My friend Megan Carranza joins us today to talk about her podcast, Adventures In Autism. Megan started AiA in 2017 after her son Logan received an autism diagnosis at age 4. At the time, Megan couldn’t find any podcasts that weren’t hosted by doctors or therapists. Those were of course invaluable, but she wanted a community of parents just like her. So she created one herself. Megan is amazing, and she is also the younger sister of my friend Melissa, who you may remember from IG stories and $2 Thursdays as my brave and wonderful friend who was diagnosed with brain cancer in May 2020. We get an update on her as well!! And of course, because this IS Gee Thanks and Megan IS an esthetician, she brought skincare recs in the form of an exfoliant and a lash serum that she swears is a game changer. Facebook group a question: My husband had the audacity to die on my birthday in 2020 (dark humor is now kind of my thing). I’ll be turning 37 this year, which is the age he was when he died. It’s def fcking with me a bit that I’ll now be the age was when he died. I need to indulge in some retail therapy (don’t worry, I participate in real therapy, too). What should I buy? What came next was a real outpouring of support, community, love, and thoughtfulness. In the midst of that, a few people asked Adriana if they could send her a birthday card. We're opening that opportunity up to everyone, in hopes of bringing a little joy to an otherwise heavy day. Adriana joins me to talk about her husband Andrew, the last two years of living without him, and the retail therapy she clung to the most. There's both tears and laughter, and I left our conversation feeling so inspired by her strength. Caralyn Mirand Kochis back and she got me to go get fitted for a bra for the first time in four (okay, five) years. After I instagrammed that summer 2022 would be known as #looseboobsummer she texted me and was like, “Caroline, that makes me sad!” and I was like, “Caralyn, bras make me sad!” and then we decided to record an episode. I really enjoyed my fitting at Jeanette Bras in Pasadena (not spon, trust me, I paid not a small amount of my own money for 3 bras) and I walked away with knowledge of my size and some really expensive bras. Now I am going to stack my bra drawer with some less expensive bras in the correct size. But if you think I am abandoning #TheLoungeBra, you are wrong, I’m wearing it right now. Though I must admit, it was a relief to have a properly fitting bra for this wedding that I went to last weekend. Everyone wins. Thanks Caralyn!
