17 Mar 2021EP # 109 | Theory vs. Theology02:14:53
The evangelical church is at a crossroads. It’s not the first time. Worldly philosophies, such as Critical Race Theory and the ‘social gospel’ are distracting the church from its fundamental mission: proclaiming the evangel—the good news—of salvation in Jesus Christ to unbelieving sinners. In this ‘freestyle’ episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker look to Scripture as they consider the issue of which road the church will take: theory or theology.

16 Mar 2022EP # 117 | Evangelical Deconstructionism03:21:16

In Colossians 2:8, the apostle Paul exhorts believers to not be taken captive through philosophies and deceptions that are rooted in the traditions of men. Deconstruction, a philosophy that has its origins in Marxism, is one of those deceptions. And yet, there are those within evangelicalism today who are actively promoting and advocating that deconstruction is good and virtuous for the church. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil ‘Omaha’ Walker make it clear that they do not concur with that view. Listen as they “turn pages” and discuss what God’s Word has to say about “Evangelical Deconstructionism.” That’s the title of episode 117 of the Just Thinking podcast.

12 Jan 2022EP # 116 | The Church and Culture02:49:10

We hear that phrase that Christians are 'in the world, but not of the world'—but do we really understand what is meant by that? Do we have any idea from where that concept is derived in Scripture? In this episode of the Just Thinking Podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker look closely at what Christ meant by this phrase. This episode takes a close look a the "Church and Culture."

12 Oct 2022EP # 120 | Indwelling Sin in Believers02:39:44

Disclaimer: This episode of the Just Thinking podcast contains material that may not be suitable for young children. Parental discretion is strongly advised.

Indwelling sin. It is a reality that professing believers in Jesus Christ must deal with until the day we die or Christ returns to take us home to heaven. But how are we to deal biblically with that reality? How can we, as possessors of a new nature in Christ, navigate the tension between being regenerate while having remaining sin within us? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker look to God’s Word for answers in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled Indwelling Sin in Believers.

22 Nov 2023EP # 125 | The Enneagram and the Gospel03:03:06

The Enneagram. What is it? What are its origins? Why is it gaining popularity within the evangelical church? And why should believers in Jesus Christ care about such questions as these? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker provide you with biblical answers to those important questions in episode #125 of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “The Enneagram and the Gospel.”

09 Dec 2020EP # 106 | A Biblical Exposition of Unity02:29:48
Subsequent to the presidential election held in the United States on November 3, 2020, many evangelical leaders, primarily on social media, began exhorting Christians to come together in a spirit of unity around the presumed incoming administration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Notwithstanding that, officially, the outcome of the aforementioned contest had yet to be determined, a fundamental question remains: What kind of unity is acceptable to the church and, more importantly, to God? In their final episode of the 2020 podcast season, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker answer that question expositionally—and unequivocally—from Scripture.

14 Feb 2024EP # 127 | A Biblical Theology of Abortion (Part 2)01:44:05

In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, co-hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker discuss a biblical theology of abortion from the 3-point thesis that: 1) Abortion is the premeditated murder of unborn image-bearers of God (Gen. 1:27). 2) Murder is sin in God’s sight (Ex. 20:13). 3) In view of numbers 1 and 2, no individual has the right to premeditatedly end the life of an unborn child regardless of the circumstances by which that unborn child is conceived. Additionally, Darrell and Virgil connect the issue of abortion to the historical agenda of feminism and the LGBTQ movement of the 1800s.

14 Jul 2021EP # 112 | Has God Really Said?02:13:43

The topic of 'women preachers' and 'women pastors' has been hotly debated for decades within the evangelical church. Categories such as "complementarian" and "egalitarian" have been created to describe the two primary camps that seem increasingly divided over this subject. However, in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker assert that this topic is not a matter of "ism's," but is a simple question of submission and obedience to the clear teachings of the Word of God. Listen as they look to the Scriptures to answer the age-old question, "Has God Really Said?"

08 Apr 2025EP # 133 | Public Education03:21:51

In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker provide one of the most comprehensive expositions of the history and purpose of public schools you will hear anywhere. Public education was never about education—it was always about indoctrination. Schools don’t merely teach facts; they shape souls. And today, they're molding the children of Christian parents into the image of progressive ideology, not Christ. Parents, ask yourself: Who’s really discipling your kids?

