09 Jun 2020Jeanine Staples on Generating Our Personal Liberation Projects01:08:38

In light of the current social justice movement + Revolution for the liberation of Black American’s, I have decided to re-release some of the most impactful and enlightening conversations I have had on the podcast with Black women and men.

These are conversations that have educated and inspired listeners over the years, and my hope is that now that an even brighter light is being shone upon the issues covered in these conversations- they will continue to deepen our understanding of the current tasks at hand.

As many of you know, Jeanine Staples is a force to be reckoned with, and a woman I have called a friend and teacher for years. She was one our most talked about 2019 Ignite Your Soul Summit speakers, and the work she is doing in the world is unparalleled.

We had this conversation back in 2017, and white supremacy and white privilege were two of the many topics we covered back then, making this a really powerful discussion to bring back into the light today.

Jeanine stunned the world (and me) with her TED Talk, “How To Die Peacefully”, when she challenged the notion that humans are born, they live and then they die. No- Jeanine believes we are born and then we die a thousand tiny deaths. She claims, we can only learn to live, when we learn to die those deaths peacefully.

… and this is just what I learned before our conversation.

Dr. Jeanine Staples is the Associate Professor of Literacy and Language, African American Studies, and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Penn State University. She is the founder of “The Supreme Love Project” , a movement which seeks to embolden marginalized people to heal their souls and liberate themselves. Not to mention, she is a genius, a soul excavator, a humanist and an all around “Be Your OWN Hero”, kind of Wonder Woman.

I am beyond thrilled and honored to share this conversation with you. I just know that these words will touch you in a way that could literally shift the way you live your life, today- if you let them.

So, grab a notebook for this one, sit down, and get ready to let it all sink in to your soma (how Jeanine refers to our bodies) and your souls. I hope you find this conversation as powerful as I do.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How our to heal our soul terrors and begin our own Personal Liberation Project
  • Why seeking external affirmation can only lead to suffering
  • What it means to “Go Deeper”
  • The truth about our conditioned fear of experiencing pain
  • How to teach our children to understand their body and their pain
  • How your unconscious beliefs about money hold you back from being free
  • What it means to own your womanhood
  • What your “lover identity” is
  • How to begin to stand up for social injustices and become a voice for for the voiceless

Soul Shifting Quotes:

  • “My generation of terror was so complete and so huge, I didn’t have that ability to bide my time and create a status quo. I had to break.”
  • “I was at what I thought was my bottom. And the voice of God, the Holy Spirit said… “Go deeper.”
  • “There’s so many of us who run from pain. It’s suffering that we need to cease, not pain. Suffering is this long term uninterrupted source of despair without hope. That’s what we need to move away from. But pain, pain is actually what we need to generate bigger emotional muscle. To grow the capacity to go deeper.”
  • “Let your child get attuned to their body. Because their bodies are instruments for their emotionality.”
  • “Our salvation and our liberation project would not exist, unless there was something we were in bondage to. And that bondage is your pain. Best to become really enamored with it.”
  • “You can only be satiated from the inside out.”
  • “Do I feel real? Or do I feel like I am wearing labels and descriptions that had been given to me.”
  • “I had to really do the work of saying, I am not the woman I want to be. I am not the woman I say I am. And I want to be congruent. I want to BE that person, and not perform that person.
  • “Your interior life is the precedent to any other exterior attachment or endeavor that you want to take part of.”

22 Nov 2019Focus Friday: How to Replace Worry with Winning00:20:45

Have you ever found yourself worrying so much about the outcome that you can’t just enjoy the journey?

In this week’s Focus Friday I’m looking back at this time last year when I was right in the middle of my home expansion project- one that felt way harder than I ever anticipated it would.

