23 Apr 2024 | Episode 110: Robert Carter | 01:07:08
We're back in Eastern Texas again for this episode, in which Robert Carter joins us to discuss his transition from his early falconry days flying longwings on ducks, to flying red tailed and Harris's hawks on squirrels. He also is one of the first falconers I've talked to that has incorporated poodles to help in his falconry. This is also another good episode that goes into depth more on living by the falconry principle of adapting your falconry to the quarry and opportunities you have available to you, and many thanks again to Randy Watson for helping to make these episodes recorded in Eastern Texas happen! 25 Feb 2025 | Episode 156: Jeremiah Weber | 01:17:10
After getting a lure machine from Jeremiah, we started talking more back and forth about falconry, dachshunds, bowfishing, and other good stuff. Those conversations led to being able to meet up with him at a dachshund field trial close to where he lives in Pennsylvania, and while there, I managed to get my equipment set up outside long enough to record an episode and pick up where we left off! Overall, it turned out pretty well for a little bit of wind blowing, beagles barking in the background, and other audio challenges, but I hope you enjoy regardless! We heard the requests before, but as always, we try to do as many episodes in person as possible. However, after much debating, discussing, and planning, we conceded that the only way we were going to be able to ever initially put out episodes for Canada was to start remotely. Therefore, thanks to the help of our guest for this episode, we were able to get in contact with some falconers from Canada, and link up over the internet. We've done the best we can with the audio quality of these episodes, but that being said we think you'll enjoy them, especially this initial episode with Mark Williams! On top of being a very experienced falconer, Mark is also the communications director and NAFA trustee for the Falconry Fund. In the past, he's also worked abroad in the Middle East for an established telemetry company, and the stories of that experience alone are enough to make this episode well worth the listen! We hope you enjoy this series, and will do our best to bring you more episodes featuring falconers from Canada that are recorded in person in the future! 18 Jun 2024 | Episode 118: Pakorn Patimetha | 01:18:35
Out of all of the episodes I've recorded thus far for the podcast, this episode has to be one of the most unique. This episode features another New Jersey falconer, who was recorded last summer as part of the ongoing dachshund series, and hearing his falconry and overall life journey was truly inspiring! Pakorn Patithema discusses what he had to overcome in his youth to pursue falconry, and how falconry was what kept him on a good path, in what could easily have turned out to be a dangerous one for him. For those of you who are always looking for examples of how falconry can turn out to be a huge positive in people's lives, Pak's story is a great one! 08 Nov 2023 | Episode 91: Tyler Sladen | 01:56:53
Our dachshund series continues with a guest who has been requested often on the podcast, but until recently, we couldn't connect with and make a recording happen in person. Tyler Sladen has been a friend for awhile, having started falconry around relatively the same time. However, a recent terrier trial event in Kentucky held on the weekend of my birthday was the first time in seven or eight years that we had seen each other, so we finally got a chance to make it happen. We had a lot of catching up to do, and in that time, we of course talked dachshunds and other breeds, as well as many of the things that we've encountered and dealt with along our respective falconry journeys. It was great getting to catch up with him, and we hope you enjoy it and get something from it! 10 Aug 2023 | Episode 78: Trevor Oertel | 01:06:17
During another rainy day recording this fourth episode at the CFC meet, Trevor Oertel sits down with us to talk about his lengthy falconry history, and quite a history it is! Trevor is one of the falconers responsible for getting falconry legalized in the Western Cape province, as well as helping to form the Cape Falconry Club and South African Falconers Association. He provides a lot of valuable insight into the challenges that go with that whole process, and why falconry was illegal for a period of time in that part of South Africa. This third installment of the NM Falconer's Association Series features Greg Rabourn. At a young age, Greg moved to New Mexico with his family, where he quickly discovered his love for hunting jackrabbits. In his early twenties, he relocated to Farmington, NM, and started his falconry career. After flying goshawks, he was introduced to hawking jackrabbits with falcons and dogs, and has been at that for the last 15 years. 03 Sep 2024 | Episode 131: Jason Reid | 01:08:22