19 Mar 2025EP # 132 | Freestyle Episode02:29:05

The Church is under relentless attack from the culture. That reality should not be surprising to believers in Christ. But how should professing Christians respond biblically to those spiritual, theological, ideological, and philosophical attacks? In this 'freestyle' episode, Darrell and Virgil discuss some of the ways the culture, or what Jesus refers to in John 17:9 as "the world," aims to undermine the gospel and how we can respond to those attacks with the truth.

The road is narrow yet a wide path is making itself known through the adoption of analytical tools as both a means of understating and interpreting Scripture. The world is going it's own way yet may we remain rooted in biblical truth.

20 Nov 2024EP # 131 | Sanctification03:14:17

Sanctification is among the most important yet least-talked about doctrines in evangelicalism today. Why? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil (Omaha) Walker will discuss that topic, looking to what Scripture has to say about what sanctification is, why sanctification matters, how sanctification is accomplished, what sanctification looks like, and what are some hindrances to sanctification in the life of a Christian.

31 Oct 2020EP # 105 | The Doctrine of Elections (Live Recording)02:20:35
In the United States, another major and, potentially divisive, election cycle is upon us. Consequently, the ever-present question has arisen: How are professing Christians to vote? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker look to the Scriptures for answers to that important question, while not mentioning any political candidates by name.

14 Apr 2021EP # 111 | Activist Theology03:24:23

The #LeaveLOUD movement is urging black evangelical Christians to exit white evangelical spaces, primarily on the basis that white evangelical Christians don't recognize or celebrate black evangelical Christians for who they are. But is such a movement biblical? On this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil 'Omaha' Walker take a look at #LeaveLOUD through the broader lens of "activist theology," and Christians who see an activist gospel as a means to achieve a particular end within the Church.

13 Jul 2022EP # 119 | Cultural Denominationalism03:12:47

Does the world have anything to offer the Church today? It appears that some protestant churches, denominations - and their leaders - seem to think so. But to what end? What's the payoff for them? Are there to be no distinctions between the kingdom of darkness (the world) and the kingdom of Light (the Church) in our churches and denominations? Those questions, and others, are the focus of Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled "Cultural Denominationalism."

14 Aug 2024EP # 130 | Freestyle Episode02:22:27

It is a question that seemingly arises during every presidential election cycle: For which candidate should a Christian vote? In 2024, the choice is between sitting Vice President of the United States Kamala Devi Harris and former President of the United States Donald John Trump, each of whose respective platforms, particularly on issues such as abortion, fail to align with a biblical worldview. Given that unfortunate reality, how is a believer in Christ to vote? In this "freestyle" episode, Darrell and Virgil help provide biblical guidance to believers who are attempting to discerningly answer that question for themselves.

06 Dec 2022EP # 121 | A Biblical Theology of Suffering02:26:17

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18, believers in Jesus Christ are to “give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” But does ‘everything’ include giving thanks to God when we suffer? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker look to Scripture for answers to that crucial question.

15 Dec 2021EP # 115 | The Anti-Christ of Black Liberation Theology [Live]00:59:24

With over 5,000+ registered, the 2021 G3 Conference was a massive success and with the theme being - "Christ" - it was great to hear so many great messages on the deity of Christ. With the primary focus on the deity of Christ, Darrell and Virgil took a different route in order to focus on the anti-Christ agenda that is fully at work in the hearts of the "culture" that seeks to elevate "blackness" as it's cultural savior.

Critical Race Theory, or CRT for short, is, for many professing evangelicals today, a philosophy that is steeped in confusion and ambiguity. That is by design. In this expanded episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker spend more than three hours unpacking the origins, tenets, and threats that Critical Race Theory poses not only to the evangelical church, but to society as a whole.

27 Apr 2022EP # 118 | A Biblical Response to Perfectionism02:46:56

Behavioral perfectionism – not to be confused with the doctrine sometimes referred to as Christian perfectionism or sinless perfection – is a sin many professing Christians struggle with (yes, it is a sin). But not only is the individual perfectionist affected by their behavior, so are those who are closest to them. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker leverage their experience as biblical counselors to walk you through what the Word of God, and other trusted biblical sources, have to say about dealing biblically with the issue of behavioral perfectionism toward the goal of gaining victory over it.

