19 Nov 2022130. When the Sneaky Bitch comes calling with Jacinta from Sydney01:09:05

In this episode I catch up with Jacinta from Sydney. Growing up with an alcohol Mum, Jacinta knows too well the dangers of alcoholism, it's destruction and how sly and powerful she can be. Like so many of us that grow up with addicted parents, even though we see the fall out we can also find ourselves in similar patterns. While their stories are very different the parallels between Jacinta and her Mum show the power of the Sneaky Bitch. Her Mum after years and years of alcohol abuse which had led to all sorts of destructive behaviours, Jacinta's Mum gave up the booze for 10 years. Jacinta, like her Mum had found herself also under the spell of alcohol and gave it up for some time. After 10 years of abstinence and after the death of her Husband, Jacinta's Mum took up drinking again and spiralled right back to where she started. Jacinta like her Mum, after months without booze found herself having "just one" with her hubby and also ended up right back where she started. In this episode we talk about the Sneaky Bitch and how she still hangs around even after years of no alcohol. It happens to me from time to time, it happens to us all and something we need to be aware of and be prepared for.

We also chat about the difficulties of asking for help if you work in the medical or health sector.

Jacinta is a HIQA grad for the second time, is 10 months sober now and going strong.

14 Jan 2023143. Get out of your mind and into your body with Dr Luke Sniewski01:02:56

In this episode I was honoured to catch up with Dr Luke Sniewski. Luke is a Wellbeing Coach and Somatic Therapist, he was also the facilitator in Dr Gabor Mate's Compassionate Inquiry course which I was a student of in 2022. We caught up to talk about Luke's new book, Somawise which is an incredible resource for healing addiction and becoming more aware of the messages and signals the body is trying to make us aware of day to day. Luke uses his lived experience through an addiction to Porn and was able to heal what was driving that addiction through connecting to the body through awareness and compassion. Luke says authentic change begins with silence, stillness, and the courage to look inward. We may not like what we find there, but getting into our body is where the real work of change is done. Through this awareness we are able to liberate ourselves from our old patterns and core beliefs.

28 Jan 2023145. The undeniable life changing freedom of waking up without shame and regret with Lisa from Sydney00:47:26

How many times do we have to wake up hating ourselves? Feeling incongruent, out of alignment with our values, ashamed, worried, embarrassed, your body demanding attention "please stop poisoning me"... Yet we ignore it, blame ourselves, tell ourselves we will learn to be better and repeat the exact same cycle a few days or weeks later? I know I did and so did this wonderful guest Lisa. Lisa and I have been working together for 12 months or so and she is the epitome of digging deep and doing the work. A true example of how it's not always easy, that sobriety will challenge you, uncover things about yourself you didn't know where there and make you deal head on with raw emotions but the flip-side is true freedom.

04 Feb 2023146. The colourful life of sobriety with Calamity Tash01:06:52

In this episode I catch up with the very colourful Calamity Tash from Adelaide. Tash gave away alcohol at the age of 25 years old, after years of habitual serious bingeing (to the point of alcohol poisoning), blackouts, and using alcohol as a coping mechanism. Her drinking spiralled out of control, starting her day with wine, drinking in her lunch breaks and then continuing after work. Luckily, she started dating someone who didn't drink and she realised that life without alcohol is a possibility.

Tash has been sober for over 4 years now, she surrounds herself with people who keep her accountable in sobriety and her work with disengaged, queer and neuro-diverse youths.

25 Feb 2023149. Feeling ok on the inside with Mark Purser00:55:55

In this episode I catch up with my good mate and mentor Mark Purser. We chat about how as humans all we want to do is feel ok on the inside and when we don't feel ok on the inside we usually go to externals to make us ok. But there is that sweet spot, between the stimulus and the response. When we can recognise that we are not ok, we can respond in a way that is more nurturing rather than reacting and creating more suffering. We can rely on ourselves to get us through when we have the tools from a daily practice.

One good thing about removing alcohol is that we can start to recognise our emotional responses we can start to have a relationship with what is showing up rather than ignoring it or pushing it away. It can be an opportunity for deep healing.

Mark and I have a retreat in Bali coming up where we will be diving deep into self healing and nurturing. Please go to www.iquitalcohol.com.au for more details.