During the 2023 NAFA meet, I was able to catch up early one morning with Jason Reid, who I hadn't had a chance to see in a while. Aside from being there for his falconry equipment business, Hawkeye Falconry Supply, he was also there at the time helping to give informational clinics on eagle falconry. That being the case, I thought it would be good to have Jason on and talk more in depth about some of the aspects of eagle falconry that I haven't had a chance to previously cover on the podcast. On top of covering a lot of the details of what led Jason to relocate to Wyoming and take his falconry practice there, we cover more of the details of prepping to acquire a golden eagle, as well as more of what goes into eagle trapping. It was fun catching up with him, and hope you enjoy learning more about this process! If you want another good option for falconry gear and supplies, head to http://www.hawkeyefalconrysupply.com. While at Lance Christensen's, I was also able to get a recording in with accomplished falconer and veterinarian Ross Dirks. I'm glad he was there helping Lance to prep birds for shipping to their new owners, because this conversation was a blast to have! We talked about some of his different experiences as a veterinarian, flying falcons and goshawks, and lots of other great stuff before I headed back down to record more with Ian Anderson and other friends last July. Here we are at yet another milestone with the podcast..... Episode 150! Thanks again for coming along for the ride! This 150th episode brings you another falconer who worked with the Peregrine Fund, which was instrumental in gaining him the knowledge to start his own propagation project with gyrfalcons. Dan Konkel has been producing birds for falconers around the world for many years, particularly in the Middle East, and is someone else with tons of collective knowledge. 26 Oct 2022 | Episode 52: Simon Tyers and Ian Butler | 01:06:18
This twelfth episode in our UK falconry series highlights one of the other important aspects of falconry: camaraderie. Not all falconers are social with their practice, and that's perfectly fine. However, for a large majority of falconers across the world, the friendships and bonds formed in the field with others practicing this art are as important as the relationships formed with their raptors. This episode features one of those lifelong friendships, with Simon Tyers and Ian Butler taking the time to talk about how they formed their friendship in falconry, their falconry routine, and a few of their falconry highlights in the field! We're heading back to Texas again for a bit! This episode brings you all Jay Lehmer, who took the time out of his schedule at the THA meet earlier this year to talk about some of the adversity he's had to overcome in recent years with health issues, and some of the help he's received from fellow members of the falconry community to help face those issues. His story is another very touching one, and is another great example of what the falconry community can do when it comes together to help each other out. He also talks about his favorite form of falconry, flying longwings, and other topics. 21 May 2023 | Episode 68: Harry McElroy | 01:18:12
Thanks to the Arizona Falconers Association, we were able to do a series featuring falconers from all across the Grand Canyon State, including our esteemed guest for this episode, Harry McElroy! Harry and his wife Beth were kind enough to invite us into their home to discuss Harry's long tenure in falconry, which spanned several decades. At 93 years old, Harry is recently retired from falconry, but he has left behind a long legacy of contributions to the sport. While it's impossible to be able to fully encompass such a long life's worth of stories and experiences into an hour or so, we were happy to be able to share Harry's beginnings in falconry, his experiences living in Mexico, South America, and parts of the United States, and some of the knowledge that he's gleaned over the years flying several species of raptors and incorporating dogs and horses in falconry. We're truly honored to be able to do this series for Arizona and we hope you enjoy the rest of the episodes dedicated to some of Arizona's falconry heritage! In this second installment brought to you all by the Arizona Falconers Association, we make the trek over to Cornville to meet up with Randy Hale! It was great seeing this part of the state again after so many years, and we were fortunate to be able to see some great scenery while also hearing some great falconry stories that Randy was willing to share. During his time in falconry, Randy has flown several Cooper's hawks, as well as other species of hawks and falcons. Some of the stories that he shared with us were truly unique, as well as some of his perspectives resulting from many years in the sport, and we're happy to have been able to have met him during our circuit through AZ! 22 Apr 2025 | Episode 164: Jen Keenan | 00:56:30