18 Aug 2021EP # 113 | Why Are You Afraid?02:50:17

COVID-19, mask mandates, vaccine passports, inflation, job security - these realities and more have many professing Christians today locked in the throes of fear and anxiety about the future. To be sure, not all fear and anxiety Christians experience is sinful, and yet there are times when the fear and anxiety we feel is, in fact, not in keeping with how God would have His people respond. How do you recognize and respond rightly to sinful fear and anxiety? What’s the remedy for overcoming it? Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker consider those crucial questions through the lens of the Word of God in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Why Are You Afraid?”

Is it the same thing as biblical stewardship of the earth and its resources? How are Christians understand what “climate change” is and respond biblically to it? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker take you directly to Scripture to answer those questions, and others, in this expanded episode titled, A Biblical Theology of Climate Change.

Why are black people who are conservative so often labeled an “Uncle Tom” (among other pejorative terms)? Darrell and Virgil take on those questions, and more, in this “burn the ships” episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Black Conservatism.”

In the wake of the killing of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year old black woman, by Louisville, KY police officers on March 13, 2020—and the subsequent decision by a grand jury to not charge the officers with murder—many people, including many professing Christians, are nevertheless calling for “justice” for Breonna Taylor. But was “justice” not done? More importantly, what is “justice” to begin with? What should “justice” actually look like in society? Is “justice” primarily a matter of subjective standards or of objective truth? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil (“Omaha”) Walker bring some hard biblical truths to the issue of “justice” in this special episode of the Just Thinking podcast.

02 May 2018EP # 025 | Artificial Diversity00:53:59

Much is being made today of local church congregations becoming more ethnically diverse, and that ‘white supremacy’ is primarily the reason why “white churches” aren’t more ethnically diverse than they are. But Christ promised that His kingdom would be composed of believers from “every tribe, tongue, and nation”, so what’s really driving this effort to movement to make white congregations less white? Listen as Darrell and Virgil exposit the Scriptures and explain why this is similar to what Booker T. Washington once referred to as “artificial forcing”.

09 May 2018EP # 026 | Ideological Tribalism00:54:00

Why would a 7-word tweet by Kanye West, a black man, be so upsetting to so many black people? And why do black people make other black people pay a price for thinking outside of what is considered to be culturally normative? To answer these questions, Darrell and Virgil take you back to Genesis 1 and discuss, with a little help from Friedrich Nietzsche (of all people), how the ability to use one’s mind and think for one’s self is an evidence of what it means that we are individually and uniquely created in the “image of God”.

16 May 2018EP # 027 | Majoring in the Minors00:54:00

In this episode of Just Thinking, Darrell and Virgil give listeners to the podcast two for one. First, the brothers take a look-see at what the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is doing to promote social justice within its organization, including achieving what its president, Steve Gaines, refers to as a “maximum percentage” of ethnic diversity on the various committees within the group. And if that wasn’t enough SJWism for you, the brothers discuss a move by the University of Connecticut – UConn – to start offering a minor in Social Justice beginning in the fall of 2018. Seriously, you ask? Yes, seriously.

23 May 2018EP # 028 | The Fallacy of “Gun Control”00:57:55

On May 18, 2018, 17-year old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a former student at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, allegedly used a firearm to murder 10 of his classmates and injure 10 others. Predictably, calls from special-interest groups, politicians, and others for tighter “gun control” laws immediately sprang up on social media and in the mainstream media. But are guns actually the problem? Conversely, are more laws the solution? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil tackle these questions through the lens of the gospel and discuss why the real problem dates back to long before guns were ever invented.

30 May 2018EP # 029 | Barna Study on Evangelism00:53:59

The Barna Group recently published a follow-up to a study originally conducted in 1993 about how Christians view their personal responsibility in evangelism and sharing the gospel with others, and the results are disheartening, to say the least. So disheartening, in fact, that Darrell and Virgil considered the study results worth addressing on an episode of the Just Thinking podcast. Listen in as the brothers look deeper into the study results and talk about some reasons why the numbers are on the decline.

