Rich Walker/Solstice biography:

Solstice is an English epic doom metal band from Dewsbury, founded by Rich Walker after the breakup of his previous hardcore punk / grindcore bands Sore Throat and Warfear.

Rich Walker previously ran The Miskatonic Foundation, a record label dedicated to doom metal and traditional heavy metal.

Contemporary with the second wave of black metal that was especially active in Norway and other Scandinavian nations, Solstice released their debut album Lamentations on England's Candlelight Records in 1994. The album was followed by a UK tour with Count Raven and a European tour with Anathema.

1996 saw the release of the Halcyon EP on Godhead Recordings; two years later, the band signed with Misanthropy Records, which helped release New Dark Age. During these times, Solstice were experiencing issues with their line-up, which culminated in them splitting up in 2002.

Solstice was reunited in 2007 after a five-year hiatus. Walker commented that he was inspired to continue Solstice after enlisting Andrew Whittaker from The Lamp of Thoth. The recruitment of Paul Britton on vocals and Richard Horton on drums, both formerly of NWOBHM outfit Scarab) was brief, but the band had Procession singer Felipe temporarily fill the vocalist position to honour live commitments.

Buoyed by their live success, Solstice recruited Paul Thomas Kearns a full-time vocalist in summer 2011. An Irishman living in Oslo, Kearns appeared on one album with disbanded Irish doom/death metal band Arcane Sun. The new line-up of Solstice made their live debut on 24 September 2011, opening for Primordial's 20-year anniversary show at Dublin's Academy Del Nichol replaced Richard Horton on drums later in 2011, and was also replaced nine months later by Deceptor's drummer James Ashbey.

Solstice ended their 12-year absence from the recording studio in early 2013 with the release of their Mini LP Death's Crown is Victory, issued on their own "White Horse" imprint. They promoted this release by touring across Europe.

In late 2019, Hel Thorne, alternately regarded as Hagthorn, was revealed as the new vocalist of Solstice, having replaced Paul Thomas Kearns. To commemorate her joining the band, Solstice released a two-song EP called White Thane, which consisted of two songs from their 2018 album White Horse Hill reworked with Hagthorn on vocals. Hagthorn's previous musical experience includes being the vocalist for Vermont-based doom metal band Chalice."

"Julian Richings was born and raised in Oxford, England, and is one of three boys. All pursued careers in professional theatre: his older brother is a set designer, and his younger brother is a lighting designer. After graduating from the University of Exeter Drama Department in 1977, he performed extensively in theatres throughout the UK.

In 1980 he toured internationally in a highly acclaimed adaptation of James Joyce's Ulysses with resident spells in New York, Chicago, Toronto and Grotowski's Teatr Laboritorium in Wroclaw, Poland. Julian settled in North America in 1984 and became an established presence in Toronto's theatre and film scene, assuming roles in three landmark independent films; The Red Violin, Cube and Hard Core Logo. The latter, directed by Bruce McDonald in 1996, is ranked among the greatest Canadian films of all time, in which Julian played the bitter punk legend Bucky Haight.

He continued to work frequently with Bruce McDonald and reprised the role in Hard Core Logo 2 almost fifteen years later. Julian worked with Special Effects legend Stan Winston on Wrong Turn (2003) and applied his physical theatre skills to create the terrifying role of Three Finger. Although he only appeared in the original movie, five subsequent films were made in what became a highly successful horror franchise.

He has since become a familiar figure in horror and genre films, collaborating with indie trailblazers Foresight Features and Black Fawn Films. With Vortex Productions, he starred in Anything For Jackson, for which he received a BITS (Blood In The Snow) Award. He has also appeared in Robert Eggers' The Witch and Ari Aster's Beau Is Afraid for A24 films and the blockbusters X-Men 3, Man of Steel, and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

In Percy Jackson, he is the only actor to have appeared in both the movie (as Charon) and the Disney series (Crusty). Among his hundreds of television appearances, Julian is perhaps best known for recurring roles in Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital (Otto), Patriot (Peter Ichabod) and perhaps most significantly as the Grim Reaper in Supernatural (Death). Over the years, due to his portrayals of various vampires, creatures and aliens, together with many a spectacular onscreen demise, Julian has enjoyed collaborating with special effects teams worldwide, spending many hours in makeup and prosthetics.

