29 May 2024 | The Big Show at the Champions Cup Final | 00:42:39
It’s the big one, the pinnacle of club rugby, two of the most illustrious sides to have graced the competition, Toulouse and Leinster slugging it out for their shot at immortality. Perhaps just as importantly Ryan, Max and Marc took their shot at hospitality immortality as they snagged prime seats at the final. The boys mix it with the stars on a glorious day and even manage to bring you some of the pod! Let the lads take you to the heart of a pulsating final, they live it, they love it, they breathe it (they drink it)...and Max commentates it...in his own unique way! Max gets asked to take his top off by just about every single person, Ryan gets pied off by Wayne Barnes and Marc is rescued from inside a rubbish bin. Oh and did we tell you we love Smaug? 0:00 - Intro 3:21 - Max leads us through the end of the game, with his live reactions 13:15 - Post-game reaction 15:03 - a quick embrace with Smaug himself (Blair Kinghorn) 15:32 - Back to studio for post-day...and night....analysis Hosted on Acast. 31 May 2024 | PARTY LIKE A KING(HORN) - Bonus Ep with a European Champion! | 00:27:50
How Toulouse celebrated their Champions Cup Win with Blair Kinghorn! From riding a zebra at Tottenham Hotspur stadium, to Champagne goggles with Antoine DuPont, the scenes on arrival at Toulouse airport and the non stop partying since, Smaug breaks down the greatest celebrations of his life. He joins the boys from the lilo in his pool at his house in Toulouse wearing just a European Cup winners medal while his neighbour Jack Willis watches from over the fence. We hear all about the celebrations, the partying, what the management had planned for them and whether there’s still some partying to be done. We also hear about the game…. What was going through their minds when Leinster lined up a drop goal seconds before the end of the 80…. what makes Antoine DuPont so superhuman and what exactly goes on in Smaugs mind? Blair also takes us through the chats with Thomas Ramos around who would take the pressure kicks, and the not nearly discussed enough cover tackle on Dan Sheehan. He’s a hero, he’ll never have to buy a drink in Toulouse ever again…. Ladies and Gentlemen… Blair Kinghorn 👑 Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
03 Jun 2024 | The Prem's Finnest - Russell and Smith guide their sides to the final | 00:56:12
The boys are back into the league chats with Prem semi finals to discuss and a final round of the URC regular season to dissect. Ryan as usual was shameless in hitting up his old pal Finn Russell and his new pal Fin Smith for an exclusive chat, which will come, depending on who wins on Saturday at Twickenham. Read between the lines it was a straight no for this week although why Fin Smith was unavailable is rather amusing! The URC is into the business end with the last 8 decided. Toby Booth’s Ospreys squeezing into the mix much to the delight of the boys. It’s safe to say that Ryan has delivered his albatross predictions so Glasgow might be in trouble. In other news, could all the South African fans hammering Max for saying yes to Steve Kitshoff’s tops off challenge (that Kitsy instigated)….. keep going on the viral post...It’s funny! 😂 Hosted on Acast. 12 Jun 2024 | PREMIERSHIP FINAL REVIEW; Ted Talks vs Saints Stags…. Ted Hill, Rory Hutchinson, Lewis Ludlam and The Matavesi Brothers | 01:00:07
It’s an absolute bumper show filled with an A List cast where we get both sides of the story from a truly engrossing Premiership Final. Bath’s back row bulldozer Ted Hill joins the boys to take them through what was a sensational performance from his team who came so close to taking the title. What were the messages directly after the red card? How has Beno taken the defeat and above all did they get to The Ship? Ted also talks all things England, what Finn Russell has brought to the club and his Premiership Team of the Season (which is very hard to argue against) Meanwhile the Saints are still on the smash and they’re in Benidorm (of all places) for Joel Matavesi’s stag…. Rory Hutchinson takes the lads into the heart of the action as the party seems to be ongoing…see how many of the Saints boys you can spot. Lots of questions to be asked…not many answers given... which Matavesi brother is in his budgie smugglers, why is Lewis Ludlam refusing to take off his top and who exactly is the best National 2 player? In other news Max is back from South Korea having appeared to eat food that is very much still alive and Ryan didn’t mention golf, which is a relief Hosted on Acast. 18 Jun 2024 | Sione Tuipulotu - The Warrior of Thomond Park | 01:10:25
We’re delighted to be joined by arguably one of the most destructive, powerful and consistent centres (nailed on 🦁 for 🇦🇺 in our humble biased opinion) in world rugby in the shape of Sione Tuipulotu. He takes us into the heart of the battle of Thomond Park, the feeling he had about what was going to happen and why the boys didn’t actually really celebrate an epic victory over the defending champions, Munster. Sione also corroborates a lot of Ryan’s stories around getting in hot water with Munster fans (we love our Irish viewers, so please don’t listen to Ryan, he’s a weirdo with an Irish chip on his shoulder) Apparently there was a lot of chat flying around on and off the pitch which Nonz prefers! Reminds him of his under 15 days! In other news Sione’s brother, Mosese, is moving to Scotland and in his words “Scar” is coming for him 😂 as he’s joining the dark side (Edinburgh….) Max meanwhile is back from Ed Holmes’s stag do in Marbella where they collided with Gareth Anscombe, Ellis Jenkins and more of the Welsh boys who were also on a stag. Ryan survived Munster and is happy to talk about the Bulldozing Bulls beating a stacked Leinster side. Are they the unluckiest team on earth or is there more to it? Max and Ryan take us through that absolute powerhouse of a Bulls pack and just how dangerous they’ll be at home to Glasgow. We look ahead to the summer tests and some spectacularly tasty ties to tuck into…. Springboks vs Ireland anyone?!? Oh and most importantly we finally get round to answering some of your questions! Keep them coming in! 0:00 - Intro - Ryan's meeting his fans in Ireland 07:27 - Max in Marbella - 'When Stags collide'! 09:52 - Sione Tuipulotu joins us from the airport 33:52 - A (genuine!) tribute to our Simon Zebo 35:41 - Bulls v Leinster - are Leinster the unluckiest team in rugby? 46:37 - Looking ahead to the final and predictions 50:29 - Fan Questions...finally answered 01:02:48 - Looking ahead to the Summer Internationals 01:07:07 - South Africa vs Ireland - the one that means the most! 21 Jun 2024 | Zach Mercer + Jonathan Joseph. It’s The Ultimate Barbarians Party! | 00:52:49
