02 Sep 2021 | On Telling Your Own Story w Tomas Street | 00:54:34
Today on the show we have my brother, Tomas Street. He is a narrative director for a major video game franchise. He has been in the film industry for 25 years, basically doing every role there is to do. And he taught me just about everything I know about storytelling. So in this episode we talk about storytelling, what makes a boring story, our upbringing and why we care so much about stories, and of course there's some brotherly love along the way. If you have been trying to figure out what is your why, your motivation, what is the thing that drives you to do what you do in this world. That's what we really dig into today, finding that character motivation with you being the main character. I hope you enjoy this conversation with Tomas Street. Now let's get into it! >>> Learn more & access Alex's FREE offerings here: https://www.alexstreet.ca/ig

We talk about knowing when it's your turn, what it's like being directed, Goodwill Hunting, and the fact that most of the important conversations have already happened in your life. He challenges me in a really authentic and real way towards the end of this and I'm sure that you're going to feel challenged as well. >>> Learn more & access Alex's FREE offerings here: https://www.alexstreet.ca/nobs

07 Jun 2022 | 82 - From Perfect to Authentic w Daniel Duvall | 00:49:39
Daniel Duvall is first and foremost a husband and father of two young sons. He works as a certified parent life coach, helping parents build balance in their personal, work, and family lives. Over the past decade, Daniel has been an elementary school teacher, volleyball coach, and volunteer for Best Buddies and Catholic Charities. Daniel loves everything about being a parent and says that he learns more from his kids than they learn from him. In being a parent coach, parents come to him with questions and the hope to be better. With his guidance and insightful questioning, Daniel helps them to realize that establishing a stronger and healthier relationship with yourself is the key component to being a better partner and thus, parent. As someone who taught elementary school for roughly a decade, Daniel shares that service is a core value in his life; it’s about “giving my gifts and myself to situations or people that need it, knowing that I am doing this and getting nothing in return.” He states that so much of service is rooted in unconditional love, like that of parenting. Near the end of our conversation Daniel mentions that at the end of the day, the most powerful thing you can do as a parent is to be yourself and love your kids for who they are. Acknowledge the feelings, emotions, and experiences that your children have can be different than yours – both when you were a child and now as a parent, but knowing and appreciating their happiness is practicing your unconditional love for them. Having Daniel on the podcast was amazing and he shared some powerful thoughts, experiences, and information. 14 Jun 2022 | 84 - From Hiding to Confident w Susan Hay | 00:53:13
Susan Hay – Suz – is a podcaster, community builder, mindset thought leader, and NLP business coach. She’s a college drop-out turned serial entrepreneur who loves building a business the bootstrapping kind of way. While Suz loves to share the successes of her entrepreneurial journey, like growing from zero clients to 7-figures, she also believes in talking about the failures too. Previously, she owned a salon for 11 years and in 2019 made the deicion to sell it. From that moment forward, she claimed her mission of passing the entrepreneurial torch to as many women as possible. Suz is someone who wholeheartedly believes that when we rise together, we always get there faster and with better memories of the journey too! In our conversation, Suz shares some truly insightful things, mentioning that in her role as a business growth coach she consistently reminds her clients that people want to connect to the tone in your voice, to the emotion you’re portraying, and encourages more intentional presence in the online world. Social media gives us more access to people’s lives; however, we still don’t really see the full story – we only see the peaks, not the valleys. Throughout our time together, Suz shares that “you should always be thinking about your dream client when you are creating content” and encourages asking, “what can I share with my dream clients that will inspire, motivate, or attract them into what I am doing?”