Being as we have mutual friends in both falconry and the music business, I was very happy that our guest for this episode, Jen Keenan, agreed to join me remotely back in December and share her story so far. Jen is still very new in falconry, and is still learning a lot, and has had some very early challenges in her falconry career. In this episode, you'll get to hear more about her discovering falconry by hiring a falconer to do bird abatement for their vineyard, then deciding to get into it herself after her battle with cancer, the challenges of maintaining her falconry with all the businesses she runs and being married to a touring musician, and other things. This is the first of the episodes that you'll be hearing covering some more of the falconers from Wyoming! Speaking of our guest from this episode, Brian has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to falconry and raptors. Due to his work for the Peregrine Fund for many years, he's gotten to travel the world and work with many species, as well as practice falconry at a high level for himself for a long time. 21 Jan 2025 | Episode 151: Kyna Sturges | 01:00:58
For the second week in a row, another milestone has been achieved.... It's now been a year since rebranding and continuing on as Falconry Chronicles! It's been a challenge, but I'm happy that so many people have continued on the journey with me! Your support continues to mean the world, and I don't take it for granted! That being said, we're down to the last couple of episodes that were recorded in Wyoming early last year, and this episode features another good friend, Kyna Sturges. Having gotten to know Kyna and Vahe over the last few years, it's always great to pay them a visit when I'm in Wyoming, and I'm glad I got the chance to discuss things with Kyna in regards to her unique introduction into falconry. She gives insight into what it has been like being relatively new in the sport, while simultaneously being immersed into aspects of hawking and propagation that many falconers don't get to experience in their lives. Thanks again for a memorable year, and enjoy!

30 Nov 2023 | Episode 94: Gaylen Gerrish | 01:28:07
This episode was recorded back in the summer in between some of the dachshund episodes. While visiting Seth Roy, Gaylen also happened to be visiting, and it just made sense to get another long-tenured falconer on the podcast who was involved during the very early days of US falconry. It was a privelege to be able to hear about some of his early days of equipment-making, trapping, and what it was like in general trying to get into falconry before any of the widespread popularity and networking. If you value hearing about some of the early history of falconry, this is another episode for you! 02 Apr 2024 | Episode 107: Michael Calvin | 01:37:46
This was one of handful of episodes that was recorded at the 2023 NAFA meet. This last NAFA meet also happened to be the international (IAF) meet, and presented the chance to sit down with a few falconers from other countries. In this episode, Michael Calvin sits down to discuss and clarify the current state of falconry in Australia, raptor rehabilitation in Australia, and what brought him to eventually settle in Australia in the first place. There's a lot of good information in this episode pertaining to falconry in yet another country, so this is another one you'll want to make sure not to miss! 28 Jan 2025 | Episode 152: David Frank | 01:14:37
This last episode that was recorded in Wyoming early 2024 brings you David Frank, resident of Sheridan and owner of Western Sporting. Many of you listening have probably ordered from Western Sporting before, and this episode will give you the chance to hear more about David and his history. In particular, David talks about his early experiences as an animal trainer, taking advantage of an opportunity to live and work in England and also hawk in Scotland, and of course, and many other things. David and Western Sporting have generously donated items to many state club raffles, including ours in Indiana, so if you've never given them any of your business, please consider heading to westernsporting.com next time you have any falconry supply or book needs! 16 Jul 2024 | Episode 123: Mike Oettinger | 01:27:06
This episode is one of the last few that was recorded while in the New York/New Jersey last summer, courtesy of Casey Everett and crew. As part of that ongoing series discussing falconry in that area, as well as dachshunds in falconry, Mike Oettinger discusses his experiences flying red-tailed hawks over the years, trapping, some of his experiences with apprentices, and of course, incorporating dachshunds in falconry! We have a handful of episodes left from the series meant to feature dachshunds, and a couple left from falconers in the NJ area, so for those of you who can't get enough, enjoy, and for those of you who've had enough, there will be plenty of other stories and experiences for you to take in in the meantime! 18 Jun 2023 | Episode 72: Greg Smith | 00:56:30