We are really going up in the world…. It’s a very special episode of Maul or Nothing as we head to our favourite luxury hotel, the Mandarin Oriental, to welcome Baba’s boys Jonathan Joseph and Zach Mercer to our suite to sip the finest champagne in the world in the shape of Pol Roger. It was the tipple of Sir Winston Churchill don’t you know…. so we enjoy some lovely drops of that while discussing all things code. How has the France experience gone at Biarritz for JJ and how does it compare to Zach’s stunning time at Montpellier? What are Zach’s England aspirations as he continues to put in world class performances? How big has the Barbarians party actually been? Perhaps most importantly…. As friends and former teammates. .. How much can they take the piss out of Max Lahiff in an hour??? All questions answered…. It’s a cracker! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
26 Jun 2024 | URC GRAND FINAL CHAMPIONS - Glasgow Warriors with Huw Jones | 01:05:08
It’s actually happened…. Can you believe it… Glasgow Warriors are URC champions. They beat the Bulls and the altitude to give Scottish rugby one of its most crowning moments. OBVIOUSLY Ryan was there as a one man hype machine, he’s in the stand with Steve Kitshoff, he’s among the fans, he’s in the winning dressing room, he’s on their bus and he’s absolutely broken on his way home. (You’ll never guess the British and Irish Lions star to his left on his flight home) We are blessed to have a very dusty Huw Jones, wearing his champions cap, take us through all the emotions of the match. The feeling going into it, how they reacted to going 13-0 down in an arena full to the brim with Bulls fans. He then takes us through the celebrations and how Klingon Wilson went full kit on them. There’s also a rather sobering flight home, before they’re back on it and the party goes again. The Maul or Nothing team take you into the heart of an enthralling final and celebrations to match. Enjoy! 0:00 - Ryan's ultimate weekend of punditry & Celebrations! 9:49 - Ryan's perfect punditry predictions 12:50 - Max has been to a Work Colleague's wedding! 15:18 - Japan vs England 20:27 - South Africa vs Wales - the Baba's curtain-raiser 23:00 - Does all of South Africa have gout? 25:10 - Baba's vs Fiji 30:20 - Sam Whitelock tribute 34:00 - Where's the easiest place to hide on a rugby field? 36:17 - URC CHAMPION Huw 'Shuggy' Jones joins us! 43:55 - Playing at altitude 51:40 - Jake White's ref comments Hosted on Acast. 01 Jul 2024 | Scott Sio - Barbarians + Australia’s State of the Union | 00:42:38
We’re delighted to be joined this week by the Wallabies and Exeter and Barbarians Star Scott Sio. He takes the boys through a fun filled time with the Baba’s, how he’s played against Sam Whitelock his whole life and in a funny twist of fate lines up alongside him for Sam’s final match. We go through his Wallabies career and aspirations (Joe Schmidt give him a bell!!!) and that he’d love to put on the Aussie jersey once more. He also walks us through what’s been happening to rugby union in Australia and how to bring back some of its shine. The Eddie Jones project is also put under the microscope and how different life has been after a decade at the brumbies to switching locations to Devon. Speaking of the brumbies, remember when they beat the Lions in 2013…. Scott does! And he tells us all about that wonderful day Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We hear all about Peni’s antics when Ryan took him under his wing at Glasgow. The smile, the laugh, the stories…. These Matuwalus really are the most magnetic people in the world of rugby and we love them! Frank is hot property but wants to see Fijian Drua win Super Rugby before moving on…. Will it happen? 24 Jul 2024 | The Big Summer Test Round Up | 00:54:52
We finally have everyone back and ready to dissect a fascinating summer of international rugby. The Boks and Irish cancel each other out in an epic double header, but was it a fair result? Was there a block that allowed the last gasp drop goal from Frawley? What about our buddy Malcolm Marx and the dreaded Croc Roll….. and are you only as good as your last game (Max 😂) And what about England, will they ever get a better chance to beat the All Blacks in their own back yard? They keep getting so close to beating the best teams in the world but coming short. Is Project Borthwick to be commended or scrutinised? The All Blacks though are up and running in the Razor era, but how does Fiji’s evolution stack up? And Wales? Poor old Wales… They only waited until the 79th minute of their final match of the summer to pick up their first win of 2024…. But a win is a win (even against a second string Queensland Reds side) Most importantly what on earth did Max get up to in Senegal and how come Ryan came back less relaxed following his all inclusive luxury holiday than when he left…. 22 Oct 2024 | New rugby rules same old Saracens + Sharks the new Leinster | 00:48:47
From Euphoria last week to despair at the death for Max and his Bristol gang against the wily Saracens, they might be new look but their results are old school. We get the boys takes on the new 20 minute red card, as well as the scrum clock. Which side of the fence do the fall on? There's an emphatic Premiership roundup including Michael Cheika's hair dryer treatment, Fitz Harding and Max Llewellyn on flames while over in the URC, Ryan reckons it's a bit unfair how stacked the Sharks are. I mean shouldnt there be a cap on the number of World Cup winners in a squad? And who wins the Wolfcraig moment of the week in the ultimate wing showdown between Duhan van der Merwe and Gabriel Ibitoye? We also get a chance to natter about Rocky Elsom's arrest warrant and did you know Max was a butler in the buff at Katie Price aka Jordan's birthday party???? Enjoy and as always, we love you! 05 Nov 2024 | Ferrari turns into Ford + Duhan vs Darcy - England vs All Blacks + Scotland vs Fiji | 00:49:57
Sorry we've been away for a week but all will be explained in the pod.... The boys are back to break down the utterly fascinating clash between England and New Zealand as well as a far more one sided affair as Scotland and Fiji went head to head at Murrayfield. So, what do the fellas think of all the mud being thrown at George Ford? Is it warranted (it's not) what positives can this team take from another loss to the All Blacks. Is Steve Borthwick to blame for the defeat by trying not to lose rather than trying to win with his substitutions? What about New Zealand, is there a slipperier winger in world rugby right now than Mark Tele'a. How will the kiwis deal with taking on Ireland on Friday? Lots of hot takes on the early England celebrations (surprise surprise Ryan and Max disagree vehemently), whether the new trial laws are working and above all the hooha from the Haka controversy. Up in Scotland it was a much easier ride for the hosts, who thrashed an out of sorts Fiji team that had Ryan Willisonni as conflicted as you'll ever see him... especially as he was spotted in the official Fiji Autumn Internationals team photos (WTF?!!?) The new duel between the double DD's..... Duhan van der Merwe and Darcy Graham.... the record extenders and also an absolutely filthy piece of skill from our old pal Adam Hastings. But what next for Fiji, will the big guns returning manage to reunite our favourite second nation? and how about the Danny Care book spilling all the beans on the Eddie Jones era.... we'd heard a few anecdotes on the show but what do the boys think about all the revelations? Lots of fun to be had, we hope you enjoy it and as always, thanks for listening and watching we love you! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