A year later, I’ve had some massive realizations about the patterning and programming that often leaves us feeling anxious and worried, and the ways in which we can reframe and let go of the worry- so we can lean into and be present with the joy.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • A little Black Friday teaser about the Ignite Your Soul Summit [ 2:27 ]
  • How easily do we give away our joy? [ 3:51 ]
  • The outdated pattern that needs to be changed [ 7:10 ]
  • What actually causes our greatest suffering [ 12:20 ]
  • What happens when we look back on our lives [ 13:25 ]

Soul Shifting Quotes:

  • “All of the things we’ve ever worried about have always worked out.”
  • “Our biggest challenges are not actually the problem. What is causing our suffering is our patterning.”
  • “It is always working out for me.”
  • “What if we lived into the solution, rather than living in the problem?”
  • “Our physical experience is a reflection of our inner condition.”

22 Dec 2020Amber Lilyestrom in Cathy Heller's Made To Do This Program01:30:57

Who wants to feel more spiritually alive + plugged into your life?

In this extra special masterclass, I am honored to join Cathy on Made To Do This. Cathy is the host of the popular podcast Don't Keep Your Day Job, which was given the #1 spot on iTunes's recommend list of shows for the New Year in 2018 and 2019.

Each week Cathy encourages thousands and thousands of listeners to find more purpose in their life and get paid to do what they love full time. She started out as a singer songwriter and first found success licensing her music to TV, Film and Ads. Quickly she became a standout in her field and was featured in magazines like Billboard, Variety and the LA Weekly.

After making a multi six figure living with her music, Cathy started a music agency and then she began teaching other artists to grow their own careers.

Two weeks after her third daughter was born, she started her top ranked podcast. Cathy's show has been featured in HuffPost, the NY Times and Inc Magazine's "top 9 podcasts" and has been downloaded over 5 million times. She's been featured several times by Apple themselves and the fans are resonating with how genuine she is.

Throughout the show, she has interviewed creative entrepreneurs like actress Jenna Fischer, popular blogger Seth Godin, designer Jonathan Adler, make-up artist Bobbi Brown, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, fashionista Tamara Mellon, novelist Emily Giffin, and Gretchen Rubin to name a few.

When she's not teaching or interviewing amazing guests for her podcast, you can find Cathy playing with her three little girls, writing her book, songwriting for tv shows and commercials, or enjoying a moment with friends.

Cathy often says "purpose is the opposite of depression" and she is truly lifting others to be the happiest version of themselves.

We have an in-depth conversation about how to take your life head-on, one dream at a time. There is no metric for the exponential growth that happens in each of our hearts; The most powerful metric we have is people showing up and how our clients look in the mirror each morning.

26 Jan 2018Focus Friday: Get on the Plane 00:23:47

I learned so much last weekend in LA with Lewis and his crew at the Greatness Mastermind retreat, but the biggest realization came from reflecting on what it took to get me there.

It wasn’t money. It wasn’t time. It wasn’t having someone to look after my little one.

It was the courage to get on the plane, itself.

I know you know what I’m talking about.

The showing up is always the hardest part.

That first moment when we walk in to the room of rock stars. That physical CLAIMING of our dreams that takes place when we tell the people we love we’re diving in head first.

When we DO show up, when we get on the plane,  buy the ticket....signup- for our dreams...our lives are dramatically changed.

When we say YES to the invitation to up level our experience here… magic always happens.

In this Focus Friday episode on the podcast, I talk about the 5 reasons why getting on the plane will make a massive impact in your life and in your business in some surprising ways you may not expect, and why taking the long walk down that jet bridge could be the most game-changing walk you ever take.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU’LL LEARN:

  • An invitation to get on the plane in your own life [:46]

  • What it means to “get on the plane” [ 3:16 ]

  • Why getting on the plane helps you dream bigger [ 8:25 ]

  • How we grow our tribe by surrounding ourselves with other [ 11:02 ]

  • How showing up refocuses you on what leads to results [ 13:40 ]

  • How consistency is the way [ 15:23 ]

  • How getting on the plane helps you become the person you need to be to get to the next level     [ 18:51 ]

SOUL SHIFTING QUOTES:

  • “We are being called to give birth to something bigger and we are being called to trust and have faith in that process.”

