Conflict is inevitable whenever humans are in communion together.  However, it can be an opportunity for growth rather than a cause for division. While it is not easy, by following God’s principles, it is possible to find a way through conflict and experience God’s blessing.

Investment! As leaders, we all want and need the families in our co-op to step up, to volunteer, to stay invested.  But how do we achieve this?  How do we motivate parents to stay involved and to step up and willingly volunteer their time and effort to our co-op?  Two weeks ago we talked about the absolute must of intentionally creating a culture of LISTENING to your families.  Today we are going to talk about another way you can walk that out - by encouraging your families to teach unique classes.  If you haven’t listened to Episode 51 yet, make sure you go back and listen to the why and how to make sure you are hearing from your families.  And stick with us today - we hope this discussion will spur some great ideas for you for your own co-op!

Happy End of the Year! Homeschool mama! You made it! Are you SOOOO ready for a break? Us too! It’s so tempting to just put away all the school stuff for the year and not think about anything related to homeschool or community or planning. . . We all need a break.  But just closing the books and not looking at or thinking about them again is probably not the best approach to your year end. In this episode, we want to encourage you to take the time needed to end your year well.  Now is the time to reflect back on the year and record what went well and what could be improved upon.  To give thanks for the growth and look for areas that still need to change.  To solicit feedback and process.  In this episode, we give some suggestions on how you can end your year well, and truly rest during this break.

Sometimes this “spirit of fear” overcomes us, and to overcome it we need to trust in and love God more completely. “There is no fear in love. 

Are you homeschooling on your own and wish you had a community of believers to do life with? Do you desire deep relationships but have not found them in your neighborhood, or even at your church?  Are your kids feeling isolated and settling for hanging out with kids just because they are in the neighborhood, but not because they are good friends?

In this episode, we want to explore what you should find in a Christian homeschool community.  And if something like this doesn’t exist near you, rest assured you are not the only one who is looking for it! Maybe you are being called to start something so that you and your children can thrive in your homeschooling!

By now you should be very clear about who you are and have a few key words or phrases that you can use to start creating your mission statement.  If you have not done this first step, make sure you go back and listen to Part One of this series which is Episode 8.  "Who you are" defines your foundational beliefs. "What you do" determines how you live out those beliefs in your community.  Your Mission Statement is one of the most valuable tools you will use to help you establish and guide your community.

Is conflict destroying relationships in your community?  Are offenses creating division?  Feeling at a loss as a leader? What if I told you there is a way to grow through conflict rather than be destroyed by it.  

Conflict is inevitable whenever humans are in communion together.  However, it can be an opportunity for growth rather than a cause for division. While it is not easy, by following God’s principles, it is possible to find a way through conflict and experience God’s blessing.  

Why do you need a conflict policy?

1. Conflict is inevitable.  James 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder . . . 

James 4:1  What causes quarrels and causes fights among you? You desire and do not have . . . you covet and you do not obtain.  

2. Preparation is necessary. Don’t want to be caught unprepared.  Just when you think all is well, something will come up. 

3. The Word is your guide, especially when emotions are high. Emotions can be unreliable. 

4. The process is clear. Everyone knows what to expect when conflict happens.  Policy should have clear steps to follow. 

5. Resolution is possible. Set your community up for success. 

 

Christ's Example of Humility Philippians 2:1-7 2 Therefore if there is any [a]consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,[a] 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[b] 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[c] being born in the likeness of men.

How are you doing homeschool mama?  Do your kids (and maybe you) have spring fever?   Have you been deep in the trenches with your homeschool co-op and are just READY to be done with this year?  AND are you already anticipating next year - because it seems like the planning and registering and “need to know what next year is going to look like” comes earlier and earlier each year but you STILL have to finish this year and you have to test your kids and plan for summer and start your garden and ALL THE THINGS!  Whew! What’s a homeschooling mom going to do to survive?! Today we hope to take a minute to slow down, take a deep breath, and focus on the Word so we can have a successful, sustainable end-of-the-year plan.    

Bible verse: Galatians 6:8-9 says “ A man reaps what he sows.  The one who sows to please his sinful nature will reap destruction, the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Do you have students in your co-op with bad behavior?  Are your teachers and mentors frustrated with lack of classroom management? Are they feeling helpless?  What if I told you that it is in your power to reframe your mindset and turn the situation around.  Be ready to be mind-blown in order to make this shift.  

How many of you have had a student in your co-op that has become the target of disapproval, has gained the reputation of being a problem, or you have had to lead a classroom where you know you have a student that is going to be disruptive and you don’t know what to do about it.  In this episode, we are going to be addressing this very difficult and emotional topic - we would like to give you a different way of looking at what might be called “bad behavior”

 Leadership is all about serving and oftentimes we forget that not only are we serving our co-op but we are serving our families, churches and communities as well.  It’s super easy to neglect ourselves and end up in an energy deficit. Faith over fear is a decision we make before the struggles hit. It’s seeking the Lord knowing He hears, and trusting Him knowing He will deliver and help. Sometimes we forget He helps. We forget He is the deliverer. So we wrestle with trying to figure everything out on our own. All along God is waiting and ready to hear our cry and our prayer.
