Daniel Koppen (born September 12, 1979) is a former American football center. He played college football for Boston College, and was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. 

New England Patriots (2003–2011)

Koppen entered the 2003 NFL Draft following college and was selected by the New England Patriots in the fifth round with the 164th overall choice. Koppen entered the 2003 season as the backup to Pro Bowl center Damien Woody; however, Woody missed Week 2 with an injury, giving an opportunity for Koppen to start his first NFL game. Woody returned the next week, but a season-ending injury to starting guard Mike Compton allowed Woody to slide to the guard position and Koppen to start the remainder of the season at center, including the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVIII win over the Carolina Panthers. Following the season, Woody signed with the Detroit Lions, leaving Koppen as the Patriots' starting center. Koppen started all 16 games for the Patriots in 2004, earning his second Super Bowl ring in as many seasons with the Patriots' victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. 

Koppen was released during final cuts prior to the 2012 season on August 31, 2012.[4]

Denver Broncos (2012–2013)On September 10, 2012, Koppen agreed to a 1-year deal with the 

Denver Broncos.[5] On July 28, 2013, Koppen suffered a torn ACL during training camp and missed the entire 2013 season.

While in college, he had the unique opportunity of studying abroad in China where he studied Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Literature at Peking University.

After graduating Tufts, Dr. Lee subsequently attended the Tufts University School of Medicine where he participated in the MD/MBA program. After completing the Tufts Combined Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, he then received his fellowship training at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship where he trained with international pioneers in sports medicine, arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery. 

As a fellow, he served as an assistant team physician for the San Diego State University Aztecs and the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. He is presently team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team, Rock N' Roll Sports Medicine, and Crescenta Valley High School. 

Dr. Lee has a longtime commitment to running. A track athlete in high school, he transitioned to distance running over the years and completed the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007, the Boston Marathon in 2008 and 2010 and the Chicago Marathon in 2013. As a healthcare provider, he has served as a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series Medical Team since 2012. He presently has a passion for running, golf, volleyball, basketball and football.  

A violinist since the age of 4, Dr. Lee has traveled internationally to Europe and South America to give both solo and ensemble performances. He attended the Tanglewood Music Institute on scholarship during the summer of 1996 and continued his musical studies while at Tufts, winning the University Concerto Competition in 1998 and 2001. He has been the fortunate recipient of the Jacob Swartz Young Artist Award for solo performance and the Eugene Lehner Chamber Music Award as a member of the Rackwick Quartet.

Dr. Lee has several research interests and has published in major orthopedic journals and presented at national meetings. He currently has active projects in ACL reconstruction, shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder arthroscopy, overhead athletes, post-operative pain management, MRI, meniscus repair and biceps pathology.

Part Two, Mr. O, details Looper's summer experience while working for a contentious greenskeeper. Still caddying, this time for an international exhibition of female golfers, he is never far from the country club intrigue that consumes his life. Under the iron hand of his supervisor Mr. Olson, Looper learns the ins and outs of golf course maintenance. His views on agronomy, turf care, disease, irrigation, equipment, and country club maneuvering, undergo a dramatic learning curve with the arrival of new assistant superintendent, Jerome Gjertson. Jerome's new age education conflicts with Mr. Olson's old school ways. Part Two will strongly resonate with anyone working in any agronomic capacity associated with the golf course maintenance industry.

As the international exhibition unfolds, pitting Swedish female golfers versus American college girls, Looper finds himself firmly enmeshed in the competitive nature of the tournament.

Part Three, In The Pro Shop, tells the story of Looper's growth. Thanks to his understanding of human nature and popularity with the membership, Looper views country club politics on a heightened level while giving lessons to an attractive member's daughter. With the help of his mentor Billy Sauers, Looper learns to fully comprehends the give and take required to serve and survive the foibles of the country club membership while courting the prospect of romance.

What makes for "perfect putting practice"?  Developing a stroke that ensures your putter face is square to the line that you read, (and you need to be on) to make the putt.  So what is the purpose of putting practice- to develop a stroke that ensures the putter face is square to the line at impact with the ball.  

How do you "groove" that stroke-  practice, practice, practice.  But the practice needs to be perfect!!  That means that the area you are practicing on needs to have no incline towards or away from your feet  - so the area where you strike the ball needs to be flat!! 

Uphill/downhill makes no difference, but the ball being in an area where there is a slope towards or away from your feet will affect your understanding of how you actually stroked the ball!

