The questions range in topic but are answered from the points of view of our hosts. This is a very informative episode that may answer questions that you personally have had. EP 126: The Scouting Season Begins. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast Jason and Adam discuss Summer scouting as they drive to Oregon. Every year each hunter has to take a look at his or her schedule and make a plan of attack for the hunts. Which tags to focus on, which areas to scout the most, and how to scout each individual unit for the season dates that you're faced with. There are a lot of factors and a lot of things to consider. You'll get some great ideas from this conversation.

EP 115: Applying in Colorado, Idaho, and Montana. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast the Epic Outdoors staff talks about things to consider when applying in Colorado, Idaho and Montana. Each state is very different and it is important to know each state before applying. Colorado has undergone major changes again this year as far as the structure of their system. EP 122: State Draw Systems and Trad Bows with Harold Fahrenbrook. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast Jason and Adam talk with Harold Fahrenbrook. Harold has been hunting traditional archery for most of his life and is very close to completing the North American 29. Harold is also very passionate about state draw systems, especially in his home state of Colorado. We discuss opinions on what states could do to improve and how we can each navigate the various draw systems that are available to big game hunters. Harold talks of frustrations with how the draw tag system is set up in Colorado and how he feels it could be improved.

Escape from a Frigid Alaskan River with Aaron Bronson. In this episode we talk with Aaron Bronson and hear his near death story from Alaska 2020. Lessons learned and gear that saved his life. When you are wet and cold in Alaska a fire can make the difference in life and death. The difference in this case was Pyro Putty and the Pyro Putty lighter. We also talk about the 2020 hunting season and our outlook on 2021.

EP 92: DIY Caribou in Alaska with Jeff John and The Epic Crew. In this episode of The Epic Outdoors Podcast, Jeff tells us about his recent trip to Alaska for self-guided DIY Caribou. Jeff along with his dad and brother made the long trip and were successful on 3 nice bulls. After months of preparation and planning, new gear, and preventative maintenance on equipment Jeff and his family set out to Alaska with a camp trailer and four wheelers in tow. The stars aligned and Jeff and crew had timed the trip perfectly to hit the Caribou migration. EP 206: News of the West. Draws and Drought. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we go through new of the west including draw updates draw deadlines in the western states. We also talk with Outfitter David Matthews about Arizona and New Mexico, drought, Mule Deer, Elk, and Coues Deer. We then hear from Eric Hunt of Arizona Desert Outfitters. Eric drew for the National Park Bison project. There is a lot happening this time of year and were ready for scouting. 

Chasing Tags and Antelope. This week we spent some time in Nevada chasing antelope with members of the Epic Outdoors Staff. Wyatt Bowles and Devin Archibald both took 80"+ antelope. Although we have downplayed the difficulty of antelope hunts in the past the hunts werent without their challenges. As hunters we learn to roll with the punches, adapt, and adjust to circumstances. That is exactly what we had to do in these situations. When all was said and done we came home with two great bucks. Devin is in the office and shares his story with us all. 

In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast Jason Carter talks with Alberta Outfitter Mike Ukrainetz of Mikes Outfitting. Mike is well known for consistently harvesting giant black bears in northern Alberta. Jason and Mike talk about the difficulty of harvesting a giant black bear and many of the factors that go into the making of a giant bear. They also talk extensively about baiting and the effects of hunting on a healthy bear population. If you are interested in black bears, management, genetics, baiting, this is an episode you wont want to miss.

EP 85: Finding Hunting Opportunities.  Adam Bronson, Jason Carter, and Jeff John talk about the upcoming hunting season. Jason sits down with Robby Denning as a guest on the RokCast Podcast to talk about everything Mule Deer. Robby Denning has been a long time friend of Jason and the Epic Crew, so naturally we were excited to talk to him and hear about how things are going in Idaho, Wyoming and the rest of the Western US.

Robby has been primarily a Mule Deer hunter his whole life, rarely hunting anything else. With that much passion and knowledge of Mule Deer, we were sure it would be an educational and interesting sit down, and we were not dissapointed. We talk everything from deer management strategies to the bucks that got away and those that didn’t!

On this episode Adam and Jason sit down with the host of the Finding Backcountry Podcast Dustin Wittwer to talk about western Mule deer management and the Muleys Matter Movement. Dustin was one of the first supporters of Muleys Matter, especially after seeing the issues Mule deer face in his home state of Wyoming. Dustin is also the owner of Backpack Logistics, a company that helps you plan and pack meals for any hunting trip.

Adam Bronson's 2023 Archery Mule Deer hunt was a nail biter. From spooking him twice to forgetting a knife to skin him with, it was great to sit down and hear the whole story. It was a tough hunt that required some master level hunting skills from Adam, or as Devin would call them "Ninja Hunting Skills".

We also talk about the rest of the crew's early season tags and where everyone will be for the next few weeks.

EP 81: Spring Bear Hunting with the Epic Crew. In this episode of The Epic Outdoors Podcast we sit down and talk about recent and ongoing spring bear hunts from Jason, Chris, and Jeff. Jason recently returned from hunting Brown bears in Alaska, Chris killed a black bear in Montana, and Jeff currently has a Black bear tag in Utah. Kevin has been guiding Coues deer for many years and has been involved in talking some very significant bucks over the past decade. The Coues, is a subspecies of the white-tailed deer. The Coues deer is much smaller than most of its eastern cousins. Bucks stand just over 30 inches at the shoulder and rarely weigh over 100 pounds. Does average 65 pounds. Coues deer are a very unique and interesting species. Enjoy!

Brushes with Death and Brown Bear, Jesse Tatman. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk with longtime hunting guide, Jesse Tatman. In October of 2021 while leading his pack horses back to the trailhead another hunter heard the approaching horses, thought it was a bear, and began shooting at Jesse and his horses. Jesse recounts seeing the muzzle blast at close range and the events that transpired. He also shared several charging brown bear stories from years of guiding in Alaska.