04 Mar 2023150. From 3 bottles of wine a day, to freedom and teaching people how to talk to kids about alcohol with Isabella Ferguson 00:51:09

A must listen to for all parents of teenagers. In this episode I catch up with coach Isabella Furgeson. Growing up in Canberra in the 80's. Isabella found that alcohol gave her a voice, that sense of confidence turned into serious binge drinking. Fast forward to motherhood, the binge drinking continued to the point where Isabella found herself becoming the drunkest person at gatherings and parties. As the shame increased so did her drinking, where she began hiding her drinking from her husband. One particular night Isabella got so drunk she had to be rushed to hospital which was essentially her rock bottom, from there she detoxed and went into rehab. We chat about untangling your beliefs about yourself, how trying moderation led to more sneaking after rehab. Eventually Isabella found This Naked Mind course and was able to kick the habit, she know coaches others in sobriety and runs courses on How To Talk To Your Kids About Alcohol.

01 Apr 2023155. Living with ADHD and staying sober with coach Emma Gilmour00:44:53

In this episode I catch up with Emma Gilmour. Emma is a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist, This Naked Mind and Gray Area Drinking Coach, living in Melbourne, Australia. Emma worked for 20+ years in corporate marketing. A working mum fuelled by adrenalin, coffee and booze, she looked like she had it all. But on the inside, she was running on empty. As she reached her mid-forties alcohol started to take more than it was giving and so begun her long and very messy break-up with alcohol. Nothing stuck until her eldest asked her to ‘stop bringing wine into their bedroom’ then it finally landed for her.

Emma started the process of rebuilding herself as an adult, with nurturing care. She discovered her values, stopped drinking, and had to create a whole new identity.

A booze & corporate job-free identity.

Life dramatically improved without booze. She began to discover who she really was, what she liked and what she didn’t like now that booze was no longer her hobby and best friend, she could trust, listen to and follow her intuition!

Kicking the booze to the curb gave Emma a previously unknown level of confidence and personal power to pursue her dreams and become a qualified counsellor and coach.

Still very much a work in progress, Emma is an Aussie based peri-menopausal mum of neuro and gender diverse teens who also has a ADHD diagnosis herself. We talk about self-regulation and why it is so important, her journey with alcohol life on the other side.

09 Apr 2023156. How sobriety can save your relationship with Lissy Elliott00:36:02

In this episode I catch up with Adelaide artist Lissy Elliott. Lissie's relationship with alcohol began impacting her relationship with her wife after continual alcohol fuelled arguments. Eventually after one huge fight, Lissy realised the damage that alcohol was causing and decided to take a break which has proven to be a complete game changer. 03 Jun 2023164. When alcohol steals your authenticity with Samuel Phillip Cooper00:41:35

In this episode I catch up with New Zealand based musician Sam Cooper. Sam is 28 years old and at the time of recording has been 17 months sober. Sam, a shy kid by nature found that drinking first gave him confidence to talk to girls and to clown around. When some of his wild and uncharacteristic behaviours were caught on camera and posted on the internet, Sam started to gain popularity and a new found label that was not at all anything like his true nature. Embarrassed but also feeling buoyed by his status Sam continued on the path of self destruction until it led to dangerous and humiliating territory and he decided it was time to stop.

Sam, an incredibly beautiful piano player, found that removing booze gave him the time, clarity and inspiration to spend more time writing music and he has written some hauntingly beautiful new pieces based on his journey.

In this episode I catch up with country music singer Meg Doherty we chat about the lies some of us tell ourselves and others when our drinking has got out of control and the shame that surrounds that. At the peak of Meg's drinking she was drinking daily a bottle of vodka and a bottle of wine. The shame and guilt she was feeling from the amount she was consuming created secrecy and then lying became part of her daily practice. Meg joined the 12 step program to boot the booze. She is now channelling her energy into her sobriety, motherhood and her music. We talk about forgiveness, meditation, and the importance of working her program.

16 Jun 2023166. The last day one and the importance of having a plan to deal with triggers with Jade Lee00:44:17

Jade practices and instructs yoga, is an author, passionate about mindfulness, sustained mental health, and employee well-being. She was a self-confessed “piss-head” (Australian slang for heavy partier) and was convinced that she could be an “alcoholic yogi” for many years until she began her ethanol-free journey 4 years ago and developed the foundations that enabled her to start stringing together some sizable numbers. Jade turned her first AF year into a Ph.D. in addiction and self-development and had many lessons to share. Jade has a passion for traveling, she loves the great outdoors and met her husband when she was trekking to Everest Base Camp (he was her Sherpa!).

