20 May 2024S2 E9: Disney Skyliner 2.0 (with Johnny J from the DMSW Podcast)00:49:45

In this episode, we dive into the history and exciting (hopeful) future of the Disney Skyliner. The Skyliner currently serves four resorts and two theme parks at Walt Disney World. Inspired by the original Skyway gondola system that once connected Fantasyland and Tomorrowland in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, the Skyliner combines nostalgia with modern innovation. Each gondola features designs with beloved Disney characters, adding an extra touch of magic to the transportation experience.

With the help of Johnny J from the DMSW Podcast, we're thrilled to unveil a new extension and update to the Skyliner. This expansion aims to enhance the transportation system while adding immersive and interactive experiences, similar to the Hogwarts Express at Universal. Redesigned Skyliner cabins will feature state-of-the-art screens displaying themed visuals and character interactions, making the ride an attraction in itself. We’re also introducing air conditioning and solar panels to ensure comfort and eco-friendliness. This new line will connect six additional locations, including Galaxy’s Edge, Blizzard Beach, All-Star Resorts, and Coronado Springs, each offering unique interactive experiences. Join us as we explore these exciting plans to transform the Disney Skyliner into a magical journey across Walt Disney World!

It's time to play the music! It's time to light the lights! It's time to meet the Muppets on this episode tonight!

Join Marissa and Kaity as they dive into another episode of "Canceled." This week, they explore the ill-fated Muppet Studios, a planned land at Disney parks that never saw the light of day. In the early 90s, The Muppets were wildly popular, and a merger between Disney and Jim Henson Studios was set to bring an entire Muppet-themed area to the parks. However, the unexpected death of Jim Henson in 1990 halted the merger, and the dream of Muppet Studios vanished.

The episode covers the exciting details of what Muppet Studios could have been, including a ride, 3D movie, stage show, parade, and themed restaurants. They also discuss the promotional efforts that were planned to integrate The Muppets into Disneyland for its 35th anniversary.

Despite the deal falling through, the hosts reimagine what could have been, designing a new Muppet-themed ride that incorporates thrilling elements and interactive experiences. They discuss how the ride would fit into the existing park layout and bring the charm and chaos of The Muppets to life.

Tune in for a nostalgic and imaginative look at a piece of Disney history that almost was, complete with their unique "Idiot" spin. Whether you're a Muppets fan or a Disney enthusiast, this episode is sure to entertain and spark your imagination

22 Jul 2024S2 E18: The Twilight Zone Bar & Lounge00:40:58

Hollywood, 1940. The Hollywood Tower Hotel is reopening after a year-long closure following the tragic events of 1939—you know, the one where an elevator cab carrying five people was struck by lightning and never seen again? After taking the year off to “renovate,” the hotel is opening back up with its newest, exclusive lounge—The Twilight Zone. Management decided they needed a flashy hangout to attract back the Hollywood elite.

However, something is not quite right with this place. While the rest of the Hollywood Tower Hotel looks abandoned and desolate, The Twilight Zone is bright and lively—always buzzing with staff and patrons. It’s been this way since opening. While the rest of the hotel would eventually close and fade away, The Twilight Zone always stayed booked and busy, to the amazement of everyone since, you see, The Hollywood Tower Hotel never actually reopened…

Ever wondered what would happen if Disney’s most iconic attractions collided with unexpected non-Disney worlds? We’re taking you there—and this time, we’re not doing it alone. For our first Crossover Creation Challenge of Season 3, we’ve invited Bryan from Miles from Main Street Podcast to join the chaos!

Here’s how it works: Two wheels. One with Disney attractions, the other with non-Disney IPs (think Looney Tunes or Game of Thrones). After spinning to determine our mashup, the clock starts ticking. In just 30 minutes, we’ll brainstorm, develop, and finalize a full concept to retheme the attraction. But it’s not all fun and games—we’ll have to merge worlds, balance storytelling, and make it work in a theme park setting.

Get ready for an episode packed with laughs, rapid-fire brainstorming, and unexpected brilliance. And don’t forget to check out this week’s upcoming Magic Makers episode featuring Imagineer Josh Shipley—dropping Thursday!

(Yes, we know K-pop is Korean, but trust us—there’s a reason it’s making its way into our Japan attraction, and it actually makes sense.)