12 Nov 2024 | Put That In Your Book - Caleb Clarke + Tom Wright | 01:16:25
Holy hecker what a lot to unpack on an absolutely packed out show. We are delighted to be joined by All Black superstar Caleb Clarke to take us through beating Ireland in Dublin, how quickly Rieko threw the burn of the century on the Irish but what he actually thinks of Johnny Sexton. He also gives the All Black insight on how the haka leader gets picked and why it had to be Rieko Ioane.... also which did he enjoy more beating the English or the Irish.... As if that's not enough we then have Wallaby wonderback Tom Wright on that phenonemal win for Australia over England.... What did the Wallabies think when Jamie George is captured on big screen grinning as it looked as though England had won the match at the death... We find out about wonderkid Joseph "Sue" Suaalii...,. Apparently he'd never picked up a rugby ball before Saturday which made his performance all the more fascinating.... Tom relives that last passage of play and how far theyve been pushing Sue and Angus Bell's buttons on tour... Also will with real Joe Schmidt please Stand up.... So much to talk about and so little time to do it in.... the boys talk through Wales amateur hour, Fiji being awesome and a missed opportunity for Scotland but then again The Springboks don't really ever lose when it matters right.... As always thank you our wonderful fans for supporting us. We love you! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
19 Nov 2024 | Behemoths Blitz All Blacks - Emmanuel Meafou | 01:12:38
We've got the biggest rugby player in the world, literally, Emmanuel Meafou to take us through that record equalling 3rd consecutive France win over New Zealand. What was that Haka like, why did their requests for jersey swaps get turned down and how tough a match was that? Emmanuel also takes us through his incredible journey from Australian rugby reject to France's superstar second row. He also explains why he turned down the NFL, why he's so grateful to be putting on the french jersey and how even a last minute call from Eddie Jones wasnt going to change his mind Legend of a man! The boys also take us through the rise of the Wallabies as they deconstructed Warren Gatlands Wales and turned them into statistically the worst Welsh side of all time. Whats gone wrong? Who's to blame? Conversely they also dive into whats gone Tom Wright for the Wallabies and how good its been seeing a bounce back in the step of the Aussies. There's a good chat on Ireland's controversial win over Argentina.... is it the end of the green northern hemisphere domination or just a blip. Plenty more as well as usual including Max's fiercely contested Wolfcraig Autumn Nations team of the week.... Enjoy and as always thanks for listening and watching. We love you! Hosted on Acast. We hear all about the surprise appearance of Scotlands newest star.... Sione's granny, who flew in to surprise him. Also what about that hit from Joseph Suaalii.... "felt like someone had climbed through my body" and there was a serious load of spiciness out on the pitch with serious amounts of niggle. 03 Dec 2024 | Bristol Bears Bomb Marlers Big Bash + Champions Cup preview | 00:58:38
With the Autumn Internationals done and dusted its back to the league clashes as Max's Bristol Bears put on a delicious display or running rugby to outshine Joe Marler on his big day. But what about the build up, how do rugby players get ready for such big matches? Nandos? Did you say Nandos? In any case the game was amazing but what happened between Gabi Ibitoye and Joe Marler? We break down a fabulous contest at the Stoop. We also put the final test match between Ireland and Australia under the microscope. Have Ireland peaked? Who was the Wallabies Man of Tour? Can Prendergast and Crowley ever emulate Johnny Sexton? Do Ireland deserve to make up the bulk of the Lions? Questions that need to be answered. Then it's onto a round up of the Premiership with some big couple of results while over in the URC, Edinburgh almost blow a 35 point lead... Plus friend of the show Adam Hastings suffers a nasty injury, which makes us sad. Then the big one.... It's the Maul or Nothing Champions Cup Preview and there are some seriously tasty ties to look ahead to... From a biased perspective none more so than Bristol vs Leinster where the boys will finally be reunited. We even have a chance to discuss the RFU Bill Sweeney pay scandal. Lots of lols and lots of love for listening and watching. We love you! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
10 Dec 2024 | Jordie Barrett, Ilona Maher, Harry Randall + Harry Thacker. Champions Cup Celebrity Chaos | 00:51:04
It's a very special episode of Maul or Nothing with the boys all making their way to Bristol for the Bears Champions Cup clash with the mighty men of Leinster. Max is starting and Ryan is as close as you can be to him working as a pitchside pundit/reporter. The boys manage to have a lovely interview together before the battle commences! While the game doesnt go Max's way he does score Bristol's opening try and generally puts in a barnstorming performance, earning several scrum penalties against his international calibre opponents. Post match we can humbly say that the boys tread the fine line between annoyingly persistent and endearingly pushy to perfection securing interviews with several stars including Jordie Barrett, Ilona Maher, Harry Randall, Harry Thacker and Mike McCarthy. Without a doubt the highlight of the day (citation needed) for each of these lovely people..... And then the boys are finally reunited together in the same room to take us through the rest of the Champions Cup results while seemingly unable to contain their excitement at being back together doing what they do best. Enjoy and as always... We love you!!!! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