24 Jun 2023167. When you just don't want to do it anymore with Greg from the Sunshine Coast.00:49:46

In this episode I chat with Greg from the Sunny Coast in Australia. Greg was an almost every day drinker, the life of the party and probably the drunkest guy at the party. We talked about his relationship with alcohol and how at 54 years of age he decided it was time to change. That change has had a huge impact on physical health, his relationship with his wife, his daughter and even his heavy drinking buddies who have been able to open up to Greg about their own desires to ditch the booze.  Greg had tried many times to quit in the past, and finally through educating himself with books and podcasts, finally something clicked and has been able to make it stick. His message is clear "never stop quitting".

Once again, I catch up with incredible Dr Luke Sniewski in this episode we chat about the freedom and life changing power of radical self acceptance.

We chat about the importance of honest and acceptance playing a key role in addiction recovery.

How a practice of stillness can transform us, and how stillness and self acceptance go hand in hand.

15 Jul 2023170. Learning to become who I really am with Kate from New Zealand. 00:40:03

In this episode I catch up with Kate from New Zealand. Kate was brought up in a strict Christian household, her Dad was the local pastor of their church and as such was a late bloomer with alcohol. Kate found that when she drank at first, she liked the person she became when she was drunk, it made her more outgoing, more confident until it didn't. After weighing up the pros and cons Kate realised that alcohol was taking much than it was giving her.

We talk about how her husband has taken her sobriety. Raising your standards enough to choose who you spend your time with.

08 Jul 2023169. Do I really want a drink or is there more to it? Learning from the wobbles with Naomi from NSW00:58:31

In this episode I catch up with one of the HIQA grads Naomi from NSW, Naomi suffered huge blackouts and would go to huge lengths to try to jog her memory from the night before. We chat about the dreaded drunk dialling episodes. After her separation and other events, Naomi's inner critic was so strong that the thought of time on her own would cause her to drink excessively.

We also chat about navigating the waters of figuring out who you are and rediscovering your identity without alcohol.

Taking the time to notice what you are really craving if you get wobbly. Often times when we have a strong craving there is generally a lot more to the craving than just wanting alcohol. Naomi and I unpack the moment she almost caved and coming out on the other side feeling in tact and proud.

The power in accepting the new you.

The realisation that it's easier not to drink! How moderation for most of binge drinkers just doesn't work and the power of sitting with your feelings.

02 Aug 2023173. The safety trap with Lyndal Hunt00:41:31

In this mid week minisode I catch up with my good friend Lyndal Hunt. Lyndal introduces the concept of the "safety trap", and becoming aware of feeling so good that we start to neglect the ongoing work required to maintain sobriety. She emphasises the importance of vigilance and proactivity, even during the good times, as this is when the risk of relapse can be at its highest.

Recovery is an ongoing process and that allowing complacency to set in can be detrimental.

Consistent self-care practices and coping strategies are paramount in maintaining long-term well-being. We chat about the significance of sticking to your daily practice to stay on track. Even when you are on holidays!!!

Recognising warning signs is crucial in preventing a potential relapse. Lyndal provides insights into being aware of shifts in mood, behaviour, or thought patterns. By taking action early on, individuals can prevent a full-blown relapse and get back on track towards recovery.

We also discuss the importance of leaning on friends, family, support groups and your sober gang to stay connected.

We touch upon the need for a mindset shift - viewing recovery as a continuous process rather than an endpoint. Embracing the idea of a lifelong journey in recovery can help you maintain focus and dedication and avoiding the trap of complacency.

The book Lyndal mentioned is Nicole Lapera, How To Do The Work.

15 Aug 2023176. Do I have a problem with alcohol? with Ben Schiller00:54:03

In this midweek episode of the pod, I catch up with Ben Schiller we break down the DSM 5 Criteria for assessing alcohol use disorder and compare it to our relationships with alcohol.

A great reminder of how far we have come but also a great diagnostic for anyone wondering if it could be time to take a break.

To reach out to Ben go to ben@benschillerpsychology.com.au

DSM-5 Criteria for AUD 21 To confirm a diagnosis of AUD, at least two of the following criteria need to be met. , in the past 12-months have you:

Had times when you ended up drinking more, or longer than you intended? More than once wanted to cut down or stop drinking, or tried to, but couldn’t?

Spent a lot of time drinking? Or being sick or getting over the after effects?