  • “The only way that anything is ever going to happen is if we have the courage to actually dream it.”

  • “Being in the room with people like the folks at this Mastermind experience, we realize that we’re no longer separate. We’re more alike than we are different.”

  • “Get on the plane. Sign up. Say YES. Step up to your own greatness.. You couldn’t possibly know what waits for you on the other side of your fear.”

19 Mar 2024Leah McDermott on Building a Bridge to Radical Unschooling01:01:44

Welcome back to the IGNITE Your Dream Podcast!

I am so excited to share today's conversation with you with innovator + disruptivator, Leah McDermott!

Leah is a former Master Educator turned radical unschooling advocate, and mama of three boys. She is the owner of Your Natural Learner and Bridge Academy, where she provides resources and community for natural learning and homeschoolers around the world. After years spent in the public school classrooms, Leah recognized the disconnect between what we know to be true about how learning happens and what we were doing to our children in the system. In 2011, after having her first child, she made the decision to step away from the public learning system and began her work in encouraging and supporting homeschooling families to raise a new generation of confident and passionate lifelong learners, and today focuses on helping parents shift their mindset to trust that their children are capable of learning what they need when they need it.

In today's episode we dive deep into what it means to "unschool," the challenges our children face within the current school system and what can happen when we trust our children's natural learning instincts over society's current models.

I hope this conversation serves as an invation to expand + shift your perspective if you feel called to do so. I can't wait for you to listen!

16 Feb 2021Emma Jensen on Human Design01:26:13

Are you ready to get in touch with who you are at the core, using human design?

I am so excited to be joined by one of my dear friends and amazing clients, Emma Jensen. In 2018 Emma Jensen was introduced to Human Design through a coach. Beginning to learn and understand who she was at her core permitted Emma to be herself. Not who others wanted her to be or what she thought she was supposed to be, but who she truly was underneath all of the thoughts and belief patterns that were laid down by other people.

Emma became a student and curious about Human Design, and it wasn't until 2020 that she truly stepped into sharing Human Design with others. It is a passion that Emma loves to share with all people because of the tremendous impact it can have on not only the individual life but the lives of those around them.

Emma has been a lover of animals her entire life. They have been a source of comfort, reassurance and have taught Emma so many vital lessons throughout her life. It wasn't until she joined a coaching program in late 2018 that Emma discovered she could communicate with animals.

Before then, Emma didn't even realize Animal Communication was possible and something that someone could do or achieve with an animal. Once Emma embraced this newfound gift, her life completely transformed. For years, Emma wanted a career that helped animals, and Animal Communication brought clarity to that vision. It was through many animal reading that Emma was intuitively led to include energetic healings as well. Emma continues to learn so much from each animal she communicates with.

In this episode, Emma reveals exactly what human design is, and we dive into the different human design types. When we learn about our own design, we can understand how to live up to our most real + authentic self. Emma gives loads of tips and strategies around communication depending on our human design type.  Tune in as we discuss the not-self themes, how to make money using our energy type, and we dig deep into our charts.

After winning NashFM 105.5’s regional Nash Next competition, she represented the Florida Panhandle in the finals, beating out over 800 contestants to be named the 2018 Nash Next winner. She gained national recognition and a record deal with Big Machine (home to heavy-hitters like Taylor Swift and Florida Georgia Line) making her label debut in May 2019 with the single "Nothing But You.”

She then swept the 2019 Northwest Florida Beachcomber awards taking home eight titles including: Musician of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Original Song, Best Country Artist, Best Singer/Songwriter, Best Solo Artist, Best New Artist, and Best Female Vocalist. Opening slots for Eli Young Band, Hunter Hayes, Easton Corbin, and Runaway June followed, as well as featured performances alongside hitmakers at songwriter festivals across the southern United States.

A native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Ritter grew up on her family farm listening to country radio and absorbing the sounds of artists like Lee Ann Womack, Shania Twain, and Miranda Lambert. She is continually inspired by her favorite writer/performers: Lori McKenna, Natalie Hemby, and Cam.

