01 Jul 2021 | 73. Choosing Full-Time Motherhood Over a Career and Overcoming Resentment with Shannon Kenny Carbonell | 00:41:04
Shannon Kenny Carbonell is a former actress and author of the memoir “All is Not LOST” which is a book for every mom who’s ever felt lost or stuck in that “what’s next for me?” moment, which I think we’ve all gone through at one or many points in our lives. She is also the wife of actor Nestor Carbonell of LOST, Bates Motel, and The Morning Show fame and a mom to a 15 and 19 year old. When her kids were young, Shannon made the hard decision to give up her own acting career in favor of her husband’s career and full-time motherhood. No matter how painful, she knew she was making the better choice for her and her family. Just like the LOST survivors, she had crashed on an island that would test her, heal her, and surround her with the people who would eventually show her the way home. Shannon shares raw and honest stories of her experience and lessons learned from taking a pause on her career, having to rediscover her identity, and filling that void within her. We also talk about relationships, communication, life as an actor, and dealing with resentment. Follow Shannon at

29 Jul 2021 | 77. An Unfiltered Look into the Life of a Bad A** Work-From-Home Mom of 3 with Megan Harper | 00:33:17
Megan Harper is a work-from-home mom of 3 kids who recently launched a marketing agency after a successful career in marketing and product growth. Before kids she was a trained sommelier and worked at some of the top restaurants in NYC. After her son was born she left the restaurant world to work in start-ups and make her name for herself running her funny Instagram account, @girlgonechild_ (formerly @girlgonechildinnyc) which showcases the life of an ex-party girl turned young mom navigating her life in NYC being a working mom and trying to have it all. During the Pandemic Megan relocated her family to Charlotte, NC where she was working-from-home as the Head of Product Growth for Tinybeans and Red Tricycle in between homeschooling, running after a toddler and breastfeeding. After being laid off from her job only a month later, her post on adding her pandemic parenting experience to her resume went viral and led her on the path to launching her own marketing agency so she could work with many companies, not just one. In true Mommy’s on a Call fashion, this episode is filled with kids screaming, husbands walking in, and nursing babies, which is a perfect snapshot of what real work-from-home during a pandemic mom life looked like. Megan and I had a real honest, unfiltered, and unapologetic conversation about the struggles of motherhood and managing a career. Follow Megan at:

Lauren Gregor is the Founder and CEO of Rent-a-Romper, a baby and toddler subscription rental clothing company that offers affordable children’s clothes for rent that are both cute and functional, without adding to our increased landfill waste as a society. Lauren launched Rent-a-Romper literally at the beginning of COVID when everyone was headed into lockdown while simultaneously working full-time for a charter school and facilitating distance learning for her two boys. In this episode we go into the details on how she took her idea from a business card to a real business overnight without any background in subscription e-commerce, lessons she’s learned in the first year, the team she surrounds herself with, and how she structures her day, while still working full-time. 17 Jul 2020 | 16. Finding Calm and Understanding Stress with Parijat Deshpande [Parenting in a Pandemic, Vol. 5] | 00:39:28
After being on bedrest for most of her pregnancy and delivering her first child at 24 weeks and 5 days, which was 15 days longer than expected, Parijat Deshpande used her personal experience to embark on a journey learning and researching all about how the body’s nervous system reacts to stressors, anxiety, and fear associated with a high risk pregnancy. In this episode, I learned so much about how she approaches the stress cycle and how to use neurobiological techniques to help improve your overall mind-body connection. She explains why deep breathing and a lot of common quick fixes aren't the answer to combating stress long-term and why she doesn't believe in "stress management." I think my big takeaway was how to tune in, acknowledge and listen to my body effectively so that I have the tools to properly respond to situations that change my baseline stress level. Her approach is extremely fascinating and can be applied to more than just a high-risk pregnancy, but in any situation when you feel high stress, which as a parent is quite often! Parijat is the leading high-risk pregnancy specialist, somatic stress & trauma professional and speaker and author who guides women to improve their pregnancy complications so they can reduce their risk of preterm birth. Her unique neurobiological approach has served hundreds of women to manage pregnancy complications and reclaim a safety and trust in their bodies that they thought was eroded forever. Parijat is the author of bestselling book Pregnancy Brain: A Mind-Body Approach to Stress Management During a High-Risk Pregnancy. She is also the host of the popular podcast Delivering Miracles®, that discusses the real, raw side of family-building including infertility, loss, high-risk pregnancy, bed rest, prematurity and healing once the baby comes home. I hope this episode today with Denise Duffield-Thomas (aka Denise DT) gives you a little insight into how to have hard and honest conversations in your relationships about money and personal needs, how to build a thriving business while also creating a chill life and how to reframe your own money mindset and instill positive money habits with your children. I brought Denise on the show because there are not a lot of examples out there of moms who are building million dollar companies with super young kids in tow and who are unapologetic about pursuing their dreams and having a ton of fun. Denise DT is a money mentor for the new wave of online entrepreneurs who want to make money and change the world. She helps women charge premium prices, release the fear of money and create First Class lives. Her Money Bootcamp has helped over 6,000 students from all around the world reprogram their money mindset and live an abundant life. 27 Oct 2020 | 29. Redefining the Next Generation of Tiger Moms with TITT Talks | 00:52:41
There are so many different ways to parent. And for many of us that starts with our upbringing and the culture we were raised in. In today's episode, I chat with four Asian-American moms (TCha, Isa, TLo and Chuk), who are the co-hosts of TITT Talks - a podcast about modern women living in a mama world and all moms of kids 5 and under, just like myself. I originally met these ladies years and years ago during undergrad at UCLA and so it was fun to reconnect and talk about our experiences raising multicultural kids in 2020. While I was lucky not to have the stereotypical "tiger mom," there are many traditions and norms in the Asian culture that I'm trying figure out how to navigate now while parenting. And like the TITT Talks moms, we are all trying to do our best to instill qualities of compassion, love and understanding within our children… but sometimes the demanding side comes out. I think my favorite aspect of this episode is hearing the stories of other strong Asian American moms. I think a lot of us were raised to get a good education, work hard, make opportunities for a better life, and raise good kids, but being on a stage or creating a platform for our voice isn’t as common. What these ladies are doing with TITT Talks is empowering and paving the way for other Asian Americans out there to have a voice. Follow the TITT Talks podcast at