In this last jaunt of our Arizona Falconers Association series, we're joined by Greg Smith, who discusses how falconry life has been for him during his years in Kingman, AZ. This episode was a great learning experience, since Greg has imprinted and flown a fair amount of accipiters. He also is one of the few people we've been able to talk to thus far who has experience imprinting an ornate hawk-eagle, and it was very informative finding out about how he approached that process, as well as how he's approached imprinting and working with his other falconry birds over the years. We have one very special episode left in this series before we head off to record our series for South Africa, so we hope you join us for the Arizona Falconers Association series finale coming soon! The series of episodes inspired by the use of dachshunds in falconry that were recorded in New Jersey last year are almost concluded, with Harrison Dalby being one of the last from the Maryland/NJ area yet to be released. Since this recording took place, Harrison has had a full season under his belt with his goshawk and dachshund, and he has also added a lurcher to the team recently as well. In this conversation, he discusses falconry from a newer and younger falconer's perspective, what it's been like having his own business from an early age and how that has also affected his falconry, and how his mindset has pushed his personal goals higher over time. Welcome, and thanks for checking out this first official episode of the newly launched Falconry Chronicles Podcast! Be forewarned, this episode is a lengthy one! It's actually a combination of two different recordings, which took place over the same weekend. Gary was kind enough to take a couple of afternoons to talk at length about his history, which encompasses over four decades in falconry, and discusses how he got into squirrel hawking, discovered his passion for red-tailed hawks, helped with some of the rules and regulations of falconry in Texas, and shared a couple of pretty wild stories! Jenni is also putting together the 2024 NAFA meet, and we plan to record another NAFA Hawk Talk episode soon to let people know more about the details for the upcoming meet. This episode lets us briefly revisit the Western Cape region of South Africa again, where our guest for this episode, Charl Lotriet, is from. Charl was one of the falconers kind enough to host me while I was in South Africa last summer, and he also took me to experience my first safari trip. Charl is relatively new to falconry, and he discusses his experiences getting into the sport. It was interesting hearing his background as a pilot, along with how he got into the sport. 25 Oct 2023 | Episode 89: Teddy Moritz | 01:04:25
We're shaking things up a bit over the next few months of the podcast! This episode brings the start of one of a couple of new series, with this series featuring one of the favorite dog breeds used in falconry: Dachshunds! After meeting the guest for this episode of the podcast for the first time, the inspirational spark for a series featuring this breed was lit. While attending my first dachshund field trials, we fortunately found the time in between Teddy's judging obligations to discuss her long history with this breed and falconry. Credited by many for being the "Godmother" of dachshunds being used in falconry, Teddy Moritz has a wealth of knowledge spanning decades in regards to these little dogs and their uses in falconry and hunting, so you all are in for a treat! 24 Dec 2024 | Episode 147: Pete Jenny | 01:33:37
Continuing on in Wyoming, this episode was one of a handful recorded while in Sheridan. In this fun conversation with Pete Jenny, he talks about his time working with the Peregrine Fund, what it was like starting out in the early days of falconry in the US, traversing the country pursuing different falconry and schooling opportunities, and much more! 20 Feb 2024 | Episode 100: Martin Geleynse | 01:08:40
This episode's guest features another falconer from Canada, Martin Geleynse. Martin is another falconer who's been at it for a very long time, and during that time, he's sure stayed busy! During his years in falconry, he's worked a lot to get falconry regulations approved in Ontario, and he's also currently serving as president of the North American Falconers Association. It was nice getting another perspective on what it's like to juggle these responsibilities along with falconry and life's other responsibilities, so you'll want to hear what he has to say! 29 Nov 2021 | Episode 30: A Tribute to Steve Bodio | 00:48:46
