How we present ourselves and determine personal style (if you can even call it that) has become ever expansive to include more items and aspects of everyday life. Though it is not fair by any means, how you dress does matter, at least to the outside world - but we can make the conscious choice to prioritize cultivating our own perspective regardless of whether or not that aligns with our immediate environment, type beat. I'd love to hear about what style and fashion means to you, and the thought process (or lack thereof, I think both are equally valid) behind how you represent yourself visually.

Von Dutch + Club Classics are absolutely on repeat, 360 is the daily prayer-- I finally have succumbed to the world of CharliXCX and wow this album has very much sold me-- Charli occupies a unique space in the pop landscape where she has larger, mainstream leverage while still maintaining her native sense of experimentation. 

While some may feel left out of the music, I think her strength lies in creating music for a very specific audience, using her well-earned respect to bring up unseen voices along the way.

Guts by miss Olivia Rodrigo, I kid you not, has dominated my on repeat ever since it came out. As more of us become creators and being online become more ubiquitous, I'm kind of worried about the effectiveness of rage baiting and how we reward certain behaviors algorithmically. Authenticity in entertainment has always been interesting, but especially so when we're all aware a couple of million views could be the block between you and money. Okay Kaya recently released her latest album, "Oh My God - That's So Me" but has been making beautiful, unique work for a while now with SAP, Watch This Liquid Pour Itself, Surviving Is the New Living, and Both. With tracks like Psych Ward, The Groke, Insert Generic Name, IUD, Comic Sans, Baked Bean, In Regards to Your Tweet, and Baked Beans it's hard not to understand the magic of Okay Kaya's charm and comedy but nevertheless I'm very excited to see how she grows and develops over the next couple of years!

I've been hearing a lot about main character syndrome, main character energy, the what about me effect, pick me, etc. which I do think can bring about a lot of positive change for people. From fashion, film, visual art, to music, the starving artist is very much a thing. Santigold, Elena Velez etc. are, actual superstars struggling to make ends meet and they aren't alone-- they're just brave enough to talk about it. I don't think most artists go into the profession expecting to strike riches, but it's quite surprising just how difficult it is just to make minimum wage in some of the disciplines we hold so dear. Fame does not equal funded. I'm excited that it seems across the board we're having a bit of a reckoning with labor conditions/pay transparency, so definitely hopeful for an eventual actual creative middle class? We shall see. In any case, it's important to remember to separate your art's worth and your self-worth from the numbers behind it. Would love to hear your thoughts/any personal anecdotes you have! I can primarily speak to music, but would love to hear especially from those in other industries.

One of the greatest paradoxes as an artist is finding the will and way to sustain yourself all while keeping that dream alive. While I do think there's a place for manifestation and unbridled optimism when it comes to art, I see so many folks become discouraged or misguided by a belief that creation in itself will bring them immediate success. Holding a day job isn't about putting your art in the backseat, it's understanding that in order to create to your highest capacity, you have to take care of you first, especially in a generally hostile atmosphere monetarily speaking for the bulk of working artists in today's day and age. Lorde is love, Lorde is life. I am a Solar Power defender, a Melodrama Obsessor, and a Pure Heroine purist. I am very much invested in the Lorde dynasty, and am so FOR the multifaceted artist. We love miss Lorde. So ready for Silver Moon still WAITING for precious metals. But yes, Lorde was quite literally the first artist who really changed my life and has most certainly shaped who I am today as an artist. Magdalena Bay just put out their second album, Imaginal Disk following Mercurial World. These two are just starting to get some mainstream attention, but it's worth noting that they have been releasing music since 2016 and have consistently been fantastic. Some of my favorite tracks include Hysterical Us, Secrets, Turning Off the Rain, You Lose, Image, and Killing Time but it's easy to find something for everyone in their discography. I highly admire their creative persistence and homegrown operation! Woohoo!

Airbnb Icons just dropped and I am fascinated! Between Shrek's Swamp, the Barbie Mansion, the UP House, and Doja Cat there is a surprising array of experiences. While I don't take issue with most of these experiences, I think it's a great vehicle to discuss housing as entertainment, almost like the Mr.Beastification of a territory that should ideally be a human right. Same goes for the likes of AD tours, Selling Sunset, etc., which I admittedly very much enjoy! The corporatization of housing is nothing new, but it has drastically increased over the past two decades and so many are feeling the heat.
