Gram was a football hooligan, a regular in prison, an addict and ultimately a destitute tramp, which led to him being in a coma for six days. The doctors called his mother in to agree to switch the machine off, but before they did so she allowed two men to pray over him, and he sat up! 27 years ago, this ‘scum of the earth’ started the most extraordinarily redemptive journey, which has given him the opportunity to work in prisons and schools and show thousands of people that nobody is beyond redemption. Her story involves early-childhood molestation, leaving school at 16, converting to Judaism, violent marriage, divorce, rape, suicide attempts, breakdown, 10 years as a successful businesswoman, gaining a doctorate, hearing the audible voice of God, near-death experiences, starting a charity that has impacted millions of lives by getting Female Genital Mutilation outlawed in various countries, and living actively and still chipper with a terminal illness. Dave Sharples, known locally as "Captain" Dave, has been bringing the hope of Jesus to Liverpool families for nearly three decades. In 2005, Dave developed a tool for evangelism called the4points, to help share the gospel in a simple and memorable way to inner city kids. Dave has seen God turn many lives around, as he has faithfully gone out to pray for families in Toxteth. His heart is very much to see God continue to transform his community, whilst also inspiring and equipping churches and ministries around the world for mission. In 1966, Jackie Pullinger left the UK on a boat, aged 22 and with just £10 in her pocket, not knowing where she’d get off. Docking in Hong Kong, she sensed God saying that was the place. Her work in the Walled City of Kowloon saw triad gang members come to faith, girls rescued out of brothels, and thousands of drug addicts over the ensuing decades being set free. That story was told in the best-selling ‘Chasing the Dragon’, and she’s still in Hong Kong with a network of faithful workers, ministering to many more broken people, living by faith and trusting God to provide for their needs.
