15 Feb 2024 | Ep. 45: Growing Through the Hard Things | 00:34:39
If only we knew that our paths would be smooth and without any pitfalls or challenges... OR What if the pitfalls and challenges are where we find the growth? Jorge Gonzalez, author of Answer the Call, joins me on this episode to talk about how we make it through the challenging times and what fulfillment is all about. I'd love for you to take away from this discussion that it is powerful to listen to your intuition / your faith / your gut, and it does matter who we spend time around and how we lift each other up, and even more importantly, the major growth that happens in life is almost always outside our comfort zones.

Robin S sings, "Words are so easy to say... You've got to show me love!" How do you show love (or appreciation or friendship)? Often we express our love in the ways that we like to receive love. It's so much more powerful and meaningful if we express love in the way that the other person best feels and receives it. And that brings us to Gary Chapman's Five Love Languages:

10 Oct 2023 | Ep. 25: What you didn’t know about your nervous system, weight loss and safety | 00:39:28
You decide to get in shape, or lose (release) weight, or make a life change... and a few weeks into it you get frustrated. It seems as if nothing is changing, and you find yourself falling back into old habits. Why? Your nervous system is signaling to you that it's not safe to make that change. Let's talk about weight loss and safety. Your nervous system is in control and is working from ideas you absorbed when you were a child - about whether exercise is good or is punishment and about how it's ok to look or act. There is a mind-body connection regarding healthy living and we're breaking that down to help you to understand it - and giving some tips for regulating your nervous system as well. 14 May 2024 | Ep. 59: Setting Intentions and Breaking Free From Restrictions | 00:26:08
As you start to experience more mindset transformation, a key practice will be setting your intentions. This could be your intention for the day, for a meeting, for a goal, for your business, for a relationship... so many things. Setting an intention means deciding first how the experience is going to go. Decide BEFORE moving forward, and then you create a scenario where your actions will be more aligned with the results you were hoping for. Intentional living is going to require some self-awareness of subconscious programming that may hold you back. Let's talk about why it's worth it. Setting your intentions first is also going to help you move away from a focus on rules and restrictions. Does what you're doing align with the attention? If so, do it! 15 Oct 2024 | Ep. 81: How to Ask Powerful Questions that Help You Change Your Perspective and Change Your Life | 00:32:17
Perspective is powerful. We all look at the world through a lens of our own experiences and our own core beliefs - about how the world works, our abilities, what's possible, etc. So, how can we change that perspective if we see that we're holding ourselves back or if we'd like to grow and change? We can use powerful questions. Luann Horobin, Executive & Leadership Coach, joins me today to explain what exactly powerful questions are - and why they can help us. If you think about it, you may fall into the same trap I do sometimes in which I'm asking myself, "Why can't I do that?" or "Why doesn't this ever work?" If our brains set out to find the answers to the questions we ask (they do), then asking questions like those is just going to bring us answers about why we CAN'T. Listen in to find out how to ask questions that help us figure out why and how we CAN. Make sure to connect with Luann on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/luannhorobin/. I catch myself regularly being WAY too hard on myself when just playing a friendly game - and in today's episode I'm talking about golf and pickleball, for example. What we speak about and expect is what our brains look for. So, if you are expecting not to be very good at something, your brain is going to be hard at work making sure to find you evidence that that's true! 27 Feb 2024 | Ep. 48: Midlife - Who am I? Worthiness in Midlife | 00:43:07
I feel like I'm disappearing... Who am I?
Midlife can be a time of feeling a little bit lost. The ways that we organized our days and determined our value may be changing. The world may see us differently (can you say ageism?).
No matter what... no matter when... we are worthy. Worthiness is the quality of being good enough. We have value, and we matter.
Worthiness coach Jillie Johnston joins me today to chat about worthiness in midlife, and you will leave this episode with a process you can start doing right now to validate your feelings, figure out what you'd love to hear and say, and move toward joy in your life every day. Awesome.

