. These parts follow the three story-arcs of the first season. Part Two consists of episodes five through seven, as we are introduced to Monica, Jake gets to know Monica, and they have some unexpected visitors. Episode 5: A.W.O.L. Episode 6: Dialogues Episode 7: Visitors All episodes were written and produced by Alex C. Telander. The part of Jake Fisher is performed by Chris Fletcher. The past of Monica is performed by Georgia Mckenzie. Interstitial music pieces were composed by Chris Fletcher. Background music is courtesy of the incredible people at the Free Music Archive. All sound effects are courtesy of the talented people at Freesound.org. If you enjoyed this and would like more Ostium as well as to support the show, consider helping us out on Patreon for as little as $2 a month where you'll get access to many bonus mini episodes, upcoming outtakes for season 2, and special mini episodes called The Ostium Files. 13 May 2018Ostium File #14400:10:20
In celebration of the Ostium Twitter account hitting 1000 followers, here's a very special release of Ostium File #144 for everyone to enjoy. If you enjoy this episode, you can get lots more Ostium Files by supporting Ostium on Patreon, as well as lots of other content. You will also get your own unique door number, and eventually, your very own Ostium File. When you made the decision to become a patron of the Ostium Podcast, you were assigned a number, a door unique to you. There was a reason for that. It is possible that Ostium has not always been abandoned, not always population zero. Perhaps at one time there were people - from the future? The past? - who traveled through the doors of Ostium to different places in time and space to learn and educate and record their experiences. Perhaps these recordings are still in existence . . . Welcome to . . . The Ostium Files. To the patron who entered through Door #144, this is your story. Written and produced by Alex C. Telander Performed by Justy Gee. If you enjoy this performance, be sure to check out her awesome podcast, Starless. Music composed by Chris Fletcher

23 Dec 2018Episode 30 - Fade to Black00:39:14
Jake makes some big decisions with the help of Dave to make things right in Ostium, but possibly at the cost of their own lives. And we have now, sadly, come to the end of season 3. Hope you enjoyed it. Please keep listening to the whole of this outro for lots of important Ostium-related details. Season 4 takes our intrepid friends to a very interesting place where they get up to many strange adventures. We’re going to be taking a bit of break to get it all recorded and ready for you wonder fans. The first episode of season four will drop April 7th, 2019. Now, there is a way you can get season four started sooner, and that’s by become a patron of Ostium on Patreon. For as little as $2 a month you can get access to your very own door number and special short story, as well as the ongoing Ostium Files series and outtakes. There are also many more rewards at levels, such as behind the scenes specials, access to the music and artwork of Ostium, and even videos. If we hit our first goal of having 50 patrons support Ostium, you’ll get season four started a whole month earlier, on March 3rd, 2019. If we hit our second goal of 75 patrons, season 4 will start on February 3rd. And if we somehow hit 100 patrons in the next week, season 4 will begin January 6th without any hiatus. So here’s what you need to do. First, become a patron. You can change your tier level whenever you want. Second, tell your friends, family, complete strangers about Ostium and about become a patron so everyone can get season 4 Ostium started sooner. It’s as simple as that. This episode was written and produced by Alex C. Telander. The voice of Jake is performed by Chris Fletcher. The voice of Dave is performed by Alex C. Telander. The voice of the unknown creature was performed by Arden Rachel. The music was composed by Chris Fletcher. Thank you everyone who listened or talked or has ever mentioned Ostium. You listeners are a big part of why we do this, the other smaller part is we love doing it. And don’t worry, there’s going to be many, many more seasons of Ostium coming. For anyone attending Podcon, two of us from Team Ostium will be there: Georgia, the voice of Monica, and myself. So if you see someone wearing an Ostium shirt and looking lost, chances are it’ll be me, so come on over and say hi. Don’t worry, I’ll be feeling just as shy and awkward as everyone else. I’m also going to be giving away a bunch of copies of the Ostium book, so don’t forget to mention that. I don’t care if you’re a podcast fan, a podcast creator or actor, you’re an Ostium fan and I’d be happy to give you a copy of the Ostium book and autograph it if you like. I’ll be doing another announcement or two before we get to the weekend of Podcon. But for now. This is me, Alex C. Telander, closing the book on season three and looking ahead to season four. Thank you all again, so much, for support this little idea that has become a big show that Team Ostium loves so much to make.