06 Jun 2018EP # 030 | Abortion01:28:18

On May 25, 2018, citizens of the Republic of Ireland, in an effort to achieve a “modern Constitution for a modern country”, according to its Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, voted to repeal the 8th Amendment to its Constitution which, since 1983, had outlawed abortion except in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. When the results of the referendum were announced, supporters of the repeal literally celebrated the outcome. Many would say abortion is a solely “women’s issue”. Needless to say, Darrell and Virgil adamantly disagree. Listen as these brothers apply the gospel to this issue and discuss why Ireland legalizing the murder of God’s unborn image bearers makes it a nation more analogous to Old Testament Israel than a “modern” country.

13 Jun 2018EP # 031 | Suicide and the Gospel00:54:00

Recently, celebrities Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, two people who seemingly had it all: wealth, notoriety, and popularity, committed suicide. When a person commits suicide, particularly someone who is well known, invariably the question is asked: Why? Notwithstanding the specific reasons why either Spade or Bourdain would decide to take their life, the gospel has an answer to that question. Listen in as Darrell and Virgil address the topic: Suicide and the Gospel.

20 Jun 2018EP # 032 | False Teachers01:23:50

Since the earliest days of Christianity, false doctrine has been a threat to the gospel of Christ and to His church. This is no less true today as false teachers, from within and without the church, continue to mislead countless souls by deliberately misinterpreting and misconstruing the Scriptures in accordance with their own sinful agendas. How are we, as Christians, to respond to false teachers and the false doctrines they espouse? How can followers of Christ know for certain what is true and what is false? Listen as Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil) look to God’s word for answers to these and other questions concerning false teachers.

27 Jun 2018EP # 033 | Immigration and the Gospel01:15:37

Immigration. It’s today’s “issue du jour” both in the world and in the church. Constant media reports of children being forcibly separated from their families at the border between the United States and Mexico have people around the world, including many Christians, angry and upset about America’s immigration policy. But is it possible to set aside emotions and consider what the Scriptures objectively say about this issue? Listen as Darrell and Virgil attempt to find out what, if anything, the gospel has to say about this issue.

11 Jul 2018EP # 035 | Toward a Pure Church01:36:10

On July 2, 2018, Trinity Church of Portland (Oregon) released a statement announcing the removal of Dr. Art Azurdia from his positions as an elder and Senior Minister of Word and Worship at Trinity Church. This sad news served as the impetus for the Just Thinking podcast addressing the broader issue of sexual immorality within the body of Christ as a whole. Please note that this is an expanded episode of the podcast and that Darrell is flying solo, as his trusty sidekick and wingman ‘Omaha’ (Virgil Walker) is away attending to other priorities over the next couple of weeks. It is our prayer that you will find this episode sobering, yet encouraging and edifying.

18 Jul 2018EP # 036 | Uprooting Anger00:54:00

Sinful anger is a problem for many people, including Christians, perhaps even you. But what is “sinful” anger? How do we discern sinful anger from righteous anger? How are you and I, as Christians, to deal biblically with our sinful anger? Listen in as Darrell flies solo and takes listeners through the Robert D. Jones book ‘Uprooting Anger: Biblical Help For a Common Problem’ in an effort to help us understand better how to deal with our sinful anger in a gospel-centered way.

25 Jul 2018EP # 037 | Call to Pause?00:54:00

A group of evangelical Christians has come together under the banner ‘Call To Pause’ to argue against the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the United States Supreme Court. Their primary rationale is that Kavanaugh’s appointment would be detrimental to the poor and “disenfranchised” and would foster an ongoing “culture war”. Listen as Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (who is back in the saddle after a two-week hiatus from behind the mic) take an in-depth look at what ‘Call To Pause’ is advocating and why.

01 Aug 2018EP # 038 | Revoice Conference00:53:59

On this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss the 2018 Revoice Conference, held in St. Louis, MO on July 26-28, under the mission of: “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex attracted, and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic, Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.” Listen as these brothers, lovingly yet firmly, express their own concerns about how Revoice, and evangelical movements like it, are promoting a different gospel than that to which it claims to subscribe.