. She also mentions that in order to get to this space in business, you must overcome the fears and beasts to find the confidence… “At the root, if we do not believe that we are worthy, then running a business will chew us up and spit us out.” A woman that has practiced what she preaches. Speaking with Suz and learning about her story was a truly wonderful experience! Now, she wants to hear from you! Jennifer Watson, MPT, I.M.T.,C., owner of Jennifer Watson Leadership, is a dynamic speaker and coach with a gift for intuitive and visionary coaching. She is an expert in wellness + leadership development, identity & mental edge enhancement, high-performance, post-trauma growth, movement & change adaptation, and soul-aligned living mastery. Her company elevates high performing and conscious leaders to break free permanently from their blocks keeping them stuck, develop their intuitive leadership style, and take consistent, aligned action with their deeper purpose of impact. Jennifer reminds us that the power of stories is real and that stories hit people at the core, encouraging them to be open to change, to becoming more creative, and feeling motivated and influenced to reach full potential. She loves a good ‘come from behind’ or ‘underdog’ story, the kind where the human spirit takes over and goes against all odds. In fact, she reflects on a personal story and moment where she told her track team to “have the race of their lives” – something that resulted in a win and a big reflection on the journey. At one moment in our extremely fruitful conversation, Jennifer mentions that many of our beliefs in life come from our past, our childhood, and/or things we started learning and perceiving from a young age that reflected a story we heard or have. These moments and stories shape our beliefs and this feeds into our adult decisions. She encourages all her clients and all of you listening, to reflect on these stories and the way they impact your beliefs and decisions in the present. Jennifer encourages all of us to go against all odds and to live an inspired and impactful life, so reach out to the people in your corner and find ways to transform. Let’s make more of those stories where you are unstoppable! 28 Jun 2022 | 88 - From Pressure to Peace w Nastasya Rose | 00:55:03
Nastasya Rose is the creator of VIVE™, a Vision to Inspire the best Version of Energy, which is an alternative mental health practice for creators with the opportunity to learn to have peace while running a profitable vision. The vision for VIVE™ started after the trauma Nastasya faced in her own life from ages 4-14. At 14 years old, her mother was diagnosed with a mental illness. This resulted in relief and clarity, finally understanding that she was attracting mess and drama in her life, from what she was facing and dealing with at home. Nastasya says that this moment in time allowed her to realize that if she learned how to be the energy and mental health she wanted to attract, she could live the life she wanted. And thus, VIVE™ was created! Developing a space and place to live a life of freedom where the past doesn’t define you. If we can learn how to break the generational trends no longer serving us, we can create a better path for generations to come. And VIVE™ is rooted in that practice. Nastasya is someone who has truly done the work – and she identifies that through evolving you learn to own your identity, own your character, and therefore own what you’re capable of doing. She talks a lot about the importance of understanding your own story and journey, and therefore the need to dive deep into the traumas that you’ve survived and experiences you’ve had. It’s important to appreciate that doing the work is a very deep process, and to acknowledge and be proud of how far you’ve come! Our conversation is one full of strength, power, and peace, similar to her goal in work and life - serving folks in reimaging creation, igniting their brand, all while keeping their mental health first. Sometimes we must ask the tough questions like “what’s getting in your way of your success?”. In knowing this and evolving as individuals, it’s critical to “get rid of the energy that doesn’t serve you to make space for the energy that does”. We must realize that toxicity is bad and doing the work is necessary, even if it means we must slow-down to speed up. Speaking with Nastasya is always fruitful and she consistently reminds us to bring peace over pressure, especially when dealing with yourself. If you want to hear and learn more from this incredible, relatable, and empathetic person you can find Nastasya at @nastasyarose on and through VIVE™ @whyvive on Instagram, and if you’d like to apply to be a client head to whyvive.com. >>> FREE Preview of my Make Speaking Magical course here: https://www.alexstreet.ca/offers/t6xryaFv >>> Book Your 1:1 Story Coaching Clarity Call here: https://alexstreet.appointlet.com/s/story Music by Austin Archer >>> here: https://austinarchermusic.bandcamp.com/

05 Jul 2022 | 90 - From Effort to Intentionality w Eva Shuman | 00:53:11
