17 Sep 2024Leadership w/ Annie Hyman Pratt - DTL #3001:10:35

Join Chris and me in welcoming Annie Hyman Pratt to the show this week! As the CEO of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, she grew the company from a small family business into an international brand, overseeing its high-value sale. Today Annie is the founder of Leading Edge Teams, one of the top leadership and team development consulting firms in the world. She has also been a member of my Platinum Plus Mastermind for years, and I’ve brought her on board time and time again to improve the way my team communicates and operates. In today’s chat, she guides us through some of the key components of her approach. The central focus is how our survival instincts tend to cause problems in our businesses, and what we can do to mitigate those primal reactions. When it comes to conflict negotiation, team leadership, and organizational structure, Annie is the go-to expert.

Find more from Annie at: https://leadingedgeteams.com

Book a Discovery Call: https://leadingedgeteams.com/schedule-a-discovery-call/

Key topics discussed:

  • Self-Protection: Annie explains why employees sometimes act from a place of self-protection, which negates much of their critical thinking capacity.

  • Building a Leadership Team: To ever have a chance of removing yourself from the day-to-day, you need to assemble a strong core of leaders across all departments..

  • Organizational Simplicity: As Annie sees it, many companies try to do too much too soon, which sabotages their profits.

Key takeaways:

  • Leadership starts at the top. As the founder of the company, you can’t operate from a place of emotional reactivity.

  • You can’t do everything yourself forever. You need to build up a team that can actually do everything themselves, without any micro-managing or hand-holding.

  • Give your employees an opportunity to impress you. If you’re micromanaging them, they’ll never be able to come into their own.

08 Oct 2024Become a Better Interviewer w/ Corey Poirier - DTL #3200:58:10

Join Chris and me in welcoming Corey Poirier to the show this week! Corey is an author, multiple-time TEDx speaker, and seasoned interviewer with over 7500 interviews under his belt. He’s talked to acclaimed authors like Deepak Chopra and Zig Ziglar, motivational speakers like Lisa Nichols and Gary V, and eclectic celebrities like Tommy Chong and Stedman Graham. The goal of his work is to understand the secrets of these influential leaders and share them with the world, through his own books and lectures. In today’s chat, he walks us through the art of crafting good questions, the importance of staying completely present in each conversation, and he even shares some of his tips and tricks on how to book big guests. For folks out there looking to break into the interview game, this conversation is a goldmine. And I strongly encourage our entrepreneur audience to tune in as well. Corey has spent a lot of time thinking about the qualities and habits that encourage success. And he’s more than happy to pass that wisdom along.

Topics discussed:

  • Active listening during an interview: Corey shares some actionable strategies to help you stay in the moment, while still steering the conversation where you want it to go

  • Interview structure: He outlines the conversational flow that will help you get the best out of your subjects and foster an engaging conversation

  • Staying inspired: Every conversation is an opportunity to connect deeply with someone – interviewee and/or listener – and you should act accordingly

Key takeaways:

  • Don’t get too tied to a particular question – be ready to cut your losses

  • Do your research and try to ask questions your subject doesn’t usually answer

  • Listen to what the majority of your audience is saying, not just the few vocal critics

08 Aug 2019Back to the Drawing Board - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #1400:06:54

It’s the first week of August, which means it’s officially Launch Season for me and my team… we’re gearing up to teach our big annual Launch Masterclass. Last year’s Masterclass was groundbreaking - I did 14 hours of live training + downloads and other goodies… and it was 100% free. And this year’s version is going to be even better! In any case, here’s what’s on my mind as we dig into the nitty-gritty planning process (and I think it’ll help you with your next launch, too).

04 Mar 2025The Truth About Morning Routines DTL #4100:37:55

Many folks talk about morning routines like they’re the key to success.

But what if that’s not actually true? Even worse…

What if your morning routine is actually holding you back?

In this episode of Dare to Launch, Chris, Dan, and I take a look at the real impact of morning routines on entrepreneurs – so you can see if yours is powering your success… or just another distraction.

My morning routine has been through a lot of changes over the past 15 years – from meditation to journaling… to yoga and tapping. It’s given me a good insight into what works… and what doesn’t.

And maybe more controversially… when you shouldn’t have a morning routine at all.

We also get into:

  • The simple “test” that tells you if your morning routine is helping you… or holding you back

  • Why I deliberately chose not have a morning routine when I started out (and what I did instead)

  • The morning myth that keeps even top entrepreneurs stuck… no matter how much they work

  • A common productivity mistake that drains your willpower before noon

  • The “start from scratch” morning routine I would follow if I lost everything tomorrow

  • How I get a daily shot of wisdom from books I read years ago (without turning a single page)

  • The one rule that keeps me laser-focused (even on chaotic days)

  • The simple tweak that helps switch my brain into “deep and creative” mode every morning

… and much more.

If you’ve ever questioned whether morning routines really make a difference – or want to design one that helps you unlock your creative spark and inner genius – you need to hear this.

02 Jul 2024How Summits, Tapping, and Doing Good Makes Great Business w/ Nick Ortner - DTL #1701:25:44

Get Jeff's AI Playbook FREE at DaretoLaunchShow.com/AI

Join your hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker in welcoming Nick Ortner to the podcast this week! Nick is the creator of The Tapping Solution; a hugely-popular app, book, and online resource which provides revolutionary meditations to help ease everything from anxiety to chronic pain. Like many of the entrepreneurs we bring on the show, Nick’s journey is anything but linear. He takes us through the various stages of his career, from innovating in the tele-health space in the early aughts, to making an indie documentary, to essentially inventing the modern conception of the marketing summit, to developing an app from scratch. Since discovering the health benefits of Tapping at a Tony Robbins event in 2000, Nick has been dedicated to spreading this holistic practice to the world through every medium within his grasp. The lessons learned along the way have been innumerable, but we dig into some of the big ones: the value of providing substantial free content, the right and wrong way to organize a summit, and how focusing on doing genuinely good work over a long period of time will only bring you wealth in business and in life. Nick’s strategies for building trust and curating excellent summits are just too good not to share. I know you’ll walk away with tons of new ideas and a reinvigorated commitment to your business.

Key topics discussed:

  • Creating a Summit: How Nick developed his approach to organizing summits through trial and error, and how he continues to perfect his methodology.

  • Offering Free Content: In building his business, Nick has found time and time again that giving out substantial free content is the only way to build a loyal following.

  • The Tony Robbins Effect: Many of the folks we work with have been affected by Tony’s work and Nick is no different. Nick tells us about his full circle journey with Tony.

  • The Sandy Hook tragedy: How the horrendous school shooting, which happened minutes away from Nick’s home, led to some of his most impactful work.

Key takeaways:

  • Taking advantage of multiple outlets is key! Nick owes a lot of his success to embracing a multi-faceted approach to promote his life’s work.

  • We have to focus on content first. Especially when planning a summit, it’s essential to make every part of the event unique, educational, and engaging.

  • Product management is essential in building a good app. Nick emphasizes the importance of having a person solely dedicated to testing and shaping your app.

  • The best way to attract experts to your summit is by showing them you genuinely love their content and know what they’re all about.

  • Building a good business foundation is more important than some of the more public-facing stuff. And that includes taking care of your team!

09 Jul 2024Creating Impactful Affiliate Marketing Campaigns w/ Mark Duffield-Thomas - DTL#1801:22:17

Become a PLF affiliate and make 40% commission on any PLF sale from your traffic to the Launch Masterclass Aug 15 - 29.

Sign up here: https://productlaunchformula.com/affiliate/

Join your hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders in welcoming Mark Duffield-Thomas to the show this week! Mark and his wife Denise run a highly-successful coaching and mentoring business focused on helping entrepreneurs scale up their operations and establish themselves as experts in their communities. Mark and Denise also happen to be the most-successful affiliate marketing partner in the history of Product Launch Formula. This powerful duo has won the annual PFL affiliate marketing competition 6 out of 7 years! Today on the show, Mark breaks down his experiences in affiliate marketing, emphasizing the mutually-beneficial nature of these kinds of partnerships. As Mark explains, affiliate programs are a fantastic way to learn more about the launching process, get more exposure to like-minded entrepreneurs whom you admire, and learn valuable lessons which can be funneled directly back into your own business. The right amount of time and resources must be allocated to run these campaigns properly, however, and Mark speaks on how he and his wife have developed their winning approach over the years. If you’re considering dipping your toes into the world of affiliate marketing, we can’t think of a better primer than this chat with Mark! It’s a pretty strong dose of inspiration and camaraderie for the more seasoned partners out there too!

Key topics discussed:

  • Personalization: How reaching out to your audience in custom-tailored communications is becoming the real difference-maker in affiliate marketing.

