14 Mar 2022 | Ep 23 - The Best Reframe for Envy and Comparisonitis | 00:12:59
Is it necessarily bad to feel envious or jealous? Should we really be ashamed of these emotions? Or do they give us a clue of what we truly desire to take action on them? International Women's Day is happening this month and today, I really wanted to do an episode around working collaboratively, supporting each other, and empowering other women, which is a huge value of mine. But as I started to write this episode I wanted to talk about more about the days when you don’t feel like that. In this episode, I talked about the best reframe for envy of comparisonitis that would make room for effectively collaborating and supporting others.
Key takeaways from this episode: Collaborating rather than competing means you really believe there's enough out there for everyone. People can support each other without any agenda. It's normal to feel envious or compare yourself but you can always strive to be the best version of yourself. When you envy someone, you don't necessarily want to take something away from them or wish something bad for them, you envy what they have or how they got it. Jealousy is something you can be curious about or something you can explore. Our emotions make us aware of what we truly desire and we can take action on those desires. When you truly allow yourself to explore your feelings, be human, and be curious about what emotion or belief is telling you then you can make more room for abundance, collaboration, generosity, and supporting others.
Episode Timeline: 0:04 Intro 1:20 Episode Intro 1:50 Collaborating rather than competing 2:28 The joy of supporting and collaborating with others 4:21 Days we don't feel at our best 7:13 The feeling of envy isn't necessarily bad 9:20 The best reframe for comparisonitis 10:12 Why we feel ashamed of being jealous or envious. 11:07 How we can make more room for abundance, collaboration, generosity, and supporting others. 11:59 Outro

28 Mar 2022 | Ep 24 - Using Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping) to Relieve Stress While Achieving Goals - Interview With Jacqui Acree | 00:48:39
Is it really all in the mind? Are we being compassionate and kinder to ourselves if we numb our negative feelings and just keep on going to achieve success? In this episode, I interview Jacqui Acree and she enlightens us about Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or commonly called tapping. She also shares about the self-help industry, the good and the bad.
It’s a great episode. Have a listen.
KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE
Remember to be aware of what our body is telling us. It is not just about positive thinking, working harder, and pushing through.
Failure is a necessary part of success. It's not a failure on one side and success on the other, and you only get one. Failure is part of the experience of success, it's a journey, and you hit failure along the way.
Self-sabotage is a form of protection. When we look at it like that, we can begin to honor its intent and then let it go.
It's so important to be able to permit yourself to feel and feel the things that you feel.
When we numb some feelings, we actually numb all of them. If you numb the "negative feelings" like anxiety, fear, disappointment, we are also numbing joy, maybe pleasure in some way.
Visualizing a hard thing is going to catalyze a stress response in your body. When our body is stressed, it will go to fight or flight, we lose access to our rational perspective, logical brain. And we need those to show up and shine in life, whether business or life in general.
Procrastination is always a stress response.
Emotional Freedom Techniques, commonly called tapping, is a blend of acupressure and psychology.
Emotional Freedom Techniques or tapping can help us go through what our bodies really feel. It helps us better transition to what steps we should take next to achieve our goals.

08 Nov 2022 | Ep 35 - 3 Ways to Monetise your Email List | 00:18:16
You’ve set up your email marketing tech and started emailing your list… now what?
List building and email marketing end up way down on business owners' list of priorities.
I was thinking about how I’m often trying to persuade people that prioritising list building is a good idea, but instead, why don't I show you how you can make money from it? Then that’s much more of an incentive to get going right or finally take it seriously.
In this episode, I talk about The 3 Ways You Can start monetising your list today without a big fancy funnel and loads of tech.
This episode was inspired by a conversation and some longer training inside my ongoing coaching programme, The Online Business Collective.
Key takeaways from this episode:
Fads will come and go but e-mail marketing is always there.
Whenever you're doing something in your business, you need a goal. You need to know why you're doing it.
There isn't just one way of running your business. There are multiple ways.
Having an e-mail list is a tried and tested thing that has been working for many years.
It's important to upgrade your marketing mindset. Start selling in every e-mail.
If you start right from the beginning of talking about your offers in your e-mails, people won't be surprised or offended.
It's possible to add value and be helpful whilst having a very transparent and authentic call to action to sell in your e-mail.
Share your tips and stories and then relate them to something that you sell.
Add a super signature to the bottom of your e-mails.