08 Aug 2018EP # 039 | Christian Socialism00:53:59

On June 26, 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an avowed Democratic Socialist and active member of the Democratic Socialists of America, defeated incumbent Democrat Joe Crawley in New York City’s 14th District Congressional election. Since then, Ocasio-Cortez has become the new face of socialism in America, attracting support from all walks of life, particularly from Millennials. In this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and Virgil (Omaha) dig deeper into what socialism is (and isn’t), its various types and, more importantly, how the message being propagated by people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is being embraced by many today within the evangelical church.

Key Scripture references for this episode: Ex. 25:2; Acts 2:42-44; 2 Cor. 9:6-7; Ex. 20:15.

15 Aug 2018EP # 040 | Identity Crisis00:54:00

Can one politician affect evangelicals so much that they feel they no longer have a home in the church? Apparently so. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) discuss how one self-described evangelical ‘woman of color’ suddenly feels “homeless”, metaphorically speaking, with Donald Trump in the White House.

Scripture texts: Acts 17:26-27; Col. 3:1-3; 1 Cor. 6:19-20.

22 Aug 2018EP # 041 | The Narrow Road (Part 1)01:14:26

It seems increasing numbers of so-called ‘evangelical’ Christian ministries are buying into a socio-cultural paradigm of Christianity, particularly as it relates to “affirming” professing believers who identify as “same-sex attracted”. One of the ways they do this is by focusing on virtues like ‘community’, ‘unity’, and ‘diversity’. So much so that a ministry based in the United Kingdom has gone as far as encouraging churches to audit themselves to ensure they are being “biblically inclusive”, especially of those who are LGBTQ. Listen in as Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil) discuss their concerns about a “gospel” that embraces a type of salvation without sanctification.

29 Aug 2018EP # 042 | The Narrow Road (Part 2)01:40:40

In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) continue their discussion of Living Out ministry’s 10-question audit, “How Biblically Inclusive Is Your Church?”, which they initially discussed in episode 42, entitled ‘The Narrow Road’. This is an expanded, “double-album” episode in which the aforementioned brothers take the time to exposit each of the 10 “audit statements” one-by-one, and apply gospel-centered context to each statement in the spirit of “speaking the truth in love” (Eph. 4:15).

05 Sep 2018EP # 043 | Aretha Franklin Eulogy00:54:27

The funeral for the “Queen of Soul”, Aretha Franklin, who died on August 16, 2018, was held on August 31, 2018. The Rev. Jasper Williams, pastor in Atlanta, performed the eulogy. In reflecting on Aretha Franklin’s legacy, Williams who, in 1984, eulogized Franklin’s father, Rev. C.L. Franklin, made some rather pointed and blunt comments about the state of the “black community” in America today. In this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil) unpack Williams’ “controversial” remarks and discuss why many within the so-called “black community” are attacking him for being so candid about what he sees as problems facing blacks in America today.

12 Sep 2018EP # 044 | Police Violence01:20:28

In yet another incident of violence involving police and an ethnic minority, Dallas, TX police officer Amber Guyger, has been charged with manslaughter for shooting and killing Mr. Botham Jean. Reportedly, Officer Guyger mistook Mr. Jean’s apartment for her own and shot him when he opened the door to his own residence. In this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil Walker) discuss the concerning circumstances surrounding this incident, while pointing listeners to the truth of the gospel and what is fundamentally important for us, as Christians, to remember in light of this situation: that even police officers are sinners, as are we all, and that our desire for justice must be rooted in God’s standard of righteousness, and not in our ethnicity.

26 Sep 2018EP # 046 | Anne Hathaway: The $35M SJW01:28:56

Recently, actress Anne Hathaway, 35, who, purportedly, is worth upwards of $35M, accepted the National Ally for Equality award from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). But in giving her acceptance speech, Hathaway presented a visage of love and equality that should cause all Christians everywhere to stop and think about what love and equality actually are in reality. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) do just that, as they discuss Hathaway’s subjective, humanistic, and new-age worldview through the objective lens of the truth of Scripture.

