After an 11 year journey, Emilia was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2018. Shortly after she launched her Instagram platform @livingwithendometriosis__ with the purpose of raising awareness for the condition. Emilia is working to spread awareness & support those living with Endometriosis or struggling to get a diagnosis, women who are on a journey to conceive or are navigating motherhood with a chronic illness, plus those dealing with medical trauma and much more. 

Today on the show Emilia will share her journey to diagnosis, her advocacy work, motherhood, trying to conceive and her skin journey throughout it all. We will also chat about the future of Endometriosis and what others should know.

Today we are incredibly excited to have Polly Harding, better known as ‘PJ’, on the show! Known for her genuine, relatable and hilarious work on Australian and New Zealand radio, she is now living in New Zealand with her fiancé and beautiful baby boy, Charlie, who is only a few weeks old. We are very lucky to have Polly on the show so soon, as a new baby is not easy work by any means, but we cannot wait to share her story and have a few laughs with you all.

With a career spanning over ten years in radio, Polly began working as a host on evenings and daytime radio in New Zealand, before meeting host Jase Hawkins. Together they co-hosted ZM’s National Drive and in 2018 they made the big move to Melbourne to host breakfast on KIIS. It wasn’t until April 2020, Polly decided to leave the show and make the move back home. Why? Well, if you haven’t heard, we will talk all about it in today’s episode. 

But, don’t be fooled, Polly is still hard at work on her own show called the PJ Podcast, which comes out weekly featuring guests from all walks of life. We don’t want to give it all away, so we will hear about this and lots more very soon…

Today we welcome Sunrise News Presenter Natalie Barr.  A timely interview in the lead up to International Women's day when we recognise and applaud the women of the world, who, like Nat are an inspiration to us all.  We ask Nat, as a hard working Mother of 2(now) teenage boys…..What is one thing you would say to any of our listeners today who may be struggling in this space … and who want to continue with their career?

 Natalie grew up in WA and after dropping out of Uni took a cadetship with a local newspaper.  As a journalist she has worked in newspaper, radio and television. She had a stint in Los Angeles where she was awarded a Golden Mic for best newscast writing and was nominated for a Los Angeles area Emmy Award for her work on the infamous O J Simpson car chase. (brings back memories!)

At the end of 1994, Natalie returned to Australia and joined Seven News in Sydney as a Reporter and news presenter. In 2003 she joined the Sunrise programme and has been presenting the news ever since.  

Nat is considered a highly-valued and integral part of the Sunrise team, and  has been Full Time at Seven for 25 years.

We are so excited and privileged to host the incredible Tamara Reid as our guest on our podcasts series, 'The Business of Skin'.

Tamara’s impressive career has progressed from the Spa sector of the skin therapy field, to Clinic and Spa Management spanning multiple sites, through a love for ‘team’ and empowerment of therapists and managers under her leadership.

With a further passion for knowledge and education, Tamara conducted state based training and business development for Australia’s largest day spa franchise across NSW and Queensland which has given her such valuable hands on experience. 

Tamara of course didn’t stop there - a further quest for progression saw her extend her experience across Australasia, adding Australia’s largest laser franchise to her bow; working with business owners across Australia and New Zealand.

Today Tamara leads the way through Beaute Industrie, a powerful online business and tangible community for the professional beauty industry. She has become a household name in our industry, and has consciously curated a diverse and inclusive community of beauty professionals which I just love to see unfolding.

So who is Rebecca Miller? She is one of the most remarkable business woman,  an entrepreneur, mother, business coach, motivational speaker and team leader that I have met… and what a perfect time to delve deep into the achievements of such an inspiring woman, as we have just celebrated IWD  and continue the year with the #choosetochallenge campaign. Rebecca certainly challenges the status quo.

With over 25 years experience in the skin and beauty industry as a whole, captivating world class knowledge and education, Rebecca has built the successful award winning La Bella Medispa clinics, educated herself to become the Skin Expert that she is, and has successfully launched The Skin Whisperer and the revolutionary SkinFit90 skin transformational program.  A big call to her purpose is inspiring women to lead their best life. 

Rebecca named La Bella Medispa after her daughter Isabella and the Italian meaning beautiful women. She had a vision to bring her leading Skin, Beauty and Laser Clinics to the rural and regional women of Australia; a vision that certainly has become a reality.

You may recognise Pia’s name from one of our previous podcasts with us on digestion and the "gut-skin axis" as well as her warm tone and voice through her educational posts on social media and in Dermascope magazine, the ASDC blog, Spa Beauty NZ and also the APJ Journal.

A beauty business owner herself, Pia has now transitioned into providing holistic education relating a myriad of relevant lifestyle factors and their impact upon the digestive system, and how that influences skin, for therapists and their clients across the country and around the world. 

We have previously talked about digestion and gut health and its effects on your well being and of course SKIN, and today we are venturing further into Pia’s world and expertises by exploring the effects that stress and our emotions have on skin …

Margaret has been instrumental with so many developments in the field of skin-through your pioneering work with the New Zealand Association of Beauty Therapists, pro-actively working with students as they learn the tricks of the trade, your never-ending commitment to training in the skin treatment clinic, and of course continual extension to post graduate education by working closely with industry experts such as Florence Barrett-Hill, or as you say, Number One! 

Margaret, you are an exceptionally experienced educator, trainer and business consultant; and you have an insatiable passion for people and learning. It’s interesting to know this stems from earlier training qualifying as a teacher, before attaining Honours in Beauty Therapy and post graduate qualifications longer than your arm! 

Entering the skin treatment industry with gusto, you quickly went on to open the award winning beauty therapy and hairdressing business; Face and Body in Titirangi, Auckland.

Sharing all of these skills and passion as Margaret Walsh Consulting, the goal is to see beauty therapy businesses grow and thrive, working with them to create winning business systems, train and develop their team, and attract and retain the right customers.

Margaret is also the only licensed New Zealand distributor for the OBSERV Visual Skin Diagnostic Tool, a revolutionary product developed in Europe. I know many of our dermaviduals Partner clinics are in possession of one of these and agree it is revolutionary to the Skincare industry to be able to see beneath the skin..

Brooke has been with us at derma aesthetics for over two years and is an integral part of the team. Brooke is our Victorian, South Australian and Tasmanian Business Development Manager and is a Dermal Clinician holding a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Dermal Science from Victoria University. Brooke has a strong passion for skin and education. 
Brooke thoroughly enjoys utilising her academic writing skills to produce informative, educational pieces which she utilises here at Derma Aesthetics. She devotes her time and energy to self-development and thrives on learning. Brooke believes that education is key in this ever-growing industry. 

We are going to tackle the topic of Rosacea and how it affects the skin and the person who is suffering from this skin condition.

Truly a great concluding discussion on rosacea that highlights the extent of the dermaviduals mission to changing lives, not just skin. 

Today we are very excited to have Lia Trebilcock back on the show with us! Lia has been a leader in the Skin Industry for over 18 years. Lia’s passion for skin and working with skin conditions began while she owned her own clinic and worked alongside Naturopaths to get to the bottom of skin imbalances. Using a combination of nutritional support, professional treatments and home care to create healthy, vibrant and balanced skin. 

 Today, we are going to focus on Collagen Induction Therapy, also known as skin needling.  Lia’s experience with CIT spans over a decade, from home rolling to automation.  Having worked and trained with multiple devices, Lia now only uses Exceed Medical Micro Needling, distributed by us here, at derma aesthetics.  Later in our podcast I am sure we will find out why this is her device of choice!
