We live in a fast-paced world where it's easy to get caught up in the chaos of everyday life. But taking a moment to acknowledge how far we've come can be truly transformational.

Meal planning is not just about organizing your week's dinners; it's about recognizing your growth, finding gratitude for what you have achieved, and paving the way for even greater success. So, let's dive into this incredible journey of self-reflection and celebration through meal planning!

As we journey through life, it's important to take a step back and acknowledge the progress we've made so far. By incorporating meal planning into our lives, we not only nourish our bodies but also create space for mindful reflection and celebration.

Meal planning is like having a blueprint for success.

Not only does meal planning foster physical well-being, but it also has a profound effect on our mental and emotional health.

One of the beautiful things about meal planning is that it allows us to see how far we've come. It's a tangible reminder of the progress we've made in our health and well-being journey.

Meal planning also allows us to celebrate the small wins along our journey.

So, my beautiful friends, as you sit down to plan your meals, take a moment to reflect on the progress you've made. Celebrate the growth, embrace the challenges, and honor the person you are becoming. You are amazing, and your meal planning is a testament to your strength and resilience.

Reflecting on our accomplishments allows us to see how far we've come and appreciate the journey.

Meal planning can also be a time for self-discovery.

25 Aug 2024Episode 86 Weekly Meal Plan and Bonsu Labour Day Long Weekend Menu00:07:22

Hey, hey beautiful mama!

Can you believe it? The end of summer is sneaking up on us, and I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling a mix of “finally, some structure!” and “where did the time go?” As we bid farewell to lazy beach days, endless popsicles, and the sweet, sweet chaos that is summer, it’s time to start thinking about getting back into the swing of things with school, routines, and (dare I say it?) meal planning. But don’t worry, we’re wrapping up summer with a bang and making sure you’re all set for the Labour Day long weekend.

End music

Let’s dive into a week of family-friendly meals that celebrate the best of summer, with a little bonus at the end to help you make the most of the upcoming long weekend!

Monday-  BBQ Chicken Skewers with Grilled Veggies

Tuesday- Taco Tuesday—Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa

Wednesday- Summer Pasta Salad with Grilled Sausage

Thursday-  Instant Pot Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Coleslaw

Friday- Pizza Night—Homemade Pizzas on the Grill

Saturday-  Grilled Shrimp and Veggie Foil Packets

Sunday- Family-Style BBQ Feast

Let’s wrap up the week with a bang—a full-on BBQ feast! Think burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and a big salad to share

Bonus Labour Day Long Weekend Menu

**Bonus Labour Day Menu:**

And because I couldn’t let you face Labour Day without a little extra help, here’s a bonus menu to keep the celebrations going strong and help you plan ahead for next week:

- **Grilled Corn and Avocado Salad:** Fresh grilled corn tossed with creamy avocado, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and a zesty lime dressing. This salad is vibrant, refreshing, and pairs perfectly with those sticky drumsticks.

03 Jan 2024Episode 19 what Weight Management and Meal Planning Have In Common00:15:46

Title: What Weight Management and Meal Planning Have In Common

Description: Are you ready to nourish your body and soul? Today, we're going to dive deep into the connection between weight management and meal planning. It's time to discover the empowering secret that lies within these two powerful practices. So, grab a cup of tea, sit back, and let's explore how taking control of your plate can lead to taking control of your life.

Have you ever wondered why successful weight management and effective meal planning go hand in hand? When we embrace meal planning, we gain control over our nutrition and are more likely to make healthier choices. And just like weight management, it requires dedication, commitment, and consistent effort. Let's dig deeper and uncover the similarities between the two.

Summary:

The Power of Mindset in Weight Management

Have you ever noticed that the most successful weight managers also tend to be excellent meal planners? It's no coincidence! In fact, weight management and meal planning have a lot more in common than you may think. Both require a solid mindset, discipline, and a long-term approach. So why not adopt the same strategies that successful meal planners use for your weight management journey?

  • The first step in successful weight management is changing your mindset.
  • Next, let's talk about discipline. Successful meal planners are disciplined when it comes to sticking to their plan
  • Another important aspect of successful weight management is self-awareness

Nourishing Your Body, Nourishing Your Soul

  • When you plan your meals, you choose foods that nourish your body and provide the essential nutrients it needs.

