10 Apr 2024 | Tasting Benedictine and B&B with Chris Hannah | 00:14:08
When it comes to cocktails, no place loves Benedictine so much as New Orleans. Which made legendary New Orleans bartender Chris Hannah the perfect person to meet up with to taste three tiny bottles - Benedictine from the 1960s, B&B from the 1970s, and B&B from the 1980s. Watch Chris mix up a Vieux Carre with the leftovers of this bottle: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5ZIgEBr0Fr/ Visit this episode on mytinybottles.com for a transcript. Heading to NOLA? 09 Apr 2024 | #56 Benedictine | 00:04:44
Finally! After two bottles of B&B, I finally find a bottle of the real deal Benedictine. And it's a super cute one, most likely from the 1960s. I've already told its history (see episode #17) so in this episode I talk about some of the ways it's been used in cocktails for the last 100+ years. 02 Oct 2024 | Tasting Canadian Club with my Dad | 00:15:42
When I realized my tiny bottle of Canadian Club was from 1972, I knew I had no choice about who to taste it with. That’s my birth year, so clearly I was going to taste it with my Dad! We do that in this episode, but we also reminisce a lot about Grandma. If you want to know more about the woman behind the collection (and I hope you do) then this one’s for you. It’s got tons of family pictures, too! Check out this episode on https://mytinybottles.com/ to watch the video or read the transcript. Want even more? 31 Jan 2024 | #44 Long John Scotch Whisky | 00:04:39
It's another great looking bottle of blended Scotch from the 1970s! This one's named after a man described as a "Happy Hercules" and has a really fun brand history. And like my previous episode about Bell's Scotch, this is another brand that really knew how to market themselves - but in a very different way! 08 May 2024 | #61 Taylor Fladgate 1982 LBV Port | 00:05:17
This is hands-down the wildest bottle to come out of Grandma's collection so far. A bottle of what should be a deep red port, but that's now perfectly clear! In this episode I dive into how that might have happened, talk about Port itself, and ponder what this one will taste like. Want to know more about different styles of Port? Here's a useful explainer. Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for pictures and more. Want even more? 17 Oct 2024 | #86 Luksusowa Vodka | 00:05:38
As was apparent in Reveal #17, when I was very much NOT excited to discover this bottle of Luksusowa Vodka from Poland in Grandma’s collection, I’m not a huge vodka fan. I like spirits and liqueurs because the flavors are so interesting and, most of the time with vodka, flavor is not the point! But I also like spirits and liqueurs because they have fascinating stories. And on that score, vodka does not disappoint. In this episode I talk about the history of Polish vodka and what makes Luksusowa Vodka special. Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for pictures and more. Want even more? 27 Aug 2024 | #78 Gilbey's Gin | 00:04:30
Yay! It's my first proper gin from Grandma's collection! (Sloe gin doesn't count, but I'll have a great tasting video of that later in the week.) Gilbey's is a classic London Dry Gin with a long history, and in this episode I dive into why they were one of the most counterfeited brands during US Prohibition. And what they did about it. 05 Mar 2024 | Bottle Reveal #11 | 00:05:41
There was a pretty good ratio of good bottles in this round of unboxing! One that I've been crossing my fingers for since the beginning of the project, a couple of very interesting picks, and only one stinker. 27 Feb 2024 | #48 Noblesse Canadian Whisky | 00:04:47
To tell the story of this tiny bottle of Canadian whisky, first I had to dive into the story of one of the men most responsible for making bourbon what it is today - Lewis Rosenstiel. Check out these two great links for more about the rise and fall of Rosenstiel's company, Schenley Industries. https://bourbonveach.com/2021/02/01/schenley-distillers-corporation-the-forgotten-giant-part-one/ https://bourbonveach.com/2021/02/08/schenley-distillers-corporation-the-forgotten-giant-part-two/ Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for photos and more. 18 Jul 2024 | Tasting Coffee Liqueurs with Bea Bradsell | 00:20:17
Grandma's collection of miniature liquor bottles has gifted me with three different coffee liqueurs so far - a 1960s or 70s Tia Maria, 1980s Cafe Noir from McGuinness, and 1990s Coloma coffee liqueur. In this episode I open them all with Bea Bradsell. Bea is director of The Drink Cabinet and daughter of Dick Bradsell, the man who invented the espresso martini, and a really important figure in the history of UK mixology. Bea and I talk about Dick's legacy, sample grandma's tiny bottles of coffee liqueur, and discuss which one would work best in an espresso martini. 03 Oct 2024 | Tasting Dusty Booze with Aaron Goldfarb | 00:11:15
Aaron Goldfarb‘s latest book is Dusty Booze: The Search for Vintage Spirits, and in it he tells the stories of vintage spirit collectors and the subculture that has sprung up around the pursuit of dusty bottles. So he seemed like the perfect guest for My Tiny Bottles. Aaron chose a pair of eclectic liqueurs to crack open with me – DeKuyper Apple Barrel Schnapps and Convier Menta. Listen in to find out why the Peach Schnapps craze of the 1980s changed the bourbon landscape, and why mint liqueur is going to be the next big collector craze! 14 May 2024 | #62 Roncoco | 00:04:27