Eva Shuman (Machado) is a nurse and business owner that has helped thousands of unfulfilled nurses who are struggling to work through the challenged of healthcare and national nursing shortage. She is the creator of Purpose People, a nursing lifestyle brand that supports nurses through merchandise, community, and giveback efforts. Purpose People has grown into a six-figure business that has shipped thousands of orders and delivered hundreds of care packages to nursing units across the country since its inception two years ago. In speaking with Eva, a good portion of our conversation is centred around intentionality and the need for purposeful living. At one point, Eva mentions that “in order to truly live your purpose in life, you have to be intentional” … so insightful! She even shared that at different times in life, there was a confusion with what achievement and effort are versus intentionality. Oftentimes we try to get noticed or awarded, putting all our effort forward to feel like achievement is there and happening, and we lose sight and touch of the intentional and purposeful approach we should be taking on. We had the opportunity to chat about competition, and specifically band and percussion competitions…how fun! It’s important to understand that the competitive atmosphere, whatever it may be for you, can be transformative – sure it helps us differentiate between winning and losing, success and failure, but also it firms the idea of community, and achieving something with your group of hardworking community members. You’ll have to listen to get the full scoop on why these band competitions were so transformative, how and why exactly Eva decided to pursue nursing – hint, she wanted/wants to help people – and why intentional living is the way to go! This conversation with Eva Shuman (her first time using her new, newlywed, last name!) was a breath of fresh air and if you’re looking for more, you can find her business at purposepeople.co OR @purposepeopleco on Instagram, and her personal account @evamachado on Instagram or TikTok. >>> FREE Preview of my Make Speaking Magical course here: https://www.alexstreet.ca/offers/t6xryaFv >>> Book Your 1:1 Story Coaching Clarity Call here: https://alexstreet.appointlet.com/s/story Music by Austin Archer >>> here: https://austinarchermusic.bandcamp.com/
12 Jul 2022 | 92 - From Pleasing to Swinging for the Fence w Austin Archer | 00:55:56
Austin is an actor, songwriter, and content creator who makes videos for TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. With over 1.1 million followers on TikTok he has established himself as an often humorous, occasionally musical voice in the political and social discourse space. Advocating frequently for lgbtqia+ rights as well as engaging in the fight to dismantle harmful social structures like white supremacy, fatphobia, and the patriarchy. Austin is also host of the podcast “People Pleaser” with Austin Archer, where he dives deep on a broad range of topics with a myriad of diverse guests. Our conversation together is insightful and exciting, and it’s clear that Austin uses his platform to engage with his community, switching the focus of his content to service based. The videos and content he sends out into the world have a goal – making someone’s day or changing their perspective! With a history and experience in film and television, Austin’s experiences with self-tapes and ultimately commercials, have taught him the creative freedom of edits and understanding that there is a benefit to standing out and making those big swing choices. Sometimes the big swing choices can be really wrong, but they can also have the benefit of being really right. It’s evident that the big swing attitude is a theme in his life – showing up with a big swing mindset and understanding that when it’s right…it’s right. Austin reminds us to be who we are and know that life and performance (whatever the type) isn’t about reinventing the wheel; rather it’s understanding and appreciating your own take on things and realizing that’s what makes me different! “Every piece of art is derivative of a thing that came before it … and everything is an amalgamation of the input that’s come before it.” What an important reminder! Austin has so much to offer, and you can hear and learn more from him through Instagram or TikTok @yourpal_austin, Austin Archer on YouTube, or you can find his music and his podcast on Apple Music and Spotify! >>> FREE Preview of my Make Speaking Magical course here: https://www.alexstreet.ca/offers/t6xryaFv >>> Book Your 1:1 Story Coaching Clarity Call here: https://alexstreet.appointlet.com/s/story Music by Austin Archer >>> here: https://austinarchermusic.bandcamp.com/

19 Jul 2022 | 94 - From No to Yes w Sarah Jansel | 00:58:42