Celebrating 3 years of podcasting (and 2 years as the Mommy's on a Call podcast). What started as the Power Mom Minute evolved into Mommy's on a Call. Flash forward 120 episodes, 2 more babies, a global pandemic and THREE years later, Mommy’s on a Call has now reached thousands of listeners in over a dozen countries and is now ranked in the top 2% of podcasts globally. I’m not saying this to brag (although I am pretty proud of that), but more reflecting upon “what if I never launched?” As I reflected back on the last 3 years, I started reflecting upon what I'm struggling with right now and what does now look like in this new season of motherhood. And I want you to be part of this journey. I want to know what are you struggling with right now? What can I help you with? What do you want to learn and hear more about? Because I want to bring that to you. I want to bring interesting guests and content that excites you. I am so proud of the last 3 years of the show and I look forward to many more years to come! 11 Mar 2021 | 48. The Therapeutic Value of Art: A Story of Abuse, Addiction and Perfectionism with Jessica Hughes | 00:52:02
**Please Note: This episode/interview contains portions of content that discuss traumas dealing with abuse, addiction and suicidal thoughts and could be triggering.** Jessica Hughes is a mom of 7 and an incredibly talented artist who had a decades-long career that has taken her from textile designer, to illustrator, art educator, entrepreneur, to her existing endeavor as a professional abstract artist. But of all she is a survivor. A survivor of sexual abuse, substance abuse, multiple forms of addiction including one I just learned from her called “white collar addiction”, and an eating disorder almost all while being a mom to 7 children. From the outside, Jessica was the perfect wife, perfect mom living in an upscale suburban neighborhood with the perfect house. But internally, she was suffering so deeply in many ways. If anyone saw the Meghan Markle interview, it parallels how no matter how put together or perfect someone looks from the outside, you never know what is happening behind closed doors so have compassion and empathy for everyone. It also showcased a very important point that it is so important to not only ask for help but also get the help you need. I am so honored to be able to share her raw and powerful story with you all and hope that her way of using art as an outlet for helping herself and others heal inspires you to look at art as a powerful medium that can bring joy, growth, and self discovery. 20 Oct 2020 | 28. 6 Steps to Increase Energy and Eliminate Energy Vampires To Create More Space and Time in Your Busy Life | 00:22:41
There are so many positive things we can add to our daily life to help improve our overall state of being. However, before you can add things into your life (even good), you need to subtract and create space for that good to grow. Space will allow you to focus on those things that will produce tangible results and awareness around what specific goal or path you should be working on or taking. It’ll help bring light to what area of your life or business you want to focus your energy on and as a bonus you’ll be excited about it! In this episode, I talk about my process for identifying, organizing and eliminating these non-value adding activities, distractions, and mindset viruses that are pulling the energy out of you every day, aka "energy vampires" that are literally sucking the life and energy out of you. ---------- Come join me in my sandbox of life and in this podcast to explore, play and discover something new every single week… because I know you've yelled "Mommy's on a Call" at least once in the last week!!! 🎧 LISTEN: https://link.chtbl.com/MOAC 👩🏻💻 SHOW NOTES: MommysonaCall.com ☕️ JOIN THE FACEBOOK COMMUNITY: The Modern Mama Society - Health & Wellness for Modern Moms ✨ FOLLOW ON IG: @MommysonaCall & @StephanieUchima 🔥 BOOK A RECHARGE MAMA SESSION: http://rechargemama.com 🙋🏻♀️ WEBSITE: https://www.stephanieuchima.com