  • Choosing Carefully: Mark recommends only partnering with businesses which he actually supports and fit his specific criteria for success.

  • The Process: Like any successful operation, Mark and his wife have a detailed multi-phase process. Mark breaks down what goes into each stage.

  • Making Adjustments: Knowing which levers you can strategically pull throughout the process is key to keeping your program going strong.

Key takeaways:

  • Diversity of Approach: Successful affiliate campaigns need to use the full suite of marketing tools: blogs, emails, podcasts, live calls, social media, and more.

  • Communicate With Your Audience: It’s crucial to have a pulse on the struggles your audience is facing in order to provide relevant resources.

  • Seek Mentorship: Think of these programs as a way to build relationships with other entrepreneurs whom you admire.

  • Maximizing Leads: Perhaps the most important part of the process is ensuring the highest volume of quality leads in the initial stages of the process.

26 Nov 2024Change Your Questions, Change Your Future w/ Elliott Connie - DTL #3500:51:11

Chris and I welcome the amazing Elliott Connie back to the podcast this week!

Elliott is a world-renowned author, speaker, podcaster, and behavioral therapist with 20 years of clinical experience. His latest book, “Change Your Questions, Change Your Future,” focuses on how we can transform our lives simply by asking the right questions.

Elliott has found a direct link between curiosity and success. And it’s not just that successful people are more curious – they know the right questions to ask in order to take action and move forward. Lucky for us, this ability isn’t some kind of innate superpower – or reserved for the rich and famous – it’s a trainable muscle anyone can learn how to flex.

Every time I talk to Elliott, I take five pages of notes, and this conversation is no exception. There’s something special and actionable here for entrepreneurs of all stages and walks of life.

You’ll discover:

  • Why staying positive in tough times isn’t just a “nice to have” – it’s a proven strategy for unlocking clarity and creativity

  • How your words and body language can empower those around you to reach their potential

  • The surprising role willpower plays in shaping your circumstances (if you thought success was determined by your talent or external circumstances, you’ll love this)

  • What the most successful people do in moments of crisis – and how you can model their behavior

… and much more.

10 Sep 2024This 7-figure entrepreneur takes no meetings or phone calls w/ Olivier Roland - DTL #2901:12:24

Join Chris and I in welcoming Olivier Roland to the show this week. A blogger, author, and longtime member of our Platinum Plus Mastermind, Olivier is something of an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur. After becoming obsessed with business books in his early years, he started a blog devoted to sharing all of the knowledge he was taking in. And later, he started a coaching business specifically for entrepreneurs, helping them optimize workflows and effectively delegate tasks. One of his greatest accomplishments in all of this work, however, has been the creation of a business that serves him – not the other way around. In this illuminating chat, Olivier recounts his journey from a high school dropout to a globetrotting business owner. He focuses on the tactics that have helped him the most, like creating a network of mentors and collaborators, testing small before going big, and following personal passion. Olivier is an encyclopedia of entrepreneurship, and we were thrilled to mine as many gems out of him as we could!

Key Topics:

  • Asking for Help: Olivier explains how swallowing his pride and asking for help has always been the best course of action in difficult times.

  • Self-Education: Devouring entrepreneurship books didn’t just help educate and motivate Olivier… his fascination with them inspired his most successful venture yet.

  • Delegating Tasks: Olivier offers up some tips and tricks to help busy entrepreneurs manage their time and effectively offload responsibility to their staff.

Key Takeaways:

  • Testing your idea on a small scale can be a smart way to ensure you have a viable product and a legitimate market niche to serve.

  • No matter what you’re looking to learn, there’s almost guaranteed to be a book or a course out there to help you learn it.

  • Your goal as an entrepreneur should be to delegate and manage your time so effectively that you’re able to work on your business instead of for it.

03 Aug 2017From Zero To $100K - How I Started - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #300:28:17

25 Mar 2025Why Most Masterminds Fail (And How To Find A Great One) DTL #4300:41:45

I recently hosted my 43rd in-person mastermind meeting. But before I headed out – and while I was amped up – I wanted to dig into something big…

Why most masterminds fail.

People join masterminds expecting game-changing insights, powerful connections, and real business growth… but the reality is that most groups fizzle out in a year or two.

Why?

A big reason is that they get a critical thing wrong – and it ruins everything. And I should know – I came *this* close to making this mistake myself when I started mine!

I’ve talked about my Plat Plus mastermind before. It’s a space where some of the world’s top entrepreneurs share their biggest wins, struggles, and strategies. But I haven’t really talked about what happens behind the scenes…

Until now…

In this week’s episode of Dare to Launch, Chris, Dan, and I open my mastermind door a little wider… sharing some of the secrets that have made it so successful for the past 15 years (with a 92%+ renewal rate). We get into:

  • The mastermind mistake that can ruin everything – and why most people don’t try to fix it until it’s too late

  • The question I ask before letting anyone into my mastermind (ask this if you want more long-standing, high-performing members)

  • The “look through the corners” mindset. Feeling stuck? This simple shift will get you moving through any problem or obstacle

  • The secret to running a high-level mastermind… even if you’ve never done it before.

  • What most people get wrong about business challenges – and why “avoiding obstacles” could be holding you back.

  • Plus – a behind-the-scenes look at how I run my mastermind – hard-earned experience from hosting 40+ in-person meetings since 2010.

… and more.

23 Jul 2024The 6-Figure Knitter w/ Amy Small - DTL #2001:13:52

Get access to the Dare to Launch Bonus Vault and the Transformational Value Manifesto free: https://www.daretolaunchshow.com/taco

Join yours hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders in welcoming Amy Small to the show this week! Amy is the genius behind Knit Collage, an inclusive community for wildly creative knitters and crocheters. After years of exhausting design jobs and a few wrong entrepreneurial turns, Amy crystallized her golden idea: the-knit along. She realized she had the resources and the design expertise to provide the yarn, the designs, the online courses, and the community support directly to consumers. And when she made each course into an 8-week sprint, she was amazed at how her customers helped each other out, and how learning how to knit became a catalyst for transformative self-actualization for her customers. Through this model, Amy created a lucrative business based on her ability to craft unique yarn and creative designs, and release them as limited-edition drops alongside time-sensitive online courses. There are so many incredible business lessons to absorb in this episode around building a following, weaving scarcity and transformation into your business model, and staying true to yourself. Amy did it her way and hit the jackpot at the same time – she’s a perfect case study of the modern entrepreneur.

Key topics discussed:

  • Follow Your Passion: The importance of your own passion and innate creativity in starting a business

  • Selling Transformation: The necessity of baking a transformative experience into your business model (Amy sells the ability to access your inner child)

  • Find Scarcity: How Amy also weaves the element of scarcity into her operation by dropping limited-run physical products

  • Inclusivity: Amy’s strategic efforts to foster an inclusive community around knitting

Key takeaways:

  • Be Yourself: Amy had to learn the hard way not to tailor her creativity to market demands

  • Keep it Simple: Don’t overwhelm your following with constant changes to your offer. It’s confusing for your customers and overwhelming for you and your team!

  • Foster Community: Building up an enthusiastic community will help your product expand in all kinds of exciting ways

27 Aug 2024Get Over Imposter Syndrome & Anxiety With Jeff Noble - DTL #2701:07:03

Join your hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders in welcoming Jeff Noble to the podcast this week! Jeff is the founder of Noble Initiatives, which provides education and support to families affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Through his online training, in-person sessions, and consultations, Jeff spreads the word about the underdiscussed spectrum of FASD and helps families provide better care for their loved ones. Jeff knows his stuff, but as he mentions in today’s chat, he doesn’t have a PhD or advanced degree in his field. He’s become an expert by supporting struggling families for years and years, finding the behavioral strategies that work and the messaging that connects with people. Once he found his calling, Jeff dove into it headfirst and never looked back. Today’s chat is about pushing through anxiety and imposter syndrome, taking that first leap, and figuring things out along the way. Jeff is a real character – he’s overflowing with heart and wit. And his tips aren’t just for beginners – he knows a thing or two about pushing through adversity too.

Join the Launch Masterclass at https://getyoulaunched.com

Key topics discussed:

  • Becoming an Expert: Jeff cultivated his expertise not through education but through a variety of professional and personal experiences. He advises others to do the same.

  • Anxiety and Imposter Syndrome: Feeling like you’re not qualified is unfortunately just part of the deal. Jeff offers up some key advice on how to push through.

  • Launch First, Fix Later: Jeff encourages listeners to just do that first launch. His first one wasn’t huge, but that tiny bit of success propelled him towards his dream.