At one particularly busy phase of his career, his severed head was prominently displayed on the walls of half a dozen special effects shops across North America. Julian is always happy to meet fans, share his many stories from working in the industry for almost fifty years, and simply discuss his love of performing. He has become a favourite guest at ComicCons and Fan Conventions."

He began his acting career in New York theaters, appearing in more than 75 productions over the course of 12 years. His roles included that of Sgt. Merwin J. Toomey in Neil Simon's Tony Award winning play "Biloxi Blues". He is best remembered for his roles in Die Hard 2, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, The Shawshank Redemption and Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight.

He is also a television star, appearing in such sitcoms as Roseanne and Murphy Brown and such movies-of-the weeks as Charlie and the Great Balloon Chase. Sadler also starred as Sheriff Jim Valenti on the WB science fiction television series Roswell."

"D.J. MacHale is a writer, director, executive producer and creator of several popular television series and movies.  As an author, his ten-volume book series:  Pendragon:  Journal of an Adventure Through Time and Space became a New York Times #1 bestseller.

He was raised in Greenwich, CT where he had several jobs including collecting eggs at a poultry farm; engraving trophies and washing dishes in a steakhouse…in between playing football and running track.   D.J. graduated from New York University with a BFA in film production.

His film-making career began in New York where he worked as a freelance writer/director making corporate videos and television commercials.

D.J. broke into the entertainment business by writing several ABC Afterschool Specials. As co-creator of the popular Nickelodeon series: Are You Afraid of the Dark?, he produced all 91 episodes.  D.J. also wrote and directed the movie Tower of Terror for ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney. The Showtime series Chris Cross was co-created, written and produced by D.J. It received the CableAce award for Best Youth Series.

D.J. created and produced the Discovery Kids/NBC television series Flight 29 Down.  He wrote every episode and directed several. His work on Flight 29 Down earned him the Writers Guild of America award for Outstanding Children’s Script and a Directors Guild of America award nomination.

Other notable television writing credits include the ABC Afterschool Special titled Seasonal Differences; the pilot for the long-running PBS/CBS series Ghostwriter; and the HBO series Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective for which he received a CableAce nomination for writing.

In print, D.J. also authored the supernatural Morpheus Road trilogy;  a whimsical picture book The Monster Princess; and The SYLO Chronicles, a thrilling sci-fi trilogy.  He also wrote Voyagers: Project Alpha, the first of a six book science fiction adventure.

The Equinox Curiosity Shop is a fantasy-adventure that marked a unique departure in that it was published solely as an audio book.

D.J.’s latest traditional book series is The Library, a spooky middle-grade anthology about a mysterious library filled with unfinished supernatural tales, and the daring young people who must complete them.

John Butterfield bio:

"John Butterfield first stepped on a stage at the age of 16 in a production of Peter Pan in his home town of Walnut Creek, California. Further study, as part of a regional young rep programme led him to specialise in dance and choreography. This, along with teaching kept him working and busy until aged 22 he enrolled on an acting programme at The Drama Studio, London in Berkeley.

For the next ten years John forged a successful career dancing, choreographing and acting throughout California before forming his own dance company in 1989. The New Urban Dance Company created and performed original dance theatre works in the Bay Area C.A. John continued to teach and work freelance for a number of dance companies throughout the United States.

In 1994 the Butterfield 8 Theatre Company was created as a theatrical branch of his dance company and John began to explore more physical theatre. On completion of his bachelor programme at St. Mary College, Morga in 2002 his interest in theatre direction was such that he took a year out from his company to start a Masters in Theatre Arts at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School and Victoria University.

On his return to California, John settled the Butterfield 8 Theatre Company into their residence at The Cue Theatre, a converted pool hall in Concord, C.A. Here he set about creating new work and re-telling classics. Working with actors to ensure the focus was on the work and not on the individual, they experimented with puppetry, gender casting, projection, movement, and environmental theatre. Telling stories in an intimate space meant that the audience was key to any performance and this was one of the factors that led them to be named as one of the Top 10 small theatre companies in the Bay Area.

In 2014, John returned to Toi Whakaari to complete his Masters creating Your Body is a Battleground, a work of physical theatre exploring gender and desire as his final thesis. This return to Aotearoa reaffirmed for him that the innovative arts environment here was where he wished to continue to work, teach and create."

