Today is new music Monday with my guest Robert Jon of the great band Robert Jon & the Wreck. This Orange County California band had been grinding it out since 2011.

They have a brand new record coming out June 28th 2024 called Red Moon Rising on Journeyman Records which is my man Joe Bonamassa's record label.

The record was produced by the legendary producer Kevin Shirley who is known for his work with The Black Crowes, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith , Journey and so many other great bands.

This interview was done a few days ago while Robert Jon was in Savanna Georgia working on yet another record that is being produced by the king Dave Cobb.

Sure i had seen concerts before stumbling into the Phoenix back in 1980 but this was something entirely new. It was up close in your face raw Rock n Roll served up in a tiny theater in Petaluma California.

Some of the shows i saw in the Phoenix include Metallica Megadeth Devo The Ramones Eddie Money Mr Bungle and on and on and on.

It was also a venue i cut my live teeth in playing Rock music with my band and learning the ropes of Live Rock n Roll.

Tom is the Willie Wonka of Rock and like a big brother 2 me.

Today I sit down in the box office of one of the greatest Rock n Roll venues in America the Cow Palace located in San Francisco.

I recently was up in the Bay Area doing some Stand Up Comedy and Andrew Shreve reached out and said he works at the Cow Palace and asked if I would like to come take a tour and maybe do a podcast in the venue. I screamed YES YES YES and headed over to the venue for a full on tour of the very building that gave me all my Rock n Roll memories. 

I know the building inside and out but to be able to sit down and hear the History from Andrew and Jeff Ewald was next level.

Everyone has that classic memory of some great concert they went to but take a second and think about the venue. So many of these classic venues are gone now unfortunately. The stories the Cow Palace walls could tell would be insane.

Jeff and I sat down in the legendary Box Office of the Cow Palace surrounded by a who's who of Autographs on the walls and dove into the history of this incredible Venue.

This was a dream come true and they even had my name on the Marque.

Turns out it was made by hand in NYC by non other than Jordan Betten at Lost Art Leathers.

We quickly became friends and I started my collection.

Everyone in the music world was wearing his jackets from Lenny Kravitz to Willie Nelson.

After 20 years Jordan walked away from leather and started building custom made Choppers in Miami at Rasta Choppers.

The first time Akio Sakurai hears Led Zeppelin as a teenager, and then laid eyes on the band in The Song Remains the Same, the group's 1976 concert documentary, Sakurai has had one mission in life: to demonstrate his adoration of Zeppelin founder Jimmy Page. He is completely candid about this: "I want to be Jimmy Page," he remembers thinking.

The film is an amazing Document of what it's like to dive way down a rabbit hole. Passion is in full effect here.