Experienced craving — a strong need, or urge, to drink?

Found that drinking — or being sick from drinking — often interfered with taking care of your home or family? Or caused job troubles? Or school problems?

Continued to drink even though it was causing trouble with your family or friends?

Given up or cut back on activities that were important or interesting to you, or gave you pleasure, in order to drink?

More than once gotten into situations while or after drinking that increased your chances of getting hurt (such as driving, swimming, using machinery, walking in a dangerous area, or having unsafe sex)?

Continued to drink even though it was making you feel depressed or anxious or adding to another health problem? Or after having had a memory blackout?

Had to drink much more than you once did to get the effect you want? Or found that your usual number of drinks had much less effect than before?

Found that when the effects of alcohol were wearing off, you had withdrawal symptoms, such as trouble sleeping, shakiness, irritability, anxiety, depression, restlessness, nausea, or sweating? Or sensed things that were not there?

19 Aug 2023177. Back in control with radio host - Maz Compton00:45:32

In this episode I catch up radio host, Maz Compton. Maz, 8 years sober, has just released a book Last Drinks, she also hosts the podcast Last Drinks and is an awesome advocate for sobriety.

While alcohol wasn't having a huge impact on Maz's professional life it was taking it's toll on her energy and she started to question her relationship without alcohol.

Once she started to question her relationship with alcohol she started to notice that she

If I stop does that mean I am an alcoholic?

Does this mean I have a problem?

Do I need to have a rock bottom?

Finally the line in the sand moment came and Maz decided to step away from the booze.

We talked about the fears around quitting alcohol and worrying about what people might think.

22 Aug 2023178. The three stages of relapse with Lyndal Hunt00:42:45

In this episode I catch up yet again with my good friend Lyndal Hunt to chat about the 3 stages of relapse.

  1. Emotional relapse (disconnection from our community, disconnection from daily practices, shitty thinking).
  2. Mental relapse ( starting to bargain with ourselves about moderation).
  3. Physical relapse. (The picking up of the drink).

These stages are great to become aware of these warning signs so you can catch yourself and make changes to get yourself back on track before a slip up happens.

05 Sep 2023182. How has sobriety affected your relationship with the Grads Group01:14:42

In this episode I catch up with some of the HIQA grads to talk about how their sobriety has affected or changed their relationship with their partners. For some it has had a very positive effect, and for others it has caused them to bust up. You changing your lifestyle is always going to have an impact on those closest to you, for some it will create more growth for the partner and for some it will highlight deficits in the relationship. We delve into having compassion for the person that is loosing their drinking buddy, how boundaries may help if your partner is still drinking heavily, how sobriety can change your sex life, or how sobriety can give you a deeper understanding of each other.

I also catch up with James McDonald the husband of one of the HIQA grads Michelle, to see how Shell's sobriety impacted him.

02 Sep 2023181. The healing power of connecting to your voice with singer Saritah00:44:20

In this podcast episode, I catch up with my good friend Saritah, who's not only an amazing musician and singer but also a vocal therapist. We dive into a topic that hits close to home – our tendency to be super critical of our own voices, even though they're truly beautiful. We explore how simply connecting with our voices can do wonders for our overall healing journey.

We also tackle the whole idea of being "tone deaf" and break down that myth. It's all about learning to actually enjoy the sound of your own voice, no matter what. We even get into the nitty-gritty of how singing can do cool things like work those vagus nerve muscles and help keep our nervous system in check.

We chat about the power of learning to enjoy your voice and why it's important to trust our own sound. This is a beautiful chat about how this journey can be an incredible support on sobriety journey. So, grab your headphones and join us on this conversation that's all about embracing the voice within.

Spirituality does not have to be a complicated unobtainable thing. In this episode I catch up with senior yoga teacher Shane Turner to talk about how a spiritual practice can look very different for different people, but also how we can use different practices to support us through hard times and through sobriety. Shane also takes us through a simple breath-work practice, which I recommend you do when you are sitting down and definitely not whilst driving. We also talk about finding joy and purpose in the most mundane of chores. I loved this conversation recorded during one of the HIQA grads group calls which Shane was a special guest on.

Lach Bostock, a Grammy-nominated producer and a key member of the hit Indie Pop Band; Mansionair, chose sobriety at the peak of his career. At 31, Lachy recognised that heavy drinking wasn't compatible with the demands of constant touring, both mentally and physically. Additionally, he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and believes that abstaining from alcohol helps manage his symptoms better. Lach is part of a growing trend among younger musicians who are prioritising their mental health, challenging the conventional norms of the music industry.