In summer of 2018 she played a lady AND a charlatan opposite Tom Hanks' Falstaff in the Shakespeare Center Los Angeles production of Henry IV Parts 1&2. She was part of the LA Drama Critics' Circle Award-Winning 2016 production of Disgraced at the Mark Taper Forum in LA and she won the Falstaff Award for best Female Performer in 2010 for her performance as Kate in The Taming of the Shrew at the Old Globe in San Diego.

Emily is a gifted singer; she has done her share of musicals and rock concerts. In 2012, Emily and fellow singer/comedienne Jac Huberman created a stage show called Jac N Swallow, which they perform in New York at the Laurie Beechman Theater and Joe's Pub. "Snowy Shaw (born Tommie Mike Christer Helgesson; 25 July 1968) is a Swedish heavy metal musician (primarily a drummer) based in the port city of Gothenburg in the west coast of Sweden. He has played with many heavy metal bands, like King Diamond, Dream Evil, Mercyful Fate, IllWill, and Memento Mori.

Snowy is adept at playing guitar as well as drums. He is a primary songwriter in Dream Evil. In October 2006, Snowy joined the symphonic metal band Therion, singing on the Gothic Kabbalah album and participated in the 2007 tour together with already established singer Mats Levén. In August 2010, he was announced as the new bassist and clean vocalist of symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir, although he was only officially a member for one day then quit and rejoined Therion."

He joined Bill's band Warlord and moved to Los Angeles, CA with him.

In Los Angeles, they had their kind of rehearsal studio unofficially called "Bill's Place", but it became serious and it grew out to a real studio where both known and unknown bands came over. Mark Zonder plays in several projects and does producing and engineering work at Bill's Place."

"Nicholas Vince (born May 1958) is an actor, writer, and film maker who was born in West Germany and lives in South London. He trained at Mountview Theatre Academy, and shortly after graduating he met Clive Barker, modeling for him and later being cast as The Chatterer Cenobite in Hellraiser in 1987 and in its sequel Hellbound: Hellraiser II in 1988. He subsequently played Kinski in Barker's 1990 film Nightbreed. Since 2016 he's been Patron of the London Horror Festival, the UK's original and largest festival of live horror performance. In 2016 he was awarded the "London Horror Society Award for Outstanding Contribution to UK Independent Horror" and in 2018 a "Lifetime of Torment Award" at Texas Frightmare.

For Marvel Comics he wrote stories for the Hellraiser and Nightbreed comics plus the series 'Warheads' and Mortigan Goth. He modelled for the art of John Bolton and for Dave McKean in Cages. He served as both secretary and chairman of the Comics Creators Guild. He's published two collections short stories What Monsters Do and Other People's Darkness. In 2013 he dramatised two of the stories from What Monsters Do, "Green Eyes" and "Tunes From The Music Hall". In 2017, his Hellraiser short story "Prayers for Desire" was published within Hellraiser Anthology Volume 2, detailing the origin story for The Chatterer.

He has written and directed four short films: The Night Whispered screened in the UK, USA and France; Your Appraisal is on a festival run; Necessary Evils will be included as a DVD extra on For We Are Many from Hex Studios and Kirby, A Hero for the Soska Sisters Blood Drive. In addition he has created two music videos, "We Are The Hearts" by EXGF and "We Need Blood", also for the Soska Sisters Blood Drive.

His interview series The Luggage in the Crypt appeared in the magazine Skeleton Crew. His short story "Look, See", which gives an alternative origin of the Chatterer, appeared in Fear magazine. Since 2014 he's hosted a chat show on YouTube, Chattering with Nicholas Vince, where he interviews independent film makers, writers, artists and actors.

In 2016 he starred in horror director Katie Bonham's Mindless, with 14 film festival entrances and one win so far."

The band have maintained a significant cult following and underground popularity since the '90s, and are considered to be highly influential on a range of later death metal bands. Incantation's music frequently draws on anti-Christian, Satanic and occult themes, and the band is notable for mixing widely varied tempos into their music, often playing slow, down-tuned passages similar to those performed by death-doom bands like Autopsy.

Howie is the founder, guitarist, lyricist, and sole composer of two heavy metal bands: Cauldron Born and Briton Rites. So far, four of his novelettes featuring the Cauldron Born mascot, Thorn, have been published.

Thorn is the physical manifestation of the Thorn rune. He is a god-demon figure that appears when the appropriate rites are performed — often involving human sacrifice. Thorn is a god slayer and a witch maker. He made his first appearance in “All Will Be Righted on Samhain” in SWORDS OF STEEL, a paperback anthology of sword-and-sorcery and weird-fiction stories in the grand old pulp tradition, published by DMR Books in 2015.