03 Oct 2018EP # 047 | Where is Your Hope?01:16:16

It has been said that politics is a dirty business. That truism was put to the test recently, as things turned ugly on Capitol Hill during Senate hearings held amid sexual abuse allegations made against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford. Evangelical Christians have a lot riding on a Kavanaugh confirmation to the Supreme Court, particularly as it relates to the issue of abortion. But what if Kavanaugh is not confirmed? What then? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) remind Christians where – and in whom – their hope should rest in a world in which leaders that are in the highest political positions are affected by sin and evil.

10 Oct 2018EP # 048 | The Church01:09:08

Evangelical social justicians continue to preach that ‘the church should resemble the communities it serves.’ Sounds like a harmless enough idea, but the question is, is it biblical? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil Walker) discuss to what degree, if any, is ethnic diversity within local church congregations mandated in Scripture.

17 Oct 2018EP # 049 | Tribalism & the Imago Dei01:19:20

Recording artist and entrepreneur Kanye West made news – again – recently when he met with President Donald Trump at the White House. But some are asking: why would this make news to begin with? Good question. Why is it considered taboo in some ethnic circles for a black person, like West, to independently form and express political views that are different from other black people, many of whom believe he is obligated to represent because of his ethnicity? Another good question. Listen as Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil Walker) deal with these and other questions through the lens of Scripture.

Key texts: Gen. 1:27; 1 Cor. 12:18, 24-27 (also Jn. 4:40-42, 6:66-69).

24 Oct 2018EP # 050 | Gosnell Movie00:54:01

This week Omaha (Virgil Walker) fly solo. As he examine the atrocities committed by Kermit Gosnell and the movie that bears his name, we recognize a complete media blackout continues. The story of “America’s Biggest Serial Killer” seems to be completely silenced again as a Top 10 movie is being taken down from major screens around the country. Why is this happening? What would cause a profitable movie to get silence? Listen, as we will examine these issues through the lens of a Biblical Worldview to see what Scripture has to say about what’s happening today.

Key texts: Gen 1:26-27; Romans 1:18-23; John 15:18; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10

31 Oct 2018EP # 051 | Ligonier: The State of Theology (Part 1)01:08:37

Recently, Ligonier Ministries released its 2018 ‘State of Theology’ survey, which it conducted in partnership with Lifeway Research (an initial survey was conducted in 2016). To describe the results of the survey as a disheartening reflection of the condition of the evangelical church in America today would be a gross understatement. So disheartening, in fact, that Darrell and ‘Omaha’ (Virgil Walker) have decided to dedicate the next several episode of the Just Thinking broadcast to a discussion of the responses contained in the survey. Listen in as the brothers share their initial thoughts on what the survey says many Americans believe about the deity and nature of Jesus Christ.

28 Nov 2018EP # 055 | The Minds of Black Folk01:19:50

History was almost made recently in the race for governor of Georgia, where the Democrat party nominee Stacey Abrams, a black female, came within less than three percentage points of defeating Republican nominee Brian Kemp, a white male. Apparently, Abrams’ defeat did not set well with many black Democrats, especially when it was revealed that 11 percent of black males supported Kemp. But why would such a thing be seen as problematic to black people? Do they not have the right to vote for the candidate(s) of their choosing? Listen in as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss through the lens of the gospel why this intra-ethnic form of ideological slavery must come to an end – now.

The mother has also stated her intention to have the boy chemically castrated when he turns eight. 19 Dec 2018EP # 058 | SBTS Report on Racism & Slavery00:53:59

Slavery. It’s the sin some evangelical Christians just can’t – or won’t – let go of. In this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and Virgil discuss the ‘Report on Racism & Slavery in the History of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary’ recently released by the under the signature of its president Dr. R. Albert Mohler. In the report, Dr. Mohler acknowledges, confesses, and repents of the complicity of SBTS in fostering a culture of racism in America. But the report isn’t enough for many evangelical social justicians who describe it merely as a “good first step.”

27 Feb 2019EP # 060 | Sexual Sin in the Church01:26:16

Sexual immorality is one of the most devastating sins confronting the church today, destroying marriages, families, and ministries. And yet, despite this reality, sexual sin–both individually and corporately–remains one of the least-addressed sins from the pulpits of evangelical churches today. Listen as Darrell and “Omaha” deal head-on with this destructive sin by reminding believers of the reason they were saved to begin with.