In this finale of the New Mexico Falconer's Association Series, we took some time to talk with Steve Bodio to get a few collective words of wisdom, as well as hear how he got his start into falconry. This is also largely a tribute episode, with falconers Paul Domski, Lauren McGough, and Matt Mullenix kindly taking the time to discuss some of the aspects of Steve's writings that have inspired them, as well as some of their favorite memories with Steve. 27 Aug 2024 | Episode 129: Aaron Kincaid | 02:34:55
This particular week of the Falconry Chronicles Podcast brings you multiple episodes, the first of which is a two part episode that features Aaron Kincaid of Gamekeeper Dachshunds, and of course, Sporting Chance podcast! The first part of this recording was made earlier this year during the New Jersey meet, where we met in person for the first time, and had the chance to be able to run our dogs together. After, we sat down that evening and talked about several of the usual topics, as well as ratting. We later recorded the second part of the episode while in Washington, DC, where we met to go ratting, as well as attempt to pair our dogs for breeding. That trip inspired the Molting Tails ratting content, which will be released as part of the Extras membership. This was a fun episode, and will be followed up later in the week with the first episode of the Falconry Follies series, which will continued to be offered via Extras membership after this first episode. That episode will feature both Aaron and Casey, and will be available later this week, so keep an eye out for it! 16 Mar 2023 | Episode 62: Leonardo Santana | 01:05:51
This fourth episode in our second series featuring falconers from Mexico takes us to our host Gerardo's ranch, where some more amazing duck hawking took place. Shortly after Leo's falcon took a duck, we sat down with Leo to discuss some of the different species he has flown, some of his personal preferences and experiences with some of those species, and some interesting techniques he's used with Cooper's hawks. This episode marks another new experience for the podcast as well, with another new friend and guest on the podcast, Eduardo Garcia, translating for Leo during this conversation. We hope you enjoy! 05 Apr 2023 | Episode 65: Eduardo García Espino | 00:57:11
Our second series featuring falconers from Mexico concludes with Eduardo García Espino. Eduardo was heard previously acting as translator for Leonardo Santana, and before heading back home to the US, we get a chance to discuss his falconry career, consisting mainly of flying Harris's hawks and goshawks primarily on quail. Eduardo also utilizes dogs with his falconry, and he's also known for breeding dogs, particularly his favorite breed, the vizsla. 19 Nov 2024 | Episode 142: Tony and Mel Lyons | 00:58:44
This is the last of the episodes recorded at the THA meet earlier this year featuring falconers from Texas, and it's a fun one! Tony and Mel Lyons joined me to talk about their unique experiences getting introduced to the world of falconry, particularly in regards to their respective apprenticeships and the harder path they had to take during that time. We have some fun at this expense of our mutual friend Sheldon, who you all heard from earlier as a guest, and they also talked about their experiences flying falcons, Cooper's hawks, and other fun stuff! 04 Jun 2024 | Episode 116: Clayton White | 02:36:58
This episode is another lengthy one, and it's packed full with a lot of good information and experiences! A lot of you, especially the falconry book collectors in the community, will probably recognize the name of our guest for this episode. Clayton White, who is the author of Peregrine Quest, and co-author of Peregrine Falcons of the World, gave me the better part of his afternoon a few months ago, so the jaunt was made down to Utah to discuss Clay's tenured history researching birds of prey. 29 Oct 2024 | Episode 139: Don Roeber | 01:18:42
While at the THA meet, I was able to connect with long time falconer Don Roeber for another great episode! Don took some time out of one of his meet days to talk about his many years of falconry experience flying hawks, falcons, and even talks about his experience flying a falcon he rehabilitated at one point. Don has also sponsored some well-known falconers during his time in the sport, and we cover that some as well during our conversation! 20 Aug 2024 | Episode 128: Dave Jamieson | 02:25:13
