2022 Christmas Special- The Sheepherder’s Moment

This special Holiday episode is one way we want to thank you for listening and supporting our “Faith In Your Recovery Podcast” where we share all things recovery. Our Christmas message comes from Luke 2:6-20 and is about the experience of the shepherds on that first Christmas morning. We think you will be surprised at the multiple parallels between these culturally lowlife shepherds of Jesus’ day and those that battle addiction today. You will see how both groups have had to deal with stigma, bias, prejudice, worthlessness and more. However, it has many times been flawed individuals that God has used to reach a flawed world. Listen and you will hear how “The Word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood.” In closing, remember, “It’s a Boy!”

We understand the holiday season can prove to be hard for many. Please visit https://www.ablbh.org/locations-1 if you are in need of a meeting and/or support at anytime, even during the holidays.

01 Aug 20222021 Christmas Special- The Innkeeper00:23:29

Christmas is an awesome and powerful time. It is a promise fulfilled, the birth of unending hope, and speaks about the impact of our choices. Jesus’ birth and life are proof of his ability to identify with the rejected and the neglected, the oppressed and the misunderstood, the outcasts and the poor. You can’t tell Jesus, “He doesn’t get it.” Isaiah 5:3 makes it clear that He indeed understands suffering and sorrow and struggle and challenge.

Join us and hear the story of Wallace Purling and the decision he made as the “Innkeeper” in the local Christmas pageant. Then answer for yourself if you have room in your heart to forgive without understanding, to accept without knowing what the result may be, to forgive those that have doubted and wronged you and ask for forgiveness from those you have wronged? This episode is about far more than addiction. It is about who we are, and all that God created us to be. Every day should have room for a bit of Christmas and a bit of Easter.

13 Jan 2023Ep63 Mike Gliem 00:41:27

“You will never (again) walk, talk, write, communicate clearly or function normally." This is what Mike was told after taking a hammer to the head over a $20 deal gone bad. Twenty years of addiction, eight years of homelessness, failed attempts at suicide, several years in the ICU and months of being referred to as “John Doe,” is how he existed before an encounter with God. Mike was at a point physically where his only communication skill was listening. As God spoke, Mike did just that. Like the hummingbird that science says can’t fly flies, Mike recovered. He is now an author, sought-after speaker and the director of a not for profit providing food, hope, resources and recovery to many.
