I've done a version of this before but when I opened up a conversation with Thomas he mentioned how he enjoyed painting while chatting THUS this challenge was born!  Using the amazing app https://www.conceptstart.net​ I randomly generated a brief that TCK could accomplish in 90 mins, we tried to at times stop and talk about his thinking process and what his approach was to character concept. I first met Finnian at Industry Workshops 2018 and was stunned to find someone so young making such a huge impact on the concept art world. I quickly found out that he had worked on some of the biggest franchises in the industry. Starting from Art Centre Fin left early to join the God of War team where he stayed for just a year then moving onto ILM and working on massive movie projects. He's spent many years travelling and taking in the living world until recently where he moved back to LA and has now opened his own studios TERRAFORM. We talked about his humble beginnings and his adventures in art and try to make sense of this stellar career.

I've been a fan of Clinton's work and his studio for a long time. Since 2018 I've been seeing and hearing about the projects and environments they've been creating online in the Dekogon studio. Clinton began on some epic projects including Gear of War but soon found the life and balance he wanted as an artist. I had the absolute pleasure of speaking to Bobby the other day which has been on my bucket list for a while. I've been a fan of Outplay for a long time ever since I went back to university in 2015. Outplay are one of the biggest mobile developers not only in the UK and Scotland but in the EU also. They've partnered with brands like Rovio working on Angry Bird titles including a new mobile game featuring Gordon Ramsey. Edit: We recorded this interview early august and Tim's views on NFTs, crypto and Ai have shifted towards a negative side due to current situations in the past few months he is pro regulation to make sure all artists and people in general aren’t ripped off or taken advantage of and he believes we need to do all we can to protective our work and ourselves. Tim and I met randomly online but it's been fun picking his hard surface brain for all manner of cool stuff. Tim spent his days working contracts to eventually land at 343 where he's worked on multiple Halo projects including the latest and greatest Halo Infinite. We chatted about his early career and breaking into the industry as well as tips to stay a float on contract work when times are tough.

I first came across Steven while he was chatting with James Douglas (akaModerndayjames) and Ahmed. He seemed so educated and well spoken as well as being a genuinely nice human being. I first bumped into Samma at 2018's IAMAG festival. He was showing some of his work off and I was amazed at how epic his compositions, lighting and colour were. Since I've been on YouTube one artist has been a constant in my feed since 2015. Tyler has always put out quality content and taught at CGMA for multiple years but I heard his journey wasn't always smooth. Danar has been on my radar ever since I got a look at his work back in 2017. He had recently joined the ranks of One Pixel Brush and had been producing amazing work. Outside of that however Danar had been publishing works that were making most 2D artists as "how?" his process of blending 2D, 3D, photos and textures made us all wonder if there was some sort of magic behind it. Thankfully I got the opportunity to sit down with Danar and talk about where he started and how his different industry gigs led him to this amazing style he now uses daily.   We of course broke down his process and approach to working on The Last of Us Part 2 and what his feelings were while tackling such an ambitious project.   Thanks again to Danar for giving up his time to talk to me.

Phillip Boutte Jr. the man the myth the legend finally had some time for us fellow mortals to come down and talk about his most epic of career. I got a glimpse of Jude's work when he made a tribute character to Kojima's Death Stranding. Then recently he demoed at IFCC Festival showing off his process for creating characters. After trolling the internet machine and sitting on YouTube during lunch I discovered a few new podcasts to fill the wee hours I have between projects. Craig was someone I knew about before I added him on socials. An industry vet who started his career at SEGA working on games like Alex Kidd and of course Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Later Craig would find himself at INSOMNIAC GAMES and working on cutting edge tech even pitching ideas including the invention of Spyro the Dragon. He rounded out his career working on the Ratchet & Clank series but we talked at length about Craig leaving after 4 games and how the burnout he experienced has stayed with him many years later.  I met Gio at THU one year and was a fan of his talk about how he had overcome years of searching to find his place in the industry. I've been watching Hannah's progress as she's worked her way through the 3D world including working at studios like Coatsink, Dekogon Studios and of course now UBISOFT Reflections. Hannah's personality and passion for the industry are infectious and her ability to dive into multiple tasks and projects always inspires me to keep pushing in m own work. I was absolutely thrilled  when she agreed to come on the podcast and chat about her work and life up until this point.  We talked about her early beginnings in the hills and lands of Scotland studying game art then moving onto QA testing and eventually game design and art. We also talked about mental struggles and overcoming barriers and blocks when energy and morale is low.

Esben has been (like most artist I speak to) someone I've wanted to chat with for a long time. I've followed his work since his days at SIXMOREVODKA and really can't understand how he magics up some of his illustrations. I've been a massive fan of point and click adventures all my life and of course one of the biggest of those has always been the games that were made at Lucasarts in the 90s. Behind all those amazing titles were some of the best scores and music ever composed for video games and I had the absolute pleasure of speaking to the man behind that vision Mr Peter McConnell.Peter McConnell has composed award-winning scores for a diverse range of video games including Broken Age, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the Sly Cooper series, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Psychonauts, Brutal Legend and Grim Fandango. Before working independently, Peter composed in-house at LucasArts contributing to beloved franchises such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Monkey Island.

Henrik and me go way back, we started out studying in the same art group in 2014 and quickly became buddies chatting back and forth. A few years went by and we tried to catch up and I was floored how far he had came in the last 5 years. I've known Marek for a good few years now and he's one of the most accomplished concept artists in the industry. He's worked on multiple large scale projects including The Witcher 3 and more recenelty Cyberpunk 2077. We sat down to catch up after our inital conversation in 2016 after his talk at industry workshops in London. Marek has continued to raise the bar for his work standards and also that of his team. We chatted about his time on Cyberpunk and what it meant to him and his peers. We also talked about the industry and how becoming a concept artist is getting harder each year, but not impossible. I've been a fan of Darren's work since Bastion first hit the gaming scene back in the early 2010s. His consistent great work and ability to convey any kind of mood or tone with his audio really impressed me. As the podcast is now 4 years old we begin to mature and look to other disciplines to inform and strengthen our own. Darren was an easy pick for that first venture into something different. Hitting episode 20 is a big step for me, back when i created this Podcast i never knew that this would ever get this far along. Well..This has been a long time coming! It's been an age, and I apologise guys! These last two months have been tough and by god i'm glad I've graduated finally BUT that's no excuse.