An example you want to avoid:  there is a slight slope from the ball towards your feet. You stroke the ball and it goes squarely down the line of your putter face stroke.  Are you "grooving" a good stroke? NO!  If the incline was towards you and the ball went straight, then your putter face had to be slightly open - otherwise, the ball should have gone slightly to the left. 

Also, you will see immediately after each stroke what your putter face position was in relation to squareness at impact: if you are even 1/4 of one degree open or closed, the ball will not be rolling down the middle of the stick but more along the edge. If the putter face is open or closed 1/2 of one degree, you will see more of the ball along that particular edge.

His fourth release is a self-titled EP, released March 20, 2012; the first single "My Generation" also appears as part of the American Reunion soundtrack album.[9] His fifth release is the EP Security released on April 8, 2014.

In March 2015, Nicholas appeared on Blues Traveler's album Blow Up the Moon, co-writing the song "All the Way."[10]

Could ‘Unknown Factors’ in Schools Stop Active Shooters in Their Tracks?

Washington, D.C., July 25, 2022 — While politicians wring their hands and debate complex gun control legislation, military expert and historian Dr. William R. Forstchen offers a strategy that could be implemented in time for the upcoming school year.

 “We arm some teachers,” Forstchen said in a recent interview. “We should select people who are ex-military, ex-law enforcement. Train them, train them, train them. Compensate them. Put them in the schools, armed. They become the ‘unknown factor.’ I think this could make a major difference.” 

 Besides exhaustively vetting and evaluating these chosen members of the school faculty, anonymity is paramount. In fact, Forstchen added, “If they ever tell anyone or boast, ‘oh gee I’m armed now,’ fire them. You want these people to be anonymous.” 

Forstchen’s perspective is informed by his 45 years of teaching and by the Beslan school siege in 2004 — an Islamic terror attack against a Russian school that left 333 people dead, including 186 children. 

He believes that arming teachers could serve as a deterrent, or at the very least, a way to stop school shooters in their tracks. 

“They would be the ‘unknown factor’ in every single school,” Forstchen wrote in a recent opinion editorial in The Washington Times. “They would be the men and women who, in those first precious seconds, would react rather than hide, be it against a lone killer or even a trained team of killers. They could buy time for other responders to rush in, rather than wait outside while mayhem runs rampant within.

“They would be the ones who would willingly put their lives on the line … but would be the surprise factor in a school that would fight back when seconds counted. They might not stop, but they would at least slow down an aggressor and buy time for a swift response … In so doing, they just might prevent a Beslan massacre from happening here.”   

The Beslan incident also prompted Forstchen to write the book, Day of Wrath, which presents the unsettling scenario of ISIS-inspired teams launching a coordinated attack on schools — a threat he views as all-too realistic.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Lee attended Tufts University where he received awards for both academic and artistic achievements. ​After graduating Tufts, Dr. Lee subsequently attended the Tufts University School of Medicine where he participated in the MD/MBA program. As a fellow, he served as an assistant team physician for the San Diego State University Aztecs and the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. He is presently team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team, Rock N' Roll Sports Medicine, and Crescenta Valley High School. 

Dr. Lee has a longtime commitment to running. A track athlete in high school, he transitioned to distance running over the years and completed the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007, the Boston Marathon in 2008 and 2010 and the Chicago Marathon in 2013. As a healthcare provider, he has served as a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series Medical Team since 2012. He presently has a passion for running, golf, volleyball, basketball and football.  

A violinist since the age of 4, Dr. Lee has traveled internationally to Europe and South America to give both solo and ensemble performances. He attended the Tanglewood Music Institute on scholarship during the summer of 1996 and continued his musical studies while at Tufts, winning the University Concerto Competition in 1998 and 2001. He has been the fortunate recipient of the Jacob Swartz Young Artist Award for solo performance and the Eugene Lehner Chamber Music Award as a member of the Rackwick Quartet.

Dr. Lee has several research interests and has published in major orthopaedic journals and presented at national meetings. He currently has active projects in ACL reconstruction, shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder arthroscopy, overhead athletes, post-operative pain management, MRI, meniscus repair and biceps pathology.

Deana Martin was born in Manhattan to Dean Martin and his first wife, Elizabeth Anne "Betty" McDonald. She moved to Beverly Hills, California, with her family by the age of one. She later went to live with her father and his second wife, Jeanne Biegger. During her childhood, it was not unusual for his Rat Packfriends, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., to visit. Being around them persuaded her to pursue a career in entertainment.