26 Nov 2019Amber Lilyestrom The 4-Part Process That Changed My Life (Thanksgiving Edition)00:29:35

In today’s episode, I am sharing a mini-coaching session with you through my 4-part process to help you connect even deeper in to understanding your past and integrating it with your biggest vision for your life.

I addressed the importance of making peace with our pain head-on in order to transcend the stories that hold us in bondage.

And I also share a story of a conversation with a loved one that changed my life. I uncovered how standing in our TRUTH changes things and the notion that people pleasing is equivalent to lying to the people that we love.

Yet, the problem that most of us face, however, is that we’ve had so many examples  of moments in which we have spoken our truth and the people we love left us or refused to accept us.

In the story I share today, this actually didn’t happen(!!) and the learning that I received as a result was a total game changer that is perfectly poised to support you during this Thanksgiving week here in the US.

14 Jul 2020Christine Hassler on Overcoming Obstacles + Living Our Fullest Life 01:01:16

What is holding you back from the life you want?

Today’s guest, Christine Hassler, is a best-selling author, keynote speaker, master coach, and podcast host who is committed to guiding people and organizations into their highest potential. She left her successful job as a Hollywood agent at 25 to pursue a life she could be passionate about . . . but it did not come easily. After being inspired by her own unexpected challenges and experiences, she realized her journey was indeed her destination.

In 2005, she wrote her first book 20 Something 20 Everything and then The 20 Something Manifesto in 2008. Her latest best-selling book Expectation Hangover: Free Yourself from Your Past, Change Your Present and Get What You Really Want is the guidebook for how to treat disappointment on the emotional, mental, behavioral and spiritual levels.

Today, she supports individuals in answering the questions: “Who Am I, What do I want, and How do I get it?” Christine is a master coach who combines life coaching with the principles of spiritual psychology. She is passionate about supporting people out of suffering and limitation and into fulfillment. Her superpowers of intuition and compassion help people breakthrough challenges that at one time seemed insurmountable. Bottom line: she helps people get “over it and on with it!” with love.

In this episode, Christine goes deep around forgiveness + standing in our truth. Christine explains how we can use jealousy as a tool. When we feel resentment, there is some separation within us. After acknowledging the jealousy, we need to snap back into self-love + self-acceptance.

Later, Christine talks about unpacking our lives' pain and deepening into a global understanding of our patterns. That way, we can rewire our thoughts + patterns. Once we rewire those familiar behaviors, we can finally let ourselves live in our fullness.

08 Dec 2020Sarah Jenks on Embodying The Sacred Feminine and Identifying the Role of the Internalized Patriarchy in our Lives + Businesses01:05:19

How do we create a life that is a true expression of who we are?

Today, my soul-sister Sarah Jenks joins the show for an incredibly powerful conversation. Before Sarah had kids, she devoted years of her life to being at peace with her body. The freedom and joy she experienced birthed her international program, Live More Weigh Less, where thousands of women have found freedom from emotional eating and fallen in love with their bodies. Live more weigh less was celebrated in publications such as Forbes, Success Magazine, Health Magazine, Parenting Magazine and Martha Stewart Living.

After Sarah had her first child, she felt like all of the freedom, magic, and sparkle of her life and soul were sucked out of her. Being a mother was so all-consuming, and she realized she was falling into the trap that so many women get stuck in. The trap of putting everybody’s happiness before our own.

Sarah spent many years in a tireless search for her soul through working with shamans, coaches, spiritual teachers and traveling to many sacred sites. This helped Sarah land in a life that feels like a true expression of who she is. Sarah rarely does things that she doesn’t want to do + she feels fully supported by her husband in their home life.

Sarah has an incredibly deep connection with her kids, husband, soul, nature, and the magic that exists in the world around us. Now Sarah stands for women to end the pattern of taking scraps after everyone in their lives has feasted.

