In this episode, we discussed our first steps in Paganism and the Craft, Coven initiation & the turmoil of being a Witch in the South. Our episode started with our beginnings in Michigan & North Carolina and how we came to not only make our home in NEPA but also to found one of the largest & most diverse esoteric/occult boutiques in this part of the country.

On this episode we discussed a number of topics based primarily on herbalism.  This was a truncated version of a soon-to-come series of episodes on Herbalism available on our Patreon.

In this episode, we grabbed a handful of the books found on the top shelf that people look at but don't always recognize for what they are.  From Agrippa to Yeats to the Orphic Hymns - there lies a treasure trove of esoteric knowledge.  The shiny books may be the first ones you read but don't deny yourself the wonder that lies beyond the entry level. 

Not quite bibliomancy as we weren't seeking answers to inquiry; rather, we read through a few passages at random just to demonstrate the sheer amount of information the classic works contain.  

The episode would not be complete without the requisite contribution from Bella in the form of artistic snoring interspersed with her usual timing and accuracy.

On this episode we talked about a few things regarding safety in local Pagan communities.  There are predatory people in all communities and unfortunately our Pagan community is no exception.  What to look for and what to do... look out for others and yourself.

We also discussed the vital importance of voting this year considering the overarching theme of fascist ideologies being pushed.  It is up to us all to keep our community free and safe.  This is not the time to be on the fence or to sit it out on the sidelines.  Get up, Get out and Vote.

This was an amazing episode and we cannot say how much we enjoyed speaking with local author H. Dean Fisher! We talked about his latest book; Medusa, Rise of a Goddess and so many other topics of interest ranging from Norse to Greek to Egyptian mythology among others.

On this episode, we were joined by Tim Anderson for the debut of our new podcast series "Practitioners of NEPA" in which we feature local practitioners of the esoteric.

We had a fantastic conversation with the typical laughter we always have when Tim is around.  To bring laughter is a gift after emerging from the darkness of addiction and the traumatic experiences of a challenging childhood. 

Tim talks about how his intuitive work and reliance on his ancestors for support were key in providing the support structure he needed to beat the monster of chemical dependency.  A purer demonstration of will would be difficult to point to. 

We are so proud of Tim and the absolute achievement his life has become and what an example for others suffering under the same circumstance.

In this episode, we discussed recent events taking place at a metaphysical store located in Hanover, PA where the local Chief of Police took it upon himself to 'advise' the young shop owner about the PA Fortune Telling law.

While maybe his intentions were good - the appearance of the action might lead one to believe otherwise.  

We discussed our personal opinions on enforcing archaic laws in the great state of Pennsylvania as well as the direct need for all communities to come together and stop bickering over talking points put there to distract us all.

In this episode, we discussed how to get started on the path and how to not be fooled by woo. 

In this episode, we were joined by Mark Stavish, the Director of the Institute for Hermetic Studies for a great conversation across a myriad of topics.  Mark gave us a few predictions for 2024 along with his no-holds-barred thoughts regarding the state of the esoteric today, and the importance of finding yourself as well as a group of like-minded practitioners. 

As a rule, we do not edit our podcast episodes.  They are recorded as a live session with no script.  Our episodes are always a showcase of free-flowing conversation and the guest's opinions are their own as they are entitled to be.  We all must learn to work together and that includes working with others whose opinions do not always align.  

This was a large part of the conversation in that we are too often separated from others because they do not match our personal criteria for acceptance or even listening.  How much we miss by making knee-jerk, emotional decisions because someone didn't use the 'right' words or feel like we do.

We are fortunate to have someone of Mark's caliber in our midst and his exceptionally thorough knowledge combines perfectly with his ability to explain complex topics simply; it is truly a blessing, especially for those dipping their toe into the very deep pool of the esoteric.

On this episode we discussed cognitive bias & dissonance as well as the tendency for appeal to authority syndrome & other's personal bias to take over one's path.  Even the most learned of us falls prey to this from time to time.

It's all part of the journey.

Individual seeker or prospective lodge members, which path to take, how to move forward are all questions we must all answer repeatedly on the crooked path. Most importantly how to vet the information one receives and where to go from here...

On this episode, we talked a bit about everything... from the bullshit antics a few people have attempted to the fantastic people we have met in this community who are thankfully the majority.

We talked about learning from mistakes, taking corrective actions, setting firm boundaries, enforcing them, and the beauty of the diversity in our community.

The two of us hand-entered, photographed, and uploaded over 2200 product SKUs for a little over three weeks.  We are exhausted but so happy to be home on the system where we started four years ago.  

On this episode, we had a bit of a vent session regarding the absolute nonsense propaganda click-bait being spewed online and in-person about the catastrophic flood damage in our former home of NC.

It's one thing to hear on a daily basis all manner of make-believe and quite frankly BS about any myriad of topics - it's another for this latest distribution of propaganda to be actively harming the people we love.  

For those of you that have expressed empathy and support - thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  For those of you that continue to spread these false narratives - well you'll know where we stand with that.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to fellow Tarheels - Mortellus & Byron Ballard for the selfless aid they have been doing since this tragedy unfolded a week ago and to the countless Federal, State and County agencies as well as the large number of civilians who have rendered aid and put themselves in harms way to save lives and rescue the good people of NC during this catastrophic event.  That includes our daughter Shanell who has put herself in harms way on multiple occasions to run fuel, to be available for her fellow North Carolinians in need.  We love you all.