19 Sep 2023186. The importance of filling your bucket and stepping into a bigger life with Mark Purser00:58:02

In this episode, I have a conversation with senior yoga teacher Mark Purser, delving into the significance of self-care. In the midst of our bustling lives, demanding work routines, and the responsibilities of caring for others, many of us find ourselves depleted, grappling with disordered nervous systems, and seeking external sources for relief. Mark and I discuss different methods to rejuvenate and fill your bucket, including Yoga Nidra (a personal favourite), embracing nature, mindful breathing, exercise, and other self care practices.

We explore the concept of how temporary states can evolve into enduring traits and answer the question what is Yoga Nidra?

How do we know when we need to fill our buckets and what are the warning signs that we are running low?

30 Sep 2023189. Seeking freedom through alcohol and then finding it with sobriety with Emily Walter00:41:13

In today's episode, I catch up with Emily Walter. Emily is a drum teacher from Melbourne who had just recently gone over 500 days alcohol free, which is her first time in over 20 years with no intention of stopping. From the age of 16, she started drinking regularly on most weekends up until the age of 40. She used alcohol as a way of fitting in and feeling comfortable in her own skin.

Fast forward to her mid 20's, she began drinking on her own, thinking that alcohol was giving her a sense of freedom. It was until she let alcohol go, learned to sit with the uncomfortable, and started changing her life that she has found true freedom.

Emily went on her alcohol free journey on her own, without a community other than listening to the stories on this podcast, and using the tools she picked up on the podcast to help her through, which highlights the importance of sharing our stories.

26 Sep 2023188. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst while staying sober. Grieving well with Katherine Dunell00:51:24

In 2022 Katherine Dunell lost her husband Brett after a long battle with melanoma.

In this beautiful chat we talk about

-Dealing with the reality that her husband was leaving,

-Dealing with her grief and how staying off alcohol helped her process the grief and to be there for her kids as they navigate this huge change.

-Having an alcohol free funeral and how that created a boundary for her and the kids.

Kat had a strong practice of "musts" which included remembering to have gratitude, and the most basic things like sleep, or remembering to eat.

As Kat says there is not right or wrong way to grieve. We hope that by sharing her story that it may offer some hope and support for people that are going through grief.

Kat created a fundraising page for the Melanoma Institute Australia in Brett's name after he died to raise funds for research into melanoma instead of receiving flowers. The page has so far raised 28k.

She also raised a further 8k by organising the first Melanoma March in Geelong, link below.

Another charity Kat would like to support is a local Geelong based charity Wombats Wish they run bereavement camps for families after the death of a parent in Victoria.

24 Oct 2023195. Dealing with emotional flashbacks and complex trauma with Jeannie O'Carroll 00:51:04

This episode myself and the How I Quit Alcohol Grads group were lucky enough to have a workshop with Psychotherapist Jeannie O'Carroll.

We chat about CPTSD Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and emotional flashback which often accompany CPTSD.

The difference between PTSD and CPTSD

Often times a lot of people think they need to have had a big T trauma to have CPTSD, but often complex trauma is not an event that happened but rather a continually

CPTSD when a child grows up in an environment where the emotional needs of a child are continually not met. When a child is not being heard, held, or attuned to by their parents or caregivers or had their feelings validated enough to feel safe and acknowledged.

Jeanie talks about Flashback Flashbacks and what they look like.

When we have a bigger emotional reaction than what seems warranted for the situation which can often lead to feelings of shame or guilt, or even needing to drink to cope with the situation.

Jeannie refers to the work of Pete Walker and his book CPTSD from Surviving To Thriving and how we can soothe ourselves when we get into a place of emotional flashback.

We also hear some shares with the group, Jeannie address parentification or role reversal with parents.

We also address the 13 steps to managing an emotional flashback.

To learn more about the retreat I am co facilitating with Jeannie in Bali please drop me an email or go to the website.

https://www.iquitalcohol.com.au/collections/resources/products/emotional-healing-retreat-bali-oct-17-21-2024

28 Oct 2023196. From IV drug use and alcohol abuse to changing lives with Jack Nagle 01:17:15

I was so blown away to have this incredible soul on the podcast, Jack Nagle from the Real Drug Talk podcast. Playing basketball at a high level being coached by Andrew Gaze, Jack went from being fit and healthy young man dabbling in drugs until alcohol and drug addiction took over and completely derailed Jack’s life.

