The bridge crew consisting of myself (Craig), Sandy, Angus and Natalie reassembled to complete our discussions of the rebooted Star Trek films by talking about Star Trek Beyond. The review of the film can be found here. Please be advised that there are significant spoilers for the film but the audio does forewarn you of that so there's no chance of accidentally being spoiled when listening. There are some audio issues from Angus and Natalie mostly due to a dodgy internet connection but the majority of what they said still comes through clearly enough. Recently I had the opportunity to catch up with Clancy Brown in a round table scenario. He was attending the 70th Edinburgh International Film Festival to promote the 4K restoration of Highlander. He did a Q&A at the screening, attended a Ceilidh and generally enjoyed being back in Scotland after being away for so long. Joining me on the round table were Matthew from SciFiNow, Dave from Hop and Pop (hasn't launched yet), Michael from Screenkicker, George from an outlet I can't make out from the audio and Claudia from Film News UK and MovieStar Magazine. Everyone had an opportunity to speak and Clancy was more than happy to answer any questions. I'm ashamed to say that I couldn't think of the actress who played the animated version of Lois Lane despite how formative I found that animated show. It was, of course, Dana Delaney. How could I forget that? In fairness, Clancy did too. The 4K restoration of Highlander looks stunning and can be seen a few more times throughout Scotland over the next couple of months. Recently history was made with the casting of the new Doctor in the long running science fiction series Doctor Who. It made history because the new Doctor is a woman and will be played by Broadchurch and Adult Life Skills actress Jodie Whittaker. Her casting marks a massive shift for the show and this led to a conversation between Craig and Kat taking place once there had been time to reflect on it. The conversation covers their feelings on the casting and descends into speculation of what that could mean for the show. The latest edition of Kneel Before Pod brought together me (Craig) and Chris to talk about the recent TV crossover event that brought together The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow to take on invading aliens. It was exciting to see how these characters would work together in a sprawling story that takes place across three episodes of television. It was so exciting that Chris and I just had to talk about it and we cover the events depicted in some detail. Many things are covered such as how well Kara gets along with everyone, Ray's issues around who he is attracted to, how aliens appearing in traffic get covered up and the ease of multiverse travel. Recently, Craig caught up with David Haydn-Jones. He plays Mr. Ketch, British Men of Letters Agent in current episodes of Supernatural. The conversation covered everything from the start of his career to the present day including guest spots on Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as his experience with former Pink Power Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson. Another milestone has been reached for Kneel Before Blog. The website is now on 1000 posts and I'm absolutely delighted by the progress that has been made to get us here. Kneel Before Blog is something that I started on my own but over the years I have recruited other people to help me by supplying other content. The website wouldn't be at this stage without that help so a lot of credit should be given to Aaron, Angus, Natalie, Gwen, Jordan, Simon, Urfa and Graeme for taking time out of their lives to provide their own takes on media that they have consumed. For the 1000th post I really wanted to celebrate the team rather than myself because it's 1000 posts of collective content rather than just me so Gwen suggested the idea of doing a podcast where people can listen and "meet the team" so to speak. I thought it was a great idea and decided to try to make it happen. As you might expect not everyone could make it but Aaron, Gwen, Natalie and Angus managed to make themselves available for a live discussion and Graeme was able to record his input as well so we had a decent showing. I personally wanted to enjoy the celebration so I handed over hosting duties to author Stewart Bint who was kind enough to step in at the list minute. You can find him on twitter or on his own website. His job was to keep things moving along and he did it wonderfully. The whole thing is pretty self indulgent but since it's a celebration I'd say it fits nicely. Hopefully people can listen along and get an idea of who the people behind the articles being read are. We had a great time doing it and hopefully people will get something out of listening to it. If not then it's something just for us. Not everything went perfectly because nothing ever does. I personally had a cold which explains why I sound more ridiculous than usual and there are some audio issues that creep in here and there as well as my phone going off early on because I forgot to put it on silent but everything came together well considering. Recently I had the opportunity to join in a round table with Kevin Smith and his daughter Harley Quinn Smith. I was fortunate enough to be one of the few who managed to get a question in. In the round table Kevin's career as well as his current film Yoga Hosers was discussed among many other things. Recently Craig caught up with Star Trek Voyager actor Manu Intiraymi to talk about his career as well as his current science fiction project, The Circuit. The conversation covered a lot of ground from what inspired him to acting to how he landed his roles and his time on Star Trek Voyager. They also talked at length about The Circuit and what ultimately inspired that. He's an interesting guy with a lot to say and is very passionate about science fiction. Recently I managed to make my inner child very happy by scoring an interview with the man behind the 90s animated series simply called Spider-Man. As I pointed out repeatedly in my article celebrating my top 12 episodes of the show I was -and still am- a huge fan of this series so having the opportunity to pick the brain of the man who brought this to life was a great experience for me. John is in the midst of an Indiegogo Campaign to fund a new project of his named War of the Rocketmen, we talk about it during the interview and I would urge you to donate to make this possible. There are only a few days left at time of writing so if you hurry then we can see this thing get made. Donations earn you lots of great perks, not least of which is the lost episode of Spider-Man where fans can finally learn if Peter managed to reunite with Mary Jane. Recently Jeff Teravainen was able to give up some of his time to talk to Craig about his life and career. Jeff is currently starring as Lieutenant Anders on the SyFy show Dark Matter reviewed on this site by Aaron. Fans of the show will recognise him as Lieutenant Anders. People may also know him as Agent Stack on 12 Monkeys. He had a lot to share about his life and career including his time as the frontrunner of a band and his interest in palaeontology. I hope he has a lot of success in his career and that his auditions go well. I had the opportunity to interview several people involved with the film Jet Trash. In attendance were actors Osy Ikhile and Robert Sheehan as well as director Charlie Belleville and producer Andy Brunskill. Each of them were kind enough to give me their time and talk openly about the film. There are plenty of good anecdotes about drugged cows and other general silliness that went on in the making of the film. Jet Trash had its world premier in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival which was a real treat for director Charlie Belleville as he got to bring his work home and show it in his home city. There isn't much else to say beyond what it said in the various interviews so I hope you enjoy. My interview with Osy comes first followed by the Charlie and Andy coming in at 07:10 and Robert Sheehan closes it off starting at 21:55. In 2008 and animated Spider-Man TV series started by the name of Spectacular Spider-Man. It was a well developed and respectful adaptation of the iconic Marvel character. It made such an impression on Craig and Aaron that they just had to record their thoughts on the show overall. They cover everything from the characterisation of Peter Parker, the villains he encounters and the supporting characters that populate his world. Craig was able to make comparisons to the comics and Aaron was on hand to gush about how much better it is than many adult targeted TV shows that he watches. The podcast has reached the massive milestone of 100 episodes -not including interviews or episodes that were split- and as a celebration as many people as possible got together in the same room to record a celebration of everything that we've done up to this point. Some of it was live on facebook back in August as a tease of what content was to come and now the entirety of the recording is ready to share with the world. We take audience questions, discuss scenarios posed by celebrity guests, recall our favourite memories, play silly games and dig into what everyone does outside of the podcasts. A big thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years the podcast has been in existence and we look forward to whatever the future may bring for us...hopefully a musical episode. Show Notes