Martin trained professionally at the Dartington College of Arts in the United Kingdom.[3] Her theatrical credits include Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet, and A Taste of Honey.[4] She co-starred in the National Broadway tour of Neil Simon's play Star Spangled Girl with George Hamilton and Jimmy Boyd. Other starring roles include Wait Until Dark, 6 Rms Riv Vu, A Shot in the Dark, and The Tunnel of Love. She made her major motion picture debut in Young Billy Young with Robert Mitchum, David Carradine, and Angie Dickinson. This debut led to starring roles in the films Strangers at Sunrise with George Montgomery and A Voice in the Night with Vito Scotti.

She made her television debut in 1966 on The Dean Martin Show.  She was a frequent guest, performing in musical and comedy numbers with a wide array of entertainers, including Frank Sinatra.

She also appeared on A&E Biography, Access Hollywood, CBS Sunday Morning, Country Music Television, E! Entertainment Television, Entertainment Tonight, Larry King Live, Live with Regis & Kelly, Sky Italia, The Bonnie Hunt Show, The Dating Game (where she chose Steve Martinas her date),[11] The Monkees, The Today Show, The Tony Danza Show, The Big Breakfast, and Bruce Forsyth On Vegas. For four seasons she hosted The Deana Martin Show.

Since 2021 Martin has hosted Dean and Deana Martin's Nightcap on WABC-770 AM in New York.

Martin began her recording career with producer Lee Hazlewood at Reprise Records. The recordings included her country music hit "Girl of the Month Club" while she was a teenager. Other tunes were "When He Remembers Me", "Baby I See You", and "The Bottom of My Mind", all recorded during the 1960s. Musicians from the Wrecking Crew, including Glen Campbell, played on these recordings.

Memories Are Made of This was released in 2006. She covered some of her father's hit songs, including the title cut and "Everybody Loves Somebody", "That's Amore", "Just Bummin' Around", and "For Your Love" written by her mother Betty Martin. She also sang a duet with her father's former comedy partner Jerry Lewis on "Time After Time." The album was produced by her husband John Griffeth and reached the iTunes Top 10 chart, where it remained for 40 weeks throughout 2006 and 2007.

By 2008, after her tour, she was ready to record again. She went into the studio at Capitol Records with the same personnel to record Volare, released in 2009. It debuted at number seven on the Billboard magazine Heat Seek chart, reached No. 22 on the magazine's Jazz Albums Chart, and appeared in the iTunes Top 10 chart.The song "Volare" peaked at No. 40 in Billboard magazine.

 Martin was back in the studio working on Destination Moon (2013). Her fourth album includes "Break It to Me Gently", "I Love Being Here With You", and "Beyond the Sea" and four new songs: "Read Between the Lines", "Where Did You Learn to Love Like That", "Paradise", and "Stuck in a Dream with Me". David Langer, MD, is the chair of neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, vice president of neurosurgery for Northwell Health’s Western region. A renowned neurosurgeon and expert in cerebral revascularization, he treats patients who have brain tumors, including acoustic neuromas and meningiomas, and cerebrovascular conditions such aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and Moyamoya disease. He also treats minimally invasive spine, spinal cord injury and AVMs.

Discussing AJ'S shoulder tears/Importance of PT and the SUPER BOWL with injured quarterbacks fighting through the pain for a championship.

Dr. Christopher S. Lee is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint and cartilage preservation as well as shoulder and knee replacements. He is the team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team and will be traveling with the team to Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Lee attended Tufts University where he received awards for both academic and artistic achievements. While in college, he had the unique opportunity of studying abroad in China where he studied Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Literature at Peking University.

​After graduating Tufts, Dr. Lee subsequently attended the Tufts University School of Medicine where he participated in the MD/MBA program. After completing the Tufts Combined Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, he then received his fellowship training at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship where he trained with international pioneers in sports medicine, arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery. 

As a fellow, he served as an assistant team physician for the San Diego State University Aztecs and the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. He is presently team physician for the USA National Indoor Volleyball Team, Rock N' Roll Sports Medicine, and Crescenta Valley High School. 

Dr. Lee has a longtime commitment to running. A track athlete in high school, he transitioned to distance running over the years and completed the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007, the Boston Marathon in 2008 and 2010 and the Chicago Marathon in 2013. As a healthcare provider, he has served as a member of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series Medical Team since 2012. He presently has a passion for running, golf, volleyball, basketball and football.  

A violinist since the age of 4, Dr. Lee has traveled internationally to Europe and South America to give both solo and ensemble performances. He attended the Tanglewood Music Institute on scholarship during the summer of 1996 and continued his musical studies while at Tufts, winning the University Concerto Competition in 1998 and 2001. He has been the fortunate recipient of the Jacob Swartz Young Artist Award for solo performance and the Eugene Lehner Chamber Music Award as a member of the Rackwick Quartet.