04 Mar 2019EP # 061 | Born-Alive Act01:33:56

Recently, the United States Senate failed to pass the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” or what is commonly known as the “Born-Alive Act”. The legislation, was aimed at protecting the lives of babies who were born alive after surviving an attempted abortion. Notwithstanding the role of elected politicians in failing to pass what appears to most people be the common-sense thing to do, what responsibility, if any, do Christians have in this outcome? Listen as Darrell and Virgil make a case from Scripture that Christians are as much to blame as politicians for what happened in the Senate concerning this legislation.

11 Mar 2019EP # 062 | A Biblical Theology of Socialism01:44:21

To say that socialism is gaining in popularity in the United States would an understatement. But to say the same about the Church is both disheartening and concerning. Why are increasing numbers of professing evangelical Christians attracted to a worldview that is so antithetical to biblical orthodoxy? Listen to this expanded episode as Darrell and Virgil dive deep into the Scriptures and expose socialism for the unbiblical worldview it really is.

20 Mar 2019EP # 063 | Slavery Reparations01:49:47

As the “social gospel” continues to gain traction within contemporary American evangelicalism, increasing numbers of professing Christians are aligning themselves with the idea that black Americans are owed reparations for slavery. But is such an idea biblical? In this expanded episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and Virgil go in-depth to discuss the divisive issue of reparations from both a personal and theological perspective. Listen carefully as what you hear may surprise you.

27 Mar 2019EP # 064 | Worldliness in the Church01:22:26

The late Dr. R.C. Sproul, Sr. once said, “My life didn’t get difficult until I became a Christian.” To be a Christian is, by definition, so separate oneself from his or her former life in the world. And yet, that separation doesn’t come easy as to live in this world is a constant struggle to not be of this world. Listen as Darrell and Virgil discuss the issue of worldliness in terms of what it is and what it means for believers to not succumb to it.

Key text: 1 John 2:15-17.

03 Apr 2019EP # 065 | Capitalism01:08:07

It’s clear, the battle lines have been drawn from the left and the right.  Those on the left believe Socialism is the right path forward.  Those on the right disagree holding to the Capitalism that has made the country prosperous.  The question that needs to be asked has little to do with one’s political affiliation. Instead we should be asking, “What does the Bible have to say about economics?  Has God outlined through the Scriptures the economic path forward for those who believe in Christ?” Listen to this episode as Virgil examines these questions and much more.  Let’s put Capitalism through the lens of a Biblical Worldview.

Key text: Genesis 1:26-28

10 Apr 2019EP # 066 | The Resurrection of Jesus01:20:34

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is unarguably the most central pillar in terms of Christian orthodoxy. For centuries, the Church has had to defend this doctrine against numerous heretical attacks that have come against it. And yet, today, many professing believers fail to grasp the temporal and eternal significance of this momentous event in their personal lives. Listen as Darrell and Virgil (“Omaha”) discuss this most crucial of all Christian doctrines, and why Christians–and the Church–must understand and be prepared to defend the truth about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior.

“Whiteness.” What, if anything, is it, and who, if anyone, is guilty of it? In this episode of the Just Thinking broadcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) look to the Scriptures in discussing the topic of “whiteness” and the influence of Critical Race Theory and Black Liberation Theology in shaping this divisive and God-dishonoring movement within contemporary evangelicalism in America.

29 Dec 2017EP # 007 | Black and Pro-Life01:04:57

Is the term ‘pro-life black person’ an oxymoron? A mirage? A thing of the past? In this episode of Just Thinking, Darrell and Virgil discuss the growing black pro-life movement, a concept which, given how infrequently the terms “black” and “pro-life” are used together, would have many believe it is a contradiction in terms. Additionally, D and V take some time to pay their respects to the late Dr. R.C. Sproul, founder of Ligonier Ministries, who passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, who had an immense spiritual impact on both their lives.

01 May 2019EP # 068 | Singles, Dating and Marriage01:30:42

For countless Christians who are single, being single is more of a dilemma than a calling. Many of them desire to be married and are discontent that God has not made His will clear about whom they are to marry or whether they are to marry at all. So how is a single Christian to navigate between the desire to be married and God’s will? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) discuss this very important topic from a biblical worldview.

