We seem to be on a roll right now with fun interviews with some of Doug's best friends in the wrestling business so we figured we would keep that going and welcome the one and only Downtown Bruno to the show this week! Many fans are familiar with Bruno's time in the WWF/E as Dr. Harvey Wippleman and that Bruno is a best friends with Dewayne "the Rock" Johnson, and that Bruno managed in the Memphis territory but many don't realize that Bruno got his start in the Kansas City territory and spent some time working for Continental in Alabama in the 80's, and that Bruno was a very close friend to not only Doug, but to Tommy and Eddie Gilbert as well. Bruno shares a bunch of great stories from throughout his career including stories of working with a very young Sid Vicious in Alabama, working with Big Bubba and Goliath in Memphis, his USWA feud with Scott Bowden, working with Bertha Faye, Stacy Carter, Miss Texas, Emily Arthur, and many, many others. It's always a fun time talking to Bruno as he drinks beer and eats chickens wings down in good ol' Walls, Mississippi. So come hang out and listen in on a "Dangerous Conversation" with Dangerous Doug & Downtown Bruno! 30 Aug 2024 | Episode #04: "Remembering SID" | 01:10:12
It's Episode #4 of Dangerous Conversations with Doug Gilbert and this week we had planned to talk about Bill Watts' UWF, but we're going to put that off until a later date... and instead we're going to spend this episode allowing Doug to share some of his favorite memories of he and Eddie's good friend, Sid Eudy. While most fans only know Sid as the "Master & Ruler of the World" and a main event superstar in professional wrestling, there's another side of him that most have never gotten a chance to see. Doug spends some time here sharing stories of the man he's known as a loyal friend to him and his family inside and outside the wrestling business for over 36 years. From the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis to main events at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and back again, Sid was always the same humble family man that Doug met all those years ago. We hope everyone enjoys this episode and it manages to shed some light on Sid Eudy, the real man behind the "monster" on television. 31 Jan 2025 | Episode #26: The Last Battle of Atlanta (Rich vs. Sawyer) | 01:15:16
If you were a fan of Georgia Championship Wrestling in the early 80s, there was no feud more talked about or more memorable than Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer. As most folks know, this feud came to a head in a famous steel cage match that would be known as the "Last Battle of Atlanta". The match is memorable for many reasons. One of the reasons is the cage itself, it was unique in the fact that it was a steel cage that also had a chain link top that would go on to inspire the WWE's HELL IN A CELL cage years later. It's also famous because for decades it was believed that no footage of this match existed, it was the holy grail of the pro wrestling tape traders from the VHS days into the DVD days. But mostly it was memorable because it was an exclamation point on a violent and bloody feud that lasted over two years. This week, Doug & Tommy discuss the feud with Buzz Sawyer and everything that led up to it, the match itself, and even a few things you may not remember that happened after it. Check it out!

On this episode we have an indepth conversation with Tommy about teaming with Doug’s brother Eddie Gilbert in 1984 as Jackie Fargo's "New" Fabulous Ones to replace the previous Fabulous Ones, Stan Lane & Steve Keirn who left the Memphis territory. 16 Aug 2024 | Episode #02: "That Was Fake, Man!" | 01:11:01
It's Episode #2 of Dangerous Conversations with Doug Gilbert, and this week we talk to Doug about one of the wildest episodes of USWA Championship Wrestling that ever aired, from beginning to end! It's the January 13, 1996 episode and it features two title changes, heel turns, a face turn, and it all centers around Doug Gilbert, Tommy Rich, and Jerry 'the King' Lawler! The episode featured what was a pretty surreal promo at the time between Doug and the King (and eventually Tommy Rich). We listen to the whole promo and then Doug breaks it down in detail as far as what was said before, during, and after the promo and what the intent behind it was. The promo was unique for the time period and pretty shocking... and this marks the first time it has ever been discussed in detail.. anywhere! Doug also answers a fan question concerning Smoky Mountain Wrestling to round out the episode! https://youtu.be/HJnTOPjc29Q?si=fK53SAVegrPBY6jE

06 Aug 2024 | Dangerous Conversations Ep. #1: "King of Rock & Roll" | 00:49:59
On the debut episode of Dangerous Conversations w/Doug Gilbert, host Gene Jackson and Doug Gilbert discuss how Doug's "King of Rock & Roll" gimmick came about in the USWA in 1993... What it was originally supposed to be, where it was supposed to go, and why it ended so abruptly, never to be revisited again. From there, Doug talks his 1993 USWA feud versus his own brother, "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, where Doug went after the 'loser leaves town" match, what the promotion did with Eddie after Doug left, and why Eddie had a problem with it. Doug also recounts Eddie's infamous "shoot promo" on Saturday morning television, the Gilbert's history of such promos over the years, and whether or not the rumors are true that Eddie was fired from the USWA for that promo. Plus, the Dangerous One answers questions sent in from fans about his favorite memories of his Dad (Tommy Gilbert) in the ring when he was a kid, how Doug ended up doing the Freddy Krueger gimmick in Japan (and who did it first), and a few of his memories of "Dream Machine" Troy Graham (ya understand what I'm sayin?)! 25 Oct 2024 | Episode #12: The Memphis Mafia & More! | 01:07:43
This week Doug & Tommy kick off the show talking about their weekend working the big wrestling event at the University of Memphis featuring many other legends of Memphis Wrestling. Then we get into some discussion of the "Memphis Mafia", who were the members? What was it exactly? Was it just an onscreen group, or was it more than that? Doug & Tommy get pretty in depth describing exactly who and what the Memphis Mafia was at that time in the USWA. In the process of this conversation a number of other interesting people and topics come up including: Sam Bass, John Gilliam, Sam Lowe, how Tommy paid the price when Doug and half the card got caught up in a "snow storm", dealing with heated fans, who Brian Christopher's "Favorite Wrestler" really was, and so much more!

This week, Tommy Rich is away in Philadelphia working a show so Doug and Gene invited a special guest to join them in 'the Grappler' Len Denton! A great conversation ensued covering how Len came about wearing the mask and who he "took" the Grappler name from, how he became the booker in Kansas City and the legend who felt he was the man for the job, how he felt about becoming a tag team with Tony Anthony in Mid South at the suggestion of Bill Watts, narrowly avoiding a tragedy at the Superdome in a match with the Junkyard Dog, protecting the business against a news reporter who called it fake, his relationship with Roddy Piper, plus the big Portland Wrestling Expo coming up in February, and much more! A really fun episode and an informative conversation with one of the top workers in the wrestling business who worked in nearly every territory during his career.