26 Mar 2024 | Ep. 52: Are you REALLY hungry? | 00:36:24
There are five types of hunger... and four of them are emotional hunger.
Jennifer Dent Brown, Health and Life Coach, joins me today to walk through what hunger feels like and how to recognize the type of hunger you are feeling.
We dive into the idea that no foods are off-limits and you can decide individually what foods give you energy and what foods create sluggishness for you.
We're talking about weight loss drugs and the pitfalls that may happen when we use only those drugs as a solution and we don't address our emotional eating issues.
Eating with intention is key. If you want to eat something, do it! Just know why.

20 Feb 2024 | Ep. 46: Spilling the Tea on Gluten-Free | 00:30:18
Doesn't it feel like everyone either has a strong opinion on gluten or is simply confused about what gluten is and why it's an issue?
Let's clear up the story on gluten this week!
I'm walking you through what gluten is, where it comes from, and how it has changed. We'll talk about celiac disease, gluten allergies and gluten sensitivity. We'll talk about how you can figure out how gluten affects your body (because we're all different). I'll share my story of discovering that gluten makes me sleepy, truly!
The key? Gluten in moderation as part of a whole food-based healthy and balanced way of eating that includes vegetables, protein, healthy fats and healthy carbs might be fine for you. Or, your body may not handle gluten well at all.
The best thing you can do is find out.
Then we'll talk about gluten-free foods and gluten-free alternatives, because they have their place but they aren't necessarily any healthier.
I hope you walk away from this episode with clarity about the mystery of gluten - and knowing how to find out more for yourself. Share this with someone who'd also like to understand!

Truly feeling your feelings that come from your desires and beliefs and your thoughts about your life is powerful. 14 Nov 2023 | Ep. 30: How to Redefine Your Relationship with Money and Wealth - Money Miniseries Week 2 | 00:41:26
Money doesn't grow on trees. Money is the root of all evil. If you have debt, you must be a bad person or irresponsible with money... We hear so many different sayings and views on money as we go through life, and many of these views get saved into our subconscious as beliefs about money. If you believe deep down that money makes people greedy and bad, you can bet that you won't be able to make much money in life. Your brain will protect you from that.
In week 2 of our Money Miniseries, Karen Mullins joins me to talk through money mindset. Last week we learned how to budget, prioritize spending, payoff debt, and more - make sure you've listened to episode 29! This week we'll learn what's underneath it all. What is your relationship with money? Is money actually good or bad? What should we call debt instead of using the word debt (and why doesn't the concept of a mortgage bother us)? Karen and I dive into all of this in a great discussion!
Make sure to connect with Karen on Instagram at @adventuresinawareness, and reach out to her anytime by email at support@karenmullinscoaching.com. This week I'm joined by Cherie Tripp, a Certified Health Coach and Licensed Brain Trainer, and we're talking through sleep and well-being. Cherie explains what the body and brain are doing while we sleep (hint - important things!), and how much sleep is typically ideal. 05 Sep 2023 | Ep. 20: Stay Calm, Stay Informed: Strategies for Political Serenity | 00:36:11
Our world is rife with political rhetoric and arguments over both the facts of a situation and the solutions. If we know that minimizing stress is a significant part of living healthy, how do we manage our stress while being informed politically? How do we keep our blood pressures low and avoid sticking our heads in the sand about major issues in the world? My guest today is Laura Vaught, who leads the Federal Affairs office for a major energy company and has had many years of experience on Capitol Hill as well. I'm asking Laura how we can be informed, take an interest... and not drive ourselves nuts. We talk about:

Processing emotions is difficult stuff - and it's really important for our mental and physical health. We know that we shouldn't ignore our feelings or stuff them down so we forget about them, but what can we do otherwise? Here's where EFT Tapping helps me. Sometimes we hit a wall; we hit burnout. It seems as if we don't have any options or choices about our job or our life style or our day-to-day lives.
We do have choices. There is a way to recover from burnout.
Sita McKee, Nurse and Boldness Coach, joins me today to talk about the steps to take as we move from burnout to living boldly and without as much fear.
What are those steps? Social connections, a social support network, meditation, physical activity and care of our bodies, and faith or coaching. These are powerful ways to move forward, minimize the fear, and create something amazing in your life. Mindset is truly the key.

