01 Sep 2015 | G.O. 003 - The Multi-faceted Saveria Tilden | 00:47:03
Saveria Tilden keeps busy. When she discovered the outdoors, she realized it needed to be shared. She made that happen by becoming an educator and consultant for various businesses and organizations. She works with the American Hiking Society, the Sierra Club, REI Outdoor School, Transforming Youth Outdoors, IslandWood, and Nature Play Western Australia. And she still finds time for herself outdoors. Jason and Saveria weathered a Southern California drizzle storm to discuss her role in the outdoors and why she values it.

19 Nov 2015 | G.O. 014 - On 2 Wheels With Mike Hastings | 00:51:11
Mike Hastings was raised in the frigid motor city of Michigan where a love for machines and a superhuman tolerance for cold temperatures was born. Early in adulthood, he headed West chasing the two-wheeled pursuits of mountain biking and motorcycle racing. He even indulged a momentary fling with Super Moto. Several crashes later, he still chases his two-wheeled passion through moto clubs and long distance riding trips. He and Jason discussed these pursuits one evening on Jason’s back patio shortly before being massacred in a game of Risk: Legacy.

07 Jan 2016 | G.O. 021 - Essential Explorer Kristina Frost | 00:53:34
Kristina Frost grew up playing on the shores of Lake Erie. An offhand comment spurred her to try backpacking. This stoked an interest in her that has not abated. Kristina became an assistant director for the University of Michigan’s Outdoor Adventures Program where she led wilderness trips and taught clinics. Now on the West Coast, she organizes women-only adventures and has begun pursuing filmmaking. She and Jason met at her office in San Francisco to discuss her outdoor history, the formation of Essential Explorer, and the challenges of windless kite-skiing trips. 24 Sep 2015 | G.O. 006 - Dusty Hulet, Yellowstone Legend | 00:51:16
Dusty Hulet may not have been born in a tent—perhaps to his father’s chagrin—but he did grow up never missing a Boy Scout camp-out. Being raised in an active outdoor family laid a foundation for adventure in him that continues to grow. He makes a living as an entrepreneur and filmmaker, occasionally crawling through bear dens, and pursues a variety of activities on the side. He can be found in the snow or in raging rivers, perhaps even on horseback. He was once responsible for the lives and good times of many vacationers seated on his Alaskan tour bus and is to blame for the temporary sitings of the elusive Yellowstone Gorilla. Jason found him momentarily in Liberty Park in Salt Lake City where they chatted about his life instead of allowing him to prepare for a trip to Haiti.

15 Oct 2015 | G.O. 009 - Nomadic Pursuits With Alison Hudson | 00:40:22
Alison Hudson is a NOLS instructor and filmmaker nomadically making her way around the world seeking new experiences. She spent multiple months in Nepal shooting a documentary, Close to the Edge: Life in the Khumbu, about Nepalese high-altitude workers. Her production was cut short by the tragic earthquake in April that killed 9,000 and triggered an avalanche on Everest. She and Jason met at a park in Wyoming to discuss these subjects and her experiences on the Appalachian Trail. They even take a moment to defend the usefulness of Facebook.

Matt Podolsky grew up immersed in the New England outdoors, but it was an IMAX documentary he saw at an early age that changed his view of humanity’s place in nature. His career as a wildlife biologist working with California Condors led him into the realm of documentary production aimed at conservation. He co-founded Wild Lens, a non-profit committed to telling the stories of those dedicated to conservation issues worldwide. 16 Nov 2016 | G.O. 041 - Dav Underground ft. David Angel | 00:58:33
Doing “nerdy stuff with computers” eventually lead David Angel to a corner of the internet where he was introduced to subterranean exploration. Soon he was a member of the Southern California Grotto, a caving group. Despite witnessing a tragedy on his first outing, he became more involved in the group eventually branching out into canyoneering and other adventurous pursuits. He and Jason bushwhacked through the overgrowth of a local L.A. canyon one night so they could sit in a dirty pothole and discuss caving, canyoneering, adventuring, administering ropewiki.com, and dealing with the aftermath of losing a close friend.