Key takeaways:

  • Being around other entrepreneurs while they did six-figure launches blew Jeff’s mind. He didn’t realize those numbers were possible. And their mindset was contagious.

  • People don’t care about you until you have the answers they want. If you have truly valuable information to share, the people will come.

  • The entrepreneur lifestyle is about having the freedom to live however you want to live. When Jeff lost some family members, he was able to give himself time to grieve.

01 Apr 2025AI Might Destroy The Wisdom Industry. Why Aren’t These Entrepreneurs Worried? DTL #4400:40:19

You might have heard the rumors…

“Course creators and coaches are done. I mean… why pay an expert when you can just prompt an AI to become one?”

I’ve heard them too… but what I saw last week inside my mastermind group told a very different story.

Yes, it’s true – AI just changed the game (again). And the “mediocre” bar just got raised (again)...

But that isn’t the problem...

The real question entrepreneurs need to be asking is – what do we do now?

Since this was such a big topic in our mastermind meeting… and is likely to impact most – if not all – businesses, Chris, Dan, and I decided to explore it in this week’s episode of Dare to Launch.

You’ll get a peek at what some of the smartest people I know are saying about AI right now… and the moves they’re making to stay ahead of the curve, including:

  • The one AI tool that can replace 10+ platforms – and how one mastermind member used it to create a complete client portal, CRM, course delivery system, and more… without writing a line of code

  • Why we believe that AI is STILL one of the biggest opportunities we’ve ever seen (It might seem like we’ve been talking about AI forever… but this is just the beginning.)

  • The AI threat some course creators are overlooking – and how to survive it

  • How to infuse your offers with the one thing AI can’t do (in a world where every business is AI-powered, this could be your key to standing out)

  • How even “I’m not good with tech” folks can get great results from AI – for themselves and their clients

  • What a 90mph baseball pitch can teach you about dealing with uncertainty – and why 8-figure business owners are using this mindset to stay ahead of the AI curve

… and much more.

22 Oct 2024The $1 Million Documentary Launch with Michael Maidens - DTL Clip #300:08:54

What seems like a crazy idea could revolutionize your industry and become the norm. For instance, when Michael Maidens’ team was tasked with marketing an exciting new documentary, he floated a revolutionary idea to the room: What if we premiered it online for 10 days… for free? That was the germ of the hugely successful marketing campaign behind “Hungry for Change.” And all these years later, dozens of documentaries have followed suit. In this excerpt from our conversation with Michael, he walks us through that decision – how he thought of it, why it was successful, and what he learned from the process.

For more insight into Michael’s process, and his emphasis on harnessing your authenticity in marketing, check out the full episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRgJtTJYfpw

Key takeaways:

  • Focusing on the process is key – outline your desired outcomes and then work backwards to map out the steps you’ll need to get you there.

  • Your marketing needs to be valuable even for non-paying customers – you want to create content that people genuinely love and want to share.

  • Don’t be afraid of risky marketing ideas. If you feel like a tactic will achieve your goal while staying in sync with the identity of your product, go for it!

18 Mar 2025How Wealthy People Manage Money (It’s Easier Than You Think)00:16:18

What if you had the perfect employee – someone who worked tirelessly for you 24/7 and never took any sick days or vacations?

According to my good friend Mel Abraham, you already do… you just might not realize it.

That “employee” is your money. But here’s the problem – most entrepreneurs don’t give this employee a job – they let it sit in a bank account, doing nothing.

In this clip from Dare to Launch, Mel outlines a simple system that could change the way you think about money. He reveals:

  • Why every dollar you earn needs a “job” (and the best time to assign it)

17 Oct 2023Building an Audience Through Email, Content, and Memes w/ Rachel Miller - DTL # 201:19:07

Co-hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker welcome team member and resident video pro Dan Walker, and social media organic growth expert Rachel Miller to discuss how to build an audience through email and content.

They talk about what approach to content you should have, Rachel’s Facebook list-building strategies (including tips for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube), and how to use memes in business.

Also in this week’s show:

  • How adopting the “waitress mindset” helps you build an email list full of long-term subscribers
  • Why you should stop treating potential clients as “prospects” (Rachel’s shift is so powerful, Jeff “borrowed” it for the second edition of his book!)
  • The hidden feature that automatically grows your Facebook group for you (one click, and it attracts new members to your group, 24/7)
  • 3? 7? 24? How many times do people really need to see your content before they engage with it? Rachel’s answer might surprise you
  • A simple strategy you can use to turn new followers into ardent fans when you’re just starting out
  • How to transform a meme from a simple gag into a powerful connection (and one of your best marketing weapons)
  • WARNING – asking this simple question on social media could turn your family and friends into your #1 referral network
  • How to get your customers to “fill in the blanks” and write your social media content for you
  • Worried about bothering or bugging people by posting the same content more than once? Don’t. Here’s why…

.. and much more.

19 Nov 2024What Entrepreneurs Can Learn From Championship Tennis w/ Will Hamilton - DTL Clip #500:10:52

In this excerpt from our chat with Will Hamilton, the founder of popular tennis coaching website Fuzzy Yellow Balls, he shares some of the lessons learned from working with tennis pros. He’s been able to shoot exclusive training videos with tennis legends like The Bryan Brothers and Martina Navratilova over the years, and he’s been absolutely amazed by the professionalism and skill with which they operate. These interactions have influenced his work ethic and mindset as an entrepreneur, and he walks us through the biggest lessons he’s been able to apply in his business.

For more insight into the intersection of professional tennis and entrepreneurship, as well as some easy ways to incorporate humor into your marketing, check out the full conversation here: https://youtu.be/O9WO2Hy58I0?si=H2Jcrk7cPiIyuUzr

Key takeaways:

  • Professional tennis players live an incredibly regimented lifestyle and are ready to spring into action at any moment. It’s a level of discipline we should all envy.

  • As entrepreneurs we should aspire to this level of discipline, but understand that the playing field is a lot bigger in our world and give ourselves the grace to still live our lives.

  • When working with talented pros from any field, we should always aspire to be just as prepared for the job as they are.

15 Oct 2024Advice For Creators Dealing With The Potential Tik Tok Ban - DTL Clip #200:12:20

In this excerpt from our episode about the potential U.S. TikTok ban, Chris and I dive into what I think is one of the most common pitfalls of online entrepreneurship. Many content creators and online coaches out there rely solely on platforms like TikTok and Instagram to support their businesses. And with a potential TikTok ban looming, we have to remember that these platforms are ultimately out of our control. Even if TikTok doesn’t end up going away, you never know what kind of algorithm changes might affect your reach. In this clip, I urge online entrepreneurs to find a way to transfer their audiences over to an independent platform - like an email list – and I walk some of the younger folks through a bit of a history lesson of how the internet economy has changed over the last 25 years.

For more on how creators can build up their businesses without depending entirely on social media, check out the full episode here: https://youtu.be/vTd6g6PsR7Y?si=9mXmanHUvVxU2iQH

Key takeaways:

  • Social media platforms can disappear completely – you need to find a way to transfer your audience to a platform you can actually control

  • Email lists are one of the most powerful tools in marketing…don’t listen to the naysayers

  • Social media is an incredibly valuable tool to direct traffic to your platform, but it can’t be your only source of business

14 Nov 2023Maximizing Sales Conversions on Webinars (by Controlling the Experience) - DTL #601:07:08

Dylan Frost, the creator of The Wholesale Formula, joins Jeff and Chris to delve into the ever-evolving landscape of the digital products industry.

Expect valuable insights on creating pattern interrupts to captivate your audience on social media as well as lots of “What’s working now” tactics you can use to stand out from the competition. Dylan and Jeff also discuss a proven formula for structuring live webinars, the crucial role of controlling the sequence of the customer experience, and the enduring effectiveness of psychological triggers in sales.

Also in this week’s show:

  • The simple tactic Dylan uses to maximize show-up rates for his live events (Jeff used this in a recent promotion – it really works!)
  • The “old school” tactic that's out-performing video on landing and sales pages right now
  • Dylan’s unconventional way of using headlines in his Facebook ads that helps his offers stand out from his competition
  • The viral “pattern interrupt” that changed the face of online marketing (and two powerful lessons you can learn from it)
  • NEWSFLASH – webinars still work! (Dylan gives you an outline of how he turns cold traffic into thousand-dollar customers in as little as an hour!)
  • Why Dylan removes buy buttons and links from his web pages and emails… and why this increases sales
  • Why you should ALWAYS disable the play and skip video controls on your training replays (if you’ve ever been frustrated you can’t fast forward to the end of a webinar… this is why)
  • PLUS – listen in as Dylan and Jeff cook up some crazy ideas for promoting a $10,000 taco

… and much more!