10 Feb 2021 | Inspiring Women in Business Podcast Trailer | 00:02:32
Hello and welcome to the Inspiring Women in Business podcast. My name is Ruth Gilbey, and I’m a business and marketing coach. I’m on a mission to inspire women to start and play bigger in business. I’ve started this podcast because when I first went all in and left the corporate world to be a freelancer, I was grateful for any work that came my way. I was a new Mum of twins on maternity leave in a recession, Googling jobs that could be done from home and around my family. I remember that low point when someone suggested a job in Sainsbury’s, no disrespect to anyone who works in a supermarket, but my last role was a senior operations manager, managing large teams and big budgets. I’d completely overlooked the 20 years of experience I had running projects and growing businesses. I had vital business experience in accounts, sales, project management, marketing, customer service, and managing teams. However, I disregarded this experience and thought all my skills were irrelevant or out of date. I lost confidence, dumbed down my skills and never even considered being a business owner. I thought this was what other people did. I then got the online courses bug, upskilled in anything and everything to do with digital marketing and reinvented myself as a digital marketer. I defined myself as the last course I did. I always thought I need “just one more course” before I took action. And even though I embrace lifelong learning, I hadn’t done vital work on working out what I wanted, as I’d never permitted myself to have the business I wanted. I had no idea what mindset, imposter syndrome or limiting beliefs meant as it had been 20 years since I’d challenged myself to step out of my comfort zone. In 2017, I finally started listening to that voice that had been telling me for a long time that I wasn’t doing what I loved and wasn’t fulfilling my true potential. It took a critical illness to give me that wake-up call. I don’t want the same to happen to you. You can expect practical advice, inspiring stories and a lot of aha moments as we uncover and kick to the curb all the obstacles you have been putting in your way.

31 May 2021 | Ep 8 - How to Manage Your Mind for Success. Interview With Sam Colclough | 00:29:45
In this episode, Sam Colclough of As Good As Your Mind shares why you need to prioritise managing your mind. She talks about your mind as your biggest asset when making those changes in your business and life. Sam talks about her story, and her hypnosis, solution-focused therapy, and how she’s helped 100s of women including myself show up as the best version of themselves.
Listen and enjoy!
Key takeaways from this episode:
Hypnosis replicates REM (Rapid Eye Movement), the part of the process of our sleep designed to move things around and compartmentalise and make sense of it, naturally reducing what's going on in the stress bucket.
It's not until you have that conscious awareness around what your mind is doing to start to make the change.
Solution-focused therapy is really about empowering the client and helping them understand that they always have the solutions within them, and they've always got the answer.
You are limitless at your core. You are the only person that's stopping you from achieving all of your potentials.
If we stop ourselves from taking action, the primitive mind always wins because it continues to get that evidence that we're not getting what we want. However, there are ways you can manage this.

More about Ruth:
Hi, I’m Ruth, a business coach specialising in helping freelancers and business owners adjust their mindset and their marketing so they can get fully booked with clients they LOVE to work with. I’ve helped hundreds of self-employed women achieve the time and money freedom they craved.
I’ve started this podcast because when I first went all in and left the corporate world to be a freelancer, I was grateful for any work that came my way. After over 20 years of freelancing and working for other people, I started to realize I’d created a glass ceiling for myself.
In 2017, I finally started listening to that voice that had been telling me for a long time that I wasn’t doing what I loved and fulfilling my true potential. It took a critical illness to give me that wake-up call. I don’t want the same to happen to you.
You can expect practical advice, inspiring stories, and a lot of aha moments as we uncover and kick to the curb all the obstacles you have been putting in your way.
I’m on a mission to inspire women to start and play bigger in business.
