Pascal Fintoni and Roger Edwards return to the Bond franchise with 'Skyfall', the 23rd Bond film, and the third starring Daniel Craig.

This adventure started to reintroduce elements from earlier films that the reboot of Casino Royale had taken out, such as Q and Miss Moneypenny.

In addition to the usual marketing by the distributors, Skyfall was loaded with product placements from the likes of Heineken, Honda, Sony and Coca Cola, all of whom ran their own, huge, innovative and viral marketing campaigns.

Released in 1994 (up against Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump) and despite receiving great reviews from critics 'The Shawshank Redemption' failed to attract audiences at the theaters.

One year later Warner Bros. released the movie on VHS for rental market, and the rest is movie history.

We look at the marketing assets first used to promote 'The Shawshank Redemption' from teaser posters to trailers, the reactions from fans and reviewers, the power of word-of-mouth, and the key messages and appeal of the story to this day.

After trying to create a “show within a show” to coax media commentators, and merch campaign by Irvin Shapiro, a comment by author Stephen King who saw the film at Cannes lifted 'The Evil Dead' from relative obscurity to the most sought-after indie horror movie.

This gothic horror masterpiece by Neil Jordan re-defined the vampire genre and features great performances from Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, along with copious amounts of gore. 

Released in 1994, just before the Internet era, we have little information about the marketing of the film apart from the trailer and posters and the publicity.

One major highlight is writer Anne Rice objecting to Tom Cruise being cast in the role of Lestat and then changing her position after she saw the movie adaptation of her 1976 novel.

Probably one the best known courtroom drama movies, with a perfect script where each line matters, great performances from all the cast without ever over-shadowing one another, and tense courtroom battles! 'A Few Good Men' remains a must-see film!

We review in detail the official trailer, which has the perfect structure and storytelling to really get audiences excited. But why are the trailer dialogues dominated by Jack Nicholson and other actors, with little said by Tom Cruise?

Pascal Fintoni and Roger Edwards do a deep dive into the marketing of the 2006 film that introduced Daniel Craig as James Bond to the world.

We look at the approach and tactics used to promote what is essentially the reboot of one of the most famous franchises after a 4 year-gap.

There were also massive changes in style and cinematography, and a much more rugged and physical approach to storytelling.

In addition to the expected 'promo pack' and publicity, there were cleverly produced product placement TV campaigns from film sponsors themselves.

We look at the tongue in cheek social media campaign which also introduced us to one of the stars of the film. Stephen “Sully” Seagull. Unlike the shark, Sully wasn’t CGI. He was real and put in a fine performance!

“In search of a killer, he finds someone who’s either the love of his life or the end of it.”

Pascal Fintoni and Roger Edwards go back to 1989 with this superb police procedural film-noir with brilliant comedic moments between Al Pacino and John Goodman and erotic chemistry between Pacino and Ellen Barkin.

'Sea of Love' paved the way for the Femme Fatale films of the 1990s such as 'Basic Instinct', 'La Femme Nikita', and 'Final Analysis'. 

We look at the brilliant posters, the lobby cards (these were the days!), the TV spots, the soundtrack, the different versions from big screens to TV and DVD releases - and reflect on how the film benefited from the return of Al Pacino after a 4-year absence.

We also consider whether the name of the film should have been different. Would adopting the literal translation of the French title have worked better?

This second X-Files film is a great detective style mystery but features none of the series usual UFO mythology or “monster of the week” storytelling and as a result did not get an entirely positive response from movie-goers.

Plus, the marketing for the film fell well short of what was needed to promote 'The X-Files: I Want To Believe' against other releases such as 'The Dark Knight'. 

Pascal Fintoni and Roger Edwards who are huge fans of the TV series investigate the promotional campaign and make suggestions about what could have been done back in 2008 to create a much more hard hitting and immersive campaign.

Lost footage film 'The Blair Witch Project' released in 1999 was the most successful independent film of all time. And it’s pretty scary too!

Pascal Fintoni and Roger Edwards explore how that independent and entrepreneurial spirit was also used in the marketing campaign to attract the attention of audiences and the media.

It started with an intriguing hook: In October of 1994, three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville Maryland while shooting a documentary... A year later their footage was found.

'The Blair Witch Project' was made more intriguing by a mockumentary and ingenious viral pre-release marketing campaign.

An unexpected sequel to the 2008 film Cloverfield, some would argue that the Cloverfield elements were tagged onto a generic “kidnapped girl in cellar” story. However, John Goodman playing survivalist Howard is terrifying as the captor in this extremely tense movie. 

The marketing was also remarkable. In addition to the usual posters and trailer, the producers set up an elaborate viral treasure hunt style game to suck fans into following clues left by Howard himself.
