If your business is short on skilled workers or if you are an international graduate in Canada with a PGWP than perhaps you should connect with each other. A Post-Graduate Worker Permit is permitted to those individuals who have come to Canada and successfully completed a college or university program. People who hold a PGWP are hard-working and driven people who would love to stay and work in Canada. Seeing that businesses throughout the prairies are struggling to obtain skilled workers this is a great opportunity for you to attract these motivated individuals. Further as an employer you can nominate the skilled worker for Permanent Residency with no cost to you! It truly is a win-win, what business doesn't want a hard-working, motivated employee and what international graduate doesn't want a great career to live and work on in the Prairies! Why is housing so cheap & still there is lots of opportunity in Hazlet?  Why invest in this region? Why move here? Why immigrate here? So many questions yet the answers can be found in this podcast!

Lindsay Alban loves rural life and living in her hometown, Hazlet,  but she wants to share this all with you! Did you know Hazlet is home for many international students from around the world, join us as she speaks about the Chinook International Program.  Alban will also let us in on the fact that for a lovely three bedroom home in her area is about $500, 000 less then the national average and there are plenty of employment as well as business opportunities. Beyond affordable housing, excellent income potential along with the quality of life that offers short commutes and lots of recreational opportunities, Hazlet is definitely a community you need to check out! This town & their region don't just stop at being rural innovators that welcome students from around the world; they have other cool projects like clean sustainable technology. 10 Jun 2024S5 Ep5: Canada's Rural Immigration Pilot - Is your prairie community ready?00:25:21
Join me as I take an in-depth look at the IRCC's Rural Community Immigration Pilot specifically the Call For Proposals (CFP). This episode is great for those communities interested in applying and those newcomers who want to know how this initiative will work.

I will walk through each of the topics within the CFP and provide a bit of insight into how immigration works, why this will benefit rural communities and get into detail of what IRCC is expecting. I will also give my thoughts as to perhaps why some communities may just be better positioned than others.

The rural community immigration pilot aims to ensure that rural communities continue to have the ability to access programs that address labour shortages and help local businesses find the workers they need. It will provide pathways to permanent residence for newcomers who can help to overcome critical labour job shortages and want to live long term in these smaller communities.

The successful communities will launch their own immigration initiatives in the fall of 2024. In a future episode I will look at how this process may work for those in Canada but are here temporarily. Being a rural person who currently lives & works in a rural Canadian town I will give you an insight into rural Canada and its possibilities!

  • Make sure you have an inventory of your community's infrastructure & social services;
  • Ensure that every partner understand their role in the project.
Highlights

4:27 How this pilot could benefit the communities.

5:10 Not every community should be applying.

16:14 What is IRCC's role?

10:46 Letters of Support from various stakeholders.

18:23 The basic criteria.

If you are looking to immigrate to Canada or relocate from a major urban center to a smaller community then press play. In "Let's find your Canadian town" podcast series. We look at what some people never consider and that is the importance of the "great outdoors" as well as we review the benefits of living in an affordable town.

Sure my podcast covers immigration issues and pathways but I truly feel there is a lack of understanding and awareness of all the opportunities in a small town! With this in mind, I want to introduce you to the benefits and get to know rural Canada a bit better.

I hope you take some time to join me, your prairie girl, Lindsay Rubeniuk, to discover the great life that is waiting for you!