24 Sep 2024Jeff Q&A #2 - What type of launch should you do? Launching a retreat? Do I need to be an expert? - DTL #3100:57:50

On this week’s special episode of Dare to Launch, we’re sharing a live Q&A session from this year’s Launch Masterclass. The Launch Masterclass is my biggest launch of the year…we don’t hold anything back. In fact, it’s my best FREE launch training. (My best launch training is my Product Launch Formula Coaching Program.). The Launch Masterclass is a mixture of recorded video lessons, live Q&A sessions, and special bonus content. These Q&A sessions are one of the most crucial components of the Masterclass. I field as many entrepreneur questions as possible live on the air. In this particular session, the questions ran the gamut – Including finding your voice as an online creator, building a powerful offer, cultivating expertise, and how to market online in 2024…I covered it all. If you’re starting out as an entrepreneur, be ready to take down a few notes. And if you’ve already been around the block a few times, this session is a great way to double-check that you’re set on the right course.

25 Feb 2025Tai Lopez’s Secret to Grabbing Attention (That Still Works!)00:06:31

In 2016, Tai Lopez made a video that didn’t just go viral – it changed the gme.

It took a fresh approach, and it caught the entire marketing world off guard.

In this clip from Dare to Launch, Dylan Frost (who’s studied virality like almost no one I know) breaks down the big lessons we can take away from it… even in 2025.

It’s a mini-masterclass on seizing your audience’s attention and staying one step ahead of the competition (and if you remember the ad, don’t worry – it’s nothing to do with flashy cars or bookshelves!).

18 Feb 2025Create Your Own Economy – Taking Control of Your Narrative (and Your Success) #4000:24:06

Sometimes, it feels like the news, social media, and outside events are working overtime, trying to pull us into a storm of negativity. But here’s one of the most important things I’ve learned as an entrepreneur – I don’t have to participate.

We don’t have to react to the storm. We have the entrepreneurial advantage – we can create our own reality.

That’s why in this week’s episode of Dare to Launch, Chris, Dan, and I explore mindset shifts and strategies you can use to control your narrative, turn challenges into opportunities, and thrive… regardless of what’s going on in the world.

Here’s what we cover:

  • The ultimate superpower entrepreneurs have that traditional jobs don’t

  • Why big-picture crises don’t actually affect your business as much as you think (and often present big opportunities)

  • The simple trick I use to stop social media from draining my energy

  • What decades of meditation have taught me about success as an entrepreneur

  • The five-word mantra I’ve used to thrive through every economic storm – from the dot-com crash to the pandemic

… and much more!

You don’t have to be at the mercy of outside forces. This episode will show you how to take back control, turn chaos into clarity, and create your own momentum.

02 Jan 2020An Amazing Decade (and what’s ahead) - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #3700:08:52

We’re a few days from a new decade… and I took a moment to look back at my old journal from the last time we flipped to a new decade - back in 2010.

I was wondering - what was I thinking 10 years ago? Where was my head at? What did I start doing differently to make this past year and decade (after 25 years in business) my biggest and best ever?

When I blew the dust off that journal and cracked it open… I found a bit of buried treasure there - this video is about that treasure, and how I’m thinking about the new year and the new decade….

11 Jun 2024Stand-Up Comedy and Copywriting w/ Will Hamilton - DTL #1401:09:57

In today’s episode of Dare to Launch, Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders welcome the hilarious Will Hamilton to the show! Will is the founder of Fuzzy Yellow Balls, a hugely successful platform for online tennis classes taught by legends like The Bryan Brothers and Martina Navratilova. He’s also a bonafide stand-up comedian in Washington D.C., which is why today’s discussion centers around the connection between comedy writing and copywriting. In his experience, Will has found that humor can be a fantastic tool in copywriting when used correctly. He’s also found that joke structures mirror copywriting in a fascinating way, especially in terms of building and releasing tension. We also dive into the ways in which high-performance tennis mirrors high performance in the business world. And finally, Will shares a few golden nuggets he’s learned from churning out content over the years which we know you folks will really enjoy. As a skilled tennis player and entrepreneur, Will has tons of valuable insight into the mindset and discipline you need to put yourself out there and keep at it no matter what.

Get the Free Surprise bonus by texting BONUS3 to 1(888)-530-0282

Key topics discussed:

  • Lessons from Tennis Pros: Working with tennis legends over the years has taught Will countless lessons about focus, discipline, and preparation.

  • Setting Goals: As Will started to find success as an entrepreneur, he found himself adjusting his goals and expectations to build the life he wanted to live.

  • Comedy and Copywriting: The craft of writing jokes is actually incredibly similar to the craft of writing copy. Will breaks down the similarities and differences.

  • The Content Grind: Will emphasizes that the only way to get better at making content is to keep at it, ignore the haters, and use the helpful comments to get better.

Key takeaways:

  • Certainty is a Necessity: Starting out as an entrepreneur is tricky, but you have to believe in yourself extra hard to overcome those initial struggles.

  • Play the game you want to win. Running a billion-dollar business involves massive sacrifice, so make sure you set the bar at the right level for you and your goals.

  • Humor is Valuable: If you’re able to be appropriately funny in a presentation or in your marketing you’ll stand out from the crowd.

  • Nobody Cares About You: Be willing to not be the best in the world right away. If your content flops, nobody saw it. Keep trying, tweaking, and reframing your ideas.

28 Jan 2025The Most Important Lesson This 7-Figure Entrepreneur Ever Learned00:07:16

Have you ever felt like the business you built for freedom… is more like a jail?

That’s exactly what happened to Olivier Roland. He built a successful company… but it began to take over his life.

We’re talking 60-70 hour weeks. Barely any vacations. And no way out. Until two lessons gave him the slap in the face he needed.

These lessons didn’t just reshape how he saw his business – they gave him a blueprint for transforming it into his ticket to freedom.

In this clip from Dare to Launch, we discuss:

  • The books that helped Olivier escape from his “self-made jail”

  • Why so many entrepreneurs feel trapped by their own business… and the easy way out

  • Why working harder might not get you to the next stage of your journey (but a simple mindset shift will)

  • The one secret you should take from this – or any other “How to” – podcast

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve created a job… instead of a business that allows you to live life on your terms, you’ll get a lot out of this.

22 Apr 2025The Strategy That Scaled My Launch 6x (Twice!!)00:36:19

How do you go from $110K… to $600K… to $3.7MM – all in a pretty short window of time?

Well, I can tell you exactly how I did it. Including the really wild part…

You see, right in the middle of that crazy run… I lost my business.

Not just part of my business – my entire business vanished overnight, meaning I had to start over from zero – with no list, no audience, and no product.

And yet… fast forward seven months later and I was wrapping up a $600K launch.

I did it by pulling on one of the biggest levers in business. And in this week’s episode of Dare to Launch, Chris, Dan and I break down what made that kind of growth possible (and how you can tap into the same strategy).

If you’re ready to grow – and grow fast – without burning out your email list… you’ll love this episode.

15 Apr 2025The FIVE Reasons Customers Say “No!” DTL Clip00:10:21

Most people think objections are about the offer, but they’re not. Not really…

They’re about fear. Or self-doubt. Sometimes, even shame.

When a customer says “I can’t afford it” or “I don’t have time”, there’s usually something deeper lurking under the surface…

In this clip of Dare to Launch, Bari Baumgardner helps us unpack the 5 universal buying objections… and how to handle them with empathy, not pressure.

Spoiler alert – this episode contains ZERO high pressure closes.

But you will discover powerful ways you can help your customers get unstuck, say “yes” to themselves, and find their best path forward, including:

  • The 5 universal objections that come up in every niche, every market, and every language

  • The surprising emotional layer hiding beneath the words “I can’t afford it”

  • A mental shift that turns objections into opportunities to serve (once you realize this you’ll never fear hearing the word “No”)

  • Why helping someone say no can actually lead to a yes

  • How your triggers and objections can help your customers (and your bottom line!)

  • The three word response that helps customers feel seen and heard – even when they say “No”

… and more.

25 Jun 2024Stages of Entrepreneurship w/ Coaches Barry, Jolene and Julie - DTL #1601:16:07

Join your host Chris Saunders for an extra special episode of Dare to Launch featuring three of our Product Launch Formula Coaches: Jolene, Barry, and Julie! On DTL we like to think of entrepreneurship in three stages, and each of these three coaches focuses on a different one: creating your offer and embarking on your first 50K launch, turning that 50K launch into a six-figure launch, and scaling your business up to the seven-figure level. Each stage of this continuum presents its own unique challenges and considerations, and our coaches have collected some keys to success, as well as some common pitfalls to avoid, over the years. As we talked through these trends, we kept coming back to one crucial element over and over: the necessity of a strong community at every stage of this sequence. Whether you’re trying to articulate your offer for the first time or you’re 3 days into a seven-figure launch and floundering, the ability to access a supportive, experienced community has consistently proven to be a key necessity for successful entrepreneurs. We go deep into cultivating the mindset necessary to put yourself out there, knowing when it’s time to scale up and start building out your team, and the fundamental question you need to ask yourself before you decide to take your business to the moon.

