27 Aug 2024Ep. 29 - On Suicidality with Brianne Raddatz and Will Deroode00:52:13

Without looking at statistics, we know that suicidality, attempts and suicide have increased over the last few years, even for children.

Brianne, Will and I have a discussion on suicidality to break the walls of shame and isolation so many endure unnecessarily. The first part of the discussion is on resourcing yourself when feeling suicidal and the second part is on holding space for someone that is showing up feeling suicidal.

03 Sep 2024Ep. 31 - On Human Design with Sophia Woods Massicotte01:01:05

Here is an episode where I get interviewed by Sophia Woods Massicotte about human design. It's a system that shows us how different we all are, from how we exchange energy differently, how our intuition feels differently to each one of us, how are brains operate optimally in different environments, etc etc. These are snippets of what would be in a human design reading.

This is a fun conversation with Sophia about something I love learning about. Enjoy!

Today I interview Sylvie Beaudry who is a midwife and has training and experience in mediation. Together we give examples of how you can advocate for yourself or a loved one. We also give tips on how to give feedback to health care practitioners. The purpose of this episode is to give you practical tools so that you feel  more confident when seeking care.

Disclaimer: This podcast does not provide any midwifery advice. You are always the authority of your body.

17 Nov 2023Ep.2 - Love and Kindness meditation00:07:46

This is a very basic meditation taught by many teachers. This is my favourite way of practicing it. This is a great practice for fear, for labour preparation and just a great practice to come back to anytime. May this practice bring you back home to yourself. May we stay empowered in our empathy.

25 Mar 2024Ep. 16 - Body Image with Karolyne Lafortune01:05:14

Karolyne and I have a chat about body image. Most of us, if not all of us, struggle with body image. Karo speaks to us about her struggles with body image that started from a very young age and how she found confidence and reclamation of her body through pole dance and burlesque.

She is the owner of EmbodiPole in Ottawa. She coaches her students to build a deeper conection with their bodies and rediscover their inner authentic erotic.

17 Oct 2024Ep. 33 - On Grief with Katt Brooks00:31:36

In this episode, I have a discussion with Katt Brooks who is a holistic grief coach. Katt was able to shift my thoughts and show me my shadow in this short discussion. She has a unique perspective that I have not heard of before.

"Vengeance is a lazy form of grief" is a quote I've heard. And in this world where we keep asking ourselves: where is the love? it all comes back to dealing with our own sorrow.

This episode is for the one grieving (no matter what the grievance is) and for the one holding space for a loved one.

From our hearts to yours.

Bri is in a previous episode: The beauty of suffering. She is a veteran. https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/hh3M9EP0nLb

I am a self-exiled midwife who won't shut up about why I left my passion, my devotion. This entire podcast is dedicated to that truth.

The themes of this episode are:

- Definition of what we mean by shadow

- The outside world as a reflection of our internal world

- a bit of nerdy human design

- awareness is 90% of our healing

- spiritual bypassing

- having impact

- democratic integrity

- energetic integrity

- hierarchy/pedestaling

Have a great listen!

22 May 2024Ep. 20 - Freedom is the New F Word00:57:52
13 Feb 2024Ep. 13 - Medical research or profit based findings? 01:02:19

In this episode, I explain to Dasha why and how health research findings are often false. This episode was recorded for the lay person's understanding.

There is no midwifery advice by podcast. Understanding research misconduct can be a vital step towards taking control of your health. Having health care providers and those seeking care understand research misconduct will bring change to public heath.

People who are speaking of these issues are:

- Marcia Angell Former Editor in chief NEJM

- Richard Horton Editor of the Lancet

- Peter Wilmshurst, cardiologist, researcher and investigator of research misconduct https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/106767/pdf/

- Aseem Malhotra, cardiologist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDXOArxFAGQ

22 Nov 2023Ep. 3 - Moral injury00:28:37

In this episode we dive into 2 examples that have led to my moral injury. The system, the safety net that we rely on as health care providers is inadequate and does not enable us to provide the best care.

Profit based culture and pharmaceutical based health care are outdated and harmful.

For skin dryness I would tell parents to simply use EVOO on a newborn. Once the baby has rolls and/or parts of skin that have redness from not drying well, use coconut oil.

Due to our culture, I always have to say that the responsibility of your health and wellbeing are always in your hands and never in anyone else's hands.

04 Dec 2023Ep. 5 - MINI: Processing Early Pregnancy Loss00:05:12

These are my thoughts on processing an early pregnancy loss.

12 Dec 2023Ep. 6 - MINI: Pelvic floor in pregnancy and after birth00:10:43

In this episode I discuss a few misconceptions about the pelvic floor regarding kegels and muscle tone. I give a few tips to prepare you for birth and how to help healing after birth.

Not mentionned in the episode: you can use tune up balls on your perineum and beside your sits bone to soften those muscles.

Preparing ice pads with plain witch hazel can be soothing after birth. Do not freeze pads one on top of each other.

Incontinence can be caused by hypertonia. A pelvic floor therapist can help assess and treat that.

Bath herbs for infusion: garlic cloves from a whole garlic bulb, a small handful of each: uva ursi, comfrey and calendula. simmer in 2L of water for 2h. strain, divide in 2 for 2 baths. The sooner you take your bath after birth the better. Add natural salts (plain sea salt and/or plain magnesium sulfate salts).

02 Feb 2025Ep. 37 - Newborn's weight loss in the first week of life00:11:52

This episode is for all the moms that have told me their story and for my mom when she had me.

You are always responsible for your health and wellbeing and your children's wellbeing. Information/resources about breastfeeding Exclusively breastfeeding your baby in the first 6 months is the best for your baby. Breastfeeding can be difficult to learn for some because in our culture new parents have often never seen babies latch and breastfeed. It is therefore important for pregnant individuals who want to breastfeed to learn about the basics of breastfeeding and where to access resources in your community. The first week after the birth of your baby, your breasts will initially produce colostrum and will then transition to breast milk. Colostrum is considered liquid gold. Every drop is very nutritious. Before your milk comes in, your baby will have a “fussy” night. Your baby will need to feed frequently or all night long for your milk to come in a day or 2 later. This is called supply on demand. Your body will regulate the amount of milk it is producing depending on the amount your baby is asking for. Baby’s second night https://kellymom.com/ages/newborn/bf-basics/second-night/ Skin to skin: Holding your baby skin to skin is important for you and your baby. It helps to promote your milk supply, regulates your baby’s temperature and blood sugars, helps colonize healthy bacteria on your baby and is good for brain development. Holding and cuddling your baby skin to skin in a relax environment can help you and your baby latch better. Latching your baby: A proper latch is crucial for successful breastfeeding. A proper latch prevents ALL breastfeeding difficulties. 13 Mar 2025Ep. 39 - Redefining Feminism for Ourselves01:05:55

It seems like feminism has been taken over by the industries to push their agenda on the masses. But what if we took it back and made it our own, our own healing. What would feminism mean to you if it was your movement? What would it mean if our hearts led the movement? An inner movement.

Exclusion criteria were birth before 37+0 completed gestational weeks, multiple pregnancy, perinatal death due to major congenital defects (congenital heart, nervous system and multiple malformations, lethal syndromes) and birthweight <1 000g (in cases where information on gestational age was missing).

This means that the selection also included small babies of more than 1000g and unknown GA.
