101: Prejudice, Blame and How We Can All Relate.
00:12:38
" I woke up this morning looking for someone to blame. Someone to hate. Someone who I could make the single target of my fear about the officers killed in Dallas and the killing of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. It was such a desperate feeling to want to discharge the uncertainty and scarcity. Then it dawned on me that this is the exact drive that fueled what's happening right now.
Instead of feeling hurt we act out our hurt. Rather than acknowledging our pain, we inflict it on others. Neither hate nor blame will lead to the justice and peace that we all want - it will only move us further apart. But we can't forget that hate and blame are seductive. Anger is easier than grief. Blame is easier than real accountability. When we choose instant relief in the form of rage, we're in many ways choosing permanent grief for the world." - Brene Brown
1091: [Parenting] "How I'm Coping While My Kid Solo Travels"

Why I'm surprised (and yet not surprised) by my reaction
How trust & communication skills play a big role in our relationship
Why waiting to 'do the work' is the worst plan ever!

00:19:25
"It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The Wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting it's sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone." - Rose Kennedy

152: The Optical Illusion Of Pretending to BE Alive
00:29:35
"My legs were barely touching the bathroom floor as I struggled to untie my oversized scrubs and rest my tired, unmotivated glutes on the cold hard plastic of the toilet seat. Being the short petite woman I am, I’ve always wondered what it would feel like to stand next to someone and not feel like they were looking down at me. Over time I discovered that if you stand far away enough from others you give off the optical illusion of being taller than you actually are. In this case, I was unable to hide, no one to distance myself from, just me and my short stocky legs barely able to ground myself while I pulled out the pregnancy test strip from my shirt pocket..."