TALK TO A LAUNCH CLUB EXPERT

Key topics discussed:

  • Articulating Your Offer: Spelling out what it is you want to sell can be tricky. The key is knowing the right questions to ask and where to look for more information.

  • The Value Ladder: Starting out, entrepreneurs want everything and they want it fast. It’s important to understand the steps to success and how to take them one at a time.

  • Task Delegation: As we scale up our businesses, we must also start to offload responsibility in order to free up our time. Barry offers up a handy strategy for doing just that.

  • Community is Essential: Jolene emphasizes the myriad benefits of having a community of like-minded individuals to turn to in tough times.

  • Serving Others: Julie emphasizes the impact that high-level entrepreneurs can have on the world, and understanding the implications of shooting for the moon.

Key takeaways:

  • Community is a cheat code. Having a support system means that you can move through the stages of success at a much quicker clip.

  • We have to do the market research to make sure that people are actively asking for what we have to offer. Then we can focus on speaking the right language.

  • We can’t fear our competition. Instead, we need to observe what they’re doing and see how we can do it better and with an injection of our own unique qualities.

  • Fully utilize your mentor or coach. You need to work with someone who’s been there before to navigate the noise when your business starts to become bigger than you.

  • Understand what you really want! If you truly want a million dollar business, then you can put the pieces in place to make that happen. But if you don’t actually want to go that big, don’t create a business you don’t actually want to run.

11 Mar 2025Your Morning Routines Isn’t The Problem (But This Might Be!) - DTL #4200:28:23

You can have all the ingredients of a perfect morning routine… and still feel like you’re getting nowhere.

Here’s why…

When morning routines fail, it isn’t usually because you journaled before you did your ice plunge… or haven’t found the right habit… or don’t have enough willpower or discipline...

It’s probably because you’ve fallen into one of the hidden “traps” that keep you stuck.

So in this week’s episode of Date to Launch, Chris, Dan and I are revealing these traps… and how to avoid them. You’ll discover:

  • Why you should stop “shoulding” on yourself (and what you should do instead)

  • It’s not the habits, but the moments between them that are sabotaging your success

  • The fastest way to get back on track when you fall out of your routine (I’ll show you what I do)

  • Why less is often more – how subtraction can help unlock new levels of creativity and productivity

  • Tips to make your morning routine inevitable (so you don’t need to rely on willpower or motivation)

… and much more.

If you’ve ever wondered why you seem to be doing everything right but you’re still struggling, you might be caught in one of these traps.

It’s time to break free…

20 Aug 2024"I came to Canada with $5 in my pocket" w/ Thembi Bheka - DTL #2500:50:16

Join your hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker in welcoming Thembi Bheka to the podcast this week! Thembi is a longtime Launch Club member, a recipient of our Launch Club Spokesman award, and the founder of Digital Marketing Demand. Her course educates and empowers disadvantaged African women by training them for virtual assistant positions at tech companies worldwide. Fleeing a difficult situation in Zimbabwe, she moved to Canada with $5 in her pocket, where she worked as a nurse for many years. After some successful real estate investments, she was able to create her own real estate business. In the end, she realized her true calling was to help women escape abuse and poverty back in her home country. In today’s episode, Thembi walks us through the highs and lows of running an impact-driven business, the importance of pricing out business services based on real value, and how her community and purpose has pushed her over the years. Whether your business is dedicated to a cause or not, Thembi’s story is full of valuable insight into finding a niche, staying motivated through adversity, and understanding the worth of your unique talents.

Join the Launch Masterclass by going to https://GetYouLaunched.com

Key topics discussed:

  • Finding Your Purpose: Thembi’s road to entrepreneurship wasn’t an easy one. But her difficult upbringing motivated her to seek a better life and find her purpose.

  • Impact-Driven Business: Working for a humanistic cause is full of risks and rewards. Thembi discusses some of the realities of supporting disadvantaged women today.

  • Pricing Your Services: Many entrepreneurs creating services for impoverished communities struggle to price their services. Thembi’s approach is simple.

Key takeaways:

  • “What’s the worst that could happen?” is Thembi’s life motto. She urges us all to ask ourselves this question when we start to doubt ourselves.

  • Whatever you feel most passionate about changing in the world is what you should pursue. Otherwise, you may not have the personal investment to stay the course.

  • You need to surround yourself with entrepreneurs who are just as motivated and dedicated as you are. Every successful business owner has a community.

  • How creating a little “friendly competition” amongst your customers can deliver you a ton of social proof

17 Dec 2024How To Go From Idea To Launching - DTL Clip #700:06:44

There’s one mindset shift that could make or break your launch. And it’s often the difference between just having an idea… and actually executing a launch that brings in life-changing sales.

In this week’s episode of Dare to Launch, three of my Launch Coaches – Jolene, Barry, and Julie – break down this shift, so you can see how to turn your idea into a real, paying business. And they should know…

Between them, they’ve debriefed hundreds of launches. They’ve seen “under the hood” of many 6, 7, and 8-figure businesses. They’ve seen all there is to see… and they know what works.

They’ll show you how to shift from idea to execution, including:

  • Two quick questions to test your offer – if you can answer “YES” to both, then you KNOW you have an offer people are willing to pay for

  • The mistake most new business owners make when trying to figure out what their audience wants (it’s not what you think – literally!)

  • How to speak your customer’s language so they recognize you as the best – and ONLY – solution

  • Why a saturated market isn’t a red flag… and why it can actually be a sign you’re on the right track

  • The simple language tweak that helps you connect with your audience immediately and makes them feel like you truly “get” them.

… and more!

If you’re ready to discover what your audience really wants, so you can go and create it… and launch, check out this week’s episode…

24 Oct 2023The Unstoppable Mindset w/ Elliott Connie - DTL #301:20:44

What are some of the traits the most successful people across different industries share? And what can you do in your journey toward success?

Co-hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders are joined by therapist, author, and speaker Elliott Connie to discuss all things mindset.

They discuss the importance of resilience and love, why a growth mindset shouldn’t be focused on following other people’s steps, and the biggest decision you can ever make.

Also in this week's show:

  • What one of the world’s best comedians can teach you about becoming unbreakable (it’s easier than you think – one decision is all it takes)
  • How Elliott “reinvented” himself from being an unsatisfied therapist working one-on-one with clients… to helping thousands of people all over the world (he lays out the exact steps he took)
  • The simple mental reframe that transforms pressure from something that paralyzes you… into a catalyst that inspires you to take action
  • Why a Hollywood celebrity still takes acting classes alongside unknown actors every week, despite earning millions of dollars… and why you should follow suit if you want to be successful
  • Is there an “ideal” mindset for launching? Elliott suggests one that practically guarantees you’ll be successful
  • Should you compare yourself to your competition… or who you were yesterday? How about neither? I think you’ll be inspired when you discover what Elliott chases instead
  • Why Jeff wrote 252 emails every year for 8 years… and what it reveals about building resilience
  • Could this four-letter word be the most successful business strategy? (Hint: it’s not “cash”, “sale”, or “work”)
  • How Michael Jordan can help you turn your weaknesses into your biggest strengths
  • What you should copy from successful entrepreneurs… and what you should NEVER copy

30 Jul 2024Story: Jeff's First Launch. From stay at home dad to 6-figure launch marketer - DTL #2100:30:39

Access the Dare to Launch bonus vault by going to https://www.daretolaunchshow.com/taco

It’s hard to beat the rags-to-riches entrepreneur origin story. By nature they’re uniquely entertaining, often harrowing, and always motivational. We decided it was time for Jeff to enter his own success journey into the Dare to Launch canon. In the mid-90’s, Jeff had quit his job to be a stay-at-home dad. He and his wife were just scraping by, living paycheck-to-paycheck. With a lot of free time on his hands, Jeff had begun to study the stock market and get into some small-scale trading. He figured he’d start an investing newsletter to share his findings. Soon enough he had a loyal following of about 800 people who loved what he was doing. After some discussions with his mentor, he outlined a paid model and a way to launch it in a coordinated sequence… before he even knew what a sequence was. The rest was history. Jeff took that first big leap and never looked back. And if you haven’t already followed his lead, we know this story will inspire you to take action!