15 May 2019EP # 070 | Abortion01:01:18

The issue of abortion seems to be everywhere in the news.  The arguments surrounding the issue are varied.  However, all of them can be summed up in whether or not a human life is destroyed.  In this episode, Virgil Walker (Omaha) walks through the issue and gives you a first-hand account of what it’s like to minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ at an abortion clinic.

05 Jan 2018EP # 008 | Why We Need Police00:53:19

We are all familiar with the adage, “What goes around, comes around.” That seems to be the case in Baltimore, where many black residents and social activists who, subsequent to the death of Freddie Gray in 2015, were demanding the removal of police from their communities, are now pleading for the return of police to those same neighborhoods in response the skyrocketing murder rate in that city. On this episode of Just Thinking, Darrell and Virgil discuss this topic through the lens of the gospel, including the fundamental question of why we need police in the first place. Also, Virgil lamens the loss of his beloved Oklahoma Sooners to Darrell’s Georgia Bulldogs in the Rose Bowl and the fact that his Sooners will have to wait another year to contend for a national championship.

29 May 2019EP # 071 | The Equality Act of 2019 (Part 1)00:54:59

The Equality Act of 2019 is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation to be introduced in Congress in our lifetime. It is dangerous because it will force Christians, under threat of law, to be accommodating of subjective choices regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. And yet many Americans, as well as many Christians, seem to not care. Listen as Darrell and Virgil explain in this two-part series of episodes why you, as a Christian, should care about what is being proposed in the Equality Act of 2019 under the pretense of “civil rights.”

17 Jun 2019EP # 074 | An Unnecessary Debate01:24:00

A debate is brewing, among Christians of various denominational persuasions, on the question of whether women should be ordained as pastors and elders in the church. It is a debate that is dividing family members, friends, and churches. But should there even be a debate at all? Listen as Darrell and Virgil make the case that this debate is an entirely unnecessary one, as Scripture has clearly spoken on the issue.

17 Jul 2019EP # 077 | A Nuanced Gospel?01:09:53

But what does the word “nuance” mean and how does that meaning influence and impact us as evangelicals in terms of how we are to understand and interpret the Word of God? Listen as Darrell and Virgil (Omaha) look to the Scriptures for answers to the question: “A Nuanced Gospel?”

23 Jul 2019EP # 078 | Black Lives Matter and Abortion01:42:18

A recent New York Times article is promoting the decades-long narrative that high abortion rates among black women are the direct result of socio-economic conditions that give those women no choice but to abort their unborn children. It is a narrative that is wholeheartedly embraced by many black Christian leaders today as a matter of “social justice.” But is that narrative biblical? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) look to the Scriptures to understand how believers are to respond when Black Lives Matter is invoked in the abortion debate.

05 Aug 2019EP # 079 | One Church, One Body01:36:28

Unity within the body of Christ continues to be a much-discussed topic among evangelicals today. But as much as it has been talked about in recent years evangelicals, especially in America, continue to be divided, particularly along ethnic lines. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil Walker) argue that such divisions should not exist among believers, as we are all one in Christ.

More than thirty souls have entered into eternity as a result of two mass shootings that occurred recently in the cities of El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. As usual, when such events happen, people react by asking questions and pointing fingers. But how are followers of Christ to respond when incidents like mass shootings happen? Who really is to blame? In this episode Virgil “Omaha” Walker discusses one of the biggest threats to the so-called “black community” and it is not “White Nationalism.”  Virgil walks through the idea that the internal threat impacting the “black community” is Black Nationalism packaged with all kinds of immoral behavior, seemingly ignored, often overlooked, and at times rewarded on the basis of historic racism in America.  Listen as he unpacks this idea in this episode of Just Thinking.

Is it time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges? According to American Sports Journalist Jemele Hill, the answer to this question is, “YES!”  However, this seems to be another form of tribalist separation that has nothing to do with the best interest of the Black Athlete.  Hill has written on the subject and makes her case.  However, in this episode, Virgil “Omaha” examines that Hill’s case to determine if  there’s any merit to her argument.