18 Sep 2019 | 03. Setting Boundaries and Implementing Self Care | 00:17:45
I can't tell you how many times I see moms and women put everyone else's needs (in life and business) in front of their own! They run themselves exhausted by doing everything for everyone else except themselves. That changes now! I believe as an entrepreneur, business owner, mom and wife, there is a fine line between work and home, especially when a lot of times we work from home. From doing the nap time hustle to squeezing in work before the kids wake up and long after they go to bed, I realized that I was trying to get it all done at the expense of my own health and well-being. Which is why today’s episode is all about Boundaries and Self Care because these are two themes that I feel like as a mom we tend to put aside and pretend that it’s not a problem or doesn’t need to exist. If we can just tough it out for a few more years it’ll all get better. But in my opinion it doesn’t. In this episode I dive into my 3 tips for setting boundaries and 3 simple things I do to implement self-care in my daily life so that I keep my self-care meter above zero. ---- For more information, visit www.PowerMomMinute.com/ Connect with me!

Now that we've officially started (distance learning) Kindergarten (aka Zoom Kindergarten), I decided to bring on some of my Mommy Pod to discuss how they're coping with virtual kinder and what they're doing to make it work. Starting Kindergarten off virtually has been an interesting and unique experience, and not necessarily a good one for many reasons. But kids are resilient and in the end, they seem to be doing okay. But are the parents? Not at all. Just like in the spring, the parents are still the ones suffering and for many, at least one parent (in many cases the mom) has to be available at all times. When she saw a need in her local community, she decided opened a brick and mortar ice cream shop (as a side hustle to her law job). However, after having kids she struggled with getting them to eat their veggies whereas they always would eat the ice cream. That is where the idea for Peekaboo Organics was born. Peekaboo makes ice cream with hidden veggies you cannot see or taste. Why? Because nothing feeds our soul quite like ice cream and that's just as important as eating our veggies! 09 Oct 2019 | 06. How to Reclaim Your Identity in Motherhood | 00:23:22
So often I hear moms (especially with young kids) say, "I don't even know who I am anymore" and questioning if their life is going to be anything more than motherhood. I can relate to this as I was one of those moms with a "past life" that just didn't seem to fit anymore after becoming a mom. I know first-hand what it's like to go through a complete identity crisis. For some being a mom is the identity they have been searching for their whole life and for others the identity of being a mom is just part of a bigger puzzle, but an unknown bigger picture. I believe you don’t have to be defined as just one thing: a mom, a career woman, a CEO, a wife, a “insert your title here”. Instead, if you expand who you are and embrace the concept that you can have multiple selves and identities, you can evolve into something bigger and better. At the root of the problem is really uncovering who you are in this new chapter of your life in that moment and how you can evolve into a more awesome you, which can honestly apply to anyone. In this episode I focus on 3 categories to help you on your journey to reclaiming your identity: mindset, action and people. Within each of these categories are a few tips on how to start on your path to rediscovering the amazing new you. ---- Resource mentioned:

07 Aug 2020 | 19. How to Move Forward and Survive the Rest of 2020 | 00:12:42
Having a Baby, Surviving Parenting, Running a Business During the Pandemic In the last 6 months (yes during a Pandemic), I had a baby, homeschooled a preschoolers, ran a business, continued a podcast, ended a 10 year old event planning company, and survived parenting 3 kids while working from home. Today’s guest is Eunice Byun, the CEO and co-founder of Material, a company that celebrates home cooks and their desire for good-looking, high-performing products. But only a few years ago Eunice was working her way up in the retail industry with a successful career at some of the top brand names in NYC. But her passion for design mixed with a love for food and inspired by her Korean-American family background in restaurants led her down a path to starting Material with her co-founder Dave… after she already had her first kid. Eunice is now the mom to two young girls, a five year-old and a 1 year old. I love how Eunice incorporates her eldest into the business and leads by example, showing her daughter that she doesn’t have to conform to any societal norms or parental pressures and that she can pursue whatever she has the passion to do in life. But I hope this also inspires you to also pursue that passion in your life. If you go to sleep thinking about an idea and wake up thinking about that same idea - it might be the sign of something you were destined to pursue. For most moms with babies, you meet another mom at the park or in a mommy and me class and then you form a friendship or start a mom tribe in which you do wine nights or play dates, but it’s rarely the case that a chance encounter because your kids leads to a life changing business venture. However, that was the case for Katya Libin, the co-founder & CEO of HeyMama, a membership community that connects working moms at every stage of life and career. HeyMama has over 3,200+ members (me included) and creates opportunities for their members to bring their whole selves while advancing their careers. Honestly, for me HeyMama has been one of the best communities and investments I have ever made… and trust me, I don’t get any sort of referral or affiliate for this, but because of HeyMama I have met so many incredible working moms, many of which have now been on the podcast and more of them to come. This community that Katya and her co-founder Amri founded back in 2014 has grown into a diverse online and in-real life (when there isn’t a pandemic) community that gives moms the platform to provide each other with support, connection, and collaboration in life and business. In this episode, we talk about life with a blended family, how she includes her daughter in everything, favorite binge worthy TV shows, spiritual work, having a co-founder to tips for entrepreneurs just starting out right now.