Key topics discussed:

  • Making the Leap: How’s Jeff’s utter desperation to make money from home gave him the courage to start providing a valuable resource to his followers

  • Now vs. Then: Jeff and Chris discuss the differences between 90’s internet marketing and now, and how many online coaches/creators are still taking the wrong approach.

  • The Art of the Sequence: Jeff didn’t realize it at the time, but his first launch included the kind of email sequence that would be essential to Product Launch Formula

Key takeaways:

  • Mentorship is Key: Jeff had an incredible mentor in those early days, and Jeff wouldn’t have had the confidence to launch without someone in his corner.

  • Find Community: At every pivotal moment in Jeff’s career, he needed a community of like-minded folks to bounce his ideas off of.

  • It’s Always a Stretch: Jeff didn’t believe that people would pay him for his insight. It’s always a gamble, but taking that chance is the only way to step into greatness.

  • It’s a Value Exchange: It may seem bold to ask strangers for money, but you’re providing them value, and that’s worth something. It’s worth a lot, actually!

13 Feb 2020They Didn’t Charge Me a Dime - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #4300:05:30

I broke my ski boot recently… and had two completely different experiences at local ski shops when I tried to have it fixed. One store wanted to sell me a brand new (read: expensive) pair, and the other did something that absolutely blew me away. They’ve got a customer for life now… here’s what happened (and why it’s important for your business).

18 Jun 2024Building Your Money Machine w/ Mel Abraham - DTL #1501:15:55

Get access to this week's Dare To Launch Bonus by Texting: Bonus4 to 1-888-530-0282

Join your hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker in welcoming Mel Abraham to the show this week! Mel is a renowned entrepreneur, speaker, author, and expert in the field of financial freedom. A recurring theme this season has been the reality that entrepreneurship, and really success in general, is hardly ever a straight line. And Mel’s story is yet another fascinating testament to that truth. In recounting his difficult journey from a working-class childhood to multi-millionaire entrepreneur, it seems like almost every major success was prelude to a period of difficulty. And instead of getting beaten down by these hard moments, he chose to pick himself up, learn from his mistakes, and push forward. Realizing he’d worked so hard he missed out on years of his son’s childhood was the first blow. Losing millions to a Ponzi scheme was the second. Discovering he had bladder cancer in 2019 was the third. But he was able to navigate all of the above and more because of his lifelong commitment to building what he calls the Money Machine. In today’s chat, Mel acts as financial guru and walks Jeff and Chris through how he built the money machine that has saved his life multiple times over. Even if you’re already a pro at money management, Mel’s story is a fascinating case study in self-awareness, proactive thinking, and the triumph of the human spirit. We highly recommend picking up a copy of Mel’s new book “Building Your Money Machine.”

Key topics discussed:

  • Money and Freedom: Mel discusses the popular misconception that money will bring you freedom and happiness in life, and how that’s not always the case.

  • The Value of Hardship: As has become a theme this season, Mel shares some important hardships and how they helped him become a better person.

  • Financial Harmony: Another popular misconception is the idea of work-life balance. Mel reframes this concept as “financial harmony,” why it’s different, and how it works.

  • Talking About Money: Many people are afraid to even discuss money and as Mel sees it, breaking down that barrier is the first step to financial liberation.

  • Resisting Temptation: When revenue starts to come in, people tend to want to dramatically level up their lifestyles. Mel lays out the smart way to level up.

Key takeaways:

  • Money is not the key to freedom. You can be rich and have no absolutely no control of your time or lifestyle.

  • Your relationship with money is literally a relationship. If you become passive in that dynamic, the relationship will wither.

  • You have to enjoy the journey to financial freedom or you won’t enjoy the end result. Rewarding yourself responsibly must be part of the process.

  • We need to assign a job description to every dollar we make before we earn it. That means understanding exactly where your money is going to go at all times.

  • We need to say “I will” instead of “I want.” Those declarations help you understand how all of your actions pull you closer towards achieving your goals.

03 Sep 2024Story: Jeff Lost His Business in the Blink of An Eye - DTL #2800:33:48

I lost my first business in the blink of an eye. And in this episode, I’m sharing that story.

As some folks may know, I used to publish a premium newsletter for stock market investors in the late ’90s and early 2000s. I gradually built up a loyal following of over 800 people, pulling in hundreds of thousands in annual subscriptions. But the business relationship I had with my partner at the time just wasn’t a great fit, and poor communication slowly eroded our dynamic. One Monday, I got a phone call that shook me to my core: My partner was starting his own business and taking our subscribers with him. Just like that, everything I’d been building for 8 years evaporated.

This time period was one of the most difficult in my life. Yet now I look back on it with a smile. At that moment, I already had an inkling of what I might do next. But I had no idea just how much success – and mind-blowing impact – I would get the great privilege of experiencing in the years to come.

Key topics discussed:

  • My First Business: How I started my first business from scratch, and the nature of the dynamic between my partner and me at that time.

  • The Big Moment: One phone call was all it took to dissolve an 8-year working relationship and erase my entire working income. I unpack what that felt like.

  • The Next Chapter: The seeds of what was to come were wrapped up in that fateful moment, and I share how I strategically pivoted to the next stage of my career.

Key takeaways:

  • Business challenges big and small can be seen as opportunities to grow and adapt – if we approach them with a resilient, positive spirit.

  • My network of fellow entrepreneurs was my life raft, and there’s no way I’d have been able to push through without them.

  • Overcoming challenges is like lifting weights. The more reps we get in, the stronger those muscles get. And tackling small challenges prepares us for the big ones.

03 Dec 2024You Don’t Need To Be Ready w/ Jeff Noble - DTL Clip #600:14:28

Everyone’s reaction to their first launch is different…

“I made $2,000… and I nearly pooped my pants.”

That ^^^  was Jeff Noble’s.

In this short clip from Dare to Launch, Chris and I sit down with Jeff, founder of Noble Initiatives – a groundbreaking organization that provides education and support to families affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

Jeff shares some of the big lessons he’s learned along the way, including how he went from those nervous beginnings to sharing speaking stages with doctors, Olympic athletes, and other highly credentialed professionals – all without having any fancy titles or qualifications of his own.

There are a bunch of highlights here, including:

  • Why you don’t need fancy titles or credentials to launch… and what your customers really care about instead

  • Why launching is more than just sales – if you’re only focusing on numbers, you might be missing out on some awesome opportunities

  • How to launch… even if you don’t feel quite ready

  • What is a “Launch Parachute” – and how can it keep you and your launch on track… even when things go sideways

It’s always fun talking to Jeff Noble. He’s a testament that launching with heart, humanity, and passion can make a life-changing difference… even if you don’t have everything figured out yet.

13 Aug 2024Story: Jeff Walker’s First PLF Launch - DTL #2300:37:30

It was a beautiful spring day in 2005… and when I hung up the phone, my business was GONE.

This is the story of how I started over, in a brand-new market, with a brand-new product that would eventually become known as Product Launch Formula®.

In my first business, it took six long years to reach a million dollars in sales. With this new business, it took just six months.

In this episode, we dive into that crazy ride… along with some of the key things that made all the difference.

We also discuss:

The Early Days of Online Marketing: This industry was crazy tight-knit back in the early 2000s. It felt like a handful of us were working together to invent the future of online marketing.

Building Social Proof: How I was able to get 10,000 people on one phone call (in 2005, this meant patching together bridge lines!), and leverage my relationships with key players in the industry to position myself as an expert in my prelaunch content.

My First JV Partners: How I came into a brand-new market as a virtual nobody… and less than six months later had some of the biggest names in the industry promoting for me.

Market Longevity: Back in those early days, it was rare for anyone to sell the same product for more than a few months, let alone years. But that first launch gave me a different idea…

28 May 2024Marketing Your Authentic Self with Michael Maidens - DTL #1201:13:09

Join your hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker in welcoming Michael Maidens to the podcast this week! Michael is an entrepreneur, educator, and lifestyle creator. He also happens to be an incredibly skilled tennis instructor, and you’ll see why that’s worth mentioning shortly! Over the years, Michael has shepherded over 90 successful launches, helping all kinds of businesses, projects, and products get off the ground. In today’s episode, Chris and Jeff dig into Michael’s specialty: authenticity online. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the boom of the online knowledge-based economy, flocks of coaches, specialists, and creators have turned to developing coaching platforms. And in this increasingly crowded space, the key to standing out is all about showing the world exactly who you are through authentic marketing. As Michael sees it, there’s a bit of bravery required. Being your true authentic self online can be intimidating, but at the end of the day, all you really have to distinguish yourself from the pack is...you! Sure, there might be 50 other folks offering coaching for your expertise, but none of them are exactly like you. Leaning into your authentic self, and infusing that individuality into your marketing copy and your offer, is the key. There will be some roadblocks and risks along the way. And with this self-revelation often comes a fear of rejection. “What if people don’t like my true self?” That’s where bravery comes in. You have to keep trying. If you don’t succeed right out of the gate, the timing could be off! Or perhaps your copy just isn’t fully aligned with your personality. The more time you spend refining your offer and your copy to reveal your authentic self, the closer you’ll get to where you need to be. Above all, Michael preaches the importance of focusing on outcomes in your offer. We can’t just tell people how many videos or workbooks they’ll get with our services. People need a promise of what they will become at the end of the process. And if you can make that promise so exciting that people genuinely want to share it, you’re on the right track.