He also runs us through his England experience so far, looking ahead to the Six Nations and what its been like having so many of his Saints mates in the squad with him. We also dissect the Bristol Bears Champions Cup clash with La Rochelle and how it went for Max when he was supposed to just be a substitute..... the mindset shift and joking around with Will Skelton. Also what was that Jack Nowell finish?!? What did they get up to after the match and which players led the charge in La Rochelle.... Ryan was non stop punditing at the Champions Cup... what was it like watching Max in a Dublin pub... and how did Benetton manage to hold on for the win over Bath trying to do everything to lose that! The boys also give a full round up of the Champions Cup including the failure of all the South African sides to pick up a win. Do they want to be in this competition? Do they care? Is it better than Super Rugby for the Saffa sides? We hear all the hot takes from the fellas. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Visibly awkward at winning player of the match every week and even player of the month we hear about what was going through his head in that fabulous victory over Toulon. He also takes us through nilling Max's Bristol, playing for England with his twin brother Tom Curry (they were on the field for 1 second together....) Being identical does Ben ever step in for Tom? (answer yes...) Who is faster out of the twins? and do the players get confused with them around. Its also time to celebrate Max Lahiff after reaching 100 caps for Bristol. 27 Jan 2025 | 6 Nations Preview Show | 00:59:34
It’s the big preview show! The boys look ahead to the most tantalising of Six Nations tournaments. What are each team's chances? Can England be the kingslayers in Dublin? Or will the wily men of the Emerald Isle defy some outrageous soothsaying of their temporal demise…. (Over the hill….) Will the Super Maro Borthers team do the double against Ireland? Can France refind their va va voom, lost last year in an underwhelming campaign? The return of Antoine DuPont and Romain Ntamack is ominous for those who dare dream of beating Les Bleus… What about Scotland? Can they overcome losing their talisman and captain (and all round legendary bloke) Sione Tuipolotu. Can their forwards front up and lay the platform for their supercharged star studded back line? And what of the Italians…. This is surely their time! Powered by their majestic midfield duo of Brexoncello (Brex + Menoncello, just in case you didn’t get it) the most passionate of captains in (friend of the show) Michele Lamaro and a core of the Benetton squad who just beat La Rochelle to seal their place in the Champions Cup knock outs….. The future looks Azurri! Which brings us to Wales…. As Yazz once sung… “The Only Way Is Up”. After the most crushingly poor autumn nations series and a record losing streak some of the big guns are finally back. Lions heroes Liam Williams and Josh Adams are where they belong to bring some fire, guile and most importantly, experience to a young talented group. Tasty tasty tasty tasty. The boys also whip round the Prem and URC and verbally joust as always. Enjoy and we love you! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This episode is sponsored by Factory Weights! Head to factoryweights.co.uk put in the code STAYSTRONG and you can get yourself 15% off!!! There’s a great sale on right now so jump on over! What a treat we have for you all this week. We’re joined by none other than Scotland Centre and purveyor extraordinaire of tries Huw Jones. Huw takes through the triple meat pie and the “it’s happening again” moment when Italy drew level at 19-19. But there’s a new found resilience to the Scots and ultimately they did everything they needed to do to pick up the 5 points. First banana skin avoided! We hear Huw’s thoughts on what’s going on inside the Scotland camp but also have a chance to beat his wild journey to the top. Some real sliding doors moments that might never have seen the dynamo Midas centre hit the highs of winning the URC or winning over 50 caps for his country. And what about the other games? Close and no cigar seems to be a recurring theme for England but this was more comprehensive. Beaten soundly by the Green machine. Ireland showing no signs of being Dads army actually accelerating through the gears in the latter stages. Ireland vs France sure promises to be an absolute blockbuster. But what of the English? What does Steve Borthwick do? all questions wonderfully answered by the boys. We also go through the Wales nadir against France in Paris. Rarely has there been a more one sided game in recent years in the six nations. What can Warren Gatland do? France through purring like a well oiled machine despite injuries and a very callow side they blew the Welsh away! We also hear from the lads Max gives us his take on being destroyed by an almost entire Wallaby side as Bristol are taught a heavy lesson against the Queensland Reds. Silver lining though… Max scored a try! It’s another blast with the boys enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
11 Feb 2025 | England are Back! France Tamed at Twickenham + Ireland Grand Slam Incoming | 01:06:22
It's the victory they craved, the victory they needed, the victory they deserved and the victory they delivered... England have finally beaten a tier 1 nation and delivered a win that finally puts the Borthwick doubters back in their seats... Or has it? What do the boys think? Test rugby is a game of fine margins and how much luck was involved with France seemingly playing all the rugby but with a sadomasochistic contempt for the try line.... Dupont is human after all.... Who were the stand out performers? Who has helped their Lions cause no end? The boys single out Tom Curry for praise but the highest accolades are sent the way of Fin Smith. Has the fly half debate been settled? What actually happened to France? Over at Murrayfield Ireland were serving up the blueprint for away wins in the Six Nations according to Ronan O'Gara. Absolutely dominating a strangely subdued Scotland team. On this form does anyone bet against them to march to a grand slam in style? And what a win for Italy....Wales didn’t feel like a scalp..... More the new order….. But what of Wales? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel... can they take any benefits from their first loss at the Stadio Olimpico in their history? The boys give you a full round up of a dramatic round of Six Nations Rugby.. Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It’s a new dawn for Wales, new head coach in Matt Sherratt, some new faces and hopefully a new result for them. But is there a more daunting task in world rugby right now than the Irish coming to town? The boys discuss the Irish weaknesses (hint: there are none) and their mindset as they look to continue their barnstorming Six Nations tournament so far. Meanwhile Ryan will be down at Twickenham for the Calcutta Cup match between England and Scotland…. The Scots hoping to make it five wins in a row but the English are riding a wave of optimism after beating France at the death in round 2. How do the boys see this one shaping up? How are the Scottish boys feeling after that chastening defeat at the hands of the mighty Irish? Ryan is worried but always picks his heart above his head…. Can Scotland put in that performance that continues this stranglehold they have over England these last few years? And finally France head to Rome to take on the Italians buoyed by that impressive win over Wales. Which France will we see? The one who couldn’t catch a train when it mattered against England or the one that battered Wales? Surely Antoine Dupont can’t be human two games in a row? There's no risk with Nord’s 30 day money-back guarantee! So it finally happened England have regained the Calcutta Cup. Despite conceding more tries, missing more tackles, less possession, less territory, less metres carried, less line breaks, less tackle breaks and less offloads, they beat Scotland to prove stats matter less than points. Max and Ryan go head to head in the feelings around this one. Winning is winning right? What about the Tommy Freeman try? Doesnt matter as long as the ref thinks you scored! At the end of the day, despite The Afrikaner Android that is Duhan Van der Merwe's best efforts it wasnt to be for Scotland. That said should big Dwayne have tried to get it closer to the posts to helps Finn Russell for that final missed kick??? Maro "the octopus of chaos" Itoje and his Red Roses won't care, just ask Max he was out with them after the match and gives us the lowdown on the partying. Listen out for the sheer volume of name drops from Ryan and Max after their day (and night) out in London. A who's who of rugby royalty. Over in Cardiff a resurgent Wales produced their best performance for a very long time to put the heebie-jeebies up the Irish. Ultimately, Ireland doing what they do best, winning. Can anyone stop the green army marching towards a second grand slam in 3 years? Over to you France! Speaking of the French... how many of you claimed Antoine Dupont was human because of 1 below his superlative standards performance against England…. Demi God Dupont activated in a absolutely harrowing match for the Italians.... The French are cooking, round 4 looks like the tournament decider in Dublin. Hosted on Acast. The boys gives us an insight into How important emotional energy is as Dublin bids farewell to the Ireland greats Peter O'Mahony, Conor Murray and Cian Healy.... On the French side is Fabien Galthie picking naughty naughty Ntamack or Turnstile tackling Thomas Ramos? Ryan and Max are both going to be up at Murrayfield for the Scotland vs Wales clash.... and according to Ryan if all falls into place.... Scotland will win by 25 points... there's patriotism and there's mildly moronic... or will Mystic Meg Ryan make the other two look foolish? And rounding off the weekend at Twickenham will be England vs Italy... Max tries to foresee the style of play that England will bring.. Will it be the box kicking bores who beat Scotland… or the team that scored 7 tries in total against Ireland and France? We’re delighted to be joined by Scotland Superstar Sione Tuipulotu to break down all the biggest talking points from another fabulous weekend of Six Nations Action. We’re going to be honest Max, Ryan and Sione had a massive massive day out at Murrayfield and are reaping what they sowed in a celebrity filled Six Nations blur on Saturday. While trying to keep everything on track we get the lowdown from the boys following Scotlands sublime slash squeeky bum performance against Wales… Why is it that Gregor’s men always seem to make things hard for themselves in a match they seemed to be cruising. And what about events over in Dublin…. France majestic as they put an end to Ireland’s grand slam hopes in the most emphatic and season defining style. Even without the injured Antoine Dupont the French juggernaut just steamrolled a shellshocked Ireland side. The biggest question is though…. will Scotland throw the game against France to ensure it’s the Gallic brethren that lift the trophy rather than the auld enemy…. England need to navigate a tricky trip to the Principality to take on a Welsh side desperate to salvage their tournament…. We also get stuck into Sione’s life, how his dad made Sione and his brother join his local club so the 3 could play together, even though there was somewhat of an age gap. We get the boys thoughts on Henry Pollock as he picks up his first Premiership try and what a try it was! However they put the skids on any Lions thoughts. Not because he's not good enough but more because the competition is just so intense in the back row. (Does he play prop?) We also hear what actually went down in Hong Kong as Ryan hung out with an array of the worlds biggest Rugby stars. Enjo! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

They discuss fabulous Christmas gifts, the time Ryan and Hasto fell asleep in a club… with Ryan’s parents…and the randomness of writing off your car… Getting stuck into this weeks theme of Tours, we hear about onsens, shavings, Argentine dive bars / super clubs and who are the best (and worst) room mates... And like all good Christmas parties it naturally finishes with a silly game and chilly shots! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
18 Dec 2023 | 17: Flop 14…French Giants on brink of early exit | 00:58:56
Hot off the press, the boys round up the latest Champions Cup action including overanalysing Max’s display against Bordeaux on and off the field…. Pontificating on whether a testimonial means Courtney Lawes can’t play for England in the Six Nations despite his ridiculously good form. They’re full of praise for ice man Mannie Libbok but less so for Zander Fagerson! There’s also a big transfer section this week including Eddie Jones’ Japanese jaunt and the Hybrid contract situation in England. So much to pack in but all the rugby chat you need after a fabulous weekend of European action Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

09 Jan 2024 | 19: New Year Thrills, Drills & Poo Pills | 00:45:14
With the New Year come the inevitable resolutions which Ryan has bafflingly decided to stick to. Some good drills, poo pills (it’s almost exactly what it sounds like) and a very big one… but can he last until Feb? In fact can he last the week with the boys together again. Max promises to be happier, with some philosophical musings around the need for it. On the rugby front Max’s chassis gets some serious air time after Bristol’s long awaited win away at Sale and the boys break down the Premiership match of the season so far. A 78 point thriller between Exeter and Northampton. Let’s make the Prem more like Super Rugby one of the many topics of discussion. There’s also some early chat around the fast approaching Six Nations and what England fans actually want. Results or entertainment…. Also, what the hell was Max wearing against Sale…. 15 Jan 2024 | 20: The Angry Edition…Cards & Cr*p Calls on Blue Monday | 00:52:36