Another of Howie K. Bentley’s characters is Argantyr Fenris: a barbarian king who transforms into a werewolf. "When I first realized that I wanted to work as an artist in theme parks, I was about 15 years old. Having lived in and about the Los Angeles reign, I went to Disneyland & Knotts Berry Farm, a lot, I loved the creativity of them, who knew it would take me twenty-five years before I would become a significant contributor, and help to “Make the Magic”.

I started sculpting in high school. It was a natural form of artistic expression for me. My creative inspirations ran the gamut, but my primary interest was manipulating the human face. Make-up Effects was a natural path for me to follow. I got my start at the age of twenty, working for Roger Corman. At the “School of Corman” one does a little bit of everything. For myself, this included Rotoscoping, working in the model shop, assisting in the Camera and Art departments, and eventually finding my way into make-up. Particularly, special effects, prosthetics, monsters and dead things. My career as a Special Effects Make-up Artist flourished for fifteen years. Notable projects included my skills as Key Artist for several of the “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise films, the “Critters” franchise, and the H.P. Lovecraft cult-film “The Unnamable”.

When I experienced my first digital “morph” in the 1988 film “Willow”, I saw the writing on the wall. The digital world had arrived! I taught myself Photoshop and never looked back. I’ve always been fascinated with special effects. Star Wars became one of the biggest influences in my early career. Yes, I know everyone says that, but it’s appropriate to give credit where credit is due!

So here I am today; a cross platform “Digital Ronin” with an emphasis in media production for various theme parks. Most recently Ive been working with Warner Bros Studios Tours on the widely popular “Horror Made Here”. I’ve managed projects and installed multiple video projections for Walt Disney’s Imagineering at Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Seas, Euro Disney Paris, Disney World Florida, and Disneyland, Anaheim, Hong Kong, & Shanghai – including such favorite attractions as “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, “The Haunted Mansion”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Peter Pan”, “Space Mountain” rides and many more."

As vocalist he is self-taught, possessing around four octaves and a four notes:E2-B6 As a musician and a singer, he declared he was very much influenced by guitar players like Jimmy Page, Brian May and Eddie Van Halen because he wanted to do with his voice what they did with their guitars.

He is also influenced by rock singers like Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, David Coverdale, Ronnie James Dio and Ian Gillan.

The major part of the lyrics DeFeis writes are mythological, dealing with subjects from especially Greek, Sumerian and Christian mythology. All of them are based on real life in some form or another"

"Brian Yuzna is an American producer, director, and writer. He is best known for his work in the science fiction and horror film genres. Yuzna began his career as a producer for several films by director Stuart Gordon, such as Re-Animator (1985) and From Beyond (1986), before making his directorial debut with the satirical body horror film Society (1989).

He also served as a co-writer for the comedy Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989). Yuzna was the first American filmmaker to adapt a manga, Bio Booster Armor Guyver, into a live-action feature, The Guyver (1991). He has helmed several adaptations of the work of H. P. Lovecraft, and has assisted many first time directors, including Stuart Gordon, Christophe Gans, and Luis De La Madrid, in getting their projects made."

"Richard Howard Band is an American composer of film and television music. He has scored more than 100 films, including From Beyond which won the award for Best Original Soundtrack at the Sitges - Catalan International Film Festival. His score for Re-Animator was lauded by the magazine Music From the Movies, which said, "Band's music is dark and direct, creating an intense and eerie atmosphere, but always with a humorous touch... Surely, Richard Band is one of the most underrated composers in the film business."

By the mid-80's Band was renowned for scoring horror and Sci-Fi films by employing strong, memorable and most often very melodic themes all recorded with orchestra. Films like 'Mutant (1984)', 'The Alchemist (1983)', 'The House on Sorority Row (1983)', 'Troll (1986)' and 'The Day Time Ended (1979)' all feature beautiful and lyrical themes that seem to operate as the antithesis of the genre for which the films were produced. As Band explains in liner notes in some of his soundtrack releases, he believes that "film scores exist to add a third dimension to a two-dimensional medium".