11 Jul 2023 | Ep. 12: The two principles of style that you need to know now | 00:29:51
Feeling good - confident - in what we wear and in our appearance matters. Style helps us to feel empowered, put together, confident, and positive. Emotion is the most powerful element to mindset and success and so feeling good is a powerful thing. Style also changes how others perceive us. (Remember the adage, "dress for the job you want?") Amanda Gauger joins me this week to give us some basic principles for dressing our bodies to advantage. We're learning about body architecture and how to determine our body shape. We'll hear some examples of ways we can BALANCE our bodies with style. We'll also talk about REPETITION and how this is a principle that can help us make clothing decisions. Make sure to follow and connect with Amanda at @bourbonbarbie on Instagram. Grab a screen shot as you're listening and share it on your social media so that more of us can learn style principles that help us to feel good when we go out into the world. We all want to sleep through the night, or even fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer, or even be able to get back to sleep easily when we wake up, right? Cherie Tripp joined me for episode 22 of OMG Teach Me (listen here) and gave some great tips for sleep hygiene and healthy sleep. After that episode, questions came up about hunger at night. What should we do if we wake up hungry? Well, there's an easy answer: hydrate. Listen in for a listener's story as she tried (and then stopped trying) better hydration during the day to help her sleep at night. 26 Sep 2023 | Ep. 23: Giggle Your Way to a Better Life: Embracing Authenticity and Laughter | 00:39:56
I'm fairly sure none of us had a laughter class in school, and what a shame because there are laughter benefits that affect our mood, hormones, health, and relationships in a powerful way. Sara Alepin and Kristina Kury from the Laughing with Gingers podcast join me today to talk (and giggle) about all things laughter! We're spending some time on the power of laughter, being your authentic self, laughing for emotional well-being, and making sure to be the leading character in your own life. Did you know that laughter is good for stress reduction and gives us an immune system boost? Or that gut deep laughter may actually help us release fat?! Listen in! And if you aren't laughing at the end of this episode, I'll be surprised. ;)

09 Apr 2024 | Ep. 54: How and Why to Rest Your Brain and Rest Your Body | 00:37:39
Rest. It's a popular topic today, especially in a world where we are often overwhelmed and overstimulated with work, with environmental stimuli, with people (or people-ing as my friend likes to say).
Cherry Poon-Crowie joins me today to share with us what the seven types of rest are and why they make a powerful difference in our bodies, our emotions, and our mental state.
We know we need to rest, but what if laying on the couch watching Netflix is not actually the rest our bodies need?
We may need sensory rest, physical rest, emotional rest, social rest, mental rest, creative rest or spiritual rest. Walk through these types of rest with us and choose your top 3 that will be powerful in your life.
And Cherry gives some great advice for helping people who are going through grief or trauma or major life events like a new baby.
Check these out... If you love the idea of noise-cancelling earplugs that allow you some sensory and social rest like Cherry mentioned, check out Loop on Amazon. 06 Feb 2024 | Ep. 42: FOMO - What if they're talking about me? | 00:22:32
Have you ever felt like you are left out of the cool group? Wondered if that group in the other room was talking and laughing about you? Felt silly because you thought so?
Let's talk about what to do. First of all, most people are focused on ourselves, not on anyone else. And even if they are talking about you, it's none of your business unless they want to talk directly to you about it.
I'm sharing two concepts that help me through situations when I feel like the dorky kid again who worried that she didn't fit in. Assume the positive, build up your mindset and self-confidence, and let's give them something to talk about! ;)