Dr. Lee has several research interests and has published in major orthopaedic journals and presented at national meetings. He currently has active projects in ACL reconstruction, shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder arthroscopy, overhead athletes, post-operative pain management, MRI, meniscus repair and biceps pathology.

The course hugs the shoreline before winding its way to the West Maui Mountain foothills. Arnold Palmer called the 18th hole (par 4) one of the best and most challenging finishing holes he’d ever played. The 449-yard hole plays longer than it looks, hugging the brackish water canal the entire length of the fairway and green, making it a memorable last hole.

Former professional American football player who played safety for the Toronto Argonauts in 1978, the San Francisco 49ers from 1979 to 1985, and for the Indianapolis Colts in 1986.

A four-time Pro Bowl selection from 1981 to 1984, Hicks was a key player on the 49ers dynasty in the 1980s, assisting his team to NFL Championship wins in Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XIX. In the 1981 season, Hicks led the NFL in interceptions (9) and return yards (239), and went on to make a big impact in the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. After the 49ers lost a fumble on the opening kickoff, the Bengals had a great scoring opportunity and drove to San Francisco 5-yard line. However, Hicks made a clutch interception to prevent the Bengals from scoring. His interception set up a 49ers touchdown on their ensuing drive and helped San Francisco build up a 20–0 lead at halftime, eventually winning the game 26–21.

Hicks arrived with the 49ers merely by happenstance. Hicks was one of a bevy of defensive backs used by the 49ers during the 1979 and 1980 NFL seasons. Before being signed by the 49ers, John Facenda noted in a team highlight film that Hicks was "Managing a health food store" in Detroit. Hicks, who was interviewed for the America's Game episode focusing on the 49ers Super Bowl XIX champions, notes that Facenda was wrong. Hicks was simply working in the stock room of a health food store at the time of his signing. Only 25 years old, Hicks found himself suddenly the veteran leader of the 49ers secondary in the 1981 season, when the 49ers decided to rebuild their defensive backfield through the draft. Playing in only his second full season, Hicks was considered the leader of a secondary that also featured rookies Ronnie Lott, Eric Wright and Carlton Williamson. The young, but hard-hitting secondary would affectionately be known as "Dwight Hicks and his Hot Licks".[citation needed] Despite this lack of experience, the 49ers defense ranked among the best in the NFL and spurred the 49ers on to a surprising victory in Super Bowl XVI.

Hicks was the Defensive Captain of the 49ers team that won Super Bowl XIX following the 1984 NFL season. Following a last-minute defeat to the Washington Redskins in the 1983 NFC Championship Game, Hicks delivered an impassioned speech to his crestfallen teammates, asking them to "Remember the feeling." Buoyed by Hicks' speech, the 1984 49ers rampaged through the season, finishing with a 15–1 record and breezing through the playoffs en route to a 38–16 victory over the Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl.

Getting children into healthy eating habits can feel like a never-ending battle, with a new poll of 1,020 American parents showing that two-thirds (66%) argue with their children over mealtimes on average twice a week.

While parents are desperate for their children to be more adventurous, 79% find themselves cooking the same meals over and over again, and 16% admitted that they have given up even trying to get their children to try new foods altogether.

Dreams of their children enjoying quinoa, steamed broccoli and sautéed spinach have gone out of the window, with many reporting that their children would turn their nose up at anything new – causing 55% of parents to feel embarrassed by their children’s diet.

Mealtime anxiety is something experienced by most parents, with 66% saying they often have arguments, 57% negotiating with their children over what they will and won’t eat, and 29% of parents saying they often feel upset that their children won’t even try the meal they have cooked for them.

Almost all (98%) parents said it was important to them that their children eat healthily, but 35% are still not managing to get five fruits and vegetables into their children’s diet every day.

Here's a few ideas to help parents feed their children healthier food:

 Keep unhealthy foods out of the house as much as possible. If it isn’t in the cupboard it won’t get eaten.

1. Be a good role model. Let your child see you eating (and enjoying) healthy foods.
2. You will probably have eaten lots of meals together as a family over the Holidays. Try to keep this up this year.
3. Don’t ban sweets and treats altogether – It just makes children want them more. But try offering fresh or dried fruit as a treat for a change.
4. Be positive – talk about how tasty and delicious healthy foods are.
5. Use apps like Teach Your Monster’s ‘Adventurous Eating’ game to help your child get excited about fruit and vegetables in a fun way.