It’s a Champions Cup Special as the boys breakdown all the main talking points from the weekend's action. Thing is…. They’re pissed off! Despite his New Year’s resolution to be happier there’s a proper stress test of Max’s willpower when he’s handed a (ludicrous in our unbiased eyes) yellow card against the mighty Bulls. Even worse is he’s been reprimanded for wearing his Gryffindor scrum cap… but who grassed him up to World Rugby??? Meanwhile Ryan has been jousting and jabbing anyone and everyone on social media after his Glasgow Warriors side were robbed of a win at Exeter. Was it the right call in that dramatic finale? You’ll be surprised to find that Ryan may not have thought so. But are Spats with Flats worthwhile…. The boys though are loving the B’s… Bordeaux, Blair (Kinghorn) and Bath. Hosted on Acast. 17 Jan 2024 | 22: Blair Kinghorn & an intimate insight into life in France | 00:52:42
We catch up with Toulouse’s latest star signing, the back three sensation that is Blair Kinghorn. We find out that he thought he was off to Toulon and all about his first taste of French team showers and how he measured up. He also talks us through the manic pre match warm up with Antoine Dupont. It’s intense but it might not be quite what you think…. We get an insight into the real Blair Kinghorn as he enters Max’s Minds of Moria quizzing. It gets weird but then again Max and Blair are weird so it works. Most importantly he spills the beans on a British and Irish Lion who the elite rugby playing world has renamed for a hilarious reason. Oh and he misses Adam Hastings so spends hours with his Zoom lover. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
22 Jan 2024 | 23: Captain Fintastic and the Super Saints - The Champions Cup Roundup | 00:54:52
It’s a tough one this week…. Max reflects on Bristol's European exit, which has the boys googling therapy dogs…. Luckily Ryan spent the weekend working at Gloucester, he tries to persuade Zach Mercer to apply for Scottish citizenship but breaks his dry January on the town with Adam Hastings, Leone Nakarawa and Niko Matawalu. The Saints show their champions credentials… which Smith do you prefer though for the Six Nations, Finn or Marcus. Speaking of Finns, Ryan’s pal is the new Co captain of Scotland. What will he be like…. And what will it be like for Jamie Ritchie now? There’s a Champions Cup roundup and what to look forward to in the last 16, as well as some complete guess work predictions 👍 The boys also breakdown the red cards and Joe Schmidt’s big move to head up the Wallabies! 24 Jan 2024 | 24: England’s Future Captain Ben Earl Reveals All | 00:53:56
It’s finally here, after months of ghosting and self reflection from Max, it turns out his friendship with Ben Earl is real and the ultimate gaslighting was merely an illusion. It’s a bumper episode with Ben Earl as he talks us through his time playing at Bristol with Max, the ups and downs and a particular man of the match performance which was all the sweeter for how it came to be in the first place. Ben takes us through his World Cup experience and putting all the pressure on himself before the Fiji game. He talks us through 24th man beer fears and what was the most powerful driver for some of Sarries best performances. There’s a lot of honesty around his England aspirations and how he felt under Eddie Jones. There’s even more honesty around how ridiculous he thought Max looked in his new scrum cap. He also gives us his take on media furore around his celebrations, Sarries and Faz It’s England’s Future Captain (in our minds) Under the Microscope Hosted on Acast. 30 Jan 2024 | 25: Six Nations Rugby Preview | 01:06:17
It’s finally here… The Maul or Nothing Six Nations Mega Preview Fest 2024. The boys break down each team, who to look out for, what the big talking points are and most importantly they answer the conundrums currently flying around one of the most intriguing Six Nations for years. With the raft of retirements, unavailabilities, 5 new captains and question marks over most of the fly halves (bar Finn “Messi” Russell) the boys do the hard work by answering all those queries for you. They gaze into their crystal balls to predict the final outcomes while trying not to alienate themselves from every single fan base. We also have time to hear from Max after that epic 101 point encounter against Bath and the ecstasy of the victory and the smash in the Bristol Bermuda Triangle Hosted on Acast. In this second part of their chat, Ben tells the boys all about life at Sarries; including life under the tough love leadership of Captain Faz, the infamous get right sessions and having to pretend to be our very own Ryan Wilson…and just how unpopular that made him! We also hear about Ben’s hopes for the Six Nations, his captaincy aspirations and just what did go down between Farrell and Arundell in that World Cup training session… Hosted on Acast. 05 Feb 2024 | 27: Astounding Weekend Of Six Nations Rugby | 00:50:58
The boys break down a ridiculous round of rugby as the Six Nations kicked off with a bang. A record breaking Ireland pulverising France in Marseille Was that the finest ever Irish performance in the six nations or were DuPont-less France a little bit Bleu…. Ryan enjoyed all the hospitality at Wales vs Scotland and even managed to enjoy 1 half of rugby as Wales almost pulled off the unspeakable comeback to end all comebacks. Seen schmoozing with all the big Wales stars, how did Ryan survive and make it on the pod? Max meanwhile waxes lyrical on an England back row and a performance to finally be proud of. (Sidestepping the fact it was England’s narrowest ever victory over Italy) He’s played Ethan Roots in his Fantasy Team and thinks he’s a different specimen of rugby player. It’s a full round up of the highs and highers of the Six Nations and also find out how to win tickets to Scotland vs France!!! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
06 Feb 2024 | 28: Sione Tuipulotu - the Cardiff Cauldron - Inside Scotland vs Wales | 00:37:33
The Maul or Nothing Boys get the inside scoop on that most astonishing of matches between Wales and Scotland. Sione takes us through those suffocating moments as the game looked to be slipping away…. What was being said, who stood up, what goes through your mind when the noise is deafening and what was Gregor Townsends reaction to the unfolding events. We also hear about the post match reaction in the changing room and their approach as they turn their attention to the France game. We also hear about Sione first bumping into Max in the gym when he was a teenager in Melbourne and the absolute beasts they had in their young squad. There’s also been some family fun trying to persuade his brothers to come and enjoy the delights that Scotland has to offer. As always a front row seat to all the chat and gossip from the Six Nations… Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
12 Feb 2024 | 29: Six Nations - The Great Murrayfield Robbery | 00:59:11
