Fresh Pineapple is AMAZING!  I've always loved it, for as long as I can remember...but, I always thought the effort I had to put forth to cut it fresh maybe wasn't worth it, so I went for the canned option.  But....I just didn't KNOW how easy it was to cut a fresh pineapple.  I assumed it would be difficult and not worth it.  I opted to take the short cut...and I was NEVER as satisfied.  

Our relationship to God can be very similar.  We can assume that we know the old stories.  We can assume that because we grew up in the church that a trickle down effect would happen and we'd just instantly be blessed and glorified because we were an "old" child of God.  Wrong.  Its effort.  God rewards those who plug in, who listen, who seek out his voice.  We have to quit taking short cuts or the easy way out.  We have to quit being OKAY with canned Pineapple.  

And...how does this pertain to business?  The same way!  We watch the guru's.  We listen to the professionals.  We watch the Social Media influencers.  We think we know the "secrets".  But...then when it comes to plugging into our businesses, or doing what they do, or knowing what they know, or being able to master effective marketing...well...we know nothing.  We haven't plugged in actually.  We haven't invested time and money into coaching.  We haven't researched.  We haven't taken courses or classes, or met one on one with people who are here to solve our problems.  Why?  We like short cuts.  We are okay with canned Pineapple.  

We have to get over this.  We have to address the elephant in the room and that is EFFORT.  What have you done this week or this month or this year to elevate your business to a higher level?  What devotional are you doing daily to improve your relationship with God and seek his purpose for your life?  There is a reason so many are finding success in their businesses and it has NOTHING to do with luck.  It has everything do with with effort and time and money and drive.  This is our role, as business owners.  To plug in and DO. THE. WORK.  Quit taking short cuts.  Quit skimming over the noise on social media thinking you know all of the answers.  Quit being okay with Canned Pineapple.

Its never been a secret, I struggle on a major level with anxiety.  Social and mental.  I've had periods of my life where depression was a real and very scary thing.  I'm a self proclaimed, class A introvert and...I'm okay with it.  It part of who I am now.

I've been trying to get my business off of social media for a while now.  I've been exploring a lot of techniques outside of social media that make sense and I can still do while maintaining my freedom and home based business.  Listen, I'm a work-from-home-mom too!  I want to build my own schedule and pay myself.  So, I try to work as hard as I can at getting my brand and my name out in front of my target audience.  Its been a work in progress.  

I discovered that having a website isn't necessary, but it SURE helps and can open up doors for other outlets that I never knew possible.  It doesn't matter if you're a conventional brick and mortar business, or online, or network marketing company or Multi-level marketing...a website can increase your visibility and create a platform (ran by you, rather than someone controlling you!) that you can showcase your talents and services and products straight to your target audience.  It really is a hub for your brand!

Its hard to focus our businesses on anything other than our product or service.  We need to sell in order to make money, so why wouldn't we try to sell, sell, sell to everyone we see or meet.  

People don't buy products from anyone, they buy from people they trust!!

I hear from women (especially) all of the time about their support system being very negative.  Whether its their spouse, or friends, or parents or whoever.  Its a REAL, painful thing.  We want everyone to see our vision and offer up hands of support and belief.  But...the reality is, some just can see the big picture like we do.  Maybe they have seen such loss, or failure, or are unhappy THEMSELVES and just can't see past your success or your dreams.  They are focused on their own.  

Today, I talk to my husband, my BIGGEST supporter.  I don't talk to him because I want to showcase my support system, but rather, because I want to question what he think HIS role is as the head of my support team.  He's so good about picking up pieces that I take for granted, because he's my husband....but, I've come to realize that that is part of his support plan.  He doesn't know how to help me in my business all of the time, so he picks up the broken spots at home, where he can.  I hope that you can take his words and have the conversations that are needed, with your support teams...no matter who they are to you.  