And

Two, by sharing the Indiegogo link with friends, family, and through your social media and telling everyone about this campaign and why you want it to succeed.

You can find the link right here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ostium-podcast-season-6/x/20301440#/, or by going to Indiegogo.com and searching for Ostium Podcast. You can also find it on our social media pages.

10 May 2022Rusty Quill Network Announcement00:01:52

Hey everyone, Alex C. Telander here; creator and writer for Ostium. And it gives me great pleasure to announce that the Ostium Podcast is now officially part of the Rusty Quill Network. When they got in touch with me over a year ago and we began talking, it didn’t take me long to know this would be the beginning of a beautiful partnership and friendship. Rusty Quill aligns with Team Ostium in values and representation, and we’re honored to be included with all these wonderful shows on the Rusty Quill Network.

What does this mean for the Ostium Podcast? Well, nothing is really going to change. We’re still going to be making the show in exactly the same way we have for the last five years, and Rusty Quill will be helping with hosting and promotion and getting Ostium into more people’s ears.

And I would just like to welcome our new Rusty Quill listeners. You’ve got five seasons of Ostium to enjoy, plus a bunch of bonus material. And we’re working hard on season six right now which we’re hoping to get released later this year. But I also have something else in the works to keep everyone entertained coming late summer if season six isn’t ready yet. I came up with an idea for a miniseries that’s now turned into a potential long-running bonus series called the Ostium Sagas. So that’s something to look forward to later this year.

And just a quick mention of our Patreon, where you can get access to the Ostium Sagas in the very near future, as well as a lot of bonus content on there, including ad free episodes to all the Ostium Network shows. Once again that’s patreon.com/ostiumpodcast.

Okay, thanks for listening to this update, and again we’re really happy to be with the Rusty Quill Network, and if you want to hear more about how this all happened, I’ll be talking in detail in the next Writing Walks episode, which is my writing podcast available wherever you get your podcasts.

Thank you listeners, old and new, and may you always find your door.

16 Jun 2022Welcome to the Ostium Sagas00:11:10

Hey everyone, Alex C. Telander here. So I wanted to talk to you a little more about the Ostium Sagas. It’s this miniseries I started putting together to keep you wonderful listeners entertained while we continue working on season six. Speaking of which, I'm shooting for a tentative release date of January 2023 for season six. So, what was supposed to be a short miniseries has now ballooned into a big, long-running spinoff series. Funny how things like that with Ostium tend to happen. I’ve been writing it all longhand and just finished filling up my sixth journal with the ongoing story and I’ve got at least twenty-five thousand words written at this point. Yeah, it’s pretty big and I’m having a lot of fun writing and putting it together.

Anyway, the treat I have for you today is that first episode of the Ostium Sagas. I’ve actually started releasing it on the Ostium Network Patreon, which you can find here. I’m also doing something special over there where all patrons get access to it at whichever tier they choose to subscribe at. Episodes of the Ostium Sagas have already been released, and some patrons have said they’re really enjoying the story, and there’s new episodes dropping every week. So you could get access to the Ostium Sagas right now by becoming a patron right here. And like I said, this is going to be a long-running series as I have over thirty episodes already written, with many more to come. So one last time, become a patron at any level via this link and get access to the Ostium Sagas right now.

The Ostium Sagas is created, written and produced by Alex C. Telander.

The voice of Steve is Alex C. Telander.

The theme song is “Synthwave Car” by Gushito.

The music featured in this episode is “Ohm” by Michele Nobler.