Sacré Bleu Ryan is angry. He is still seething at Saturday’s result. Having spent the week in Dubai, had his return flight cancelled and arrived for all his work at Murrayfield at the last minute he can’t quite fathom what’s happened. Unfortunately for Max, Ryan is going through the 6 stages of grief…. He’s done denial but can’t get past anger. Which is funny. Max meanwhile is the eternal optimist seeing the good in England’s narrow win over Wales (something which irritates Ryan immensely) Luckily both the boys agree that Ireland are unstoppable and could become the first team to win back to back six nations championships in the history of the 6 team competition. Also if you want to see the boys, they’ll be recording a live podcast at the Prince of Wales pub in Covent Garden on Tuesday! Ticket proceeds go to charity so come say hi! Hosted on Acast. 22 Feb 2024 | 30: Tepid Takes and Geordie Sheikhs | 00:28:54
The boys are back to talk Darts, Dublin and Domestic duties, as Max finally completes his incredibly protracted house move....somehow thanks largely to his cutting loose with a hand saw...which gives Ryan an idea! Also in this episode, recorded at the start of the week but unfortunately delayed due to technical reasons, the boys dish out some now not so hot takes on recalls for Manu Tuilagi, Harry Randall & Hamish Watson😬, while also giving some much more relevant opinions on actual recalls for friends of the show Ollie Lawrence and Blair Kinghorn...as well as the mysterious continued omission of Zach Mercer. The boys also give us some deep thoughts on a hopeless task for Wales and a maybe not quite so hopeless task for Italy... And they also find the time to check in on the Saudi deal…. Is the Kingdom about to descend upon the Premiership? Can we expect Toulouse to Tyneside for Antoine DuPont as Newcastle look to be the big beneficiaries of barrels of banknotes??? 27 Feb 2024 | 31: Michele Lamaro on Italian Heartbreak + Duhan The Destroyer of England's Title Hopes | 01:09:09
“Humble in Victory, Gracious in Defeat” does not apply to Ryan Wilson ever. Disgraceful post-France, his humility following Scotlands resounding win over England is something to behold. Max remains admirably calm in the face of Ryan’s gloating and can’t help but wax lyrical over Big Duane VDM… We also catch up with Italy Captain, Michele Lamaro, and those heartbreaking last seconds when the win against France was in their hands. He tells us what went through their heads and the atmosphere within the squad. It’s also a bright future for Italy and they know they’re going in the right direction and things are falling into place. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
06 Mar 2024 | 32: Simon Zebo’s Guide to Beating Ireland + 6 Nations Preview | 01:02:42
We’re delighted to be joined by Ireland, Lions and Munster star Simon Zebo. He gives the boys the keys to the kingdom with his take on how England can beat Ireland. Only 3 things need to happen…. He gives us an insight into what makes Jack Crowley tick and what makes Joe McCarthy such an irresistible force. The real question is “are Ireland better now than they were during last year’s grand slam” and Zeebs is pretty sure of his answer. He explains to the Philistines just why Andy Farrell is so good at what he does and just for good measure gives his prediction on the “Fans Slam” for Scotland…. The boys preview of the penultimate round of the Six Nations filled with predictions, hot takes and hopefully the perfect soundbite from an extremely confident Ryan. Hosted on Acast. 12 Mar 2024 | 33: Irish Dominated at 'HQ' & Italy Crush Scotland's 'Fan Slam' with Monty Ioane | 01:27:33
Wow…. That was unexpected. Italy put paid to the Fans Grand Slam much to the chagrin of Ryan. And Despite his best efforts at the art of filibustering, the outlandish predictions of Mystic Wils finally catch up with him...Scotland to win by 14 points...AT LEAST! Back by very popular demand Simon Zebo is given his right to reply to his own predictions...but is the humble pie on his menu? We catch up with Italy winger Monty Ioane to hear all about the emotion at the Stadio Olimpico. How did the players prepare, what was the atmosphere like on the pitch and most importantly what did they get up to after. We’re then back at Twickenham with Ryan in the corporate boxes enjoying England's best performance since the 2019 World Cup Semi Final. How Ryan and Simon Zebo laughed at the suggestion England could beat Ireland… but Max said “there’s always a chance”…. Heartbreak for our Irish cousins as the potential Grand Slam is torn from their hands at the death with Marcus Smith dropping the dagger between the posts and through the Irish hearts. Question is… how did Max enjoy the action on a weekend in Prague? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
18 Mar 2024 | 34: The Ultimate Six Nations Roundup | 01:03:41
The curtain has come down on the greatest six nations of all time (in Max’s words) Ireland worthy winners, although Ryan will no doubt infuriate some of our Irish friends with his take. But what about the others? Max is thrilled with England’s resurgence. They backed it up in Lyon, but there’s definitely some disagreement between the boys as to where France are. One thinks they’re back and the other thinks they need Dupont back! Ryan takes his time with a sobering assessment of Scotland's campaign but everyone agrees what a tournament its been for Italy. And what of Wales? Is it all doom and gloom or are there chinks of light in the distance. The boys round up a thrilling final round of rugby and an unforgettable competition as a whole. 27 Mar 2024 | 35: TM-uh-O: Big Game Controversy & URC/Prem Roundup | 01:01:05
Club rugby is back and so are the big talking points. Ryan and Max get their heads around a bizarre big game call as Quins and Sarries clashed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. What about the Bears mauling the Saints, Max takes us into Bristol’s mindset around that statement win. We round up all the action and hot takes as the business end of the URC/Prem crank into gear. We also discuss the latest transfer rumours, giving away some tantalising big goss from within the rugby inner sanctum and there’s even time to discuss how wily coaches get their players into the international set up. 01 Apr 2024 | 36: Sin-Win for Quins + Champions Cup Preview | 01:06:52
This week the boys break down another howler in the Prem…. Sin Bins optional between Harlequins and Bath. Regardless what a match! This Is Rugby! The guys revel in a great win for Bristol. The only unbeaten side in the Prem since the end of the 6 Nations. (2 games…) It is tight at the top for the Play Offs with the lads rounding up all the action. Similar story in the URC, although Ryan reckons the top 3 are locked up, but there’s still space at the top table. Our darlings Benetton back in the mix…. But just 5 points separate 5th and 11th…. The Race for Europe is on, speaking of which… the Boys give their Champions Cup round of 16 previews and predictions. The usual hot takes are there and more importantly deep life affirming questions answered…. What to wear as a rugby player if you want to get melted on the field? What would Ryan and Max do now if they came up against each other? The one piece of advice for a Hong Kong Sevens Virgin? Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