As the son of independent film producer, director and writer Albert Band, Richard and his brother Charles Band pursued their father's ambitions in film. Where Charles became a prolific producer, director and distributor, Richard's music and cinematic talent led him into the realm of film composing. Becoming interested in music while living in Europe, Richard toured with various rock groups between 1965 and 1971 before returning to the US. After studying music formally for several years Richard made his scoring debut, alongside Jerry Goldsmith's son Joel Goldsmith, on Compass Films production of 'Laserblast (1978)'. Richard rapidly moved from electronic to orchestral music, resulting in a number of full-bodied, orchestral thematic soundtracks that gave melodic power to a number of movies several of which Charles produced for Empire Pictures, among them The Day Time Ended (1979), Troll (1986), Zone Troopers (1985), ReAnimator (1985), Prison (1987), Ghoulies (1985) and From Beyond (1986).

He also brought on famed composer Shirley Walker as conductor and co-orchestrator on his score for Ghost Warrior (performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, 1984) as well as Ghoulies (1985). It was for the Universal 3D release of Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983), that Richard composed one of his most epic, and adventurous scores.

Beyond Charles' productions, Richard Band showed his diversity with the comedies Lunch Wagon (1981) and Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype (1980), while writing the chillingly melodic score for the slasher favorite The House on Sorority Row (1983). Richard found new acclaim when he teamed with filmmaker Stuart Gordon for the blackly comic Re-Animator (1985), a soundtrack famed for its tribute to the work of Psycho composer Bernard Herrmann. Band's H.P. Lovecraft-themed collaborations with Gordon include the otherworldly tonalities of From Beyond (1986) and the terrifying vengeance of Castle Freak (1995).

The director and composer also adapted the work of Edgar Allen Poe with darkly religious inquisition for their adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's The Pit and the Pendulum (1991), with Band exploring one of Lovecraft's most terrifying works for director Dan O'Bannon on The Resurrected (1991).

When the direct-to-video label Full Moon Entertainment was launched, Richard would score some of the label's more ambitious productions, including numerous entries in the continuing PuppetMaster franchise, the twisted terror of Demonic Toys (1992) and Shrunken Heads (1994) with Danny Elfman. The children's' comedies Remote (1993), Prehysteria (1993) and the fantasy Dragonworld (1994) were films released through Paramount Pictures.

In the mid 1990's, Richard branched more into television co-scoring the A & E network's documentaries Weapons at War, Most Decorated as well as numerous episodes of Biography and The Civil War Journals. Later in the 90s Band scored multiple episodes of Stargate SG-1 (1997) and Walker, Texas Ranger (1997) His genre notoriety also saw him score three episodes of Masters of Horror, earning him his first Emmy nomination for the Stuart Gordon-directed episode of Dreams in The Witch House (2005).

Richard went on to work with the WB network creating promotional music for most of their prime-time shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek and Smallville amongst others. Band also scored over 200 animated vignettes for Orchestra for the WB's Kids Network.

During the mid 2000, Richard was one among some of the first Hollywood composers to delve into scoring Video Games some of which included Stonekeep, Casper, Waterworld, Star Trek:Judgment Rights, Descent under Mountain, Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus and Clayfighter.

During this period Band continued to score various TV family films and comedies for Paramount such as In the Dog House (2001) My Horrible Year (2002) and Robo-Warriors while still scoring eccentric thrillers for his brother, including Head of the Family (1996), Unlucky Charms (2013), Trophy Heads (2015) and more recently Ravenwolf Towers (2016), a web series for Amazon.

More recently Richard scored the horror/comedy Exorcism@60,000 Feet (2019), Necropolis: Legend and The Deep ones (2020) for director Chad Ferrin.

Now with over 50 soundtracks to his credit, Richard Band's prolific and stylistic work has made him not only one of the most distinctive composers in the realms of horror and science fiction but arguably include comedy, family films and animation. Band's full-blooded talent remains vibrant to this day."

Tom Holland bio:

"Tom Holland is an American director and screenwriter of horror and thriller films. His early writing projects include Class of 1984 and the Robert Bloch- inspired Psycho II, the latter starring Anthony Perkins as the menacing psychopath, Norman Bates.

Tom gained more notoriety, however, as a director. His directorial debut was the popular 1980s Vampire film, Fright Night which, at the time, was said to have been responsible for redefining the sub-genre, influencing later films like The Lost Boys and Near Dark. The film was a box office hit and garnered three Saturn Awards and one Dario Argento Award.

