College World Series starts today in Omaha, and there's intriguing players that could play their way into the 1st round of the 2023 MLB Draft! Looking at Bracket 1 (Florida, Virginia, TCU, and Oral Roberts), RHP Brandon Sproat (UF) has tons of tools but needs to be more consistent, 3B Jake Gelof (UVA) needs to perform against high fastballs, and SS Josh Rivera (UF) needs to build on his breakout senior season.

From Bracket 2 (Wake Forest, Stanford, LSU, & Tennessee), LHP Sean Sullivan (WF) needs to land the changeup against good lefty hitters, SS MAui Ahuna (Tenn) needs to get soe clutch hits against good fastballs or offspeed stuff (either is fine) and 3B Brock Wilken (WF) needs to hit a homerun or two out of Omaha's not-tiny ballpark.

On today's Farm Friday, we're looking at the Chicago Cubs and their stacked farm system. A ball has quite a few promising pieces acquired in trades - OF Kevin Alcantara (Anthony Rizzo), OF Owen Caissie (Yu Darvish), and the big one, 2022 Futures Game participant Pete Crow-Armstrong (Javy Baez). Double-A has some interesting pitchers, including two "lefties with amazing changeups" in Jordan Wicks and DJ Herz, and RHP Ryan Jensen. MLB Pipeline has put out their new Top 100 Prospects list, and we have a new #1! Baltimore Orioles SS Jackson Holliday is now the #1 prospect in all of baseball, passing Cincinnati Reds SS Elly De La Cruz and Milwaukee Brewers OF Jackson Chourio. Why did they put Holliday at #1, and why jump two guys who have a longer track record, including one in EDLC who is doing it at the major league level?

Then, there's five guys who jumped more than 25 spots: Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero was the biggest riser last time, too, and he's now #17 on the list. He's joined by big risers 3B Colt Keith of the Detroit Tigers, C Ethan Salas of the San Diego Padres, LHP Andrew Abbott of the Cincinnati Reds, and RHP AJ Smith-Shawver of the Atlanta Braves.

Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the IronPigs, have the third member of the lethal Reading rotation in RHP Griff McGarry (#3), who has some of the best stuff in the system but also has control issues, as well as flawed pitching prospects Hans Crouse (#6), Erik Miller (#7), and Francisco Morales (#8) who are all talented but have some sort of glaring flaw to fix before they can pan out at the MLB level.

On the final AL Central farm preview, we're looking at the Kansas City Royals. The top prospects are all position players, just like almost all of last year's rookies. 1st rounder OF Gavin Cross is already the best power-hitter in the system, while 3B Cayden Wallace looks to be Bobby Witt's running mate in two or three years. The State of the Pitching is...well, complicated. You're running out of chances to develop that 2018 college pitching class, but in the meantime, your 2021 prep studs (RHP Ben Kudrna and LHP Frank Mozzicato) look great and LHP ANgel Zerpa and RHP Beck Way are one or two small tweaks away from being Major League caliber, as well. For Superlatives, C Carter Jensen is this system's breakout prospect of 2023 while OF Diego Hernandez is one of the five best outfield defenders in the minor leagues already.