10 Apr 2024 | 37: Saracens Smashed, Stormers Sorrow, Saints Go Marching On + HK7s Pilgrimage | 01:03:34
European knock out rugby is back and the big boys deliver as Bordeaux Blitz a Fazless Saracens while La Rochelle somehow survive the Stormers onslaught. Are Northampton contenders according to the boys? It’s worth noting that Ryan joins us from Hong Kong having had an almighty time at the Sevens. Fair to say anxiety levels are high after partying with all the stars. How will he take the fact that Max thinks we’re recording on another day…. We hear all about the amazing Hong Kong Sevens, and the boys round up a fabulous weekend of Champions Cup Action. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

They talk through all things Sevens; from the fastest players to the best venues, and of course the wild weekends in Hong Kong. We hear about her personal journey - from how she got into the sport via a serious injury to dishing the dirt on her room mates. 15 Apr 2024 | 39: Blair Kinghorn, CEO - Chiefs Extermination Order + History making Quins | 01:30:25
The King of the South (of France) joins the boys to talk through the ton of tries which lit up a weekend of European action. Blair / Smaug gives an insight into the pre match hysteria, the half time roasting and the post match celebrations at the home of the Kings of Europe. Rugby is great and none more so than when underdogs get their day. Very few people saw that Quins win coming, least of all Mystic Max and The Oryancle Wilson. There is time though for Ryan (Jonny) Wilkinson to highlight how easy Maxime Lucu’s kick should have been (having never himself been in that position) Leinster (yet again at home) send out a big message of intent in dispatching the Champions but the lads aren’t convinced that La Rochelle’s exploits in Cape Town vs the Stormers had anything to do with the loss. We hear their take on the Bulls’ controversial decision to put the URC ahead of the Champions Cup…were they justified in their complaints or is it just what they signed up for…and either way Northampton keep doing what they’ve been doing all season…but is this the end of the road? And the boys talk through Toulouse’s ‘Gone in 600 seconds’ job on Exeter…it was close until it wasn’t any more! There’s also time to discuss Smaug's best mate Adam Hasting’s outrageous piece of skill. But what was the real driver for that tekkers masterclass? Hosted on Acast. 22 Apr 2024 | 40: The Art of Thrashing - Max Re-Signs as Bristol Maul Newcastle | 00:59:37
Big week for the Maxotron! With Ryan dropping hints on every episode that Max was heading to the URC with Benetton…. Max is in fact remaining a Bear for another year. Speaking of Bristol… there was a feeding frenzy at Ashton Gate as The Falcons had their wings clipped by a ravenous record Bears mauling. Some eye watering statistics included: 13 Tries (Max Lahiff 0 but claiming almost 1…) 44 clean breaks (Max Lahiff 0) The boys discuss the business end of both the Prem and URC which is getting tighter per day. Bath are back on track while the Saints go marching on…. There are some particularly surprising weekend results in the URC though including 2 home defeats for the South African sides…. What do the Bulls fans make of resting their stars for the European Cup and then losing to Munster anyway? Ospreys carry the Welsh flame as they stun the Stormers in SA. But the big one…. The Lions liquifying Leinster to make sure there were some smiles on South African faces on Saturday. Oh and the boys want your rugby stories! The Rumour Maul is back! Also to our fans in Dubai, there’s a live show coming so keep your eyes and ears peeled for a forthcoming announcement! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
29 Apr 2024 | 41: The Saviour of Bristol Bears and The Care Card Controversy | 01:20:30
Game changing, match winning, Tiger mauling, whitewash crossing, ball destroying Max Lahiff obliterating his try scoring statistics with not one but TWO meat pies. You might be surprised to hear that we go quite big on Max’s starring role in the Bears stunning comeback win at Leicester to boost their hopes of a playoff place. Maxotron takes us through those defining moments and what was being shouted at the Bristol bench when they were 19 points down with around 10 minutes to go….. The boys also wade into the Danny Care card controversy… should he have been sent off? Is it wise for referees to officiate their former teams? In any case the Thriller at Twickenham is put under the microscope as the Saints march is halted and Quins keep up the pace with the top four. It’s so tight in the Prem that even Exeter in 7th are still in with a shout. The boys take us through the big talking points of the URC as the top 4 put daylight between themselves and the chasing pack…. And we look ahead to those monumental champions cup semi finals Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

André relives the previous 24 hours with Harlequins, the pride in their performance but also the frustration at how close they got. He gives his take on that silly penalty from Joe Marler at a crucial time and the mindset of the boys as they entered the “neutral” lions den. There are also some choice words on the French broadcasting standards and Thomas Ramos Lord of the shithousers. He also takes us through the heartbreak of missing out on a World Cup and then winning one, his Sharks move and he explains his thinking around why Marcus Smith is the best fly half for him. VIP friend of the show Blair meanwhile is living the dream as Toulouse head to the Champions Cup final but it’s kinda hard to see his emotions because HIS NOSE IS FAAAAAAAAAAAACKED and buried under a ton of dressing like he’s been mummified. Aphele takes us through The Shark infested waters of a tricky URC season where Europe has been their only relief. It’s why Friday’s showdown has such an added dimension, it’s the be all or end all for both The Sharks and their opponents Gloucester. Aphele also relives his dream debut for the Springboks. I mean has there ever been a better first touch in the history international rugby? We also hear what it means for him and his family to be a Springbok. Meanwhile Hasto gives us an update on everything to do with Blair Kinghorn. It’s funny that Blair spent most of our recent catch up telling us all about Hasto…. Ah the star crossed lovers. We hear about the significance of this redemptive match at Tottenham Hotspur's Stadium, the fallout from that drubbing at the hands of the Saints and his move to Glasgow. Will Hasto’s GF be joining him or will golf with Ryan be too time consuming?
