• RB Jerome Bettis Jr follows in fathers steps and committed to Notre Dame

• The 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame finalized a new $1.3 billion television contract for the College Football Playoff with ESPN. The new contract is expected to pay the Big Ten and SEC 29% of the upcoming contract, sources told CBS Sports, which works out to approximately $22 million per school. The ACC will receive 17% ($13-14 million per school) and the Big 12 will sit around 15% ($12 million per school). The numbers represent a raise across the board as all Power Five institutions receive approximately $5 million per school in the previous contract. The Group of Five will split 9% of the contract, but the number may not be split evenly among the teams and five conferences. The independent schools will split 1%, while Notre Dame will get the bulk at around $12 million.

• The NCAA Rules Committee expected to approve new rules on April 18th. In-helmet communication, 2-minute timeouts, tablet usage on sidelines (18), 15-yard horse-collar tackle penalties within the tackle box, uniform violations (loss of TO or penalty).

• NCAA is pausing all investigations into 3rd party NIL deals after loss in court

• Trev Alberts is leaving Nebraska to become Texas A & M’s new athletic director

• FOX to air a package of games on Friday nights

• The early three day signing period moves up three weeks, before the conference championship games. The early signing period will now start the Wednesday after Thanksgiving weekend

• EA Sports has announced that over 10000 athletes have accepted NIL deal for the college video game ($600 and copy of game per player)

• UCLA hired Deshaun Foster as their new Head Coach

• Former Alabama HC Nick Saban expected to be a part of college gameday

• Texas to approve contract extension to HC Steve Sarkisian thru the 2030 season. The extension includes $100,000 annual raises that will push Sarkisian's guaranteed salary to $10.9 million by the final year. He also gets a one-time $300,000 bonus payment and 20 hours of personal use every year on the school's private plane. Sarkisian is eligible to earn more than $1.5 million in bonuses if the Longhorns win a national championship. His original contract called for him to get paid $5.8 million in 2024. According to the regents' agenda, the raises are a 78% overall increase in Sarkisian's guaranteed compensation.

• Defensive tackle Tyree Turner has transferred from South Alabama to UAB as a graduate transfer. Has battled some injuries early in career.  Has good size at 6’1”/305 and has produced 129 tackles, 21tackles for loss & 8½ sacks
  
• Oregon receives commitment from 4★DB Jaylin Davies. He plays for national powerhouse Mater Dei in California and ranks as the 12th best corner in the 2021 recruiting class. A natural corner with good length.
  
• R-Sophomore linebacker Dillon Doyle transferred from Iowa State to Baylor. He was expected to start for the Cyclones this season. Immediate eligibility is now the biggest question
  
• Defensive end Cody Roscoe transferred from McNeese State to Syracuse. The EDGE rusher has a good frame at 6’1”/247 but needs to add some bulk. Had a terrific season last year for the Cowboys with 42 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 9 sacks & 10 pbu’s.
  
• Safety Scottie Young transferred from Arizona to West Virginia as grad transfer. He recorded 157 tackles and 5 interceptions in 31 games for the Wildcats.
  
• Defensive end Deangelo Malone of Western Kentucky is a 2021 prospect to watch. He was the CUSA DPOY in 2019 with 99 tackles, 20.5 for loss & 11 sacks. At 6’4”/230 has a good frame but needs to bulk up.

• On Sunday afternoon the USC Trojans got a major recruiting flip as they got 2025 5★ DL Justus Terry to switch his commitment to the Trojans, from the Georgia Bulldogs. Terry is ranked the #2 DL at the position & #8 overall recruit in the class.

• Hours later the Trojans also landed 2025 5★ EDGE Isaiah Gibson from Warner Robbins, Georgia. Gibson is ranked the 8th-best EDGE & 76th overall player and had 17 sacks with 55 QB hits last fall as a junior.

• RB Trevor Etienne was charged with DUI & reckless driving early Sunday morning.

• The SEC elected to stay with an eight-game conference schedule for 2025 & their first season since 1991 with no divisions

• Clemson files suit against ACC to leave the conference

• Alabama lands a commitment from 2025 4★ Darrell Johnson who is ranked as the 5th best LB and 48th player overall.

News & notes 

• Penn State will be without the services of Defensive Tackle Alonzo Ford Jr, a transfer from ODU who is out for the season due to injury.  Ford was expected to see time as a rotational player along the defensive line for the Nittany Lions.

• Washington has suspended freshman defensive back Diesel Gordon indefinitely.  When questioned about the issue Head Coach Kalen Deboer said the issues “were serious enough” to warrant a suspension and that he didn’t feel the freshman was being accountable.  Gordon was a 3-star recruit from Texas and was expected to provide depth for the Huskies' defensive backfield this season.

• There is speculation that Apple may try and purchase ESPN from Disney.  Disney purchased ESPN for $19 billion in 1996.  Expectations are that it would sell for 3 times that currently.

• Will the Georgia Bulldogs three-peat?

• Last year's average of 28.38 ppg was the lowest in the FBS since 2011

• SMU raised $100 million in 7 days to help with their transition to the ACC

• After three weeks of college football there are seven teams that remain winless - East Carolina, UConn, Virginia, Sam Houston State, Nevada, Buffalo, and Colorado State

• The Pac-12’s remaining two members (Oregon State & Washington State) have taken legal action against the ten departing members to prevent them from making any decisions about the future of the conference

• After years of decline nationwide in the number of high school football players, it grew 5.6% last season, nearly double any other sport since covid began

What is our outlook on Clemson’s incoming #1 freshman DT, Bryan Bresee?

Darrell - Was #1 overall recruit in 2020 by 247 Sports Composite. 1st thing that stands out is his size. He’s a man among boys in these high school games. At 6’5” / 290 lbs he has the frame to play both inside or outside. Very strong and powerful. Displays some quick hands and 1st step quickness. Will be a huge jump in competition for him. The toolbox

is somewhat limited due to not being challenged enough on the field.