The Falconry Chronicles Podcast is very happy to be able to bring you this episode with Dave Jamieson! For those of you who aren't aware, Dave has a very long and noteworthy falconry history. Known mostly as one of the first people to successfully breed falcons using artificial insemination, as well as for producing some of the most accomplished genetic lines in falcon breeding throughout the years, Dave has produced a vast array of successful falconry and sky trial-winning falcons. Amongst those things, he also tells some wild stories involving some of his travels around the world, and we even discuss something that really hasn't been discussed much yet with any other guests on the podcast: his personal experiences during Operation Falcon! This episode is another important example of the mission of the podcast, and why such taxing measures are sometimes undergone to make sure these stories and experiences are preserved for the future! 15 Apr 2025 | Episode 163: Austin Moates | 01:32:48
In August of 2024, I got another captive-bred Harris's hawk from this episode's guest, Austin Moates. While at his house, we spent the afternoon talking about his background hunting cottontails and squirrels with red-tailed hawks and Harris's hawks, some of his mentors in getting started with his breeding project, standards in falconry, his time serving in Tennessee's state falconry club, and more! 12 Mar 2024 | Episode 103: A Tribute to Teddy Moritz | 00:55:59
This is another special episode that brings many falconers together to recognize the contributions of another one of their own: Teddy Moritz. The contributions that Teddy has made over the years, not just to the world of falconry and dachshunds, but also to the personal lives of many, have been exceptional. Some of the people who have been impacted by Teddy decided that they'd like to come together to contribute an episode to that earned legacy. Some of these falconers you've already heard in previously released episodes, some you'll hear from in the near future. In this episode, you'll hear from (in this order after the introduction): -Tyler Sladen -Casey Everett -Phil and Paul Eliya -Brian Bradley -Pakorn Patimetha -Madison Abell -Erik Swanson -Harrison Dalby -Zack Bohn -Ryan Corlew -Aaron Kincaid -Kevin Stahler -Paul Thomas -Bill Boler Teddy, thank you again for not only all that you've done for the worlds of dogs and falconry, but also to enrich the lives of so many people. Until next time... Hunt hard, Kill Swiftly, Waste Nothing, and Offer No Apologies! 19 Jul 2023 | Episode 75: Richard Huchzermeyer | 00:55:53
Thanks for joining us for the start of our journey in South Africa! Our first podcast episode of this series organized by the Cape Falconry Club features a conversation with Richard Huchzermeyer. We were able to get this recorded in between breaks during the joint IUCN/IAF conference being held in Cape Town the first weekend I was in South Africa, and along with hearing about Richard's falconry story, this is the first of many educational and informative episodes of how things work with falconry in the South African provinces. We hope you find the series as interesting as we did, and hopefully hearing how falconry is conducted from another country with different provincial perspectives will peak your interests as much as it did ours! We'd also like to thank the Falconry Heritage Trust for helping to sponsor the travel expenses to make this series possible. Our series featuring falconers from the UK concludes with it's seventeenth installment, which features John Mease. John is known in the UK for hunting with golden eagles, and is one of the few currently employed to do so as well! His story of how he has dedicated his life to falconry and ended up in his position hunting with eagles professionally is one you can't miss! 04 Feb 2025 | Episode 153: Tyler Wright | 02:16:33
This episode is another nice and lengthy one, consisting of two different parts. The first part of the episode was recorded over a year ago when Tyler stopped through and recorded in studio on his way back home from St. Louis on a dog errand. At that time, we discussed what it's been like starting up multiple businesses, some of his experiences flying red-tailed hawks, kestrels, and a great-horned owl, and also what it was like starting into falconry at a young age. The second half was recorded after we got done hunting one day at this past NAFA meet in Liberal, KS, and he talks more about the aftermath of his first owl experiences, plus what it's been like flying his second great-horned owl. This episode has been long in the making, but it just made more sense to release it all together to bridge off of the experiences Tyler has had over the last year, especially with the owls. You can also hear more with Tyler in the February Falconry Follies Extras content as well! Enjoy! While meeting up and recording at Dave Jamieson's place, I was also able to record a few others, including Mark Moglich. 27 Feb 2024 | Episode 101: Randy Watson | 01:00:28
This episode takes us back down to Eastern Texas to talk about some good ol' fashioned squirrel hawking! I have to acknowledge and give props to this episode's guest, Randy Watson, for helping to make a lot of these Texas-based episodes happen with falconers on his side of the state, including the recent Gary Brewer episode. Randy was generous enough to contact me and have me down to get these recordings made late last year, and it was great getting to hear how he met Gary and initially got into falconry. 19 Oct 2023 | Episode 88: Mike McDermott | 01:37:00