After becoming homeless, suicide attempts, psychosis, living a life of crime and hitting complete rock bottom Jack got into rehab and did the word to free himself. He studied drug and alcohol counselling and is now running outreach programs to help kids and adults free themselves from the hold of addiction.

Using his own experiences, Jack is passionate about using the destruction of his past as his greatest asset to give the hope of freedom to people suffering with addiction, and educating the community with the reality of addiction. Working at the coal face of addiction treatment with various leading addiction treatment centres in Australia, appearing on national television, regularly commenting in broadcast media and print, working with government and being in and around addiction for over a decade, he has positively impacted thousands of lives.

I loved this conversation with this amazing human.

11 Nov 2023200. Stopping the bullshit with Dan Sultan 00:46:07

In this episode I catch up with legendary Australian musician Dan Sultan. Dan and I have a really candid discussion about his life with alcohol and his recovery. Being an extremely shy person, Dan used alcohol to help him block out the discomfort of his shyness, low self esteem and a strong inner critic. After a drunken episode at a show, the press in Australia ran with it and shamed Dan all over the headlines for days on end. He eventually decided to go to rehad and get help.

Dan talks about the moment he got really honest in rehab which was the turning point for him and his sobriety.

Dan points out how if you don't get there at first, you are not failing. We don't always get sobriety the first time. Dan is a wonderful Dad, husband and musician and is proud to say that he has never been drunk in front of his kids.

18 Nov 2023201. I was bored, I was unhappy so I would drink with Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie 01:01:12

In this episode, I had the privilege of chatting with Derrick McKenzie, DJ and drummer from the iconic band Jamiroquai. Derrick opened up about the profound impact of racism during his formative years and how alcohol became a source of confidence and belonging during his adolescence. We delved into the evolution of his alcohol consumption, which gradually turned into a post-show ritual to sustain the adrenaline rush of performing. Derrick also shared how he used alcohol as a coping mechanism to navigate marital and financial challenges, ultimately leading to a struggle with excessive drinking. Derrick ended up in a different country, completely lost and totally addicted to alcohol his journey took a transformative turn as he found solace and strength in God. While Derrick isn't one to impose his beliefs on others, he emphasises the pivotal role spirituality and a higher power can play in breaking the cycle of addiction.

In this episode I catch up with sober coach, author and mentor Sarah Rusbatch. 23 Mar 2024224. Fenella's story, a chronic relapser on the rehab wheel saved by tough love. 01:39:38

In this episode, I catch up with my friend Fenella, who's been sober for nearly four years now. Her story is truly profound. Fenella battled Anorexia during her teens, a struggle that nearly took her life. It all started with a cry for attention from her parents, but it quickly spiraled into something much darker. As she got a grip on her eating disorder, Fenella turned to alcohol to numb her anxiety. What began as a few drinks a day soon escalated into daily binges, leading to frequent blackouts and numerous trips to the hospital, including a harrowing incident where she had to be resuscitated. Despite several attempts at rehab, alcohol kept creeping back into her life, each binge more intense than the last. One particularly chaotic night fueled by alcohol led to Fenella accusing her partner Joe of abuse, resulting in his arrest, a moment she can't recall due to her intoxicated state. It's been quite the wild ride.

Though Fenella's journey might not be easy to hear, it's ultimately a story of hope and redemption. She finally found freedom from alcohol with the help of some tough loving ex-alcoholics in Africa.

The book she referred to is

13 Apr 2024226. Triggers and why is change so damn hard with Dr Luke Sniewski 01:01:02

In this episode, I catch up with the incredible Dr. Luke Sniewski to talk about triggers and change. We delve into why change can be such a challenge and how we can navigate it without just swapping one bad habit for another.

We talk about how change only happens when we are triggered, viewing these triggers as opportunities for growth. We chat about how our nervous system influences our choices and the various factors that come into play.

We explore our personal experiences with change and why practices like meditation and finding inner calm are crucial. Additionally, we share tips for handling triggers effectively and stress the importance of staying connected to our bodies for lasting change.

We also chat about how celebrating our wins helps to cement change.

At the end of the day, if we want change we have to put everything we are learning into practice. We can't change if we don't try. We won't change it we don't start taking the road less travelled.