In this episode, Sarah Jenks and I talk about navigating the internalized ways the patriarchy gets us stuck and how women need a sacred feminine practice to understand their life and the world. Through Sarah’s transformational work, she teaches us how to reconnect with our relationships with ourselves, our marriage, our motherhood and our nature.

In this Episode You’ll Learn:

  • All about today’s guest, Sarah Jenks [ 1:20 ]
  • How Sarah grew into the woman she is today [ 5:50 ]
  • The ways Sarah found her divine feminine [ 11:00 ]
  • About our ancestral fears [ 18:50 ]
  • How to navigate mom guilt as an ambitious woman [ 26:40 ]
  • Why our children will not feel internalized patriarchy [ 35:25 ]
  • How to take responsibility in our marriages [ 44:25 ]

Soul Shifting Quotes:

  • “Feel permission to be yourself.”
  • “Experience who we truly are.”
  • “We have everything we need within us.”
  • “When we look at life as a mystery school, we can have more compassion for our lessons.”
  • “Be a woman, have feelings, and show them.”

Plus, Cathy shares her wisdom on the gift of centering creativity, the habits + beliefs that hold us back from what we truly want and why being the kindest version of yourself for somebody else is the most spiritual thing you can do.

I can't wait for you to listen!

10 Oct 2017Kate Northrup on Reimagining Entrepreneurship + Motherhood01:09:16

Kate Northrup was one of my most favorite online entrepreneurs and writers when I first launched my business. I loved her down-to-earth style and ageless wisdom and so appreciated how she had created a business that included working with her partner.

Kate and I met back in December 2014 and became fast friends and mastermind sisters in our sweet little group that meets up in Maine every month. This conversation is going to open up a great deal of clarity for you and will also serve as a giant exhale for those of us who tend to do life on the perfectionist side of the fence.

Kate is a mother, wife, entrepreneur, bestselling author and activist with a mission to help you get what you want in business and life without sacrificing what matters most. She supports ambitious, motivated women to light up the world without burning themselves out in the process. Her podcast, The Kate & Mike Show, is one of my absolute favorites.

It’s been so inspiring to witness how Kate has grown in her partnership with her husband and her journey as a mother and business owner. She has turned the doubt and fears that come up in business and motherhood into learning for others. I hope you’re able to take Kate’s sage wisdom into your life and business.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN:

  • The impact of soul sisters on Kate’s biggest successes

  • How a weekly meeting with her husband transformed their relationship

  • Why having a couple’s therapist is key to rising above harmful patterns

  • How Kate spent less time on her business without losing income

  • Why you need to put out your work even if you’re scared

  • How to make the distinction of what’s really at fault for your failures

  • Why vagueness is holding you back from making more sales

  • Why you don’t have to share your current reality in your business

  • How being with your child can be a form of meditation

  • Why you need to show up first every day

KATE’S STORY:

  • Brought her partner into her business

  • Stepped back from her work as a new mom

  • Learned to own her voice and stake a claim

WHAT I ASK:

  • What does your husband bring to your business that you’re grateful for?

  • What’s surprised you the most as you’ve become a mom and business owner?

  • Where do you find the confidence to move forward with a launch?

SOUL SHIFTING QUOTES:

“We choose our partners because we love them, but we also choose them because they trigger things within us that need to be healed.”

“I can show up for the things that matter most and my business won’t implode.”

“We’re all upgrading our lineage by stepping into our own work.”

“We are all given opportunities. Do we create gold out of those or do we not step up to the plate?”

“Being with a young child is such a beautiful form of meditation.”

25 Jul 2023What Losing My Voice Taught Me00:14:55

Welcome back to the IGNITE Your Dream Podcast! Today’s episode is all about the life lesson that was handed to me on a silver platter a few weeks ago when I found myself with bronchitis and lost my voice completely.

In this episode, I invite you to look at your own energy and the ways in which you could be spending (and recharging) it in a way that’s  more fully aligned to your own design. Our energy IS a renewable resource, but when we’re not in tune with our own expenditure of it, it’s easy to find our tanks on ‘E’ with no re-fill in sight.