Building a Supportive Community

  • In both meal planning and weight management, surrounding yourself with a supportive community can make a world of difference

Little recap:

  • Assess your current eating habits and identify areas for improvement.
  • Educate yourself about balanced nutrition and the importance of portion control.
  • Create a meal planning system that works for you and suits your lifestyle.
  • Choose nutrient-dense foods and develop a repertoire of healthy and delicious recipes.
  • Practice mindful eating techniques to enhance your awareness of hunger and fullness cues.
  • Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine to support weight management.
  • Here's some food for thought:
  • Meal planning is like setting a roadmap for your weight management journey.
  • Weight management is about creating a healthy lifestyle, not just about the number on the scale.
  • Prep your meals and snacks in advance to stay on track with your weight management goals.

Remember, my friends, weight management and meal planning have more in common than meets the eye. They both require dedication, consistency, and striving for balance in our lives.

By understanding these connections, we can create a solid foundation for a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life. So, let's commit to taking care of ourselves by managing our weight and planning delicious, nutritious meals together!

07 Nov 2023Episode # 2: The 5 Meal Method: Quick and Healthy Meals In Under 30 Minutes Per Week00:15:02

Description:

Hey, beautiful Mama’s! Are you ready to reclaim your time and energy? As someone who understands the juggling act of being a working mom, I know that meal planning can be a real game-changer. It's all about finding simple strategies to save time, reduce stress, and ensure your family enjoys delicious meals without breaking a sweat. So, buckle up and get ready to save some time and energy in the kitchen

Summary:

By taking the time to plan out our meals in advance, we can save time, energy, and stress while still preparing quick, healthy and delicious meals for our families.

One of the main benefits of meal planning is that it allows us to take control of our schedule

Meal planning also helps us avoid the temptation of ordering takeout or grabbing fast food on our way home. By having a well-thought-out plan, we are more likely to stick to healthier options and avoid the pitfalls of convenience foods.

Not only does meal planning save time, but it also saves energy.

By having a meal plan in place, we eliminate the mental strain of trying to come up with new meal ideas on the spot

Meal planning can help reduce the physical demands of cooking by allowing us to prepare meals in advance and freeze them for later use

So here are some Tips for Efficient Meal Planning

Step #1. Set aside dedicated time for meal planning: It's essential to allocate a specific time in our week to sit down and plan out our meals.

Step #2. Involve the whole family: Encourage involvement from the entire family when it comes to meal planning. Ask for their input on favorite dishes or ingredients they would like to try.

Step #3. Keep a well-stocked pantry and freezer: Maintaining a well-stocked pantry and freezer is key to efficient meal planning.

Step #4. Batch cook and freeze: One powerful strategy for saving time and energy is batch cooking. By preparing large quantities of a particular dish (like spaghetti sauce), we can portion it into individual servings and freeze them for later use. This way, we always have a homemade meal ready to go, even on the busiest days.

Step #5. Make it fun: Meal planning doesn't have to be a tedious chore; it can be a fun and creative

So Let’s Embrace the Rewards of Meal Planning

Like…

  • Less complaining at the dinner table, because you have Considered  your family's preferences and dietary needs when choosing recipes
  • A grocery list based on your meal plan to minimize waste and save money
  • Prepared ingredients in advance to streamline the cooking process and help you have healthier choices
  • Leftovers for lunch so you can reduce that “what am I having for lunch” decision or give you another homemade meal on another busy night throughout the week
  • And the ability to multi-task and Take advantage of time-saving kitchen tools and appliances like the instant pot or slow cooker to make cooking and prepping easier

And lastly ’ll leave you with a little food for thought…

05 Jun 2024Episode 63 The Freezer is Your Friend: How to Embrace the Art of Freezing Meals for Those’Just Can’t Even Days’00:08:58

**Why Your Freezer is Your Best Friend:**

Let’s face it, some days are just a whirlwind, aren't they? Between school runs, work deadlines, and that impromptu science project your kiddo "forgot" to mention, cooking is the last thing on your mind. This is where your freezer steps in, like the superhero we didn't know we needed. Freezing meals in advance is not just about saving time; it's about preserving your peace of mind. Imagine always being just one "defrost" away from a delicious, homemade meal. Dreamy, right?

In this episode we're diving into one of my favorite life-saving strategies: using our freezers! Yes, you heard right. That chilly box isn't just for ice cream and forgotten veggies; it's your secret weapon for those days when the idea of cooking from scratch sounds as appealing as a root canal.

Hope this episode blesses and inspires you!