Sarah Jansel, also known as the Shopify Queen, was in the midst of a successful 20-year corporate career that wasn’t lighting her up anymore when she carved out her own path by launching a fashion boutique on Shopify, while simultaneously remaining in that corporate job. As a VP, Sarah felt stifled and uninspired, lacking some of the space and creativity that she desired. The boutique was solely online, and she was able to search out and find all the information necessary to set an online store up and make it successful. When the pandemic hit, Sarah saw an opportunity to help business owners build, brand, and grow awesome Shopify stores which led to her decision to leave the corporate world behind and officially launch her business. Today, Jansel & Co is a thriving business that has allowed Sarah to flex her creative muscles and inspire others to create fantastic Shopify stores too! A common theme in our conversation was overcoming and not accepting the word “no”. In fact, in many moments throughout Sarah’s life, “no” simply wasn’t an option because of the critical needs and necessities that were on the line. From her lived and learned experiences, Sarah approaches every day in her business with a “yes” attitude, resulting in the doors being wide open ever since. Sarah has used her passion, drive, and creativity to help so many others on their journey. She recognizes the importance of showing up online – products are art, and how you’re able to showcase these creations and products is art as well. It’s important to figure out how to sell your passion and sell the art you’re creating! Sarah reminds us, if you can dream it, you can build it…so dream away, and connect with her for any questions or advice! 26 Jul 2022 | 96 - From Earning It to Owning It w Ashley Fillingim | 00:57:32
Ashley Fillingim is a business strategist and attorney who helps entrepreneurs create, grow, and scale. After two decades in a top-tier international law firm—including over 10 years as a litigation partner—representing Fortune 500 clients in high-stakes litigation, Ashley walked out of her corner office and into entrepreneur life. Trading high heels for flip flops and city life for the beach, she began building multiple businesses with her toes in the sand. Now, she empowers entrepreneurs with legal planning and strategy through Sandstar Law, writes and speaks on building a KickAshLife, and (accidentally) owns a wine shop in a small coastal town. She is passionate about her children, travel, the beach, sunsets, and one very large dog. Our conversation covers so much ground; whether we were talking about being enough and the fears and nervousness that surrounds the question “am I enough?”, or the importance of contracts and the strategy and effort behind creating them, Ashley’s genuine and kind persona shines bright with every word she speaks. She mentions that one of her goals is to help entrepreneurs be “owners of their business”. In fact, she wants to empower her clients and teach them some of the legal components to business, to the point where they feel empowered to step out on their own as an owner! Ashley reminds us that as entrepreneurs we are business owners, and with some help and guidance, we can take that concept to the next level with full ownership. Ashley’s motto has become being “happy in the chaos” – with so much happening and changes that are constantly taking place, she emphasizes that this is a choice, and she has made the choice to live and own this life! All while being happy doing it! An incredibly insightful and empowering person, Ashley encourages us to take that ownership. Want to hear more from her? Have any questions? For the 100th episode of the no Boring Stories podcast, we welcome the remarkable Rachel Pastor in for a deeply insightful conversation. Rachel is a transformation expert, motivational speaker/coach, a mom, wife, and author of Unf**k Your Fitness Mindset, a Master of Neurolinguistic programming and founder of Break Free Events. She created the Xperience Method—a global movement helping people by creating transformation from the inside out. Rachel uses mindset work and reprogramming to empower leaders to soulful living and to live life at peak performance as their highest self. Her newest venture is a minority co-owned, female-founded lifestyle brand celebrating diversity, inclusivity and spirituality, Anatomy of Love will focus on cultivating a soulful and radiant life of creativity, well-being, and love. Her goals are rooted in goodness, and she ultimately wants “to help people become the best version of themselves, finding and embodying the joy of who they truly are”. Rachel’s personal experiences and struggles with previous drug abuse and a former heroin addiction have been a source and driver to become aware of who she is as an individual, and have thrust her in the direction of truly doing the work and digging in. One of the most prominent parts of our conversation surrounds understanding the level of vulnerability related to the things we are currently working through; Rachel shares that speaking of these previous experiences and transformations is easier now because they are ‘worked’ through, versus ‘working’ through…something many listeners out there can appreciate. Ultimately, Rachel’s story is one that embodies growth and transformation, going from lost to loved, and learning that loving yourself is how change and leadership begins to unfold.