On this episode, we discussed the absolutely horrendous decision of the Supreme Court to wrest control for themselves via the now-former Chevron precedent as well as the years of periodic stupidity of those agencies that were charged with the protection of the public and instead chose overreach.

While the powers that be slog forward in an apparent attempt to create the sequel to an Atwood novel... we need to understand the importance of taking care of ourselves meaning our loved ones but also being there for others... corruption knows no bounds and so we must all learn to cast that circle... of sanctuary - whatever your belief or faith or lack thereof.

On this episode, we were fortunate to land an interview with Hexologist Hunter Yoder; owner/operator of The Hex Factory out of Berks County, PA. 

Here is a brief excerpt describing Hunter & his amazing work:

The most prolific and outspoken artist of a modern school of "hexologists" is Hunter Yoder, owner and operator of the Hex Factory in Philadelphia. Born and raised in Berks County, Hunter was inspired by local artistic traditions, and even painted a barn on his father's property near Virginville. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Hunter embraces the title of "Hexologist," and has sought to reinvent the mythology of the modern hex sign by incorporating aspects of his interest in ancient pre-Christian ritual culture. Hunter's work combines plant geometry, runic inscriptions, and several designs which are an homage to the work of Lee Gandee. Like Gandee, Hunter experiments with the use of art for shamanic and magical purposes, believing that his work is an extension of his spiritual path. Identifying himself religiously as a Heathen, Hunter blends traditional motifs with arcane occult emblems in the interest of reviving ancient Germanic religion. While for many people in Pennsylvania, this particular approach remains highly controversial, especially because of the historical abuse of such interest in Germanic culture during the second World War, Hunter aims to break down such taboos in an effort to take his art in an entirely different direction, blending old and new mythology. Despite these obstacles in belief, tradition, and culture, it is undeniable that Hunter's work is visually stunning, and part of the spectrum of modern applications of continued interest in Pennsylvania Dutch culture in the United States.

On this episode we took a brief look into Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs as it may apply to spiritual practice.  That is, in terms of addressing one's basic needs as best as they can in this whirlwind of crisis that we all live in today so as to be able to open ourselves more fully to spirit.  

On this episode we discussed the reality of the proverbial dog that caught the car in reference to the recent election and the current and soon to be coming state of affairs.

Now is not the time to be fearful or clutching pearls... it's time to pull our cloaks up and go to work. 

We also discussed a few things ranging from etiquette to developing a relationship with spirit.  Times of darkness do not have to equal despair - especially when the despair is being spread or attempted to by a gaggle of idiots in a clown car.

On this episode recorded prior to the candidate swap out yesterday - we discussed more on the topic of Project 2025, the continuation of the prelude to starring in a live-action version of an Atwood novel we are all experiencing now...

We discussed how voting is much more than any specific candidate, rather it is the movement and administration behind them that matters even more.  We would love to have the conversations about practice but right now we all need to be straightening up in our chairs and paying close attention to the moves being made on the chessboard.

We also talked about the importance that our elders should play in our community and why so many times esoteric groups fail to produce anything of merit due to their associations merely being about specific practice or tradition - when it should be geared more toward a general philosophy of unified ideals.

Was it the current standard of corporate culture (overworked, overutilized, and underappreciated) or something else... we don't know.  But the go-go-go-go mentality, the metrics-driven non-people-centric approach to deliverables needs some course changing... as it certainly did not help.

We will be sending up smoke for our friend this Samhain and we will always remember you for the charismatic, hilarious, and consummate professional you always were regardless of the situation.

As practitioners, occultists, pagans, etc. this is invaluable to know as many times therapists come with their own biases and preconceived notions in terms of spirituality, religion, or the lack thereof.

Kailin is very much what we call a 'do-er' in the community bringing Yoga to the masses, co-organizing one of the largest and most successful gatherings of the year (Wild Women of NEPA) and now opening her very own studio in Clarks Summit, PA!

In this episode, we briefly go over some of the basic tools of the Craft, what you need and what you don't, and what they are typically used for.  We also review the importance of banishment, cleansing, and other activities commonly utilized in a circle.

In this episode, we discussed the differing types of altars and what their use would be.  There are so many different types of altars as well as differing uses from permanent altars in one's home, travel altars, or make-shift on-the-go altars using what one might have on hand.  We discussed decor, especially for honoring a particular holiday as well as touched on those specific types of altars used in evocation or invocation work.

On this episode we discussed the ongoing block party on social media platforms, the genocide happening before our eyes, the corporate overlords and the powers working behind the scenes to control our world.  We also talked about just how important the currency of the people is on where they spend their money and that the fight isn't about left vs. right - rather it is between the haves and have-not's. The 99% of us struggling and the 1% who are hoarding all the gold.

Local and State elections matter, where you spend your money matters, small business matters - corporate spreadsheets do not.

In this episode, we discussed being 'triggered' by others, especially from the onslaught of curated sound bites and media feeds.  We discussed the ramifications of having an emotional reaction to stimuli or provocation and possibly a better way to receive and/or respond to it. 

In addition to a healthy dose of skepticism, it is also a great idea to develop some thicker skin especially when interacting with others.