11 Feb 2024Episode 30 Weekly Meal Plan and Planning From Your Pantry, Fridge, Freezer00:07:35

Title: Weekly Meal Plan and Planning From Your Pantry, Fridge and Freezer

Description: All too often, I feel we start meal planning sometimes a little bit backwards LOL! We pick our recipes and then we buy the ingredients and then we make those recipes, right?

What if for a moment, we reversed engineered meal planning Here's what I mean…. What if instead of picking recipes first we took an inventory of what we had and worked from there?

Not only will this feel so good, and it will help eliminate food waste, and stress. I bet that it will make it a little bit easier, and it might even lower your grocery bill this week, as you probably already have a lot of the things in your fridge, freezer and pantry.

And to help you get started, I have a free inventory workbook with templates to take inventory of your fridge, freezer, and pantry that you can download for free at bit.ly/busy Mama meal planning and you can start taking inventory of what you have and then create a list so you always know what you have on hand, and what you need.

Weekly Meal Plan:

Monday- chicken parmesan, with pasta, and green beans

Tuesday- shepherd's pie

Wednesday- sheet pan fajitas

Thursday- beef and broccoli on rice

Friday-breakfast for supper-Crepes

Saturday-chicken nuggets and fries

Sunday-Wendy’s Chili

Instant pot hacks: Make your rice in the instant pot. I cup rice in 2 cups of water.  Put on high for 3 minutes and natural release for 10.  Will give you fluffy rice

I challenge yourself this week to reverse engineer your meal planning and start by working with what you already have. It may just  simplify your life and leave you feeling pleasantly surprised!

Other tips to save time and energy:

  • Carve out time to prep and plan
  • Double batch where you can. Ie. double mashed potatoes, rice and ground beef
  •  Pantry fridge, freezer shop and use what you have
  • Didn’t make all your meals you planned-no biggie, make them this week
  •  Let your gadgets do the hard work for you
  •  Multi-task where you can
  • What are a couple simple things you can prep for breakfast, lunch even dinner
  • Keep a sink of soapy water to wash and rinse as you go-saves time on clean up

28 Feb 2024Episode 35 Conquering Mealtime Mayham: Simple Strategies for Picky Eaters00:08:37

Conquering Mealtime Mayhem Simple Strategies for Picky Eaters

Description:

Hey there, beautiful mamas! Welcome back to "Meal Planning for Busy Moms." Today, we’re diving into a topic that I know all too well - navigating the mealtime battlefield with picky eaters. Oh boy, it’s a challenge that can test the patience of a saint, but don’t you worry. Grab a cup of your favorite coffee, and let’s tackle this together, shall we? By the end of this episode, you’ll have a handful of strategies, examples, and even some kid-friendly recipes in your arsenal. And hey, don't forget to book your free one-on-one meal planning coffee chat with me afterwards. I’d love to help you personalize these tactics to your family’s taste!

Alright, let's get into the nitty-gritty, the tactical steps to conquering meal planning for those picky eaters:

  1. Involve Them in Planning
  2. Get Creative with Presentation
  3. Hidden Veggies
  4. . Routine is Key
  5. Don't Force It

Ok, now, for some recipes that have been absolute lifesavers in my home:

  1. Hidden Veggie Tomato Sauce

This one’s a classic and a great base for pasta, pizza, and even soups. Simply sauté whatever veggies you have on hand – think carrots, zucchini, spinach – and blend them into your tomato sauce. The kiddos get a nutrient boost without even knowing it.

  1. Cheesy Cauliflower Nuggets

Yes, you heard that right. Cauliflower, disguised as something delightful! Mix finely grated cauliflower with cheese, breadcrumbs, and an egg, then shape into little nuggets and bake. Serve with your child's favorite dip, and watch them disappear.

  1. Fruit Smoothie Popsicles

Smoothies are fantastic, but have you tried turning them into popsicles? Blend up some yogurt, fruit, and a bit of honey, then freeze in popsicle molds. It’s like dessert, but way healthier.

So, beautiful mama, I hope this episode has armed you with a few new strategies (and recipes) to try with your picky eaters. Remember, you're not alone in this. We're in the trenches together, and hey, it’s going to be okay.

And if you feel like you could use a bit more guidance or just want to share your battle stories and victories, I’m here for you. Book your free one-on-one meal planning coffee chat with me. Let's make meal planning fun, personalized, and, most importantly, stress-free. You can go to bit.ly/busymamamealplanning find all the details in the show notes.
