D. L. Moody, though poorly educated by the standard of the day, yet he was an extraordinarily clever man, as we will learn in part 11, covering chapters 34-37 of the Life of D. L. Moody Chapter 34, shared with us Moody's Capacity for work. He required little rest as he went from meeting to meeting. Preaching, talking one on one with people, and preparing for further missions. But we do in this chapter, that all of this labor was taking its toll on Moody's heart. Following a grave warning about his health, in Chapter 35, Moody received a terrible shock, when sailing from Southampton, back to America, the shaft broke on the steamer and for a few days, all seemed hopeless. The World's Fair of 1893, was held in Chicago, and the planning and execution of plans to share the Gospel with people from around the world, is the theme of Chapter 36. In Chapter 37, we learn of Moody's cleverness, as he strives to reach the world with the Gospel, he finds the press will share his sermons in their papers.

But before he left England to serve as a missionary in India he wrote a paper called "An Enquiry into the Obligations of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens. in which the Religious State of the Different Nations of the World, the Success of Former Undertakings, and the Practicability of Further Undertakings, are Considered."

In this episode, we will focus on Carey's burden and the paper he wrote on missions which helped to spark the modern missions movement.

In part 14 of the Life of D. L. Moody, we cover chapters 44-46 of the book and come to the close of Mr. Moody's earthly labors.

In Chapter 44, we are told of Mr. Moody's love of life in the country, his affection for his mother, and his love of his grandchildren.

Chapter 45, tells us of his collapse of strength while preaching in Kansas City and the long journey back to Northfield where his family

gathered about his side as his earthly days of toil came to a close. Then in the 46th chapter, we hear of his funeral on Round Top near his home at Northfield.

The Life of D. L. Moody Part 10, covers chapters 30-33. In Chapter 30, we learn how the Bible Institute was preparing students for the work of home and foreign missions.

Chapter 31, tells us about Moody's work about College students. This was an area he was not as certain about his ability to reach them, but he visited many American colleges and visited Cambridge and Oxford. Moody was also involved in the Student Volunteer Movement.

The Northfield Conferences are the subject of chapter 32. There were means for women, students, preachers, and religious thought leaders of the day.

Chapter 33 finds Moody in the Holy Land after being invited by kind friends to join them on their journey to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. Moody visited Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Bethany, the Mount of Olives, etc.

Chapter 15 of Foxe’s Book of Martyrs details the brutal persecutions under Henry VIII, focusing on key reformers who died for their faith. Patrick Hamilton and George Wisehart were executed for preaching against church corruption. Thomas Bilney and Henry Forest were burned for rejecting Catholic doctrines. John Frith refused to recant his beliefs on purgatory and transubstantiation and was martyred. William Tyndale, famous for translating the Bible into English, was betrayed and executed. In Chapters 26-29, we cover a lot of ground in Moody's life and ministry.

Chapter 26 finds Moody on his second extended mission in Great Britain, where portable buildings were used for meetings, and we learn about Moody's association with Henry Drummond.

Chapter 27, covers Moody's later missions in various American cities, sharing about his 60th birthday, and an invitation to preach in Australia.

In chapters 28 and 29, we learn of the plans for the schools, Northfield Seminary and the Mount Hermon schools, that Moody built near his home. We learn of the course of study, his desire to help the young people of his home community and more.

Edward Kimball (July 29, 1823 – June 5, 1901) was an American Sunday School teacher known for converting 19th-century evangelist Dwight L. Moody to Christianity. Kimball also assisted churches across the United States in eliminating significant financial debts.

After being arrested in Jerusalem, Paul was taken to Caesarea where he remained for two years awaiting trial. He was then sent to Rome as a prisoner, traveling by sea with other prisoners and a Roman guard. The journey was perilous and difficult, with the ship encountering a severe storm and eventually running aground on the island of Malta. Despite these challenges, Paul continued to share the gospel with those around him, even converting some of his fellow prisoners and guards. Once in Rome, Paul was placed under house arrest for two more years, but he continued to preach and write letters to the churches he had established. Despite his chains, Paul's faith and dedication to spreading the gospel remained strong.