For the Bonus Discussion with Michael: Text: BONUS2 to 1(888)-530-0282

Key topics discussed:

  • Michael’s’ Story: How he went from a tennis pro to a visionary entrepreneur and how the lessons he learned from tennis apply to his work today.

  • The Current Online Landscape: How our online arena has become ultra-competitive and what we can do to stand out.

  • The Product Launch Formula Effect: Jeff and Michael discuss how they met, how their relationship has grown, and how our live events and masterminds have impacted Michael’s journey.

  • Michael’s First Huge Success: Michael explains how a hugely successful documentary launch taught him a million lessons about marketing and set him on the right path. Plus, Jeff and Chris remind him that he accidentally invented the standard for documentary marketing.

  • Jeff’s Experience with Authenticity Online: Jeff walks us through the humble beginnings of his online newsletter in 1996 and how he learned the true value of authenticity.

Key takeaways:

  • Authenticity makes up for credentials. When you’re getting started, you might not have the necessary credentials to compete with other players. But what you do have is your personality and your individual perspective. Lean into that.

  • Authenticity is the most sustainable mode of communication in marketing. When you’re not forcing anything, your marketing will feel natural. You’re not ending your livestream or your webinar feeling like a fraud or a trickster. You just continue being yourself!

  • We don’t need to sell to everyone. No matter what your specific makeup might be as a person, there is an audience of people who want to hear from you.

  • Imposter syndrome is healthy. It’s a sign that you have heart, empathy, and you’re not blinded by arrogance. Reframe it as a gift.

  • Visualize the outcomes you want your customers to get, and then pull from your knowledge only the most essential bits of information. Don’t cram everything you’ve ever learned into your offer; curate a specialized experience.

04 Jun 2024Cultivating Resilient Leadership - DTL #1300:35:17

Join your hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker this week as they dive into an evergreen topic: mental resilience. Growing Product Launch Formula from a one-man operation to a robust 40-person team has taught Jeff countless lessons about leadership, communication, and organizational flow. And like any business venture, there have been peaks and valleys along the way. One of the biggest factors in Jeff’s success has been his ability to maintain a sense of mental resilience through thick and thin. Key to today’s discussion is a concept from the great Jim Collins book “Good to Great”: the Stockdale Paradox or “Stockdale Moment” as Jeff calls it. Collins believes that in difficult moments, great organizations and leaders thrive by maintaining unwavering belief in their mission and tackling challenges head-on. This idea has been a kind of north star for Jeff in times of struggle, with the COVID-19 pandemic serving as an important example. Jeff looks back on the hysteria and uncertainty of 2020, and how he tackled that moment of disorder and shepherded his company to the other side. He also offers up some other nuggets of wisdom he learned from traveling to Richard Branson’s island, from listening to Ex-Navy SEAL Jocko Willink’s podcast, and from reading Victor Frankl’s “The Man’s Search for Meaning.” Above all, Jeff explains that the key to resilient leadership is maintaining a progressive, forward-thinking perspective.

Get the AI Playbook FREE at DaretoLaunchShow.com/AI

Key topics discussed:

  • The COVID-19 Pandemic: Jeff recalls the difficulties that Product Launch Formula went through in 2020 and how he was able to move forward.

  • Organizational Communication: In difficult times, Jeff believes strongly that we need to be able to emote and discuss freely within our organizations.

  • Jeff’s Love of Meditation: Jeff’s daily meditation practice has a ripple effect on how he acts in every situation throughout the day.

  • Perspective vs. On-the-Ground Knowledge: As the leader of the company, Jeff reflects on how he now has more perspective, but less information on the daily happenings of the company, and how leaders must be able to balance these two opposing forces.

  • The Stories We Tell Ourselves: We’re all constantly creating self-mythologies about our lives. Jeff believes that we have the choice to make these narratives solution-based instead of problem-focused.

Key takeaways:

  • Mental resilience is experiencing a setback and understanding that it’s an event, it’s not who you are.

  • We need to address problems, but we can’t dwell on them. How do we move forward?

  • As you move higher up in a company, you’re responsible for less daily tasks, but you’re responsible for more time. You have to become a visionary.

  • We have to remain inspired and positive at all times. Then when adversity rears its head, we’re ready to take it on.

  • True leaders must adopt a servant mentality. How can we best serve our team and our company?

29 Oct 2024Fun Products Can Transform Lives - DTL Clip #400:13:11

“Jeff, what if my product is just for fun? What If I teach ice skating courses? Or guitar lessons? How do I sell that service as truly transformational for my clients?”

I get this question all the time, and it’s one of my favorites. In this clip from our Launch Masterclass Q&A earlier this year, I offer my two cents. Lots of folks worry that marketing “fun” is a lot more difficult than marketing professional success courses or, say, physical health products. But in my opinion, that line of logic drastically underestimates the value of fun in today’s world. In explaining my point, I turn to the great work that our friend Amy Small has done with Knit Collage. She doesn't just sell yarn and designs… she sells her clients the ability to connect to their inner child through a tactile, communal crafting experience. So if your product can help someone become a more confident, happier, accomplished individual, you’re off to the races.

Key takeaways:

  • Entrepreneurs either bring joy to people or minimize pain… both are noble missions

  • Helping someone improve at a craft, hobby, or sport may seem nonessential, but we have to think about how that improvement helps people on a deeper level

  • The world is pretty crazy right now… as entrepreneurs it’s our purpose to help folks feel happier and more fulfilled in life

04 Feb 2025How to Fail Your Way to Success - #3900:32:11

Some days, it can feel like you’re spinning your wheels. Like no matter how hard you try, the progress just isn’t there.

It’s easy to get discouraged when that happens… unless you realize that those small steps you take today can be the exact steps that lead to breakthroughs tomorrow.

The key is learning to recognize them… and knowing when to double down and keep going.

This week on Dare to Launch, we dive into mindsets and techniques you can use to turn slow progress, setbacks, and even failures into fuel that drives you forward.

We explore:

  • How I stay motivated even when it feels like I’m making zero progress (yes, it happens to me too!)

  • The #1 question I ask my skiing coach that’s completely transformed my progress (if you’re a coach, use this with your clients and they’ll probably experience game-changing results too)

  • The biggest thing stopping people from taking action – and how I solved it for myself

  • Why focusing on small wins leads to big breakthroughs – faster than you think

… and more!

This episode will help you realize that setbacks don’t mean “stop” – they’re signs you’re growing. And give you practical techniques you can use to turn setbacks into stepping stones.

08 Apr 2025We’re Rethinking Live Events (Here’s Why) - DTL #4500:33:48

Over the past 20 years, I’ve probably hosted every kind of event you can imagine…

From high-ticket, ballroom-sized events like PLF Live® and LaunchCon® that took over entire hotels for the weekend to high tech virtual events from a top-of-the-line studio with thousands of attendees watching on Zoom.

That’s not including all the hybrid events… livestreams… multiday Zoom marathons…

But while I love the excitement and energy of those big productions… lately I’ve found myself drawn back to simpler, more intimate events.

Just me, a few of my top team members, and 40-50 entrepreneurs.

Events where I know everyone’s name and what their business is. Events where we can really dig in deep and I can watch a launch plan come together for someone in real time.

In this week’s episode of Dare to Launch, Dan, Chris, and I talk about why I’m so excited about these small, high-touch events right now – and why they might just be the most powerful and (believe it or not) easiest ways of connecting with your true fans right now.

We also get into:

  • The simple shift that can turn an in-person event from a pressure-filled gamble into a fulfilling, profitable experience

  • The state of live events in 2025 – we explore how the market has shifted… and what this means for you

  • A simple – and often overlooked – event model for connecting with your true fans (we’ll walk you through how I’m using this right now)

  • The problem with trying to create an intimate experience over Zoom (and what to do instead)

  • The magic of in-person coincidence – how a chance meeting in a hotel elevator led to me tripling my next launch

And more…

07 Jan 2025The Game-Changer You Didn’t See Coming: Inside the First Ever Online Summit00:10:43

Have you ever faced a moment where you had to reinvent everything?