I think that if you have a negative support, that this is exactly what you need to hear today!  My husband isn't a talker and I get him (eventually :) ) to open up about his feelings on support, negative support and what others should do to make sure they are keeping positive people around them!  See you inside...

One thing I've learned over the years, being a business owner, is I'm the most overwhelmed when I feel like I'm spinning in all different directions.   Life is so busy, and we can't possibly feel "on top of things" if we have no structure in our day or our week.  

I've created a system of time blocking that makes complete sense for a busy mom, wife and business owner.  I help you create boxes, talk about which to use first and why, and then I EVEN help you find time to bring back time for things YOU love, like gardening, cooking, reading, even a bubble bath!!  And date night?  What if you could have that again?!?  We find time for it all.

I had some time to think and reflect this week.  (p.s.  sorry about the audio in this episode, its not so easy to record on the run without my appropriate gear...but still, 1000% worth it!)  This week I want to tear into 10 lessons that I've learned or understood better in my 40 years.

Sometimes life can get crazy.  We feel all jumbled inside and aren't sure where to turn or what to start next.  So we don't.  We freeze and quit taking action.  We feel like we are all over the place, I even joke that I have "ADD brain today".  

I've been doing a lot of research into ADHA VS Multi-passionate people, as I've always thought of it negatively and I wondered ways that I could overcome this and "fix" myself and help others.  But...when researching, I found that I was a bit wrong.  Being multi-passionate should be embraced.  It means that those of us who feel this way, are actually a bit unique and should give ourselves a bit of grace.

Its so easy these days to feel unmotivated and bogged down with the heaviness going on in the world.  We just want to hibernate.  Life, business, family, friends, work, all of it, its too much to get through sometimes.  

We still have plans and dreams and wishes, but they become distant pipe dreams that we know we won't ever accomplish. 

But, what if we could?  

Sometimes, we take big goals and dreams and think about tackling them, but that's when it becomes heavy on our minds and we quickly become overwhelmed.  With everything we are doing and taking on now, there isn't any way we could take on another goal.  But, what would breaking down that bigger goal, into smaller, attainable, 6-month goals do for you?  What if you could put the pieces together at even 1 month and start building that framework for the long term dream.

We all want the same thing!  Sales and Income!

Failure is so scary.   Those "what if's" start creeping in from all over and they overtake our thoughts and make us quit trying.  We put unrealistic time frames on ourselves and feel pressured to succeed.

I've been talking so much about the hold that social media has on us as business owners.  Network marketers especially, are led to believe that they can ONLY thrive and survive on social media.  But...I've come to realize I can run these platforms on my laptop, AS A TOOL.  I don't need to have them on my phone 24/7 controlling my life and crossing my boundaries.  

But what about my businesses, you say??  I know, I'm anxious to see what happens there too.  Will they crumble?  Will my engagement fall, because I'm not available at ANY given time to comment or cultivate a relationship?  Or, will I have more time to focus on things that matter in my business, helping my marketing and knowledge of new techniques, thrive?  Its a mystery.

As women, we struggle to feel needed.  Especially in midlife.  The kids are grown, the "mom responsibilities" are lifting, the house is quieter (and cleaner!) and we want to contribute to retirement and the life we want to live with our spouse.

As business owners we forget that we wear a lot of hats.  We don't want to all of the time, but its imperative that we do!  We need to know a little bit about every single avenue of our businesses and oftentimes we get in a routine of doing the bare minimum.

In my opinion, a website is necessary for your business. Why?  

Well...we are going to talk about it at length today.  Simply put.  SEO and keywords.  

Your audience...you know...the people that you are trying to talk to.  The ones you can actually help.  The ones who are going through what you've already been through.  You need to target them, using keywords.  

I've become very passionate about getting the majority of my business off of social media.  It's grabbed ahold of me and has become an addiction.  I have too much life to live and too many people to help to sit on social media and get in the "scroll hole" every. single. day.  Ugh.