For his next project, Child's Play, Tom again cast Chris Sarandon. The film was a Number One box-office hit in America and a worldwide success, despite controversy over its thematic content. It, like Fright Night has since gathered a cult following amongst horror fans. Tom then went onto direct two films based upon adaptations of Stephen King's novels: The Langoliers and Thinner. He also took a cameo role in the Stephen King miniseries The Stand.

Tom's other projects have included The Incredible Hulk episode 'Another Path', Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories, three episodes of Tales from the Crypt, and the prestigious Masters of Horror anthology. He starred in A Walk in the Spring Rain with Ingrid Bergman.

In 2009 Tom took a starring role in Hatchet II alongside Kane Hodder and Tony Todd."

Jonathan Frakes bio:

"Jonathan Scott Frakes was born in Bellefonte, central Pennsylvania. He is the son of Doris J. (Yingling) and Dr. James R. Frakes, a professor. His parents moved with Jonathan and his younger brother Daniel to Bethlehem in eastern Pennsylvania. There, his father taught English at Lehigh University, where he held the Fairchild chair in American Literature until his passing in 2002. Frakes is of German, and some English, ancestry.

While growing up Jonathan was introduced to jazz by his father and started playing the trombone when he was in fourth grade. As a child Jonathan was always friendly, funny and somewhat of an actor according to a childhood friend. In high school he played in the band and ran track. He graduated from Liberty High in Bethlehem in 1970. The day after he graduated he started classes at Pennsylvania State University, enrolling as a psychology major. The next summer he worked as an usher for the local theater and observed his peers thoroughly enjoying acting. He was motivated to switch his major to theater arts and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1974.

At this point he decided to move to New York City and try to make it as an actor. The roles did not come easily so he had to take side jobs, such as a waiter, a furniture mover (where he injured up his back), and a stint as Captain America for Marvel Comics. Meanwhile he won roles in the Broadway musical "Shenandoah" and on the soap opera The Doctors as Vietnam veteran Tom Carroll from 1977 to 1978. At his agent's urging Jonathan moved to Los Angeles in late 1978 to try his hand at television guest appearances. He guest-starred on several of the big prime-time shows of the time, including Charlie's Angels, Fantasy Island, Barnaby Jones, Quincy, M.E., Highway to Heaven, The Waltons, and The Dukes of Hazzard.

During the 1980s Jonathan landed a starring role in a prime-time soap opera, Bare Essence, which had spun off a successful miniseries of the same name. However the show did not take off with the viewers and was soon canceled. He went back to guest appearances for two more years until he got the part of Stanley Hazard in the Civil War epic North & South: Book 1, North & South. After spending more than six months filming all over the southern United States, he and his co-star, Genie Francis, fell in love (he had met her three years before when they co-starred in Bare Essence). During that time he and Genie didn't have much to do with each other, other than his making fun of her hair, according to her. However three years later they were an item.

In early 1987 Jonathan went to an audition for a new television series at the urging of his soon-to-be wife and her family. After six weeks, and seven auditions, he won the role that would bring him worldwide fame: that of Commander William Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was at this time, he and Genie announced their engagement. They would have to postpone their wedding twice because of his job but were finally married in the first-season hiatus on May 28, 1988. All of his new co-stars attended the wedding, along with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. During the seven years Frakes starred on Star Trek: The Next Generation, he not only acted but discovered that he had a talent for directing. He helmed eight episodes in all and was invited to direct on the Next Generation spin-offs, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

The day after his 42nd birthday, on August 20, his son, Jameson Ivor Frakes, was born. Jameson is named after both his grandfathers, the late James Frakes and the late actor Ivor Francis, Genie's father. During this time Jonathan actually turned down work, preferring to stay at home and raise his son with his wife. For the next two years he did a few guest appearances on television.

In 1996 it was announced that he was to be the director of the next Star Trek film, Star Trek: First Contact. He received critical praise for his work on the film and it became the highest-grossing entry of the franchise to date. He formed a production company, Goepp Circle Productions, named after the street he lived on in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Just two days after his ninth wedding anniversary in 1997, Elizabeth Francis Frakes was born. Sadly just two weeks prior Jonathan's brother, Daniel, passed away from pancreatic cancer. In 1998 he was asked to direct the ninth Star Trek film, Star Trek: Insurrection. Following mixed reviews for this film he continued to direct in movies and television, act in a few non-Star Trek roles, and starred in the tenth Star Trek film, Star Trek: Nemesis."