Back in 2009, Nick Ortner found himself in that exact spot...

Money was tight, time was tighter, and he needed a way to make things work – fast. What came next was an idea born out of sheer necessity…

In this clip from Dare to Launch, we unpack the untold story of how the online summit was born.

You’ll hear:

  • The unorthodox decision that changed everything – and why breaking the rules sometimes leads to the best breakthroughs.

  • How free content became the ultimate sales tool – and built unshakable trust with an audience hungry for real transformation.

  • Why failure was the unexpected foundation of success – and the lesson it holds for anyone ready to innovate.

  • The secret to making people tune in – and stay hooked – even when you’re giving it all away for free.

Whether you’re navigating challenges or looking for your next big idea, this clip will inspire you to take action. And it’s a powerful reminder that the best ideas often come when you’re out of options.

I just finished up with my first live lesson of the Launch Masterclass. And even though you’re supposed to keep everything super short… I gave over 3 hours of content and the folks stayed on until the very end. So how did I keep it up for 3+ hours without falling asleep on my feet? And for that matter, how did I manage to keep people’s attention for 3+ hours? This is what I did…

And you can still join the Launch Masterclass - I’ve got three more live lessons coming up. You can join right here: https://productlaunchformula.com

06 Aug 2024Build an Epic Community w/ The Reconnected - DTL #2201:11:55

Get access to the Dare to Launch Bonus Vault: https://www.daretolaunchshow.com/taco

Join your hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders in welcoming Emma Johnston and Eleanor Mann to the show this week! Emma and Eleanor are the founders of The Reconnected, a revolutionary resource for the modern parent. Their courses and online community provide parents with the emotional and practical tools necessary to connect with and responsibly raise their children. They’ve been incredibly successful not just in launching their business but in converting their existing audience away from Instagram and onto their own independent app. They’ve also cultivated an intensely supportive following by setting the tone early on, and have never once had to moderate their community. In today’s episode, we dig into how they were able to establish that intimacy, and how their coaches have been successful in maintaining it. We also dive into the nitty-gritty of offering captivating free resources, transferring a devoted following across platforms through unique perks, the vital connective magic of the live event, and how introverted entrepreneurs can utilize technology to speak to thousands of people. Emma and Eleanor have cultivated one of the most genuine, supportive communities out there, and it’s no happy accident.

We discuss:

  • Why Emma and Eleanor offer transformation to everyone, not just paid subscribers (and how it leads to conversions down the road)

  • Why they believe the best way to foster intimate, personal connections is through live events

  • Why they choose to host their community in a private app (and how they migrated their community from Instagram little by little)

  • How setting the tone with your followers right at the beginning is crucial (and why it makes all the difference down the road)

Key Takeaways:

  • Be Authentic: Emma and Eleanor don’t try to be perfect on their live streams, and their following loves it. They’re not pretending to be anybody they’re not.

  • Set the Tone: If you create a positive, supporting environment at the outset, your community will follow the lead (and you’ll never have to worry about removing bad apples from the bunch).

  • Look at the Camera Like It’s Someone You Love: Teaching thousands of people can feel incredibly daunting. The key is to focus on one special person at a time.

21 May 2024Building Unstoppable Teams with Mike Michalowicz - DTL #1101:11:17

Episode Overview:

In this episode of "Dare to Launch," hosts Chris Saunders and Jeff Walker are joined by Mike Michalowicz. Mike is an entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and author known for his innovative approaches to profitable business practices. His latest book, "All In," focuses on creating and leading high-performing teams. We’re big fans of Mike’s work and this new book is no exception. In today’s episode, Chris and Jeff pick Mike’s brain on his secret to employee training and development in 2024. Mike’s success has everything to do with the way he’s treated his employees over the years, and while his methodology might seem straightforward, it’s actually pretty revolutionary in solving employee retention issues. And it works! When Mike walks into the office, his employees don’t suddenly go dead quiet. And that’s because he builds a safe, comfortable dynamic with his team. He’s realized over time that when we force employees to comply, they will seek to defy. We need to redefine our relationships with our employees and understand how supporting their individual goals and happiness is beneficial for everyone involved. If we trust and support them, they’ll do the same for us. Mike has implemented key strategies to help his employees grow through his companies, often to the point where they end up evolving out of their current roles and moving onto new opportunities. And this is actually a net positive for any company as Mike sees it! The best way to get your team to buy into your goals is to support their goals on an individual level. Company growth and employee growth should operate in tandem, and Mike has tons of fun stories to show how and why that’s the case.

Key Topics Discussed:

  1. Mike Michalowicz's Background: Introduction of Mike as the force behind several multi-million dollar companies and the author of influential books like "Profit First" and "All In."

  2. The Genesis of "All In": How the challenges of the pandemic led Mike to prioritize writing "All In," focusing on overcoming difficulties in team dynamics, such as recruiting issues and the shift from desired to demanded workplace flexibility.

  3. Leadership and Learning: Mike discusses his journey from struggling leader to a more competent one, emphasizing that the best leaders often teach what they need to learn themselves.

  4. Employee Dreams and Aspirations: The importance of understanding and nurturing employees' individual dreams to inspire and retain top talent. Mike shares practical steps and examples of how to implement this in any business.

  5. Cultural and Tactical Adjustments for Remote Teams: Strategies for maintaining a strong team culture and high engagement, even with remote team members.

  6. Real-Life Examples from Mike's Experience: Mike shares anecdotes, including a memorable moment involving unconventional underwear choices during a critical business operation.

Key Takeaways

  • Many people in the workforce have forgotten how to dream. We need to relearn the capacity to dream. Understand your employees’ dreams and figure out how to attach them to the work that they’re doing.

  • The typical mindset is “Do what you need to do at work. Your life is your life.” We’ve transcended that in 2024. What you do at work should help you progress your life goals.

  • Helping your employees get to the next level means that they might leave you. But that’s a good thing! Great leaders help people in their growth towards what they really want to do. It’s a fluid experience through the company.

  • If you treat employees well, they’ll put the word out for you when they leave.

  • We need to hire employees based on their potential. You don’t need to be looking for people who are rockstars now, you want to find the people who will be rockstars very soon.

21 Nov 2019The Case for Credentials... - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #3600:04:29

It looks like I ruffled a few feathers with an email I sent out about “no credentials, no problem”. And I want to set the record straight… there are definitely a few situations where you want someone with credentials (anything requiring surgery comes to mind). But there’s something even more important than credentials, and that’s what this week’s blog is about.

07 Nov 2023Copywriting – Words That Create Action - DTL #501:06:06

Being able to generate thousands of dollars in sales, just by typing a few words on a laptop is as close to having magic powers as it gets.

So let’s talk copywriting…

Lots of folks are intimidated by copywriting. But the truth is, whether it’s an email, social post, or YouTube video… EVERYTHING you create for your business is “copy”. That’s what makes copywriting the most must-have, master skill of them all. And why you can’t afford to ignore it.

Co-hosts Jeff Walker and Chris Saunders are joined by members of Jeff’s team Justin Livingston and Dan Walker (Jeff’s son!) to discuss the role copy plays in your business, critical copywriting resources you can leverage, and the role of promises, as well as some of the pitfalls to beware.

Also, in this week’s episode:

  • How to take your copy skills to a whole new level… by answering just 3 simple questions
  • Where the world’s best copywriters go for ideas when starting a new promotion (do this and you’ll never have to face the blank page again)
  • Why copywriting will always be a highly valued and in-demand skill… no matter how advanced ChatGPT or AI becomes
  • The ONE thing you need to know before sitting down to write ANY copy
  • Why – despite having several seven and eight-figure students – I’ve NEVER published a case study of a million-dollar launch (and I don’t think I ever will)
  • The biggest mistake entrepreneurs make when hiring a copywriter (plus – the simple test non-copywriters can do that shows them whether copy is good or bad)
  • Why smaller promises often generate more sales
  • PLUS – Where you can download my brand-new “8 Rules for Copywriting” guide… for free

… and much more.

15 Aug 2019What Do They REALLY Think? - Launch Life With Jeff Walker Episode #1500:09:58

The first time I met some of my clients in person, I was pretty nervous. I had my Product Launch Formula program that I KNEW was going to help them. But still, there was this little voice that wondered if they’d think I was a fraud.

Anyway, I eventually got up the courage to talk to a few of those clients… they told me about their experience with PLF, and I was blown away. Frankly, hearing those first few stories changed my whole approach to how I talk about PLF. Here’s what happened...

Amanda and Jonathan Texeira managed to save enough to pay off $24,500 in debt in less than 8 months. After that happened, they had people begging to learn how they did it.