23 Jun 2022Ostium Firsts: Introducing Woe.Begone00:16:07

Hey everyone, Alex C. Telander here. As you know, I was very happy to announce recently that the Ostium Podcast has joined the Rusty Quill Network. And for the last few months I’ve started listening to some of the great shows that are part of that network, and then I started chatting with the creator of one of those shows, and in the coming weeks you’re going to get a treat here on the Ostium feed with the first episodes of some of those shows. Like I said, I’ve been listening to these shows and they’re really awesome, so I wanted to share their awesomeness with you and hopefully help you get hooked on a great new audiodrama, or two, or ten! So these will start releasing over the ensuing weeks and months and hopefully you’ll give them a listen and then, once you’re hooked, you find them in your podcast app and subscribe and start enjoying all the other episodes.

And my first recommendation from the Rusty Quill Network is Woe Begone. Check it out.

08 Jul 2022Ostium Firsts: Introducing The Town Whispers00:23:43

Hey everyone, Alex C. Telander here, and before we get to this week’s Firsts episode started, we wanted to take a moment to address the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe versus Wade on June 24th, 2022. Everyone should have the freedom to decide what is best for themselves and their families, including when it comes to ending a pregnancy. Abortion is a basic healthcare need for millions of people of all genders, and this decision has far-reaching consequences for every single person in America. People, not politicians, should be able to make their own decisions including when it comes to abortion care. We have more information linked at choice.crd.co, and if you are able, consider donating to abortion funds. Please speak up, take care, and spread the word.

Our next recommendation from the Rusty Quill Network is The Storage Papers.

04 Sep 2022Ostium Sagas 001 - Introintroduction00:10:58

Hey everyone, Alex C. Telander. And as we continue putting Ostium Season Six together, it’s time to let you enjoy what else I’ve been working on all year. You’ve probably heard me mention the Ostium Sagas a few times . . . this new what has now become its own big, long running series about a strange book Steve finds in the Ostium Network from the eighteenth century. You might have already listened to the first episode when it was released a while ago, but you’re getting it again to kick off the series in order, but don’t worry, you’ll also get the second episode as well. And then a new episode every week until Ostium Season Six is ready to release. And we’ll keep the Ostium Sagas running on alternate weeks as we release season six episodes, so you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained.

Now, if you enjoy the first two episodes and want more right away, you can become a patron on the Ostum Network Patreon and by supporting at any level, you’ll get access to all the Ostium Sagas episodes already released there, which is about fifteen episodes. So something to think about. Again, just head on over to our Patreon.

Okay, I hope you enjoy the Ostium Sagas. This little idea I had at the beginning of the year that’s blossomed into something I can’t stop writing and recording and putting together, and totally love every moment of it along the way.

Let’s now take a journey together into the Ostium Sagas . . .

23 Nov 2022Ostium Firsts: Introducing The Cellar Letters00:16:06

Our next recommendation from the Rusty Quill Network is The Cellar Letters.

Episode 1 - The Move: I recently lost my job and decided to move across the country and document the whole thing. Things in the new house seem a bit... off.

07 Dec 2022Ostium Firsts: Introducing How it Ends00:30:13

About How it Ends

On an ordinary evening in November 1993, Micah’s entire world collapsed when her father, Nolan, died in a car accident. As time passed, Micah suffered from horrifying night terrors and an eerie recurring dream that left her exhausted and on edge. How it Ends was supposed to free her from her nightmares and help her deal with her loss… but when she receives new information about her father’s accident from an unexpected source, Micah’s world changes once again. And she discovers that sometimes dreams aren’t dreams at all—they’re memories.

About Season 1, Episode 1: Nolan Jones

Micah knew that when she left her New Jersey hometown for college in Rhode Island, she'd never look back. Episode 1 of How it Ends brings us into Micah's world 25 years after her dad's death and despite her attempt, all those years ago... she quickly learns that you can't run from your past. This episode features one of Micah's rare trips back home to visit her mother, Ava. As their conversation stirs up long-forgotten memories and Ava can't--or won't--answer Micah's questions, it sets Micah on a search for information about a potential link between her father's accident and a recurring nightmare she's had since childhood.

Content warnings: Grief, death of a parent, alcohol consumption, stalking, adult language.