This episode has taken awhile to come to fruition, but thanks to some mutual friends (and some bourbon!), Mike McDermott has agreed to come on the podcast to discuss his falconry experiences with us. Amongst other things, we talk about passage Cooper's hawks, imprint goshawks vs. chamber/parent reared goshawks, and the motivations for writing books. He also discusses his change in mindset throughout his years in falconry as well. There's a lot of great stuff in this episode, but just a heads up, there's some "colorful" language at times in this episode, so just consider yourself warned! 24 Sep 2024 | Episode 134: Ryan Corlew | 01:51:57
Shortly after landing in Dallas late last year to record the first of many episodes in Eastern TX, I made a stop to sit down and talk with the maker of fine shivs, Ryan Corlew. Many of you may have such a shiv from Shivalrous Designs, Ryan's company, and know how awesome they are, especially you squirrel hawkers out there! I'm a proud owner of one as well, and definitely put it to good use! Ryan also incorporates dachshunds into his falconry, and amongst other things, discusses some of the different things he's had to do to get his team of Harris's and dogs working together, and also some of his different experiences hunting and living in different parts of the country. There's going to be many more from Texas coming soon, as I continue to try and rollout the episodes recorded from earlier in the year from the Texas Hawking Association meet, so enjoy! 05 Jun 2023 | Episode 70: Tim Riordan | 01:17:47
These next couple of installments of the Arizona Falconers Association series take us down to Tucson, where we met first with Tim Riordan. In this episode, on top of sharing his experiences flying imprint Cooper's hawks and various longwings, Tim also shares some of his initial falconry experiences as another one of the people starting in the sport before a lot of the regulations were put into effect, and what it was like later being involved with the process of getting peregrine take back for the state of Arizona. Being as Arizona was the first state to be able to take eyas peregrines again after being on the endangered list for so long, this is an episode that offers another good perspective on what goes on behind the scenes with falconry organizations as they work to keep our sport active. 26 Jul 2023 | Episode 76: André Cilliers | 01:12:14
In this second episode coming to you from the Cape Falconry Club, we're joined by its chairman, André Cilliers, and he does a great job of going into further detail about how falconry is regulated and conducted in the Western Cape. He also discusses his use of dogs in his falconry and what led him to choose his current dog, his journey to flying longwings, and some of the other challenges he's had to face in his position along with his personal falconry. He was also very instrumental in helping to organize and coordinate this series, and without his help, it probably wouldn't have happened, so we're very appreciative of his invitation to attend the CFC meet! 11 Jun 2024 | Episode 117: NJ Roundtable Discussion | 01:32:46
While recording the bulk of the ongoing dachshund series last summer in New Jersey, Paul Eliya, Casey Everett, Pakorn Patimetha (who you'll hear from soon), and Erik Swanson decided to sit down and have a group discussion, highlighting different viewpoints on a couple of continual hot topics within the falconry community: the use of social media by falconers, and the US falconry sponsorship system. These topics can spawn some heated debates amongst the falconry community, but the participants in this episode wanted to come together to discuss their opinions. This is another first for the podcast, and while you all may or may not agree with the different participants' views on these topics, we hope that this episode inspires constructive thoughts and tasteful conversations/debates within the community! 13 Sep 2023 | Episode 83: Dr. Edmund Oettlé | 00:55:27
As we come closer to ending this series showcasing some of the wonderful falconry in South Africa, Dr. Edmund Oettlé joins us in this ninth episode of the series to discuss some of his experiences in the sport, and experience is something he has no shortage of! On top of being one of the falconers responsible for getting falconry legalized in the Western Cape, he has also had an interesting career as a veterinarian. To add to this, he also decided later on to switch careers and start making wine, so juggling all of that along with his falconry and family responsibilities produced a very intriguing conversation! We have just a few episodes left before this series concludes, so enjoy!