Bottle #62 is Roncoco, a coconut liqueur based on white rum, bottled in Lake Alfred, Florida, under the authority of Ron Matusalem of San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a rum fan, I was already aware of the Ron Matusalem name, although these days it is made and based in the Dominican Republic rather than Puerto Rico. As I started digging into its history I didn’t find much about Roncoco, but I did find a LOT of drama, which I dig into in this episode. 25 Jun 2024 | #70 Rémy Martin VSOP Cognac | 00:04:15
Rémy Martin is one of the “Big Four” Cognac houses that dominate production. One of the most obvious things that distinguishes it from the other Cognacs I’ve discovered in Grandma’s collection is that the company that makes it was actually founded by Frenchmen! Bottle #7: Martell’s founder was an Englishman, and Bottle #19: Hennessey’s was Irish. Learn all about that and more in this episode. 01 Oct 2024 | #83 Lot No. 40 Canadian Whisky | 00:05:46
In this episode I talk about how Canadian whisky is made, what makes Canadian whisky different from American whiskey, and why in Canada it's all called "rye". When Lot No. 40 was first released in 1998 (the era of my bottle), it broke a lot of those rules, which helped explain why it came and went, then came again. But since 2012 it's been here to stay, thanks to the craft cocktail revival and changing whiskey tastes. Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for pictures and more. Want even more? 22 Mar 2023 | Tasting Tiny Bottles with Casey Miller | 00:20:12
So far, I’ve revealed and researched 10 vintage tiny bottles but have yet to taste any. Until now. In my first-ever tasting episode, I sat down with Casey Miller, my favorite bartender at my favorite bar, The Last Word, to compare my tiny bottle of vintage Disaronno with its modern counterpart. Then Casey mixed up a few amaretto cocktails (see recipes at mytinybottles.com) before I surprised him with a bonus tiny bottle to taste: Le Grand Amour. Want more Tammy? This episode is a whole barrel of fun as I dive into a barrel filled with mini bottles. This faux barrel of Canadian Club was released in the late 1990s and has four bottles inside it - a regular 6-year old, a "Reserve" 10-year old, a 100 proof bottle, and a Sherry Cask finished bottle. 25 Jul 2024 | Another Look at Myers's Rum (Liquor & Liqueur Connoisseur) | 00:20:15
Hello My Tiny Bottles listeners! This summer has been really hectic, and I don't have a new episode for you this week. Instead, I'm bringing you a guest episode from another podcast I think you'll love - Liquor and Liqueur Connoisseur. Host Matt Birchard and I are planning to meet up later in the year to taste some Tiny Bottles together, but in the meantime, I wanted to give you a sneak peak at his podcast. This particular episode is Matt's take on Bottle #72 - Myers's Rum. He did some amazing digging to find out the origin story of the brand. Without it, I would have had almost nothing to say when I first talked about the company in Bottle #45 - Myers Original Rum Cream. So it's a really nice complement to my episodes. Give it a listen, and be sure to subscribe if you enjoy Matt's approach as much as I do! Cheers!

01 Aug 2024 | Bottle Reveal #16 | 00:06:29
It's time for another unboxing video as I pick a few new bottles from Grandma's collection of vintage miniature liquor bottles. This one has a couple bottles of whiskies I'm excited to taste, and one that I'm not. Then there's a mystery liqueur, and a bottle that I was downright offended to find out existed. 01 May 2024 | Tasting Brandy with Jennifer Querbes of Brandy Sainte Louise | 00:16:49
This tasting video was such a delight! My guest was Jennifer Querbes from Brandy Sainte Louise. We were both blown away at how similar my tiny old bottle of DeValcourt 10 Year Old French Brandy tasted to the brandy she's created! (Spoiler: they were both really delicious.) Then we moved on to taste a half evaporated bottle of Christian Brothers American brandy, which was also surprising in its own way. I hope you enjoy listening to this video as much as we did making it! Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for photos and more. Want even more? To uncover the story behind this bottle, first Tammy had to decipher its name in Greek. And it only got more interesting from there, leading to the Mayor of Thessalonki, the science of anethole, and more. In the video version of this story, the clip of ouzo louching was provided courtesy of Tassos Koidis. Check out his YouTube video if you want to learn more about the science behond ouzo. 24 Sep 2024 | #82 Canadian Club | 00:06:11
Hiram Walker was a Massachusetts-born American who only spent four years actually living in Canada. But despite all that, he would go on to be one of Canada's most influential distillers, and his legacy lives on still today. In this episode Tammy explores how Walker's "Club" Whiskey became Canadian, and why it makes her think of her childhood. Check out this bottle on https://mytinybottles.com/ for pictures and more.
